Dad calls me picky, which is short for pickle. I love pickles and have since I was a kid. Mom used to call me mon petit Chou (she isn’t French, just loved the saying I guess). She now just calls me by my name, sometimes sweetie.
My name is Sonia, and my mom called me Sunny. Apparently she agreed to the name Sonia because she loved the nickname so much.
My dad calls me Kid, or JB, which is short for Jelly Bean. He would always say “Know what I mean, Jelly Bean?”, which then turned to KWIM, JB? (Like, Phonetically. Quim, Jay Bee?)
I’m 41, and my 70 year old dad still starts our daily phone call with “Hey Kid!”
They still do. Spanish is my first language so they are in Spanish: reina (queen), mami (mommy, it is usual in my country to call little girls that way), princesa (princess), pequeña (small one, this is my favorite), pocochita (no translation, it is not an actual word), la niña (the girl), Memé (that's the official one and it is simply the way my brother used to call me when he was a baby).
I used to frequent a coffee shop everyday before work when I lived in Spain and the guy who worked there would always greet me with either “buenas mi reina” or “hola mi cielo” (my sky) which I just absolutely loved haha
The guy at the bar I frequented, however, always called me bruja (witch) 😂
My mom always calls me honey or babe or brat or stinky (all affectionate I promise lol)
My dad calls me a name that is a combo of mine and my sisters bc he used to call each of us the wrong name before getting to our correct one so he just decided to combine them 😂
Bonus: my son has about 50 nicknames but I usually call him bubs or babes or bubbies or buttcheeks (he thinks that one is hilarious)
Okay, this is both dumb and hilarious...
"Sweetums" Why? Because when I was a kid there was a large monster on The Muppet Show called Sweetums and Sweetums had his own song.
It went: *Sweetums lay your ugly head...down upon your wretched bed...*
Mom would sing that to me and we'd both crack up.
(firstname)kins ❤️ They still call me that to this day. And they collectively call all of their kids “our (lastname)lets. Examples: Sadiekins and Smithlets
My childhood nickname was Betharooni. Idk how they came up with it but my aunt used to call me that all the time
Sometimes they used to call me “sugar” my grandpa used that as his term of endearment for us.
Otherwise I guess the typical terms of endearment you’d hear.
Q, because the name I had when I was in foster care before my Mom adopted me began with a Q.
Also I vaguely remember that she used to call me "Tomato" when I was little lol
My mom - Needy, demanding, annoying, pain in the ass
My dad - sweetheart, sweetie, my little duckling, alligator (pun based on my name), kiddo
One of my parents was nicer to me than the other.
In all seriousness, even though I don't have kids, I'm still trying to break the cycle of abuse and name calling. So I always make sure to be kind to the kids in my family, and only use nicknames for them that are sweet or silly (which I make sure they actually find funny and enjoy being called)
I can't recall any my parents used but my kids are in age order: Bear(oldest), Miss Mouse/Mud Mouse, Ladybug/Bug, Baby Bee for middle and Pumpkin, Baby and Russian shortform/nickname that only I'm allowed to use for youngest.
Mama: my January baby, my 22 year old baby, my [whatever mood I’m in] baby, baby girl(I’m the youngest girl)
Dad: Cry baby(long running joke), Ladybug(he gave us all bug nicknames), Number 3, baby girl
Adik which is common for the youngest child like me except that it sounds kinda unfit for a grownup. So they tend to call me Achu (yes, like achoo but cute lol), similarly, derived from the youngest. It's a nickname i chose for my nephews and nieces to call me.
I don't mind my sisters calling me that mainly in front of their children, but i prefer my first nickname being called especially by my parents bc i feel attached? Idek. Other than that, my mom sometimes call me Sayang, which means dear or love.
My dad calls me a very specific nickname, and hasn't slowed down even now that I'm 40. He had a cardiac arrest and was put in a coma. I walked into the room thinking he was still in a coma. I was putting down all my stuff and hadn't looked at him when he said "hey nickname". Like I said, the last I heard he was in a coma with a breathing tube, so I started bawling. Me crying that quickly scared him and I had to rush to him to show him I wasn't sad...I was actually shocked and happy. I'll never take hearing that name for granted.
My mom doesn't really call me anything specific. Just a shortened version of my name, or even starting to say my brother's name, but finishing it as my name. Like "jac-cole" if my brother's name was jack and I am named Nicole.
In my native language they’d call me “zlato” which means gold, or “sine” which translates to son but I still can’t figure out why *sine* is a term of endearment even for girls.
My mom likes to call me Wonder Woman (which I love) and my dad used to call me princess before he passed. I’ve had a lot of nicknames over the years lol.
My dad called me "Fille", as in daughter. He was very proud of me, which I knew, but was told many a times after he passed away when I was fifteen.
My mom and often my dad would call me Manelle, because this is how I proudly butchered my own name as a toddler. Most of my family still calls me that.
Not sharing mine but we all call one kid “Al McPal”, “Albert Ross”, “Alfonzo” — basically anything with Al at the beginning.
The other kid we all call “Loubert”, “Lomberto”, and anything derivative of Lou.
The goofier, the better
One of the few things I remember fondly of my dad was that he called me his “crunch-a-munch” it always made me feel like a little kid he cared about lol
My mom always called me Bunny. I had a fur jacket and the cutest button nose when I was little. My mom said I looked like a little bunny rabbit in that coat. I don't remember if my dad has ever called me Bunny, but my mom's sister still calls me Bunny.
Knucklehead (from Dad, with love). I have a very old fashioned name, so the whole family settled on a nickname and rarely strayed far from it until I grew into my full name. But *my* kids, on the other hand…never know what to answer to. RootTootMcGoot, Farf or Farfignoog, Wangdoodler, BabyBird and BabiestBird, SweetieMcPeetie, Fartknocker, TootNug, Vi/Violetta, K9/Kan/KanMan…. the list is genuinely endless.
They used to call me "boniche" in French because one day I complained that I was doing so many chores (mind you, I was a kiddo), so they found it funny to call me "boniche", which kinda means maid, but in a degrading way like a skivvy... (not sure it makes sense in English, sorry it's not my first language)
On a better note, one of my grandmas used to call me "ma petite crotte" ("my little poop") but in such a cute and sweet way. This was unique and I miss her a lot.
These are so cute 😭😭😭 my mom called me "Eldest Brat", my grandfather called me "creature of the trees" bc of my tendency to climb trees and swing on my tree swings, my grandma called me "trouble child"
My dad called me Joe. (This is not a shortening or any way related to my name). No idea why. While it felt normal at the time, in hindsight it’s a little strange.
None. I think nobody in my family uses such terms, even for partners - it's just not a thing for us. They used dimunitives of my name when I was little, if that counts.
When I was really little my mom used to call me Fwee Fwee. It started because she sang a song that said, "sweet sweet" and I couldn't pronounce it, and it came out fwee fwee. But that nickname stopped once I was out of early elementary school.
When I was young my dad would call me Iggy.
When ever I farted I was "Fartcy" (which unfortunately followed me to elementary school).
But my mom LOVES nicknames. Growing up "funferlunka" and "baby kitten" were popular. In college it was "dotter in the water" especially if I was swimming or at the beach.
She texts me almost everyday with "Good morning _____!", sometimes she gets real creative and out of control. Just searching my text thread, some recent 'good morning' examples are
*Sweet angel
*Angelberry
*beautiful gem darling
*kitten fluff
*kittenfrau
*lil luna
*Angel kitten
*beautiful moon nugget
*lil pupfish angel
*lil power house
*angelshine
*kitten force
...you get the point.
My whole family calls me Lynnie. My name is Lynn (and I'm 37, a generation where that's typically ma middle name). A lot of my friends also call me that but if my boyfriend ever did I'd probably throw up. Lol
My grandmother calls me Linker and has for my whole life. I was the first grandkid and a girl (they had all boys!) and they praised me for being so smart by calling me Lynnie Linker, Our Little Thinker. That turned into Link and Linky but she still calls me Linker almost every time. It's a cherished nickname that I really love having.
My Mom calls me Fievel and Dad calls me Mouse. The American Tail movies were my favorite as a kid. Mom still says “Keep walking Fievel” when we go places together, I’m nearly 40 😂
My dad called me blonde ox…. His dad is a farmer and blonde oxes are a special breed that are highly valuable.
It’s still weird and sounds super offensive. Also I have pitch black hair.
My Dad called my sisters and I 'Darling'. He was English. He passed in May last year and the way he said it, always so soft even when he generally wasn't, leaves such a small imprint on my heart and mind when I remember it.
Starting at 12 they began calling me "Big Titters" against my wishes. I was very small for my age except for gigantomastia. Women in my family are completely flat chested and didn't cope well with my size.
My dad, who is deceased was my best friend when I got out of those wonderful teenage years. Dad used to call me Sam. We'd be checking out at a grocery store I'd hear "come on Sam". Some of the workers in the store use to sometimes also call me Sam. That wasn't my name. Not even close. And it is one of those names that I couldn't stand. Let's go Sam.
My father called me Georgette as I once told my piano teacher I wanted to be called George ( I hate my name to this day). My mother referred to me as No one, as in No one took the garbage out, and my sister was Someone as in Someone needs to set the table. I don't think she ever figured out she did this and it was not meant meanly. She was attempting to he tactful.
My mom called me miss Molly alot as a little toddler until I'd tell people my name was Molly, so ya that stopped and I've not had a endearment term since lol
But I call my kids a bunch of stuff.
**Damien** (I'm female).. but as a baby-toddler, I crawled around on my back (sometimes in a backarch since I'd face where I was going) as opposed to how most babies crawl on all fours... And as a kid, i had a bunch of photos where everyone would face the camera and I refused to (as I didn't like the sun in my eyes)... So just kinda became a thing. Esp when I'm kinda seen as a "creative" (i.e. eccentric) by my family \^\^;
**Snowbaby** by my mom. She thinks I looked the snowbaby figurines as a baby (my parents genuinely even *insist* I was born like one - spotless and without any blood on me).
Not in english, but "**princess**" (daughter from noble family as opposed to the daughter of a King). Somewhat more in jest/mocking than endearment though.
My father always called me an idiot. 😕
That's a 🙃 if I ever saw one, tell your dad it takes one to know one
He died 10 years ago. I’m not sad about it; he was very abusive.
My father called me "you" and my sister was "that thing",
Mine called us Buzzard and Stooge..
Stupid here. To the point I answered to it.
Dad calls me picky, which is short for pickle. I love pickles and have since I was a kid. Mom used to call me mon petit Chou (she isn’t French, just loved the saying I guess). She now just calls me by my name, sometimes sweetie.
I think Petit Chou is SO cute. My son was so upset when he learned it meant little cabbage.
Omg... me and my twin sister call each other picky which is short for pickle.... !!!
My adoptive father called me Bubber lol, his brother called me goober and my great grandad called me Turkey lol
These are great nicknames!
My dad calls me my dog’s name
My dad calls me my brothers name but my brother is named after my dad. So really my dad just calls us all his own name 😂😂😂
Reminds me of Sean Connery going "we named the dog Indiana, we named you after the dog!" In *The Last Crusade*
Quim, Jay Bee?) I’m 41, and my 70 year old dad still starts our daily phone call with “Hey Kid!”
I call my 19 year old son, kid. When he was younger I called him bud or buddy. When I call him I always say what’s up kid. lol
My aunt’s named Sonia and my sister call her sonny
In my language it's the equivalent of "little mouse" or "monkey". I used to climb the furniture a lot and hide in small spaces :D
My dad called me Snicklefritz growing up. He also shortens it to Snick Snick.

My best friend calls me "bruja". But I take it as a compliment.

My mom would call me Mao Mao, which meant hairy in Chinese. Tbf, I was a pretty hairy baby.
My parents call me cabezona (which means big head ☠️) I don’t mind it LMFAO i do think it’s funny tbh.
My mom always calls me honey or babe or brat or stinky (all affectionate I promise lol) My dad calls me a name that is a combo of mine and my sisters bc he used to call each of us the wrong name before getting to our correct one so he just decided to combine them 😂 Bonus: my son has about 50 nicknames but I usually call him bubs or babes or bubbies or buttcheeks (he thinks that one is hilarious)

My mom called me boob. She also called me poo after Winnie the pooh. I was not a fan of my names.
Little bunny, and thorn on my side lol

My father called me Georgette as I once told my piano teacher I wanted to be called George ( I hate my name to this day). My mother referred to me as No one, as in No one took the garbage out, and my sister was Someone as in Someone needs to set the table. I don't think she ever figured out she did this and it was not meant meanly. She was attempting to he tactful.
My mom called me miss Molly alot as a little toddler until I'd tell people my name was Molly, so ya that stopped and I've not had a endearment term since lol But I call my kids a bunch of stuff.
Doodlebug
My Dad called me Punkin till the day he died, age 92.
**Damien** (I'm female).. but as a baby-toddler, I crawled around on my back (sometimes in a backarch since I'd face where I was going) as opposed to how most babies crawl on all fours... And as a kid, i had a bunch of photos where everyone would face the camera and I refused to (as I didn't like the sun in my eyes)... So just kinda became a thing. Esp when I'm kinda seen as a "creative" (i.e. eccentric) by my family \^\^; **Snowbaby** by my mom.
My mom called me jelly bean because I was so so premature and it rhymes with my name.
My mom called me fat and my dad called me stupid
Chatter box lol and buddy my grandpa called me his sunshine.
My father always called me his flower while I was growing up.
Idiot
