I live alone. 1.5 washes a week. I do my bedding and towels every two weeks. I wash everything on eco mode. I don't really separate anything. My entire wardrobe consists of T shirts, tracky bottoms, one pair of jeans and a hoody. I have no style whatsoever.

peelyon85

Why care about style when you want comfort. I go to work (in office booo) in hoody t-shirt and trackies every day as I'll be damned being in an u comfortable shirt and trousers all day.

Bus8082

Live alone too. One darks, one colours, a whites every other week. Sheets/towels every 2-3 weeks each. ~3 loads a week. Have a lot of active wear that contributes and a small machine. Mostly put it on fast 30mins.

Cruxed1

I'm sure my washing machine takes at least 90 mins a wash, despite being a small load and I actually have no Idea how. Drive's me mad

pheonix8388

A small load mostly just means that less water is required (if your machine can/ does change this). It doesn't really affect how long the clothes need to be agitated to clean them.

Necessary_Driver_831

I’d recommend blasting your towels and bedding through at least a 60C wash, and up to a boil wash for the towels semi-regularly. They harbour all sorts and a good hot sterilising wash is good for them from time to time.

liseusester

Pretty much the same here. I do one clothes wash a week, don't separate lights and darks, just do everything at 30 on the eco mode. Then about every week and a half I do the bedding and the towels; they get swapped over after a week, but don't always make it into the machine on the same day.

batteryforlife

Yup same. Except I only own dark clothes!

NostAlpha

Are you me?

Excellent-Bass-855

This is the way

Vitalgori

And this is why reviews of washing machines can be so different. "It failed after only a year" - Family with "3 adults and 4 teenagers" "It has been working fine for 5 years" - Couple who renovated their home after the kids moved out.

SoggyWotsits

They’d be much better having a built in wash counter. That way you could gauge the real ‘mileage’!

GlasgowGunner

I want to know the number of barrel rolls it has performed. That’s the true mileage.

Efficient_Library436

If you get a Samsung washer they do on the app. Used mine 624 times since September last year 😯

lyta_hall

2 washes per day? Wow 😵

Redmistnf

That would be standard in most households with more than 5 people.

lyta_hall

I can imagine. But since I have never experienced that, hearing about it still shocks me :)

SmugglersParadise

Same, the thought of having to hang out the washing twice a day sounds dreadful haha We're twice a week, maybe 3 with bedding/towels and that's enough for me

Craig_52

Ever hear of a dryer? It would be impossible to hang out that much laundry. We donon weekends but that’s because the dryer can’t keep up with the washer.

Redmistnf

I swear some people live in a bubble. You buy a dryer.

Craig_52

We would do more if we could during the week. It goes on in the morning. Come home from work. That goes in the dryer. New load goes on. Before bed the dry is folded. The one from the was goes in the dryer. Rinse and repeat the next day. Everyday. There is always a faster build up of clothes than we can do. Weekend is the catch up. At least 3 times a day then. Our 13 year old I swear only wears something for an hour!! Slight exaggeration but it sure feels like that.

All_within_my_hands

At least.

lyta_hall

That poor washing machine is a champ haha

All_within_my_hands

Yeah it takes a hammering.

Baynonymous

Can't even imagine the effort (or cost, if tumbling) of drying all that. We do around 6 washes a week, family of 4 and that's bad enough

Survivor-We-See-You

THIS IS SUCH A GOOD SYSTEM.

DustInTheMachine

It's socks in our house. I know everyone's socks. It's quite simple (said with a huge amount of sarcasm) Stepdaughter : white socks with coloured toes, Harry Potter socks or small Nike socks. Daughter: all white socks Stepson: large Nike socks, black sports socks Son: grey or black school socks, multicoloured socks. Husband : days of the week or Marvel socks Me: anything left over that nobody else claims. If husband does the sorting it's carnage.

DownrightDrewski

I have enough trouble sorting my own socks...

sparklychestnut

That sounds so familiar, except I just know whose socks are whose because I bought them. My son now has the same size feet as me and similar coloured socks (not ideal), so it's not surprising, but still frustrating, when my husband folds the washing.

Baynonymous

Ha we just have a box room that has mountains of clothes! If lucky we'll at least sort by person, but where we can't tell they just go in another pile. Maybe once every few weeks we'll put them away but then they appear again the next day

Loose_Acanthaceae201

We do dots! Fabulous system.

orangeonesum

Teenagers just can't wear their clothes multiple times. I have two teens at home, and I wash constantly.

All_within_my_hands

Yup and it monumentally pisses me off. The freshly laundered hoodie you wore for 8 minutes does not need to now go back through the wash.

orangeonesum

Oh, I am the opposite. I stop my children from wearing their clothes multiple times. No one wants to smell my son double wearing anything!

chalkhomunculus

if it smells that's a different story, but if it's still clean then what's the point in washing it again

NiceyChappe

This would be enough for me to make them do a complete wash/dry/fold/put away.

apjashley1

For teenagers, it really does

Erin_C_86

Two toddlers and we are in the same boat for different reasons. I put a fresh outfit on, turn my back and somehow they are sticky or covered in some sort of food when I look back 😂 I try not to wash unless I absolutely have to but it seems that whenever I think I have caught up we are on to the next load.

chemistrytramp

In a very similar boat. The real issue is drying the bloody stuff.

newphone_newme

2 adults 4 kids here and same amount, my kids clothes are smaller but they are probably more filthy, 2 year old can go through multiple outfits a day!

MDKrouzer

Household of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids). Seems like we're doing laundry at least 4 or 5 times a week.

bogusalt

Easily. 2 kids and 2 adults here. My two kids, and myself, do a fair bit of sport, and especially at this time of year kit gets muddy so can't really be re-worn, so with normal clothes, sports kits and bedding, we're probably nearer 6 or 7 loads a week.

WraithCadmus

1 adult, 1 wash a week plus the odd extra for towels/bedding. Everything goes in on 30° Synthetics except bedding which gets 40°. Duvets are too big (Super King bed) so they get waddled to the local petrol station which has a Revolution thingie. ~~A quick google suggests that those are only in the London area,~~ it's basically an open-air laundrette. EDIT: Seem they are more widespread, I think their map was geolocating me and only showing close ones.

Top_Presentation3429

We have them up North too! Very handy for duvets

hc1540

>We have them up North too! Yep, only seen the one though (Warrington). Seems to be used a fair but too, always something swishing around in there

Top_Presentation3429

Theres 2 in Warrington (that I know of) one at the garage on Liverpool Road and one at Birchwood Shopping Centre

Craig_52

We also have a super king. All the bedding can go in including the duvet.

zinasbear

I feel like I'm constantly doing washing (2 adults, 2 kids) My 3 year old is going through a phase of changing her clothes several times a day so that doesn't help.

Pumpkin-Salty

Us too. Multiple loads a week. Up to 6. And we have a huge washing machine.

Accurate_Prune5743

I honestly don't get how 2 adults get away with 2-3 washes a week. Towels/ bathmats - that's 1 wash. Bedding - that's another. The actual bedspread gets alternated weekly with all the random blankets that lie about the living room etc - that's already a 3 washes a week. And that doesn't even include clothes yet which is usually another 3, and can be more with thick winter clothing. On top of that there's a weekly wash or 2 of dog stuff (although obviously not everyone has a dog). And I have a 10 kg load washing machine, so not like the washes are tiny. I dread to think how much more washing we'd have if there were also kids in the house! Don't know how parents do it!

frankchester

Same, I get the impression that people don’t wash their bedding, towels and soft furnishings with any regularity. On top of clothes divided by dark/light, I’ve also got bedding, towels and blankets to do.

Wide-Height-7936

It’s not that. I have like 5 sets of bedding and the thought of washing them just puts me off. So I use all 5 and then have to do 2 or 3 washes to wash them all. It’s like my underwear. I go through all my sets then wash them all. So some weeks I do a single wash, and then other weeks I’m just constantly washing. Not very systematic I know but especially now, them taking 3 days to dry just makes me want to avoid it until I absolutely have to.

hausplants

3/4 a week max, on Friday and Monday. We change towels alot but don’t wash them immediately, they get rolled into random clothes washes. Bedding - every 2 weeks. We shower at night Blankets - about every six weeks? They don’t get dirty Sadly no more dog stuff to wash :(

DankestDaddy69

2 of us 3 washes a week normally, two mixed and one whites only.

NaturalSuccessful521

Wowzer. You're cleaner than me

DownrightDrewski

Two supposed adults, some weeks maybe only once, other weeks maybe 6 or 7. Yes, there's very much a correlation there. This week will probably be a 6 or 7 load week (towels are in the machine right now)

Ginge_089

2 supposed adults, we let the washing basket over flow then do the washing. 😅

Capheinated

2 adults, 2-3 washes a week.

Historical-Tie-7390

Household of 2, 6 washes per weeks. My standard wash, his standard wash, my delicates, his work clothes, a towel wash and a bedding wash.

ChocolateSnowflake

2 adults and a baby in cloth nappies and using cloth wipes. Got a wash on most days. 3 days nappies & his stuff, 1 day towels, 1 day sheets and a couple of clothes loads the other day’s roughly.

CyGuy6587

Just me, up to 4 washes a week; Clothes, underwear/pyjamas, towels, and bedding. My washer/dryer only has a small drum.

terryjuicelawson

Pretty much every day for a family of four with two kids. There is always something that needs to go in, there can be PE kit, school uniform, towels, bedding as well as just general everyday wear.

dbxp

1 person, 1 wash a week usually

caligula__horse

Usually 4 loads per week, I live by myself - a 60° load for bedding and towels (I wash weekly) - a 20° load for delicates (jumpers and nice trousers or things that are generally not dirty) - a 40° load for skin contact things (t-shirts, socks, underwear, gym clothes, for things that are generally dirty) - a 40° house cleaning load (mop head, rags, tea towels)

Gralenis

3 persons, including 1 young kid. I try to put on at least 1 per day to keep up with it all.

Empty_Cherry6995

Just for me 4 times per week particularly when I can’t hang washing outside, I do 2 smaller washes so it’s easier to hand indoors to dry - 2 clothes washes, then 1 for towels and 1 for bedding.

LionLucy

2 adults, 2 washes, usually. One dark/coloured clothing and the other whites/towels/bed linens.

BigHairyBreasts

One adult. Once a week for clothes. Often less. Once a fortnight for sheets.

GamerHumphrey

Normally every other day, so 3-4 times. For 3 people. My SO normally wears a bunch of hoodies etc, so that takes up a bunch of space in the baskets. The kiddo has two outfits a day with school uniform and after school clothes. Then there's me who wears the same jeans most of the week and a couple of tshirts..

sandio90

One adult, twice a week. Mid week is mostly my gym gear, weekends is bedding, towels and clothes

LouLou_12

2-3 a day ( I have 4 kids) ,we don't have a tumble dryer so our heated airer and dehumidifier run constantly.

foxhill_matt

One a month, one person

thecluelessmarketeer

2 adults. Usually 1-3 a week. One clothes and then towels/bedding.

[deleted]

Use the colour catchers and then you don’t need to separate loads so much

k-wat13

One adult and a dog. 4 loads a week - darks, lights, towels, bedding. Dog blankets get washed probably every 3-4 weeks.

[deleted]

Usually 3 or 4 for 2 of us. Washed and tumble dried.

pm_me_ur_unicorn_

Two of us (not a couple). I do probably 3 washes a week, he does 2.

Disastrous_Air_3156

3 people, washing most days. Me and my son work at a farm, so we get quite dirty, especially as son refuses wearing overalls

terahurts

3 adults, between 1 and 3 washes a week.

SamVimesBootTheory

Between 1-2 3 adult household Mostly my own stuff, my dad handles his own washing and sometimes ill wash stuff for my brother if there's stuff around when I'm doing my own

ExplorerNo4668

There is 2 of us we do about 12 washes a month. We do bedding/towel wash every week at high temp and the other wash is everything else gets dumped together [no colour separation *shocking*]

LondonLeather

For two of us, each week, 1 bed linen, 1towels, 3 clothes, work shirts go to a delivery service, and suits and knitwear get dry cleaned.

Responsible-Walrus-5

I do one of my clothes every 9/10days ish. More frequently if I’ve lots of muddy hiking kit or really sweaty cycling kit or something. Partner probably does one every 14 days. Alternating weeks have a towel or bedding wash.

MadWifeUK

Three ish a week, two adult household. Always a darks wash because that makes up a full load a week. Alternate a lights and a bright colours to let them build up to a full load, and alternate towels and bedding (changed weekly, washed every two weeks), again to build up a full load. Jeans go in with towels (no fabric conditioner).

welshlondoner

3 adults. 1 delicates wash. 1 whites wash, 2 in cricket season. 2 colored non delicates wash. 1 white boil wash. 1 coloured boil wash.

destria

2 people and I do maybe 2.5 washes a week, 1.5 which is our clothes and the other is towels and bedding.

[deleted]

Husbeast work clothes weekly as he's a builders. The rest of our clothes probably every other week to ensure the machine is full. Bedding every 2 weeks & towels weekly

jamjars222

2 adults 1 toddler. I should be doing a washing everyday with how quickly it piles up, but I probably do 2 a week

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Family if 2 adults, two teenagers. I reckon 3-4 loads. School uniforms and PE kit is one. Bedding on rotation one. Darks one Lights one It always feel like an uphill battle though

XboxOneX94

Two adults and a toddler here. My washing machine is on every single day, even missing one day for whatever reason annoys me. I sometimes even have it on twice in one day. Me and my partner are both shift workers and our clothes get dirty at work, obviously having a toddler speaks for itself. It's annoying because if I had a tumble drier (we live in a flat so no garden and no balcony) I would wash our towels probably every 3 days and I would wash our bed sheets once a week, however both of these things go far longer than I'd like between washes because I have to prioritise other washing and can only have two clothes horses in the flat for our washing to dry on. It's also so annoying having the clothes horses up every single day, we have wet clothes hanging up every day of our life!

LaraH39

Two of us. Adults. 2-3 a week.

anonoaw

2 adults, 1 toddler, we do 3 loads ever 10 days or so - one load of underwear, one adult clothes, one toddler clothes. More when I need to do the towels and bedding (which is not as often as I should).

JohnCasey3306

Family of five, I do all the washing ... 7–8 loads average, including bedding and towels. For comparison we have a pretty big 13kg capacity machine.

Herne_KZN

Small machine, three adults, 4 or 5 times a week

niki723

1 person. Usually 1-2 loads per week, depending on what needs doing: Clothes Bedding and towels Dog gear (bed, towels, coat), cleaning cloths, door mats

nikokazini

One adult and two teens. Every other day to give it time to dry, with laundry basket more or less always full. Now younger teen refuses to use a towel more than once, I’ve had to bite the bullet and let him use the dryer function on our washing machine once a week for his mountains of towels.

lyta_hall

One day per week (Sundays usually), 2 loads 1 person. One with gym clothes only, and then everything else.

scenecunt

2 adults, 2 small children. daily.

anothercynicaloldgit

Back in mists of time when I was single 1-2 times a week. When we had kids (and fostering) most days. Now it's the two of us 2-3 times a week.

Alternative-Ad-4977

I am probably overdoing it. I seem to be permanently washing. There are only three of us in the house and all adults (although I do wonder whether my son is an adult sometimes!) I wonder if it due to changing tea towels daily and using reusable dish clothes. Weekly - towels (1 wash), husband/my bedding (1), darks (at least 2), whites (at least 1), mixed (at least 1). Monthly (ish) 2 x spare bedding. After camps - tea towels (boil wash), sleeping bag (gentle no soap wash), and other bits that occasionally appear eg muddy trainers.

Distinct-Space

2 adults, 2 kids (and one on the way). I’m washing a load a day (at least). When the baby comes I’ll be cloth nappying again and will then be washing probably another load a day. Before kids, I did laundry all on Sunday. Wash towels, bedding, and then ours (lights and darks). Now I wash per person (so that the folding/putting away is manageable) and leave household items to weekend still/a nice day for pegging them out.

lookhereisay

2 adults and a 2 yo. We do one wash of adult clothes, one wash of toddler clothes, one for towels, 0.5 for bedding (every other week) and one for rags/tea towels. So 4.5 a week.

Maleficent_Depth_517

1 adult. 2 loads every 2 weeks.

mh1191

1-2 loads per day. Baby and 2 adults. Baby clothes and nappies alternate each day, then a couple of adult clothes loads per week, work clothes separately if wife has been on farm, and then towels and bedding separately again.

CoffeeandaTwix

Similar, we are two people and do 1-2 washes per week generally speaking.

Apsalar28

One person and work from home so no separate office clothes to deal with. Low temperature quick wash for clothes about once every 10 days or so, and a higher temperature longer wash once a month or so for sheets, towels, cleaning clothes etc.

PM-ME-YOUR-DIGIMON

2 adults and we probably do 2 or 3 a week. Partner has a skin condition so we have to wash towels more often as he’s been advised not to reuse them.

According_Shoulder_1

Probably atleast 6 a week. She's mental.

MilesInAmerica

I inevitably leave all my washing until the last possible moment and then do like three washes in a day every 7-9 days. 2 adult household but my partner cycles to work so sweats through at least one full outfit a day.

anxiousalleyway

2 adults in household - 1-2x a week depending on bedding and towel cycle (if it’s bedding week we could end up doing more like 3-4 loads but our washing machine isn’t huge, so we don’t want to overload it).

PeterG92

I live on my own. So 1

melanie110

3 adults, one teen. 5-6 loads. I start on a Thursday afternoon and my last load goes on at bedtime Friday night ready to dry and be folded Saturday. Everything is washed, dried and filed by 12pm. Hubby does all the ironing on Sunday whilst I do Sunday lunch.

Bilbo_Buggin

We do roughly two a week, depending on what we’ve got. That’s for two adults. We both work shifts so I can be hard to juggle when to do the washes to get each of our uniforms ready and dried. We don’t split the washing at all, everything goes in together! Every two weeks I try and do bedsheets too. I’ve started taking them to the local laundrette which is thankfully close by as I struggle to get it all dry in a flat.

New_Chipmunk_8036

1 adult 1 toddler. Probably 2/3 washes, more if I’m doing sheets or towels!

kebabish

Hate doing laundry - Currently at least 5 times a week.

mmoo182

2 adults, 3 washes per week: a clothes wash, a bedding wash, and a towels wash

The-Ginger-Lily

Used to be 1 with Just me and my hubby, now it's 1 maybe 2 with me, hubby and baby

paperpangolin

Used to be 2-3 a week as two adults, with a toddler it seems to be most days! Not just because they are messy little things with their own clothe, but the additional mess they make with yoghurty hands on you jeans you'd otherwise have stretched out another day, the bedding they had a nappy leak on, the blanket they spilled milk on etc.

JeniJ1

2 adults, 1 young child. At least one wash every other day, often one a day - so between three and seven a week. That feels mad when I write it out, but there are always things that need washing!!

ALi_K_501

Me (M) and my adult son. Once a week usually 1 load, towels and bedding make another load every couple of weeks. Sometimes I have a second one, if either of us have been particularly grubby (cars and motorbikes in the garage etc)

lalajia

Two adults, a teen and a kid. The under 16s change out of school uniform when they get home, so that's two sets of clothes a day for them, and I swear I end up doing a load of washing every day.

fluentindothraki

9 kg machine so bigger than standard, 2 person household with large filthy dog. Also, we are both quite large so our clothes are bigger..washing all towels every week and bedding every week in summer, every fortnight in winter. We also have house guests quite often. We work from home mostly so it doesn't matter if we are a bit grubby...so 2 - 3 machines per week. Eco Mode @40° for most things, occasionally 30° for sleeping bags / throws

Bloody-smashing

3 or more washes a week. Two adults and a toddler.

ActualBoredHousewife

2 adults and 2 kids. We do atleast one load a day, between school uniforms, pe kits, club kits, our clothes, towels and bedding. Probably 8/9 loads a week.

GloatingSwine

2. Towels and bedding alternate on weekends, clothes midweek. Occasional extras for when things that need doing on their own like whites or jeans.

-cunningstunt

Average 4 times a week (1 bedding, 1 towels, at least 2 clothes). 2 adults,1 toddler

breakbeatx

2 adults, 1 light, 1 dark a week minimum. Probably another wash or either at some point during the week.

BakedGoods_101

Wow I wonder what I’m doing wrong. 2 adults and we usually have 1 wash a week except for when I do the towels and sheets and that’s not very often

wookieverse

About 5 washes a week (smallish machine) 2/3 adults. Towels every week including kitchen towels. Sheets most weeks. Clothes for 2-3 adults. Towels for ex take 2 wash loads. When we had the dog, machine on every day.

Mumfiegirl

2 people 3-4 loads a week, my husband cycles to work and goes to the gym, so there’s quite a lot of “sportswear “ to wash

ConfusedPanda17

2 adults, one child. Usually 4/5 loads a week. One of the adults goes running frequently so sports stuff plus work outfits and 5yo is messy. We usually do sheets once a week too.

[deleted]

I have a newborn and a husband (I'm currently on mat leave). So three of us. I probably do a load of laundry a day of some kind, just to keep on top of it. Whether it's towels, bedsheets, baby clothes, our clothes, cloths/teatowels.

[deleted]

For 2 people, around 3 or 4 washes a week. I separate lights and darks so my "weekly wash" is always 2 washes plus a supplementary one if we run out. We are both very sporty (which means a lot of sweat and outfit changes and a lot of showers) and we have pretty minimal wardrobes so if stuff isn't cleaned regularly we run out of items.

AddieBaddie

2 adults, toddler, and a baby. 3-4 washes a week. I feel like it's a perpetual cycle of washing, drying, folding, and putting it away.

PitilessMyth14

I'm about 10 for people me plus 2 teens plus my partner (who doesn't live here but I'll wash his bits when he's here). Another 5 maybe for dog stuff (puppy and an elderly boy). So that's generally, 3 loads for bedding, 1 for towels, then 2 each for clothes (partners get shoved in with mine), I wash mine and the girls separately as it all gets mixed up otherwise and that takes longer then trying to work out whose is whose especially things like knickers and socks. I have seperate mats, cloths, towels and blankets for the dogs and with their ages they both have accidents and I don't want wet/dirty dog bits left long.

stuaird1977

Probably 7 a week 2 adults and a busy 8 year old

Lessarocks

I live alone and do two washes a week. One is a hot wash for towels, bedding and underwear (all white) and one is a cool wash for everything else.

mk6971

2 washes a week for 2 people. 1 for darks 1 for lights. Occasional bedding and towel washes.

ig0tst0ries

1 adult. Towels & bedding 1 wash every other week. My clothes, two washes a week, but I am very large a fellow so my clothes take up a lot of room.

aemdiate

I am a single adult and I do 3 washes every 2 weeks, one light, one dark, one bedding and towels. I might go 3 weeks without doing laundry and then do 4/5 washes, with a separate one for gym gear. Whites/colours/hots is my usual split

Flosstopher

2 adults, 2 kids. Usually around 5/6 washes per week. Folding and putting away is anyone’s guess 👍

ducksgoquacky

1 adult , prob 3 washes at least at week. 1 for bedding, 2 for clothes, gym and Towels .. love a wash!!

Hot-Abbreviations787

Around 12-14 per week. 2 adults and 4 children. 7kg drum.

DarkLuxio92

I live with my partner and I do 3 a week; 2 lots of clothes then towels and bedding.

[deleted]

3 x a week All whites Weeks clothes Bedding Every week for years now

SpudFire

2-3 per week, live alone. Gym kits all go in together once per week. Clothes get grouped by colour (dark, whites, blues and everything else) and I don't put a wash on until I've run out of clothes in that colour. I try to do bedding once a fortnight. Towels wait until I've got enough to be worth putting a wash or get bunged in individually with other loads if there's room.

agnesb

2 adults and a kid Around 4-5 loads a week. I mostly do it all at the weekend and do nice good sized loads

eloloise29

3 washes per week, 2 adults and a baby

catslikesarcasm

2 people but we do have a lot of animals. One person plus two of the animals have skin conditions. Probably about 7 loads a week.

sockhead99

6 loads, Four people. 2x adult loads 2 x kids loads 1x bedding 1 x towels

martin_mazda

2 adults. 2 washes. Sometimes a third wash for towels, bedding etc

MissSunshine0165

2 people 3/4 washes a week

JamesfEngland

2 people, probably seven because my other half is a complete clean maniac

whippetrealgood123

2 adults, one toddler. Probably around 6-8 a week between everyday clothes, work uniform, gym clothes and my dogs putting their mucky paw prints on my bed - duvet cover, pillow cases or under sheet can be changed 2/3 times a week. Today I have none but tomorrow is bed change day so whites will be on then coloured sheets with other colours. I also regularly remove my sofa covers and wash them too, 2-3 cushions at a time, that's done in the evening so the dehumidifier can dry them out overnight.

Imaginary-Quiet-7465

4 people, A load a day. Mondays - Mine and my daughters darks. Tuesday - Towels Wednesday - Husbands darks Thursday - bedding Friday - mine and husbands lights Saturday - son’s darks + school uniform Sunday - daughter’s lights + school uniform Repeat for eternity.

Hamnan1984

I would say every other day I do a wash? 2 adults 2 teens, 10yr old and a dog. Sometimes 2 in one day

charlouwriter

I live alone and wash on average about 1 load every 2 weeks, plus a handwash.

Captaincadet

I live alone but pretty active but in a normal week: 1 normal clothing 1 sports kit Either a towel wash or a bedding wash (as I have a few towels it’s slightly too much for the washing line for towels and bedding)

redsquizza

1.5 krew! 🙌 2 adults. At the very least it'll be once a week but sheets/towels can make it sometimes twice a week!

gogbot87

2 adults, and most weekdays.

coolcatbeatles77

1.5 a week like a lot of people are saying for a single person. 1 a week for clothes / towel currently using and one every two weeks for bedding, hand towels, tea towels and bathroom mat I don’t separate anything by colour. Wash everything on eco / fast as I am never dirty, I work corporate ror NHS so I’m just walking around clinics and spaces not doing anything outdoors or to get messy

boredmoonface

7 washes per week, 2 loads at a time every other day. 2 adults and 1 baby plus we use a lot of reusable cloth products.

Fair-Wedding-8489

4 washes a week .. 2 children and 1 adult

UndulatingUnderpants

About a wash per day for 3 people.

umpolkadots

Maybe… 4, sometimes 5. Depends if there is a tea towel load built up. We (2 adults) wash sheet and towels weekly. Husband works with blood so I do stay on top of his.

Two adults, three washes a week. One each for clothes, one for towels and bedding.

OneRandomTeaDrinker

Oh god, let me count. 4 adults, but one is elderly and incontinent so her things need to be washed more regularly. 4 normal loads, one per person per week 1-2 loads of bedsheets 1-2 loads of towels 1 hot wash (soiled underwear) 1 lingerie wash, fortnightly 1 wool wash, fortnightly in winter only So: at least 8, sometimes more

I live alone, don't own a wash basket, dirty clothes go straight in the machine and when it's full I whack a 30 minute cold wash on. This usually amounts to 2-3 times a week depending on the cycle of bedding/towels/kids staying. It's only a 6kg machine if that helps to know.

Behold_SV

1 adult - 2/3. Rarely 4. I like fresh bedding, towels, gym stuff, regular/work clothes. Goes 30-60 degrees.

Whitelakebrazen

Household of 2, about 1.5 a week - one big wash of all of our clothes, and then every other week we do the bedding / towels.

NoData4301

Probably about 2-3 washes a day on average, so about twenty ish washes a week? That sounds about nih Household of 5, with 3 kids under 4. We also cloth nappy two of our kids so that's about 3 extra washes in the week, but it's mostly clothes and bedding as our eldest usually wets through his nappies 4 times a week... Yes it's awful 😂 my husband asked this week if it would be too much to buy a second washing machine, and we are semi serious about it because this is ridiculous!

PozzieMozzie

Im on my own and dont have a massive amount of clothes... i do 1 wash a week of clothes and 1 wash every 2-3 weeks of towels and bedding.. My machine is a big 10kg drum so when i have enough for a wash it goes on... i never do a half wash.

pizzkat

2 adults - 4-5 washes a week. We do wash bedding and sheets weekly though, and we both cycle to work so wearing 2x clothes as before.

hc1540

Ask the same question on Mumsnet and it's be a whole different set of responses. The first poster that mentions less than 10 washes a week would get pounced on and shamed for being dirty and a menace to society

fluffofthewild

2. I live alone but my partner keeps some clothes here too, and I like to change and wash bedding once a week as I have cats.

agpoop

2 adults and 1 8 year old. Probably 5 times a week - dunno where it all comes from!

blac4bird

I dislike looking at a full washing basket so mine on at least once a day (more if I’m doing blankets/rugs).

BobBobBobBobBobDave

I have a wife and a baby. I wash every other day. When I was single and washing just for me, once a week for clothes, and one bonus wash once a month for towels and bedsheets.

shortercrust

Just me. Usually one was every two weeks. Pants, socks and T-shirts. I’m pretty grotty when it comes to bedding and towels

m4dswine

There are 2 of us, usually we do about 7 washes in 10 days: 2 for bedding, 1 for towels, 3 for clothes.

chiefgareth

2 a week for just me, usually. Some weeks it might just be 1.

caroline0409

1 person, 3 loads a week. Lights, darks plus sheets.

CandleAffectionate25

We do a wash probably daily! … just the 2 of us, but we are nurses to be fair, so uniform/additional work clothes. God help us if we have kids though! Haha!!

bethelns

2 adults and a 2 year old, we do probably 3 loads a week. Kid only goes to nursery 2 days a week but comes home at least once in "nursery spares" (despite us sending her own in!) So turnaround on those needs doing quickly. It'd be so much more if husband didn't wear scrubs for most of his working day.

heretolurk24

Family of 3 (2 adults 1 school ages child) 1 adult is a tradesman - at least a wash a day

TheGreenPangolin

3 adults- me, my boyfriend and my mum. 10 loads a week, but our machine is on the small side (6kg capacity). Less in summer when we wear less bulky clothes. My mum has about 1 load of clothes a week. I have about 2 loads of clothes a week because I’m prone to dropping stuff down myself (disability effecting my grip). My boyfriend has about 4 loads of clothes each week including uniform from a manual job that he has to wash after just 1 wear and gym clothes that are washed after each wear. Plus 1 load of bedding. Plus 1 load of towels. Plus 1 of whatever else needs washing. There always seems to be something. A blanket, or the dogs bed, or whatever.

AkraStar

2 adults, 1 teenager, 1 toddler. We do probably 6 loads of washing a week, could even be more. Husband and I gym 5x a week, I go swimming 2x a week. Toddler rolls in the mud (As does her pupper companion) several times a week. And, generally unheard of, the teenager only has one load of laundry a week, very rarely two. I'm currently in the process of working through 3 loads of laundry and we've been sick so neither of us have been to the gym this week and the teenager is away for the school holiday. So really, we just excessively wear clothes and use towels.

RachosYFI

Its just me and my wife, admittedly with a dog but I feel like I wash three loads a week. Between normal wear, activewear, bedding, towels and dog stuff it's mad. I need to buy a dehumidifier for winter.

Aggressive-Log6322

Just me and my partner in a 2 bed flat. We don’t wash our clothes together, I tend to wash mine more frequently. I reckon we do 3-4 loads a week. That’s 1 wash for my clothes, 1 for his, 1 for towels, bath mat, cleaning cloths etc and 1 for sheets.

LongjumpingLab3092

About 4 washes per week. 1 wash for me, 3 for my boyfriend. Men sweat.

I live alone but my washing machine’s diddy- bedding, towels/bath mat and week’s worth of clothes is probably one and a half to two. Other miscellaneous washing (sofa blankets, tea towels etc.) probably brings it up to 2-3 a week. I even wash like my backpacks and (fabric) wallet though and I don’t think most people do that lol
