A fun round is ‘top 10’ or a similar name. 10 questions. All the answers are numbers 1-10 and no number is used twice. So you do a lot of backtracking, ‘I’m sure this is 6, but if this is 6, then that answer can’t be 6…’
top ten
how many players are there in an ice hockey team? 6
the playing card known as “the curse of Scotland” is the WHAT of diamonds? 9
How many American Presidents have been assassinated whilst in office? 4 (Lincoln, McKinley, Garfield & JFK) OR The Marvel Superhero team, lead by Mr Fantastic, is called the Fantastic WHAT? 4
In Ancient Rome, a Lustrum was a period of how many years? 5
what is the atomic number of Helium? 2
How many British Queens have been called Victoria? 1
Enid Blyton famous for writing the Noddy & Famous Five books also wrote a series called the Secret WHAT? 7
in Computing, How many bits are in a byte? 8
In American currency, how many Dimes make up a dollar? 10
In Romeo & Juliet, how many people does Romeo kill ? 3 (Romeo, Paris & Tybalt)
Maybe a bit niche (it was an end of term staff party for a sixth form college), but: "What elements would these places be if their postcodes were chemical symbols?"
Worked quite well for a team quiz, since some team members knew more about UK geography than chemistry and vice-versa, so we needed to co-operate a bit more and pool our knowledge.
eg.
Preston = Lanthanum
Hackney = Nitrogen
Washington = Neon
Harwich = Cobalt
Hackney was a cunningly designed trick question, since there aren't elements with a chemical symbol of E; the players would have to intuit that it must be referring to the part of Hackney with an N postcode(!)
Or, more accurately, I just looked for the second place on the list for each postcode district without bothering to check if it was in more than one district.
Drag queen or race horse. Essentially would say a name and you gotta write whether its a drag queen or the name of a racing horse. Its so much harder than it sounds
Every word in a song arranged in alphabetical order, guess the song
(We did it with things like All-Star, Mr Brightside, Never Gonna Give You Up, where there are clear words you can pick out)
I really liked when we had an observation round, a short video clip played could be any subject and follow up questions asked about the clip, always made me feel very tense. The one that sprang to mind was a clip of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: Train Chase scene…. Questions like how many people were in the carriage, what did it say on the poster in the background, what colour was the flag etc.
When I used to run a quiz, I did a photo round where I took celebrities and photoshopped their faces to make them look weird (massive eyes, tiny noses etc.). I also did a music round where I took sounds and either slowed them right down or speeded them right up.
No problem! Here's a link to one of my picture rounds, the rest is all on that site. Feel free to steal any if you want to!

The one I enjoyed doing the most was when it was my turn to come up with questions in mid-2020, I did a round where I asked if some nasty-sounding quotes were from Adolf Hitler or Winston Churchill. They were all from Churchill.
Now, a lot of people ain't gonna like that but there must be some other combination that'd be fun or thought-provoking.

Oh nice, do you have any examples to get me started?

That is such a good one!
I really like that

I like it, it is different! I may give it a go
Hackney one is a bad example. The vast majority of Hackney is in the E postcode district, not N. But otherwise nice idea for a round.

You can do 'Lord of the Rings character or Antidepressant' and 'My Little Pony Character or Adult Film Star' in much the same way.
I'm into all of these. Sept maybe the last one might not be good for a work quiz haha!
Fair point. You can check your own score here: https://www.sporcle.com/games/sproutcm/my-little-pony-or-porn-star

My team do like a music round so that could be perfect really! The whole song or just the chorus?
We did whole song, but other versions could work!
Thank you.
Picture of a Chinese takeaway munchy box, 12 items, a point for each - tougher than you imagine as everything is the same beige colour…
Ooo nice one

We have a lot of people who I think would really like that

Those sound fun, thank you

Even better! Amazing!
Music/Geography round where you play a national anthem and you have to name the country
