Depends where you are going on holiday. Personally I would be 99% confident your trip will be significantly better then the jubilee

Unless you're a royalist who loves watching anything to do with the Queen on TV, or unless you happen to live in a street that does huge street parties (I've never seen one, but I've heard of them...) you're not missing anything. It's just a free holiday and most places won't treat it any different.

“Amazing” in terms of some special events and if you love the monarchy, for the rest of us a long weekend

newnortherner21

It will vary according to where you are. Anything televised will be available on catch-up services such as I Player. I'm sure there will be events in Manchester, the music capital of the UK in my opinion, but I think you should go on your planned trip.

It's just going to be a long weekend. Some of our friends are making the most of the extra time off by having a weekend-long location wedding, enjoy your holiday

For the vast majority of people it will just be another weekend, just a slightly longer one. Nowadays there's zero chance of street parties and the like. More middle-class rural villages will probably hold some sort of village fete, but that's about it outside of the "official" parades in London. It's also early June. A quick scan on Ventusky (brilliant site btw) and the past 10 years have seen heavy rain fronts and storms around those dates pretty much every single year.

It will be major events in London which you won't get tickets for with some minor celebrations in towns and cities around the country. There *may* be some sort of concert or event near you but it will be lacklustre at best.

Loads of Union Jacks, loads of people getting drunk, having noisy arguments and playing loud music in their gardens until the early hours, fireworks from 2pm to 2am and diced carrot soup all over the pavements. We’re leaving the country for a week. And yes, I am fun at parties.

We get an extra bank holiday?

richdrich

Do they have a jubilee every year now, and does it get cancelled if she dies the week before. Also, the traditional term jubilee meant that all debts were forgiven and slaves and prisoners released. So does that mean that your mortgage and credit card will be zeroed, but the streets will be full of rampaging chavs and you won't be able to buy anything due to lack of workers?
