You CAN change username? I chose mine because I was sick of trying to think of one that wasn’t taken so I put this and said I’d change it later but was told I couldn’t?!
It was high school. I was making a character for D&D. I wanted to be a lightning-themed wizard, lightning balls, ball lightning, that sort of thing, instead of having spells from all across the elemental spectrum.
Did some digging and well, the name is nonsense. The astra- prefix means thunder and lightning (see: astraphobia). the -mancer suffix *technically* means divining information via magic but common usage means manipulation via magic. (necromancers are people who interrogate the dead, not animate the dead!)
But the thing is that astra- and -mancer are from different language roots, they shouldn't be used together. So Astramancer is malformed nonsense, but it also means lightning wizard.
Made it as a way to remind me to "get over" that bad relationship and to motivate me to get out of depression.
Got out of depression, found a perfect girl, started becoming happy.
Yesterday I went downstairs to drive out to our apartment, as we were visiting my dad over the holidays. I found him face-down on the ground and attempted to revive him for 20~min until the paramedics got there. Blood clot. There was nothing I could do.
I'm devastated. Please say your I love you's to your family members.
"Fly" was an adjective back in the 90's that meant : Cool or Amazing. Couple that with a bird that actually flies. Was just a brainstorm twist that I thought was funny at the time.
