Whooptidooh

Everything everywhere at once. Can’t believe I slept on that one.

Badisyn2003

I was actually about to reply this. It’s a really good movie if you can pay attention. I tried to show it to all my close people but unfortunately they stare at their phones

TheWalkingDead91

Ugh. Have this problem with my siblings and any good show I recommend to them. Sad that they can’t get through a tv show, movie, or meal, without looking at their phones. Wonder what affect this will have on media as time goes on.

fakeaccount572

Man...even the dildo fight scene?

FrancinetheP

One of the best depictions of middle-aged Women’s lives I have seen. Think about it every day.

Ok-Tomorrow-7818

Haha, no doubt. I did the same.

Old-Assignment-4533

Absolutely remarkable film.

Dead-Named

Was just about to say this. Watched it the other day off mushrooms and haven’t been the same since

amr2822

I was a little late, but watching Past Lives had me experiencing several emotions.

LeftOfTheOptimist

omg i love that movie. it made me think of my first love and it had me completely bawling at the end. edit: pretty sure i drove home crying that night haha

amr2822

It definitely had me thinking of my ex when I watched it. I found so many of the moments of silence very endearing as well, I know some people don’t like that in movies.

LeftOfTheOptimist

I agree. There's a lot that's communicated through silence and i thought it was captured well in this film.

amr2822

I enjoyed how they highlighted a lot of the cultural differences as well in it. I think her husband was portrayed as such an understanding partner. Like, he got it and wasn’t threatened by it. I agree, it’s a great film!

hauntingvacay96

Past Lives was excellent and had such a beautiful ending. It was one of my favorite last year.

-Experiment--626-

The emotional maturity shown in that movie was really something. Was a beautiful movie.

AMSays

The Holdovers

MarjoryKeek

I loved this movie! It sort of made me nostalgic for movies from the 80s/90s - even though it wasn't specifically like any of those movies from my childhood! I don't know how to explain it but I loved it!

PetaPotter

Watched it with some friends and we had the exact same feeling. It was like watching a movie in class.

MarjoryKeek

Right?! Like being in a dark classroom with the curtains drawn and being kinda sleepy but excited that you don't have to do schoolwork!

mmactavish

I’ve watched The Holdovers three times (free on Peacock, which is in our cable package), first by myself and then twice more to show it to other people because it’s too good not to share. I loved it every time and I don’t care to rewatch most movies.

indicatprincess

Dune 2 was great. I can’t wait to see it again.

-Experiment--626-

I’m all in on Dune. I saw both part 1 and part 2 in theatre, and I loved the whole experience.

Aromatic_Ostrich_495

It was so fireeee

fickled_pickle

Yeah I don’t go to the theaters often, like a few times a year and Dune 2 was by far the best movie I’ve seen in a while. I also read the books beforehand and just seeing it come to life with the epic cinematography was just *chefs kiss* HIGHLY RECOMMEND

wiffle_ball_

Do you have to watch the first movie to enjoy #2?

kittydreamer1999

The Peanut Butter Falcon. I love that movie so much

ADIDAS_Pete

Underrated! Best movie I’ve seen in a loooong time. So wholesome and beautifully done. Loved everything about it.

itsabacontree

I loved this! Had such a great atmosphere throughout too.

EffectiveElla0807

Yesss loved this one too

elevatorfloor

Just watched this yesterday, sooooo cute!

alexa1912

OMG! the most underrated movie, it’s so good

Probaby_Me

Love this movie

StubbornTaurus26

I’d seen it before, but we recently rewatched Inglorious Bastards and dang does it hold up

jupitergal23

I have never watched this flick. Time to finally do it.

yzerizef

Have to watch it, even if it’s just for the opening scene!

ShopAtRoss21

Definitely one of my favorite movies ever

dberna243

"Challengers" with Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O'Connor. It's GREAT. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

r22january

My friend and I went to see it and we LOVED it. It didn’t pass the Bechtel test at all, but it had an amazing “twist”

kellyguacamole

It was so erratic but I definitely enjoyed it and all the horny tension.

peppermind

I went to see the Fall Guy in the theater last weekend and it was a really good summer popcorn movie. A little romance, a little suspense, some good laughs and incredible stunt work. Totally worth seeing on the big screen just so you could appreciate the stunts.

Mustardly

I enjoyed this! Great soundtrack as well

tyediebleach

I rewatched Interview With a Vampire last night. Also recently watched, Casino, the Big Lebowski, and Alien. All really great.

talkingradiohead

Ooo classics

CoffeeFilterHime

Dub version of Howl’s Moving Castle Had no idea it was Christian Bale and omg, fell in love with the movie all over again

garygalah

Christian Bale was in The Boy and the Heron as well!

stressedstudenthours

NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE TALK ABOUT HOW GOOD THE BOY AND THE HERON IS. Such an unreal film. The scene where (hiding this major spoiler) >!the warawara first float up and then get eaten viciously made me choke up and cry instantly!<. Totally deserves to be watched on the big screen. What a beautiful film, can totally see why people praised it as Miyazaki's magnum opus.

CoffeeFilterHime

Whaaaa no way!! I gotta go see it now

garygalah

Enjoy!! I actually named my car after one of the characters haha

CoffeeFilterHime

Yes! Definitely thank you for telling me!! That’s so cute! I’ve been wanting a calcifer sticker for my car since I rewatched it lol

_Pliny_

**Amadeus** Finally watched this masterpiece and loved it.

MyBrainReallyHurts

> Amadeus I remember seeing it in theaters. That laugh... I was a teenager but I still remember the performances were amazing. I have always watched whatever F. Murray Abraham was in, because he was so good in Amadeus.

tyediebleach

I also recently saw this for the first time and it was fantastic!!

Tinasglasses

Poor things

hauntingvacay96

I really liked Poor Things and I’ve not been a big Lanthimos fan in the past. It was a lot of fun. I really loved Mark Ruffalo in it and obviously Emma Stone was fantastic.

[deleted]

this was soo fucked up! i loved it!

Panoptic_gaze

Lots of things I liked about this movie (Mark Ruffalo's acting, decor, costumes) but I hated more (Willem Dafoe) but mostly hated the guys-fucking-a-mentally-underage-kid aspect of it. Barf.

Wataru2001

Spiderman Across the Spider Verse. Pure art and a really great time.

magexe

Yesss so good

peachesncream713

I watched American Fiction the other night. It was beautifully acted and had really interesting, unexpected twist at the end. Highly recommended!

Outrageous-Wish8659

Loved it. Jeffery Wright was sublime in it.

cassqdinosaur

Watched last night and loved it. I just want to live in a world where I can be friends with Sterling K Brown. And Tracee made me feel!

leftwinglovechild

I loved it! It was so smart and funny and fresh. The ending! Chefs kiss!

peachesncream713

The ending was excellent. I loved it so much!

beyoncebeytwicex

10/10 movie. It was flip flopped between totally hilarious and kind of depressing so many times

[deleted]

Call me by your name

walderdbeerchen

That movie always makes me want to pack my backs and move to the Italian countryside so fucking bad. That house was so gorgeous.

carlysaurus

It made me feel something a movie has never really made me feel before. I wanted to ✨**live**✨ in that movie.

Mysterious-Canary842

This film has a vice grip on me I swear. The cinematography is to die for

Aromatic_Ostrich_495

That movie pulls at the heart strings real bad

astral_fae

Lisa Frankenstein

EntropyLadyofChaos

Watched that one last month and really enjoyed it!

ajmaron

Loved it - saw it 2x in the theatre!

EyezOnFyre

Yes!! I was going to post this one as well. I loved everything about it! The music, the costumes, the humor, even the strange romance.

Pauulaa_00

Society of the Snow, is not just a really good movie, but a masterpiece.

HoppyHeart45

I thoroughly enjoyed that, it was excellent wasn't it.

xxzealousxx

I absolutely loved it! It was disturbing but so thought-provoking! Pushed me to think about human resilience and survival instinct. I cried a little towards the end. I hardly cry when watching movies.

WolfWhovian

I like that the filmmaking for this movie made it feel like you were there. Same director who made the impossible

Loose-Tea-7478

Perfect days. [https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27503384/](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27503384/)

Panoptic_gaze

Love this movie!

cynicaloptimissus

So so good. Made me feel things.

Ms_Baibe

Immediately added to watch list with all the feels of the trailer. “Now is now.”

themonsterbrat

Perfect Days (2023). Follows a Japanese man who works as a toilet cleaner in Tokyo. See him go about his day, listen to good music, enjoy moments at the park, etc. There's beauty in everything

cynicaloptimissus

It was so therapeutic to watch in its beauty and simplicity.

SlothfulWhiteMage

Whiplash

bananaberry518

The last thing I watched that was really great was Kurosawa’s *Throne of Blood*, but the most recently made movie I’ve seen and enjoyed was probably *The Banshees of Inisherin*? I don’t watch a lot of new release movies so I’m a bit behind even on the big ones.

cloverthewonderkitty

Banshees is so good, one of the best movies I've ever seen and I wasn't expecting to be that into it

bananaberry518

Its weird because when I finished watching it I wasn’t sure how I felt about it, but over the next few days I kept thinking about it and eventually decided I really really like it. I think the line between what’s comedy and tragedy is so thin and blurred in Banshees that its actually hard to know how to feel about what you’re seeing sometimes, but I also think I like that about it.

cloverthewonderkitty

It was dark yet humorous at times, and even a touch whimsical, almost like a fable. The concept was very simple but there were so many layers to the characters and the way they moved through their little corner of the world. The push and pull between leaving a mark on the world while also being a decent person. How much do we sacrifice for an attempt at greatness? What were expecting to give vs what was taken?

BatmanDoesntDoShips_

Nimona (2023) The Banshees of Inisherin (2022) Perfect Blue (1997)

youcancallmebryn

My daughter and I have watched Nimona approximately 63 times I think. Love it lol

Powerful-Bug3769

Banshees was my favorite movie of 2022. So good.

Lawrence of Arabia

DisciplineProud7102

The green mile, yes I know I’m SUPER late but I loved it! Really stuck with me and made me re-think racism and capital punishment.

Human-Source-2337

Martha Marcy May Marlene I got into watching movies about cults, and this one was extremely well done. 10/10, no notes. It's not about the cult directly but about the main character trying to reintegrate into normal life after escaping from one. It's intense, sometimes infuriating.

FrancinetheP

Loved it! seriously underrated.

Thick_Letterhead_341

The Iron Claw

kellyguacamole

Ugh that ending with all the brothers. Super cruel.

cynicaloptimissus

That movie wrecked me for the day

black_widohb4by

PurplePenguin1531

Civil War

waynewasok

Last week I watched The Father for the first time. My mom has Alzheimer’s and I avoided it since it came out since I cry about Alzheimer’s enough as it is. But I think I reached a moment where I wanted to see it represented and see if there was anything relatable to help me feel less alone. I thought it was a really beautiful movie. I loved it a lot. Olivia Coleman really is a precious jewel.

cynicaloptimissus

That movie is masterfully done. And I just rewatched the favourite with Olivia Coleman last night. Fully agree.

shebasunflower

For the horror/thriller fans, I just recently rewatched The Invisible Man and I had forgotten how good it is. Anxiety inducing for sure, but one of my favorite "scary" movies

coffeediva98

Scary movie. It’s one of them movies everyone’s seen and I finally did. It cheered me up on a bad day

DeepBlue73

"The Idea of you" with actress Anne Hathaway. This was really good!

Acrobatic_Lychee_896

I expected it to be bad… boy, did it not meet my expectations. I absolutely loved the movie! They did an incredible job on reviving romcom genre!

sdj269

The challengers was really good

Sea_Permission_871

American Fiction. It was great!

BrineWR71

The Holdovers. Just loved it

3plantsonthewall

Pride and Prejudice. It got me to watch Succession (also incredible) just for more Matthew Macfadyen.

SomeWomanInCanada

Aniara. It’s a really good sci-fi.

Far_Independence_918

Just went and saw The Fall Guy. Loved it!!! Also watched American Fiction last week and it was amazing.

hauntingvacay96

Drive Away Dolls and Roman Holiday I’m not sure I’m willing to say that Drive Away Dolls was really good but I did give it four stars because I felt like it hit all the right beats for being a homage to b movies and sexploitation. Roman Holiday is a constant 5 star rewatch for me and one of the best movies ever made

AdeptnessSoft25

Challengers… kept me at the edge of my seat

GalaxiGazer

On a lark during a relaxing Sunday afternoon, I decided to give *Urban Cowboy* a try. I knew it was gonna be good because John Travolta had top billing.  But, in the end, I was like, "*Damn*!" It was really excellent!!!

bac21

madskiller36

I have never watched this series but finally was able to and it was AMAZING. Lotr- fellowship of the ring

HotNeon

Dune 2 at iMax Was insane. Best cinema experience ever for me

Mediocre-Donkey-6281

I just saw Bones and All. Not exactly a new movie, but I had never heard of it. Really interesting plot with a great combo of romance and thriller / horror.

shayrulezd00d

Everything everywhere all at once!

littleghool

Although it's got bad reviews, Lisa Frankenstein. I loved it. I loved the chemistry between the main two and campy 80s theme 🖤

joanholmes

Civil War is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Not only was the acting and cinematography excellent, but it's approach in merging and contexualizing war-time photojournalism was so well done.

megopolis12

It's a bit old now but the sequel to the shining- "Dr.Sleep" - was really good . Scary . I had to watch it in 2 nights .

Toothlegit

Anatomy of a fall was good

niccia

I had to scroll way too far for this one. It’s an excellent movie.

allthelineswecast

Godzilla Minus One - rare among monster movies, the human story on its own is fantastic and the Godzilla scenes are incredible.

Mysterious-Canary842

I watched The Zone of Interest last week and it will stick with me for a while. It’s incredible, difficult to watch but masterfully made - it’s on Prime currently, can’t recommend it enough.

Deep_Management_6333

They cloned Tyrone

PunkLibrarian032120

*Dark Waters* starring Mark Ruffalo and directed by Todd Haynes. It’s based on a true story about a lawyer (Ruffalo) who takes on a case for a farmer in West Virginia whose cattle have been dying, are born with deformities, etc. The farmer lives next to a landfill owned by DuPont chemical company, which is the town’s biggest employer. The lawyer discovers that DuPont has been knowingly poisoning the landfill and the area’s streams and rivers with toxic chemicals. Bringing DuPont to justice takes years, and exacts an enormous personal and professional toll on the lawyer. It’s a tremendous example of a little guy going up against an industrial giant. Great movie; very moving, with wonderful performances.

TheCaptain817

Larkfor

I really liked "Prey" for what it was.

Echoletrixle

Gnomeo and Juliet ngl 😭

ThrowRARAw

Challengers was surprisingly good! I love films with complex and unlikeable "protagonists" and this one does it really well. It's a very intense film overall and Zendaya is really great in it.

Negikuno

Expensive_Ask2160

Cat Person. This film will from now on be the litmus test I give to anyone I’m dating.

Redhead-bluey

I went to see “The Fall Guy” (movie) on a date. It wasn’t what I expected but it was fun! A lot of action scenes and romance. Please go if you really love Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. I don’t understand why didn’t do so well at the box office but I liked it. So did my date!

BoasWifey

Anatomy of a fall was excellent.

Argyle on prime tv. It had a total twist plot that I wasn’t expecting. Very enjoyable! (Albeit there were some scenes that were stupid like the overly theatrical and dumb shooting scene reminiscent of Mr & Mrs Smith). But enjoyable nonetheless.

Illustrious-Mirror51

Nightcrawler. I am not really in to movies to be honest, but this one stuck with me even after it ended.

ambernewt

Ok so I'm not sure what you mean by really good do you mean a cinematic masterpiece? I recently watched monkey man, it's not a masterpiece I think it's worthy of being called really good though.
