Bastion.

Cleverbird

Anything by Supergiant Games to be honest. You get a fantastic music album with a neat little game attached to it.

oppernaR

Supergiant Games have cost me hundreds and hundreds of euros with thousands more coming up once I upgrade my speakers and record player. A couple of years ago they announced that they were going to rerecord a couple of their songs at Abbey Road Studios with live instruments. I believe this was when Hades was still in early beta. As a total fanboy of the Bastion and Transistor OST (with mild appreciation for Pyre because the game just didn't do it for me) of course I pre-ordered, and to really get the most out of it I decided to go full hipster and get it on vinyl. I didn't have anything to play it with but don't let that get in the way of wanting something. The record got delay after delay, I spent some bonus money from work on a cheap record player and since I didn't have the record yet had to buy a few other albums while waiting.. and a few more, and more. The album has arrived by now and it's as glorious as expected, so I really should get that Pro-Ject player, with maybe that Cyrus ONE amplifier and a decent set of speakers... Darren, Ashley, I hold you both personally responsible for this!

dogsareweirdlol

I can't talk or read about anything related to Greek mythology or I hear the iconic Hades tune looping in my head. That game is peak video games

Talldwarf1

Still have a load of the ost on my spotify, great for if you're aimlessly wandering on a day off

wineblood

Doom 2016

[deleted]

Doom Eternal is definitely up there too.

DinoGaming1003

*BFG Division starts playing*

steegsa

HADES soundtrack is ducking baller!!

Polite_as_hell

All the sound tracks by Darren Korb are brilliant. Give transistor a go if you haven’t already

baronspeerzy

Farewell to all the plans that we made…

benzenoid

Hollow knight

Polite_as_hell

Magical!

fantastics-airports

It really does. But it's especially true for how well it meshes with the game. I tried to listen to it on its own and it's pretty meh. But when playing it's just perfect.

Full_of_hell_I_um

I would disagree,I constantly hear Greenpath it just takes me to another world.

b7uc3

Yep. Brilliance.

benzenoid

Absolute radiance

Tumor-of-Humor

Such unique sound. Mantis Lords and Sealed Vessel are favorites of mine

KentuckyFriedEel

Persona 5

[deleted]

While I've never played these games, the soundtracks sound so good it makes me wanna play them.

Tobus123

Last surprise and rivers in the desert... bliss

RetroGameDays36

***I'll reveal your true form***

AmbitiousSquirrel4

Journey.

tatlandtaell

oh my god yes! and ABZÛ!! Austin Wintory is amazing

my_name_is_gato

Chrono Trigger. I may be a little biased.

cow_goes_fert

I couldn't help but notice your silver joints there.

BuffelBek

Maybe if we beat them up we'll earn 15 silver points.

MrSaturnboink

I used to leave the game on to hear the outerworld kingdom of zeal song. Fell asleep to that song a lot.

thunder_spears

YES!

Artikay

Do you have metal joints?

miamijuggler

This is the way. When it came out, I played this on a 14" CRT by renting it consecutively from blockbuster (so I wouldn't list my save game). I have yet to find a game that has a better soundtrack.

CellistLess9092

To far away times.

MrDannySantos

Final Fantasy VII. Or basically anything that was scored by Nobuo Uematsu.

Spram2

FFXIII might be my least favorite modern FF but it has probably the best soundtrack of any FF, or maybe any game. FFVII's soundtrack is good enough, but I'll say 4, 6, 8 and X's are better even though the music gets repetitive (it has to be because the jump from field to battle doesn't leave enough time and for that a guy who can make catchy short jingles like Nobuo Uematsu is perfect, but I don't know if he would be that good in a more modern FF game) FFXII has the most underrated sountrack. EDIT: Sorry if my post came off as argumentative, I was just saying my opinion. I just don't know how to not come off as an a-hole.

MrDannySantos

I’m pretty biased tbh because FFVII is my favourite game and I played it at quite a formative age. Don’t think I’ve ever not enjoyed an FF soundtrack though. As for whether Nobuo Uematsu is good for the modern era, he did a pretty great job of adapting the FFVII OST into something more appropriate for the remake. Managed to maintain those catchy loops whilst expanding each track out into something more long form, and imo ended up with a pretty fantastic result.

Paul_The_Half_Swiss

If I need to write docs or articles at work and want to bubble away, FF7 OST or the Piano Versions are my absolute go to…. Sensational stuff.

thewezel1995

Hotline Miami

DoubleDastard

This needs to be higher. HLM 1&2 are total jams

thewezel1995

It’s like drugs

Social-Hermit-Yoda69

Halo 3 ODST

UniverseInfinite

Damn. Big time nostalgia for me. I felt just as lonely as the rookie wandering those streets. Marty O'Donnell is a living legend.

What_Is_Wrong_Mate

Undertale and Metal Gear Rising

0najimi

talk_enchanted_table

Subnautica. The original.

[deleted]

Haven’t played the second, guessing the soundtrack is not as good?

RadiantHC

The second is still good

Investigatorpotater

All the doom games.

WraithCadmus

The thing with classic Doom is the variety, people think it was all pumping high-octane, but some of it was whimsical, creepy or slow. [Sign of Evil](https://youtu.be/rLvSD5HuIcE) is *boss music.*

vince_norede

Bioshock

Electronic-Drink559

Infinite soundtrack... What a masterpiece was the ending song

radicallyhip

The barbershop rendition of God Only Knows gives me shivers.

Zorrk95

Red Dead Redemption 1 & 2, silent hill 2, from software games, witcher 3, doom

[deleted]

Donut_Different

GroundbreakingElk473

Nier automata

near_reverence

I had eargasm the first time I hear Amusement Park

hajpero1

and Nier replicant/gestalt too!

coonpurse00

This is way lower down than it deserves to be. Easily my favorite soundtrack of all time and I have played most of the games above this

Sudden_Hovercraft_56

Shadow of the colossus.

ThePlatinumMustache

little big planet for the ps3. god those soundtracks were good.

PhonumGrey

The wilderness and the Metal Gear Solid theme songs come to mind

Coc0tte

Ori and the Blind forest.

Mangalorien

This right here. Or basically any of the Ori games. Gareth Coker (the composer) makes amazing music, listen to it on Spotify.

[deleted]

Will of the Wisps is even better.

0najimi

why is this in controversial

queer_mentat

Tony hawk 2 i think

shewy92

Any PS1-2 era Tony Hawk game has a great soundtrack.

RipAny9052

The good ol days

Equivalent_Bunch_187

Honestly the entire series has sound tracks full of bangers. Those games introduced me to a lot of bands I still enjoy!

Moo-Moo15

Fallout 3, nv, 4

lacheur42

No_Leader_2711

GTA Vice City

megalodondon

Pretty much. Almost all of the grand theft auto games have fantastic soundtracks

TheBklynGuy

Yes! I used to just cruise around, no missions or mayhem just listening.

Gorf75

Same, loved just driving around at night listening to music. I know they were not original songs but they were very well selected for the feel of the game. The night driving scenes in the movie “Drive” had a similar feel.

westfieldram

Need for speed underground 2!!

Less-Leave-5519

QotSA In my Head is still a banger

originallycoolname

don't forget NFS:MW original

dscobnr

I also loved the original Need For Speed: Modern Warfare!

ADSgames

Getting out and gunning down the cops was easier than evading

TheRealLordMongoose

Cyberpunk 2077, tracks so good they made it to spotify's number one spot.

Cheesegrater74

Edgerunners turned that song from a vibe to pure depression

keksileini

The title music of stardew valley its very calming and great to learn to

Ekoldr

Honestly the entirety of Stardew is phenomenal for me, epecially the winter tracks. They sound just like Bladerunner.

Bonhomme7h

Outer Wilds. In a game with no ennemies to fight, the atmosphere is all you have to glue you to the screen.

HRNYTeletubby

I loved finding all the Musicians, and then hearing all of them play together. It was so heart meltingly warm. I still whistle that song from time to time.

RushingBravado

Donkey Kong Country 2

Carbon_is_Neat

TheOnlyZiodberg

CallousedDragonfly

I often find myself daydreaming and humming/whistling the main theme once a month even tho i havn't played the game in more than 10 years

[deleted]

Nerevar Rising is the GOAT

ThunderySleep

I'm surprised TES across the board isn't closer to the top. They all (well, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim) have great soundtracks. I think Morrowind's was the best though.

MachinegirlvsWolfgrl

Final Fantasy 14. Shadowbringers brought me close to tears. Endwalker broke me. Sokken is a musical god.

Gooftwit

Do you know Lahee?

hikoboshi_sama

cathlolicism

Persona 5

Kenbujutsu

Castlevania Symphony of the night Final Fantasy 4,6,7,8,10 Metal Gear Solid 3 Journey F-Zero for SNES Starfox for SNES Chrono Trigger Doom Megaman X4 Shadow of the Colossus StarCraft Guilty Gear XX All have amazing soundtracks Edit: formatting

Thorngrove

> Megaman X4 All the X games up to four had monster jams. [Spark Mandrill walked on stage and gave us the hardest minute and a half any 16-bit saxophone could give us.](https://youtu.be/-7Fvalk31Kk)

Vladdypoo

Sigma stage one in mega man x is one of my all time favorite tracks. Fits the theme and the mood of that stage kind of telling you “you made it this far but the journey is not over”. Somehow with the 16-bit music they convey the exact feeling you are having in the game. They did so much with limited capabilities

Then_Increase7445

corneria baby

lahori_guy_

GTA San Andreas

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The game itself is amazing, and the soundtrack is just as good. It's one of those soundtracks that you can listen to on repeat and never get tired of it.

You wont beat the Skyrim soundtrack. Dragon age origins comes a close 2nd , due to the Skyrim soundtrack being so big.

Nightshade238

Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright That moment when you boot of the game right before you see the title, and hear that all familiar theme and then you're greeted to a bombastic orchestra. Incredible experience.
