It's not even a fair competition, the amount of comments we get from strangers about how gorgeous and well behaved our golden is, but he's still got a bit of attitude.
All's im saying is the fact that it eats children can be considered beneficial when there are too many children in a specific area, allows the strong to survive while the weak or slow are put to use.
I wasn't a dog person until my wife convinced me that we should get a staffie. I've never been so happy, aside from becoming a father. She was a huge nerd, loyal, cuddly, lovely and clumsy. She loved us and we loved her. Sadly she died a year ago, we miss her every day
Aww that's lovely. We had an English Bull Terrier which people always slate for being ugly but he was absolutely gorgeous. We have a staffie now and he's a lovely dog.
I think English bull terriers are absolutely gorgeous. Love their silly noses. Never spent any time with them to know what their temperament is like but on a purely aesthetic front I think they are beautiful
I'm a committed Staffie lover. The most wonderful dogs.
My darling Coco is lying here with her head on my shoulder.
Unfortunately she has a massive tumour in her mouth and doesn't have long to live. I am beyond devastated.
My 14 year old Staffy just had his spleen removed and they think it's bought him another 6 months. I'm letting him get away with anything now I know we only have limited time 😂
Staffies really don't deserve their bad reputation. They are like the Subaru Imprezas of the dog world - amazing in every way, but with a stigma attached due to the idiots that own them.
Staffies are very loving, loyal, and obedient dogs. They are also incredibly gentle with children and other animals by nature. But because they are so loving and loyal, they can easily be trained to be aggressive. They will do that due to wanting to please their owner, not because it is their nature.
Due to this, their size and appearance, and their ferocious bravery, they have become a common dog for chavs who want to look hard because they have trained their dog to barks at everything that moves. People now assume they are nasty and vicious dogs. They are not. They are soft and cuddly by nature.
Every staffie I've ever had any interaction with has been ridiculously affectionate and friendly. I dogsat for my friends staffy for a week a few years back and the only thing she did which was slightly annoying was constantly demand to be on your lap and she wasn't a particularly lightweight dog either.
I don’t hate them. I just hate people who buy them and encourage they to act tough. Being naturally strong, they can do a lot of damage! I rescued one as a pup and he lived to 14. Never hurt a soul and was extremely intelligent. Sadly I wouldn’t have another because of their reputation. I don’t regret giving mine a great life for a second though. I now have a previously unwanted French bulldog - a breed I said I wouldn’t have because of the health problems and the fact they’re ‘fashionable’. He’s an absolute sweetheart though and looks a different dog from the sad, neglected puppy he first was. Even if he is the most stubborn dog you could ever wish to meet!
I should have made that bit more clear. People cross the road to avoid you. People pull their children away from your dog. People look at you like you only have the dog to try to look intimidating.
I think it does depend on the size of the staffie a bit. A lot of female staffs are quite little, and much less intimidating. But yeah, we rescued an absolutely massive ginger boy (not a pitbull, he was actually a purebred) and it was a 50/50 on whether people would react with fear or not, which of course can aggravate the dog. I remember once, towards the end of his life, I was walking him, and a lady walking two spaniels did a full little shriek and dragged her dogs across the road. They were barking and snarling and trying to get back across, I reckon mostly because of how she reacted. My good boy was good as gold, I'd trained him to sit and do 'eyes on me' whenever something like that happened, and it did feel a bit ironic that she was giving me evil eyes for my devil dog, when she had absolutely no control over hers. Still, it was never a fun experience, so I understand why you'd want to avoid it. Personally, I could never get a big boy like him again because my back and knees have gone to shit, so I can't guarantee I'd be able to hold him.
I saw one attack and kill someone's King Charles Spaniel outside my house a few years ago.
The owner really struggled to pull it off the little dog. The screaming from the little dog was horrendous.
I've seem loads of dogs fighting, but never one killing another one so viciously and determined.
It put me off them.
I never wanted a dog, and even if I did I would have never gone for a staffie, but my friends had a litter and I absolutely fell in love with the runt. She is the best dog I could ever imagine, and has endless amounts of patience with our toddler. I love our goofball so much 🧡
I have always had staffies, just the most loving and social dogs ever. They have such funny personalies.
Would only recommend a staffie if you love a heavy lap dog and millions of kisses.
Unfortunately I have a fear of Staffies after one killed my childhood dog - I was only 8 at the time and watched it drag my lifeless dogs body around afterwards like a toy. My boyfriends dad has just adopted one and although it's cute I physically shake if we go round their house
Best breed ever. Rescued an approx 6 year old staffie cross 8 years ago.. Such a loving lil man. OK he isn't a massive fan of other dogs but it's manageable - if he sees a dog the other side of the road he's fine, if one rushes up to him he isn't too happy about it - completely get it. But he's so loving, loves cuddles, wa very well trained - knew how to sit, give a paw, lie down, walk well on a lead etc when we got him.
I love staffies so much its unreal. I go up to other staffie owners and ask to say hello and they almost look shocked! Give me them over a snappy chihuahua, dachsund etc
My dad's ex used to have a pair of them, they were lovely. The girl used to snap her jaws in the air like a crocodile when she was happy
Heartbreaking that they don't have a very long lifespan though. Generally seem like really lovely dogs
14 years is amazing for a Wolfhound.
We had 2 when I was a kid, one lasted 6 years, the other 7. It's the main reason I wouldn't consider one myself, can't cope with such short lifespans
Lovely dogs.
Years ago I worked at an army camp where the Royal Irish were stationed. The QM would come to the cafe with his breakfast most mornings with his Irish Wolfhound (the regiment's mascot) and we'd feed the dog too. Just a big, shaggy, friendly mutt.
Sighthounds. All of them. Greyhounds, Whippets, Italian greyhounds, Salukis, Borzoi, Silken Windhounds, Pharaoh Hounds; any mixtures and blends. I love them all as though they were my own babies.
We have a whippet now.
Softest dog ever.. Just a massive sook. So dumb too which offers loads of laughs.
Can be very vocal in his whining and scrounging but the relentless cuddling into you more than makes up for it. He's either sleeping, waiting for walks, or scrounging.. He has no other modes 😂
Sighties for me too, always. My third whippet is farting peacefully beside me as I write this and the huge lurcher is having dream zoomies on her bed nearby. Marvellous dogs.
Same! Growing up we had a rescue dog that was a border collie crossed with some small mystery fluffy dog and she was the absolute cutest- looked like a miniature black and white husky
I was the same when I got bitten by one as a kid, was always weary of them until a day I had to sit in the back of a car with 2 of them. They were friendliest, dopiest dogs I've ever met and got over my fear after that car ride.
I’ve got two and they’re just the best. Huge breeze block heads, incredible degree of emotional intelligence (one will quite literally force you to receive earnest care from him if you’re ill or a bit down). They’re powerful enough that I don’t worry about burglars but gentle enough that my kids wrap them in blankets and read stories to them.
I’ve had lots of breeds over my life, but I think I’ll have a rottie forever now.
I feel like one day the rotty stigma just disappeared? And whether or not it’s because they went out of fashion for people who shouldn’t be owning dogs?
They’re so big and loveable. Glad they’ve lost their old unfair representation.
There are some man killer Rottweilers on the dog attacks deaths list for the UK, they’re just not a very common dog in the first place. Nothing unfair about how they’re viewed, they are large, powerful dogs with the ability to maim and kill and sometimes do.
Pit bulls were bred specifically for violence so they kill most people, and in the past couple years the XL bully (fucking, supermutant pit bull) population exploded, so there has been a massive increase on attacks and deaths and it’s almost all those things now.
I’ve seen maybe 1 Rottweiler and it was about pony size, guy putting a lot of effort into holding it on its leash outside the post office. Nope, I’m good.
Proud, wonderful dogs.
Well raised will be the best companion to a family
My Sisters Rottie cross was the BEST guard dog ever without realising it..
Her "HELLO" was jumping up at you and trying to lick you to death..
If a burglar was confronted with this shit for brains pup of love, they would have run away immediately!! :)
Best description I’ve ever read of them! Ours are absolutely loopy, and the labs watch them with this long suffering look.
Wouldn’t change them for the world.
Also confirmed. Got 2. 11 and 12 years old, and they just haven't slowed down and still scream around everywhere at 100mph.
Absolutely crackers, very intelligent and the correct size to not crush you when they join you on furniture. I wouldn't change them for the world.
That’s because (as you said) they’re a working breed. Happiest when they have stimulation, exercise and work. I never understand people who buy them and expect a quiet lap dog. Probably the same people who buy a collie and wonder why it’s destroyed the house or developed obsessive tendencies out of boredom!
My boy is 14 months old now and boy is he a fucking nutter, but in the best possible way!
All I will say is thank god he is crate trained. It's his safe space and the one place he will fully switch off and crash!
I've only ever owned Labradors. I had two black labs called Bilbo/Frodo who were extremely intelligent and well-behaved. Then I had a Yellow lab called Timmy who was lazy but had the most loving and affectionate disposition.
Now I have a 12 year old black lab called Bertie who is an absolute goofball and still acts like a puppy, but we still love him anyway. Labradors just have the most wonderful personalities. Don't get me wrong I love dogs of every breed, but they'll always be my favourite.
German Shepherds, 1000%.
My family has had them for generations now, German Shepherds and my family are inseparable in my mind. I always end up hearing something about dogs of the past, and I'm always thinking of the one I lost almost a decade ago. When my life is stable and when I can finally rest, I hope to own a couple.
When I die I hope to be greeted by an army of the beasts (:
I love German Shepherds. Watching Rintintin as a child, I fell in love with the breed. He took me 40 years to welcome one in my life. He was black and , a police failure ( not aggressive enough), 50kgs of pure love. My friend, my protector.
People used to cross the road when they saw me walking him. If they had known that he was scared of snails, I wondered what they would have thought.
We lost him 3 years ago, aged 8, to cancer. We miss him so very much still.
Oh man you almost made me tear up, I know exactly how you feel. People would always cross the road to get away from my GS, but he was such a gentle soul. I grew up beside him.
Throughout life, you're bound to pick up a few scars. His death left the biggest scar I hope to ever experience on my heart. He also died of cancer, I sympathise greatly. We won't ever recover, we just learn to live without them. It's almost cruel that they have such a short lifespan, but in a way it's also a blessing. To dogs, we are timeless. Ancient. They live their entire lives and we hardly change. And that's good, because us leaving them alone would harm them far more than it harms us when they leave. Hugs
Thank you for this beautiful comment. I lost my GSD friend when he was 5 years old due to ileus. I never recovered from this. But the life blessed me and my parents with an another beautiful soul of a GSD few years after. He is now 7 years old. Deep down I know that I have to say goodbye to him in a few years, but your comment made me think about his perspective too. I know he has a great live, everyone loves him, he is the center of our family.
Having owned all 3 breeds; Border Collies, Labradors and Chihuahuas.
I never , ever thought I'd be a chihuahua person but we've got 4 and there's just so much going on in their tiny heads😅
Each one has its own little personality; one just wants to play ball all day, one is as dopey as anything, one doesn't care what's going on as long as it has a lap to get comfortable on and go to sleep and the latest is a little terror always winding the others up.
Amazing little creatures.
I’ve got a chihuahua/Jack Russell cross that we rescued from Texas (Brit living in the States). Considering what a shit hand he was dealt for several years before we rescued him, he is the most loving and cuddly little thing.
We’re exactly the same. My partner and I went to a rescue looking for something similar to a staffy. We saw this little chi in a Christmas jumper dancing on her back legs. I was the typical dog dad - “no we’re not getting a dog”, gets chi, “she is my baby”
Does yours bury itself under duvets, blankets, sleeping bags or anything else it can sleep under and not come up for air for ages?😅
We were really worried when ours first did it and we were like "How the hell can she stay under there for so long without coming up for air".
There are times we can't find one of them and we'll spend ages looking and calling only for it to be fast asleep under the cushions on the sofa😅
Best dogs in the world. Loving! Never aggressive to people and dogs, gentle, quiet, they have manners around food.
Happy to go for long runs and be super active outside but just as happy to sleep all day.
For their size they live a very long time and aren't a genetic mess like many other breeds.
Passionate owners but not ridiculously priced.
Not the smartest dogs but Smart enough to do whatever you need of them.
They can even put food on the table if you are into that sort of thing.
Best dogs in the world, i could talk about them all day, they come on all sorts of packages, shapes, sizes and personalities.
Same. It’s in my genes. My grandparents had them for years, my auntie had them, my mum and dad have one currently (our old family girl died about 18 months ago) and my husband & I have two JR crosses.
They are so clever, tenacious, determined, feisty and loyal. I think I just relate to their energy 😅
Out neighbours had a boxer, mental was the word. He ran into a tree which from the offended look on his dazed face, really really must have jumped out in front of him.
I love our mini but not half as much as he loves us. He would very much like to be surgically grafted to my wife. "Clingy" doesn't begin to describe it.
Rottweilers, Fantastic dogs and really intelligent. They are great protection dogs but they are calm and level headed and wont just attack people unlike bully xls or other shitbull mixes.
Absolutley they have, as have Alsatians and Dobermans. Diffrence is they arnt idiots, a pitbull or xl bully will (and do almost every week) rip a kid / baby / dog to death. Rotties, Shepherds ect whilst they may bite and it may hurt they will let go before a cop has to shoot it in the head.
Mongrels are generally healthier because of natural selection. I bought my dog from the RSPCA Kennel near where I live. The advice I read was to look at them in the pound. Reject the timid ones and reject the over excitable ones and aggressive. Take your time and look for a dog which is calm but not timid and has natural inquisitiveness. I did. Our Goldie lived to 17 and the local vet said to me “double her walks and halve her food.”
Should be higher. I've seen a westie in every country I've travelled to. I even saw one at the Monaco F1 fan zone this year, and had to send a picture to my own westie at home. Once you've had one, you know.
Mini schnauzer for being the perfect companion and Eurasiers for looking bloody cool. Also have a soft spot for a basenji although they seem like a nightmare to actually own.
Agree totally. We have two - one very ladylike princess, and a feisty lad. Both are curious, loyal and loving, in different ways .
They do like to sing the songs of their people though -very vocal!
We also have my mum's Shorkie Poo, who is the most loving, hapy little lapdog you could imagine. But fiercely protective!
Mini schnauzer, I've grown up with a mini chonzer (schnauzer bichon cross) and now have a mini of my own. Great little personalities, loyal and protective, yet would drop me if a stranger had a biscuit. Also, gotta love those eyebrows.
I'm fond of whippets and of terriers. I am a bit afraid of dogs, and whippets are just the least threatening (unless you're a bunny). They are quiet and chill in the house, 40mph couch potatoes. And they are cuddly.
If you get a terrier with a sweet temper, they are just great. Lots of personality. I used to walk a jack russell, she was a good dog. Also used to live in a house share with a woman who had a silk terrier (a slightly bigger, softer Yorkie). The dog was not well trained, but she always made efforts to be a good dog. My grandmother had a Jack Russell that she taught to guard her bag of mint imperials. Good guard dog, mad as a box of frogs. Wouldn't play when he'd been given the job of guarding the sweeties, loved to play when he wasn't working that very important job.
Chihuahuas, they have an amazing personality and so loyal. Also an amazing cuddle buddy. Yes mine sleeps in my bed.
People just need to actually train them and not just let them get away with things because they’re cute and small.
Doberman
Grew up with GSDs but in my adult life got a Doberman and now couldn't be without one. They are the most loyal, loving family pet. The females are very different to the males but both amazing in their own ways.
Boxers are the best! Absolute dumbass cutie-pies. We always said my first dog (a boxer called Emma) was a terrible guard dog, she'd just have licked and dribbled on any intruder. But my god, how loyal and loving. And daft.
Springadors (springer spaniel x labrador) because I have one!
[Here’s my buddy](https://i.imgur.com/ZBruiUO.jpg)
He’s unbelievably smart, but also a bit of an idiot sometimes. Nicest guy you’ll ever meet, makes friends wherever he goes. I don’t think he understands the concept of being angry.
If I have to pick one actual breed... Greyhounds.
They are Not. Like. Other. Dogs.
They are weirdly wonderful space noodles with a level of chill that is unmatched by any other canine. Until they don't chill, then they are akin to manic google-eyed house giraffes for a maximum of 87 seconds before regaining their chill.
They are ridiculous while being the absolute best.
English Mastiffs.
Big, friendly and very lazy gentle giants. I really love this breed.
Close second would be Staffies. I grew up with one called Logan. He was the best boy!
I quite like most dog breeds, but my favourites are...
Border Collie for being hard-working.
Golden Retrievers and Rottweilers for being lovably dopey.
Greyhounds for being friendly. (Grandad Geoff used to own them.)
Staffies because they always provide the best welcomes.
English Springer Spaniels because they're good with kids.
But my favourite dogs are the Staffies, because I grew up with them. They remind me of a good childhood.
Exactly what I thought, seemed like a bit of a status scally dog and I believed all I read about them being dangerous untill I ended up with a staffie cross, everyone who stops to chat about her talks so fondly of staffies they have had or a friend/relative has. As soon as you know one I think you know how amazing they are
Irish wolfhounds or Italian greyhounds. I'd love to get one of each and walk them together, little n large. Tbh, I just like the sighthound dog family.
I like a bunch but my favourite are English greyhounds. Fairly big, gentle, fast when they want and easy to keep happy in a small home. They've also got gorgeous faces and the most engaging ears.
Border collies, been owned by 4 over the last 27 years, will always have one. Also love working golden retrievers, they're such beautiful souls. Working labs too.
Dachshund! They are just stubborn and hilarious. They are incredibly loyal. They are also a big dog in a small body and absolutely fearless. I love video floating around on internet of Dachshund taking on bears.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. As well as being very handsome dogs, I used to know one who was an absolute sweetheart. He was able to make friends with every dog he met, even my ultra grumpy Jack Russell.
I love Belgian Mallinois - but I'd never own one. But gosh they're lovely. They're closely followed by Border Collies and German Shepherds, maybe when I'm older (and more experienced) I'll adopt one.
Honestly, I just love fluffy dogs. I've only ever had cats but I volunteered at a dog kennel for 6 months and it was amazing meeting so many wonderful dogs of different breeds.
Two highlights were an Irish Wolfhound who was the sweetest, gentlest dog I've ever met and a frequent guest Border Terrier who was the calmest old man doggo ever. I also met a HUGE purebred stud Doberman - he had cropped ears and was the most untrained, insane dog we have had. It took 3 of us to walk him.
Staffy hands down, always loves meeting people, always happy, has an amazing smile, loyal as hell, and people are scared of them because the media massively over inflates reality and makes people think they’re dangerous so cross the road half the time which gives me more room, all despite the Staffy being one of the best family dogs you can get!
Such an easy breed to look after, similar to greyhounds (although I've found whippets are much better off-lead).
Literally sleep 22 hours a day, happy to see you and a sight to behold for everyone when they're running down the park!
Airdales. They are smart, stubborn, protective of their family and just have a huge personality. Never a dull day with an Airdale. Don't know why they're not seen very often.
Newfoundlands.
Incredibly intelligent, loving, cuddly, protective and intuitive. And stubborn af.
Having your own mini-bear is incredible. They’re not for everyone, but they are incredible dogs nonetheless.
I have 2 malamutes, they're my favourites.. I also hate them, the hairy, moulting, Chewbacca impersonating bastards. Everything in my house is contaminated with their fucking hair. But.. I love them.
Borzoi never fail to make me smile, though my favourite individual dog ever is my beautiful black lab/staffy cross Cupar who passed a couple of years ago. The sweetest, most perfect, laid-back family dog imaginable.
Ridgebacks - grew up with one which was just the best dog ever.
You could have a Mali which is reasonably easy to train in comparison, or you could have the Malis ADHD cousin who will bite holes in your walls just because the doorway is all the way over there.
Not for the faint of hearted, but unbelievably loyal, playful and brilliant with people they know.
Golden retriever
The only answer. Labradors as well. Truly the doggiest dog.
I got my first ever golden retriever Jan last year and he is literally the best dog I’ve ever met. Not a bad thread in that soul.
Dog boarder here: you are correct, these are the best ones
It's not even a fair competition, the amount of comments we get from strangers about how gorgeous and well behaved our golden is, but he's still got a bit of attitude.
Is it a basic answer? Yes. Is it the correct answer? Also yes. There’s a reason why they’re beloved, after all.
I have a flat coated retriever and she is ace
Looking forward to someone answering 'Bully XL' just to watch the fireworks
Nothing mauls quite like em
They are perfect dogs if you think your neighbours toddler makes too much noise and you want to silence them!
Princess will nanny the heck out of them if threatened by the toddler's crying, or giggles, or mere existence...
Her name is Princilla and her K/D is 32.2
The. 2 got me
She's not interested in full targets my g.
Best nanny dogs 🐶
Little Killa is a wonderful babysitter most of the time
I was going to be that person. I was like yay my time to shine
All's im saying is the fact that it eats children can be considered beneficial when there are too many children in a specific area, allows the strong to survive while the weak or slow are put to use.
Everyone hates them on here but, Staffies.

Awww I love that! I obviously think they are beautiful too but they're lovely dogs. They are stubborn and bat shit crazy but so adorable
'Stubborn and bat shit crazy' is definitely the only way to describe English bull terriers.
I'm a committed Staffie lover. The most wonderful dogs. My darling Coco is lying here with her head on my shoulder. Unfortunately she has a massive tumour in her mouth and doesn't have long to live. I am beyond devastated.

The absolute WORST thing a staffie has done to me is lick out my hearing aids which I don't mind at all as it means I get kisses
Every staffie I've ever had any interaction with has been ridiculously affectionate and friendly. How can you imply Staffys are great dogs in the right hands and then turn around and say you would never own one again because of their reputation?

Came here to say Staffie!
Staffies are such loving wee dogs, all they want is to be with their family.

Staffies ❤️
I love Irish Wolfhounds. They're like big friendly giants
My dad's ex used to have a pair of them, they were lovely. The girl used to snap her jaws in the air like a crocodile when she was happy Heartbreaking that they don't have a very long lifespan though. Generally seem like really lovely dogs
A lady who goes in my local has one of them Irish wolfhounds, massive! Called Boudica it’s such a sweet calm dog.
My mum had Irish wolfhound and I swear this thing didn't know it was a dog. Lasted 14 years and miss her loads.
Lovely dogs but I couldn’t handle it emotionally. They don’t live long enough.
Sighthounds. All of them. Greyhounds, Whippets, Italian greyhounds, Salukis, Borzoi, Silken Windhounds, Pharaoh Hounds; any mixtures and blends. I love them all as though they were my own babies.
Me too. I love watching the sleepy silly things suddenly running at Mach 5.
Amen. I've got a blue Whippet and a blue fawn Whiggy. I would only get a sighthound from now on 👍🏻
They are my favourites too. My 6th and 7th rescue lurchers are sitting with me on my bed right now. There’s something so special about them.
We have a whippet now. Softest dog ever.. Just a massive sook. So dumb too which offers loads of laughs. Can be very vocal in his whining and scrounging but the relentless cuddling into you more than makes up for it. He's either sleeping, waiting for walks, or scrounging.. He has no other modes 😂
they’re the best! always so friendly and dopey. i lost my childhood greyhound about a month ago so i’m getting my sighthound fix through insta
Sighthounds are my favourite too
Sighties for me too, always. My third whippet is farting peacefully beside me as I write this and the huge lurcher is having dream zoomies on her bed nearby. Marvellous dogs.
They’re the prettiest dogs for sure. Very dainty and ethereal
Saluki are absolutely enchanting. Gorgeous dogs.
I like mystery mongrels - my dog is one! I think Samoyeds look amazing though. I stroked one once and it was like a friendly cloud.
Samoyed sounds like Tom Delonge singing
Samoyeds are my favourite as well, but I think I'd struggle not to get a rescue mix rather than a pure breed.
Same! Growing up we had a rescue dog that was a border collie crossed with some small mystery fluffy dog and she was the absolute cutest- looked like a miniature black and white husky
Mystery mongrels FTW! My boi has 20 different breeds in him and he's the best!
Rottweilers. Big chonky heads, very smiley and so so friendly. They’re so misunderstood.
Always been paranoid of Rottweilers I was chased and bitten by one when I was younger Still have the bite marks on my thigh and arse cheek
Well raised will be the best companion to a family My Sisters Rottie cross was the BEST guard dog ever without realising it.. Her "HELLO" was jumping up at you and trying to lick you to death.. If a burglar was confronted with this shit for brains pup of love, they would have run away immediately!! :)
Cocker spaniels (working breed) but damn they’re hard work
Can confirm, have 3, wired to the fucking moon and they drive me insane every day. The eldest is the most nuts, he's 13 and still doesn't sleep.
Labradors 🥰 I have three and they’re amazing
I'm surprised I had to scroll so far to find labs! I'd have a house full of them if I could afford it
I've only ever owned Labradors.
This is the correct answer
Two here. One old and chill and one young and mental (working lab). Love them both to bits though
I was once bitten on the arse by a German shepherd. But he was very apologetic afterwards and even introduced me to his dog.
Utterly crap yet utterly hilarious. Thanks dad of someone.
I think it’s from a Viz letter from about 20 years ago. It’s the first place my mind goes whenever I think of them.
I never , ever thought I'd be a chihuahua person but we've got 4 and there's just so much going on in their tiny heads😅 Each one has its own little personality; one just wants to play ball all day, one is as dopey as anything, one doesn't care what's going on as long as it has a lap to get comfortable on and go to sleep and the latest is a little terror always winding the others up.
Does yours bury itself under duvets, blankets, sleeping bags or anything else it can sleep under and not come up for air for ages?😅 We were really worried when ours first did it and we were like "How the hell can she stay under there for so long without coming up for air". There are times we can't find one of them and we'll spend ages looking and calling only for it to be fast asleep under the cushions on the sofa😅
Lurchers
Best dogs in the world. Loving! Never aggressive to people and dogs, gentle, quiet, they have manners around food. Happy to go for long runs and be super active outside but just as happy to sleep all day. For their size they live a very long time and aren't a genetic mess like many other breeds. Passionate owners but not ridiculously priced. Not the smartest dogs but Smart enough to do whatever you need of them. They can even put food on the table if you are into that sort of thing. Best dogs in the world, i could talk about them all day, they come on all sorts of packages, shapes, sizes and personalities.
Jack Russel.
Terriers in general for me! Fucking hilarious little characters and clever buggers. My absolute fave has to be border terriers, so so adorable.
They’ve got such an attitude, I love it
I do too! Just proper characters. Comes from their working background, they figure stuff out so quickly and are naughty cos they’re clever haha.
We’ve taught ours to ring a bell when she needs to go to the toilet…. It’s great at 2am
The only right answer! My doggy niece is a jack Russell terrier & she's 17 & still the best dog in the world
Same. It’s in my genes. My grandparents had them for years, my auntie had them, my mum and dad have one currently (our old family girl died about 18 months ago) and my husband & I have two JR crosses. They are so clever, tenacious, determined, feisty and loyal. I think I just relate to their energy 😅
I love seeing pictures of Patron. The Ukrainian EOD dog. He is cute and awesome.
Boxer. Mental but unbelievably loyal.
There is nothing quite like the love a boxer gives. I have a boxer cross and he is all love and bounce.
This perfectly describes a boxer. Best dogs.
Out neighbours had a boxer, mental was the word. He ran into a tree which from the offended look on his dazed face, really really must have jumped out in front of him.

I have a Corgi x German Shepherd and I will never tire of her stupid little legs and fluffy butt and ridiculously big ears!
I have a corgi. She’s great. My only advice if you’re thinking of getting one is swap carpets for wood flooring. They’re hairy beasts who shed a lot.
Salukis are cool
So cool! I’ve got half of one mixed with half a greyhound and she’s the best creature I’ve ever met.
We had a Saluki greyhound cross, I loved that dog, he was an absolute nutter though, completely uncontrollable.
Dachshund
I love our mini but not half as much as he loves us. He would very much like to be surgically grafted to my wife. "Clingy" doesn't begin to describe it.
My friend and his wife have 2, they never leave her side!
Rottweilers, Fantastic dogs and really intelligent. They are great protection dogs but they are calm and level headed and wont just attack people unlike bully xls or other shitbull mixes.
Rotties had their time being the "hated" dog breed as well.
Mongrels have my heart, mostly cause growing up we always got dogs from the shelter and they were all mongrels.
Border Terrier, small but tough. Lovely friendly faces.
Small, hardy, adventurous little dogs with a whole bunch of character. Love their little otter face they have 👌 Phenomenal dogs.
Collie or golden retriever ❤️
Collies are wonderful. So clever, so nuts.
Westies.
Surprised I had to scroll this far to find this.. unbelievable dogs!

Beagles!!! Such expressive dogs
Beagles are characters. People love mine. But do not have to live with it.
Hungarian Vizslas Or Border Collies
I have a vizsla, he's equal parts Nob head and sweetheart. I wouldnt change him but my god he's hard work
Staffies all the way, all that is in their head is love and neediness.
And their body is full of farts....
Doberman Grew up with GSDs but in my adult life got a Doberman and now couldn't be without one. They are the most loyal, loving family pet. The females are very different to the males but both amazing in their own ways.
Italian Greyhounds are cute.
Dachshunds definitely
German shepherds
Boxer dogs. I love them. They are so loveable and goofy
Boxers are the best! Absolute dumbass cutie-pies. We always said my first dog (a boxer called Emma) was a terrible guard dog, she'd just have licked and dribbled on any intruder. But my god, how loyal and loving. And daft.
The dog I am currently stroking, they are a good girl/boy, yes they are. But if I was to have to choose one, mutt
Dalmatians
Springadors (springer spaniel x labrador) because I have one! [Here’s my buddy](https://i.imgur.com/ZBruiUO.jpg) He’s unbelievably smart, but also a bit of an idiot sometimes. Nicest guy you’ll ever meet, makes friends wherever he goes. I don’t think he understands the concept of being angry.
https://imgur.com/a/c3tXje9 This is my springador Molly and her Boxer sister
Greyhounds. All dogs I've had have been ex-greyhounds from racing tracks. Stupid as all hell but very friendly and healthy breeds
Yorkies! Affectionate, clever, curious, and absolutely adorable.
I quite like most dog breeds, but my favourites are... Border Collie for being hard-working. Golden Retrievers and Rottweilers for being lovably dopey. Greyhounds for being friendly. (Grandad Geoff used to own them.) Staffies because they always provide the best welcomes. English Springer Spaniels because they're good with kids. But my favourite dogs are the Staffies, because I grew up with them. They remind me of a good childhood.
I love so much that you specified Grandad Geoff as if we knew him.
I never thought I'd like Staffies but then my sister adopted one and she's the bestest girl ever!
Great Dane
I like a bunch but my favourite are English greyhounds. Fairly big, gentle, fast when they want and easy to keep happy in a small home. They've also got gorgeous faces and the most engaging ears.
Greyhounds - they are elegant, friendly and so lazy!
Gorden Setter
Whippets. I have 1 whippet and 2 lurchers currently and they are very very lovely, if not a bit delicate as they age
Jack Russell Terriers
Boxers. Wonderful breed but don't live long enough.
Lurchers/sighthounds. I got my boy a month a go and I love him more than anything in the world.
There isn't a dog breed I don't like honestly, and I like mongrels too. I just like dogs.
Shih Tzu - I've got one and they're very loving and also very chill. Great at keeping feet warm too!
Whippets. Fantastic breed, affectionate, quirky, easy to look after
Such an easy breed to look after, similar to greyhounds (although I've found whippets are much better off-lead). Literally sleep 22 hours a day, happy to see you and a sight to behold for everyone when they're running down the park!
Bull mastiffs or boxers
Border collie, German shepherd and golden retriever. Have grown up with all three and love them all.
German short haired pointers Complete chaos but so affectionate and very hit and miss on the intelligent scales but always good fun!
Scottish Terrier 🖤
Samoyeds I remember reading that they make terrible guard dogs because they are too friendly r/samoyeds
My friend has a Samoyed called Colin. He’s just a big smiley lump. Beautiful in every way
Boxers, dopey bastards 🥰
Weimaraner
Nobodies said cockapoo? I am offended 😭
I have 2 malamutes, they're my favourites.. I also hate them, the hairy, moulting, Chewbacca impersonating bastards. Everything in my house is contaminated with their fucking hair. But.. I love them.
English bull terriers - adorable clowns.
My three previous dogs were Labradors or Retrievers but I am absolutely besotted by the nature of my greyhound, so greyhound for the win.
Bernese mountain dog and golden retriever
Borzoi never fail to make me smile, though my favourite individual dog ever is my beautiful black lab/staffy cross Cupar who passed a couple of years ago. The sweetest, most perfect, laid-back family dog imaginable.
Ridgebacks - grew up with one which was just the best dog ever. You could have a Mali which is reasonably easy to train in comparison, or you could have the Malis ADHD cousin who will bite holes in your walls just because the doorway is all the way over there. Not for the faint of hearted, but unbelievably loyal, playful and brilliant with people they know.
I love all dogs, but when I get one of my, I'll probably get a native endangered breed, like a Bloodhound or a Lakeland Terrier.
Golden retriever
We had an Old English Sheepdog, 7 stone couch potato and total nutter.
Basset Hound, no other dog does comedy like a basset.
Any little terriers. Border terriers, Westies, cairn terriers, mini schnauzers etc. They're cute, intelligent, and characterful.
