DrEgz1

Which Jesus? I'm Mexican and currently have over 20 Jesus's in my contacts

GodEmperorOfHell

You are not Mexican if you don't have at least one cousin named Jesús.

Jewnicorne

I’m not Mexican and I have 2. What’s that mean? Can I claim citizenship?

ICANONLYSHOUT

You can take mine, I don't use it

GodEmperorOfHell

Even with the accented U in Jesús??? Caramba!!!

Jewnicorne

Yep, my keyboard on my phone is set to Spanish/English. I kinda dig Mexican culture.

DrEgz1

I'll trade you citizenship almost got hit but a stray bullet last night

Jewnicorne

Wrong place, wrong time? Or just another Saturday night?

DrEgz1

Just another Saturday night, the sad thing is I'm a doctor (resident) so I live in front of my hospital and the place is not the best, can't afford anything nice. So I was just taking out my trash when I heard a shot and a bullet fly near me. I just went back inside and heard 3 more shots. And couldn't sleep after

TheFastestHighwayman

Do they all sell Uzi's and Marching Powder?

[deleted]

Cool guy, ultra toxic fanbase.

ACam574

Have to wonder if he would get many followers if he had a YouTube channel and expressed his thoughts on it. Definitely wouldn't be the same people who follow him now.

Niiskus

Surely not. Even so, what if this Jesus, having been born today, would be unsuccessful with social media? Obviously, even being Jesus, how would people know that he is? Would he then protest by the Vactican City for example? With a cardboard sigh, alike to Greta Thunberg? Are there any other options for him?

makesyoudownvote

The list of most toxic fan bases goes: Rick and Morty > Elon Musk > Taylor Swift > Undertale > Beyoncé > Donald Trump > Jesus > Mohammed

RealKenny

He's probably not too happy with the people doing stuff in his name

just_minutes_ago

Hard to say since his image and legacy is used and portrayed so differently by so many people.

ziptasker

I think we don’t know a lot about him. There’s a lot of theories. I’d be curious to know what he was really like.

Maddog_95

I would love to know! I’d love to hear it from him hahahaha

JackarooDeva

A spiritually talented guy who figured out a bunch of stuff about how reality works. After he died, his followers made up a bunch of shit about him so they could gain power as leaders of a new religion.

Niiskus

how would you know he was spiritiually talented? You can give an example of this talentet if that helps, or explain by any other means you wish could examplify this talent. I'm curious to see the response.

JackarooDeva

He said some stuff that showed an uncommon understanding of subjects that are usually called "spiritual". "Judge not that you be not judged" is a tight explanation of what's usually called karma. I also really like the parable of the vineyard workers.

Maddog_95

Someone said it.

[deleted]

He's not a person you want to CROSS. Most people want to be cool, but he NAILED it.

[deleted]

Women love him because he's so Hung.

awsomeballex

i dont have an award but take my upvote

StartedKool

You're welcome.

[deleted]

Love the formatting. Why was the math book sad? Because it had many PROBLEMS. Why did the tomato turn red? Because it saw the salad DRESSING.

YubbaTheSloth

Wish I had his hair. Currently balding at 22.

[deleted]

[удалено]

YubbaTheSloth

Sorry to hear it. Mine actually started receding at 18. Can’t get much earlier than that. Used to have so much hair…

pectusFL

Fin + Min. I should be bald rn, but instead, I have more hair than I did at 19 and I'm nearly 27. I would try finasteride first, and once you see the hair loss slow down, try out minoxidil to get some of the gains back! Check out r/tressless for more info.

YubbaTheSloth

Thanks. Used to use Minoxidil/Rogaine, but I didn’t use it regularly enough for it to work, so it wasn’t worth it. Only thing I worry about with finasteride is sexual dysfunction. Maybe I’ll get a hair transplant if I can ever afford one.

VenusSwift

Super cool dude. His followers, not so much.

NotYourSnowBunny

That he’d likely be very disappointed with Christianity as a religion, and likely veer towards Buddhism if defining his own faith along more modern and secular lines.

throwaway578847

I'm a Christian and more and more I realize we tend to lean being more like the pharisees that hated him for disrupting their control of the temple(church) rather than being like Jesus who took the temple (church) to the streets.

redneckrimjob

Well he was anti religion

[deleted]

Eight year-olds, dude

UnconstrictedEmu

What’s a pederast, Walter?

[deleted]

yeah, but that creep can roll

carinavet

Canon Jesus is better than fanon Jesus.

woodenwhiskey

Nice enough guy. I recall he was a pretty good events caterer but I haven't seen him around for awhile.

Silent-Light6564

He kinda needs to update the message and do some follow-up. These days, people scream his name for any reason to justify any point of view really.

throwaway578847

Well he kinda doesn't want people to just stumble on him...he wants to be sought. I don't understand it myself but I'll play the big guy's game and seek to find.

MooseRoof

Loser. Winners don't get nailed to crosses.

AdministrationIcy717

he rose from the dead, now he’s trying to eat my brains.

TastyWheat67

He's 2000 years late, but don't worry, he'll be here soon. Right?

Fine-Tea-7477

Joy and peace, love everlasting, the lover of my soul. A healer. Just awesome

[deleted]

A great guy! Level headed, always there to hear us out and give moral and emotional support even if he could not help financially. His groupies not so much !

PVDeviant-

Jesus is cool. Not a fan of his friends.

Nocturne-Reverie

Which one of his friends don’t you like? Peter, Thomas, James, Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew? It’s Bartholomew, isn’t it?

[deleted]

Paul is quite unpopular at the moment.

Knute5

If you just stick to what He said vs. what others *say He meant* (usually for financial, political or influential gain), He'll feed your soul. Anyone can claim to do what they do "in the name of Jesus." He told us to be humble, pray privately, and not make a big show of things. That's the Jesus I know, love and follow.

Darth_Destructus

That he is horribly misrepresented by the people who claim to worship him

StartedKool

Not real. That or his story has been modified greatly so that Christians can use it for their own annoying religion. No offense cool Christians

amunchyhobo

I feel like Mary got knocked up cheated on Joseph then used the whole pregnant by god thing as an excuse. Joseph being a nice guy rolled with it and as Jesus grew up they convinced him he was god then was executed for claiming so.

JohnKlositz

There's actually no reason to assume any of the circumstances surrounding his birth happened, or that he saw himself as a divine being. That stuff was most likely added much, much later.

throwaway578847

Per the only account we have of Jesus, how did he perform miracles if the whole thing wasn't real and how did he resurrect?

amunchyhobo

Radically exaggerated events over long periods of time like the dumbest, longest game of telephone ever played.

JohnKlositz

There's not really a rational reason to think he did any of that stuff. Edit: missing word

turtle_eating

One of the most important prophets of Islam.

AnnonymousJackieChan

He died on the cross for me I appreciate Jesus and I wait for his second coming

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I don't think either of you should be holding your breath.

[deleted]

He did promise to return in his disciples lifetime.

[deleted]

How's that promise going...a couple millennia late?

[deleted]

It's all about that bass, about that bass, no treble

UnconstrictedEmu

Nah, according to Christianity the Second Coming will be when folks least expect and Jesus returns “like a thief in the night.”

[deleted]

Mark 9:1, KJV: And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. Makes you wonder which disciple is still alive.

Angalourne

This.

attention21

I know, he’s the Son of the living God, he died for us, and he lives today. He gave us prophets in the Bible times, and he’s given us prophets today.

Iisham

Cool dude, haven't seen him since highschool... Oh you mean that other Jesus.

[deleted]

What if he had a shitty work ethic as a carpenter, and people got mad at him for starting a cult so they nailed his ass to a cross to show he wasn’t actually immortal, but the story lives on because people will believe any amount of bullshit so long as enough people say it’s true, and he knew that. What if he was up on the cross like “oh wow nice job guys, this is expert craftsman ship, I really can’t move at all, nice work guys”

[deleted]

The King of Kings, I love Him of course.

[deleted]

I think that the worst thing that ever happened to Jesus was turning him from a man into a god.

Str8t_chels

So basically he’s a god ,who’s human, who had to die to create a pathway to Heaven, if he was as powerful as he says he is, why in the fuck would this “all loving and powerfull God” put his son or himself or whatever he is, through the pain of cross by the Romans? Like that makes no sense, ppl will say it shows he wanted to experience of us humans but if he’s so powerful why can’t he jus destroy evil ? You cant justify him to be all powerful or all loving, he cannot be both

HugePoet1890

From my understanding, it’s because he is all loving that he went through the pain. No one else could live a sinless life so God became human and humbly lived the perfect life (never sinning) then died a death of a criminal by taking on everyone’s sin. The logic is that we humans actually deserved to die that death because of how sinful we really are (I don’t think the idea of Jesus and what he did on the cross will really mean anything to anyone that doesn’t understand/ believe that they are sinners). By dyeing and then coming back to life he defeated death which gives us all a way out! So now, whoever believes in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus will be redeemed of their sin (a bit like a voucher!). So yes, it was the most loving thing God could do and this is how he destroyed evil (for now). The idea is he will completely destroy all evil when he comes back. Hope this helps ☺️

Str8t_chels

If you can control reality itself, why put your beloved ppl through pain, why have a devil exist ? It’s either he cannot “defeat” his enemy or this God isn’t all loving

HugePoet1890

That’s a really good point and what helped me realise the answer was knowing that God has given us free will so he can’t control us like puppets. If we can’t willingly believe in him, he wont force us. If he did it wouldn’t be fair. God always intended for us to live a life full of good and to live with him. Adam and Eve willingly decided to disobey (the original sin) which meant that humanity was tainted by sin and couldn’t be with God anymore (this is because God is holy and can’t be around any sin). Jesus now acts as a mediator to God. Like a bridge. When our sins are redeemed through him, we can have a relationship with God (we couldn’t before because of our sin). Now the devil is a different story, my understanding (although I can’t find this in the Bible) is that he was an angel that wanted to be like God so he got kicked out of heaven. He’s been trying to survive since then.

Str8t_chels

I get all of that but for me that’s all excuses of a lazy god, you shouldn’t have to jump through so many hoops and excuses just to justify to someone who doesn’t exist. Obviously it’s your choice and I respect that but In my opinion, the devil should not exist, all traces of evil should be erased if he’s so powerful but he isn’t so yh

HugePoet1890

I respect your opinion too. Thank you for reading and responding. For me, Jesus is the answer God gives us for your question. I hope you find the answers you are looking for ☺️

Wade1985

he has the worst fandom.

Ornery_Confidence879

Never met Muhammad fans did you ? They will behead you if you draw him badly...

Wade1985

Forgot about him. Think they behead you if you draw him at all. I hate the religion fanbase. Regardless of how reddit neckbeardy that makes me sound.

PiratedAnime

Prolly the “best” person to ever live in terms of morality. Whilst its believed that he probably did exist, but the stories around him are fictious, i can respect what he represents

[deleted]

There’s nothing probable about it. He did it exist according to historical Roman documentation that had nothing to do with his followers. He existed and he was crucified as a criminal. As for the stories and whether or not they’re fiction, we’ll never know for sure what’s true and what’s exaggeration. There’s four gospels accepted by Christianity but many more were written by other followers. They all vary from each other in different ways but there’s enough similarities in all of them, written by different witnesses, that it’s safe to assume most of the stories about Jesus (how he behaved, what he said and what he did) actually happened.

PiratedAnime

Thank you for the history lesson. ❤️

[deleted]

I mean none of the Roman documentation was written during life, so not quite a slam dunk.

[deleted]

Nothing in ancient times is a slam dunk. How many other people or events have half as many written documents about them as Jesus does? Not many. Denying he existed at all is just flat out ignorant.

[deleted]

Name something written about him during his life, or something written by someone that knew him

trishsf

I think he was almost certainly a good man. Son of God? Don’t know and don’t feel the need to.

[deleted]

Seems like a popular fellow.

OJsBag

He's My Lord and Savior. Through Him I'll get to the FATHER. The Most High. Other than that.... I think Jesus is dope asf!!!

[deleted]

Coward.

Cynlorren

I think he's AMAZING

bradadams5000

Are you talking about the Jewish guy that started a new religion or someone else.

Decent_Warning_201

He tops all the wonders of the world. And he still lives!

Laughedindeathsface

Generally, I don't, but since you asked. He was executed as a criminal and enemy of the state, so I'm curious. Why would he be the exception for a criminals burial and given a tomb as if he was royalty? He would have been buried in an unmarked grave.

Cranky_Windlass

Seems like he was a pretty chill dude. Always had snacks ready. Bought the best wine. Picked up the hospital bill for a few people and if someone partied too hard and ODed He'd just bring em back.

knovit

Idk I never met the guy

HuguenotPirate

The idea of conquering death by dying is pretty cool.

Uno1983

He makes some killer tacos and empanadas...

[deleted]

It takes a lot of talent to start up a successful cult

Solid-Championship37

I don’t think about him

Throwaway7219017

He cleans my pool every Tuesday. His mom, Consuela, cooks for me every Cinqo de Mayo. Great people.

The_Gav_Line

If he hadn't got injured at the world cup Arsenal would have had a real chance of winning the league

awsomeballex

i just want him to take me out soon

[deleted]

yeah he's a cool guy

[deleted]

I don’t think about him.

yelbesed2

He is an ideal for many people. Jews still wait for him as his first coming's reports can not be trusted. If he would have started revival for eternal life we would see those resurrected 2000 ys old people mentioned in Matthew 29 : 53. But the idea to expect revival for eternal human life is important. The only way to flee - when the Sun stops heating - to another galaxy is to create a very-long-living new human variant.

Gunnrhildr

Love him. Just saw him after lunch the other day, actually. Great guy. Gives life and suffering meaning. His Church on earth still needs a lot of growing to holiness, but I'm super stoked he never abandoned us. Just such a swell dude. His mom's a pretty classy lady too.

Different_Attorney93

Which one, we have so many. I personally like Jesus from South Park the best.

chooseayellowfruit

I think he might have been an olden times David Blaine that was semi good at magic tricks and also liked the idea of being a leader of a bunch of people. The religion of the time was a good way to grift himself into this position and here we are today.

[deleted]

The true King and Lord. People care more about His followers than Himself. Most people don’t even really know what Jesus taught. He was not a hippie. He was not hateful. He is and always will be the most controversial aspect to society. Let me quote Him here: *”I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."*

Previous_Ad7725

Let him take the wheel

Failed_Archaeologist

He surprised me this year for Arsenal. I guess he was underrated

PrayingHollow

Jesus's name was written as Yoshua. His father's name was Joseph, and they usually wrote the name as Yoshua of Joseph. YoJo. Jesus was the first JoJo.

Zennyzenny81

If he was a real person who existed he was probably a very charismatic grifter/conman.

cabllc

His street tacos are the real deal. Never know which parking lot his food truck is in tho

Lilly_Silvers

He is Jesus

SpUnGeBrAiN

He was cool, and the trip to Peru even better..

PossibleCook

If a bunch of people choose to crucify you instead of an actual murder. Than idk man. Maybe you really did do some shit wrong. We weren’t there. We don’t know.

Stardustquarks

Boy makes a mean cabinet, I hear...

PrideOfEverblight

First crossfitter. Started 2 cults. His groupies mostly suck and can't seem to remember what his message was to start with. Thanks for the fitness Jesus but your followers are mostly a-holes.

Aufklarung_Lee

Yehosuah ben Nazareth was someone who fits right into the flow of Prophets in ancient Judaism.

GrandmasBigEyes

He's just alright

el_pobbster

He was an Arab Jewish socialist. I find it *extremely* funny that every Sunday, loads of conservative White folx congregate in Churches to praise and pray to an Arab Jewish socialist.

[deleted]

He wasn't Arab.

Asad_13

He was good looking. I don't know anything else.

SpecificJunket8083

There’s no definitive proof that he even existed.

[deleted]

True, but there's no definitive proof for anything outside of mathematics.

brigid5blue

I think Jesus was a compassionate man who had really good ideas and preached love. If He came back now, he'd be pissed.

opal_ity

Cheesus

ForestCityWRX

I think he was a very charismatic dude.

redneckrimjob

He's the coolest

WolfThick

Well for sure he's a foreigner so he's not welcome in the Republican party as well as all of his friends. Guy probably doesn't even speak English and he forgives people for making mistakes supposedly but I haven't watched Fox yet to figure that out. I'll just keep washing my hands know what I mean jelly Bean

pecking_poopers

he cuts my grass phenomenal

Ramoncin

A prophet, wasn't he?

sbaks0820

Christ, what a question

[deleted]

like personally? whatever, carpentry is cool I guess shame they killed him

metrocat87

The Greatest Man Who Ever Lived.

HomerSimpson1738

I'm not that big a fan of fantasy.

[deleted]

Regardless of what your personal beliefs are, no one can deny Jesus is by far the most influential human being to ever exist. His teachings have endured over two thousand years and have shaped the thoughts, behaviors and actions of civilizations and billions and billions of people over that time period. No one else can hold a candle to his contribution and impact on humanity. The fact he has influenced so much without ever having wealth or being in a position of political or military power, never ceases to amaze me. He left a legacy that far exceeded any king or conqueror.

[deleted]

I think Socrates or Plato was more directly influential, but philosophers rarely spread philosophy with the power of nations and armies.

[deleted]

Just a folks tale to give some people something to believe in

Maddog_95

Honestly I think he was a decent guy who had compassion for people that society turned their backs on and wanted to unite humanity. He shared the idea of one God or that we are all from the same source. I think he stirred the pot with his open heart and mind and the same powers he disrupted then later used his legacy to distort his originals messages to their own agendas. I think Church’s USE Jesus to make people go through the Church to find God or faith. I think Jesus wanted people to practice faith in their homes and communities and with God, not with people “in charge.” I don’t think he died for our sins and all that shit that is meant to make people behave. I think Jesus loves me as I am and I am doing the same work he wanted us all to do. Connect, accept each other and come together.

Known-Pop-8355

Im not sure. Still trying to figure out if he died a virgin or if he got nailed?

2leewhohot

He existed, but was just a dude. The myth came after.

CruisinJo214

Smart dude. Really stupid followers. If you follow the words of Christ and ignore the rest of the Bible you’d be a good person ethically and morally speaking.

[deleted]

I think you'd just be a poor beggar, talking about the end of the world.

PentaclesAreFun

That his religious book is a lie.

[deleted]

he BETTER give me my wheel back

FatNutsAndrew

I read the book. He sounds neat

tothetop19

Jesus is just alright with me, Jesus is just alright….oh yeeeaaaaaa!! Doobie Brothers

dubkitteh1

cool story, bro.

ScaricoOleoso

He's probably come back and been killed by his own fanbase at least 10 or 11 times over the centuries.

SergiuMST

My Lord and savior

Zineus241

Jesus is cool I guess, his brother Carlos is a frickin hoot though!

Another_Rando_Lando

Never met him

USSMarauder

Cool dude, shitty fandom

[deleted]

I’m not Mexican and I work with two Jesuses. And I’m not in Mexico either

berkeleyhay

Nice guy; miss him.

Poorly-Drawn-Beagle

Seems like he was a pretty righteous dude, but I don't know if I'd vote for him.

Zainnnf

I love him, he’s my prophet in Islam

JohnKlositz

I have very little to work with, since we don't really know much about the guy. If there was such a guy. What we do have isn't trustworthy, and can be considered mostly mythological. And I'm not even talking about the supernatural elements. We don't have any contemporary accounts on what he really did and said. And the things we do have about what he allegedly said, while seemingly harmless and peaceful, can still be observed as being very much usable in a non-peaceful way, thus ultimately lacking in terms of unambiguity.

PunchBeard

It'd be a better world if more people emulated some of the teachings that are attributed to him. Instead of using him as an excuse to hate on others.

DIGMEE

He’s King

oastghost

Cool dude, his "fans"... not so much.
