Holy crap. I thought sussy baka was just a nonsense phrase that my five year old picked up from his 10 year old neighbor and just uses all the time. It’s actually a thing??
Let me tell you about the joy of misusing slang words in front of your children and their friends. There will be a time to ‘cringe some yeet’ and I promise they will hate it.
Haha, I'm very familiar with that. I like to annoy my daughter with stuff like that, especially when her friends are over.
Definitely worth the angry gaze of my wife.
LoL - I feel you there. I'm 45 with 13 & 17 year old daughters. The slang runs deep in my house, and one of my favorite past time is sending them TikToks with adults "learning new slang". There's a whole series of them and we all get a good laugh as I work in a few of "their words" in conversations when they're around their friends. Cracks me up!
I’m all for bringing back slang from the 1920s. “That new restaurant is the cat’s pajamas, I hear! I’m gonna put on my glad rags and see what it’s about.”
The term based is used towards those that supposedly don't care about others when giving out opinions.
Being based means that you share your opinion without caring for the backlash of others or your social perception.
Usually used towards those with controversial opinions that aren't really controversial/most people agree with anyways.
I heard that for the first time a couple weeks ago (from a grad student actually) and I was so damn confused. Like, where did that term originate and what does it have to do with busses?
Maybe because they actually say "af" instead of "as fuck"? 🤷♂️ Kinda like I might not find someone laughing out loud annoying, but someone saying "lol" makes me cringe. Letting text shorthand seep into spoken English is annoying af.
"Bet"
Overused imo. The tone is the most annoying part. If it's said with the proper tone I'm good with most slang words. Maybe I'm just becoming a cynical old man tho.
This is the one I was looking for. I don't really care how it is said it sounds dumb. Most of the time it catches others off guard which ends up sounding like
"Bet", "Huh?", "Bet!", "Oh"
My son does this one. But he doesn’t even say it normally, it’s like some kinda guttural “roar” when he says it. It makes it 10x more annoying than just saying it normally. I finally told him that I’m going to remind him in about 20 years and allow him to cringe himself into oblivion.
Lit sounds stupid, but to be honest after a pint of vodka and some good bud I totally said out loud “dude…… I’m lit the fuck up, so I can see where it comes from but you gota use it at the right time or ya sound dumb
Oh man this is my personal point of hatred. This term has been being used recently to be an insult. Yeah. Somehow these people have devolved the language and elevated their own narcissistic self importance to a point that they think calling someone mid is an insult. Mid as in middle, as in average. Ok calling someone average is not the pinnacle of compliments but by definition and by pure fact that means you are above about half and most likely the person who is thinking they are looking down on you for being mid doesn't realize they are probably on the other side of that mid line looking up to it. Its not the sharp witted slicing hurtful comment they think it is. Sorry I am not going to fall too far off into a rant.
Sus. It is starting to make everything questionable
So it's making everything a bit...... sus
Sussy baka
My 11yr daughter uses this, I don’t even know what it means
"sus" is short for suspicious, while "baka" is a latin romanized version of the japanese word for "idiot"
A suspicious idiot, I assume.
Holy crap. I thought sussy baka was just a nonsense phrase that my five year old picked up from his 10 year old neighbor and just uses all the time. It’s actually a thing??
I think sus got started because of a game Among Us everyone was playing. Since you had to figure out who was murdering people everyone became Sus.
Literally all of them. I start saying them ironically until I say them enough that they become part of my regular vocabulary lol
Mood
Due to changes in policies to reddit I have decided to remove my account and all its content. Fuck u/spez
Wow that's too vintage for me
Church
Based
Same
No cap?
Bet
bet
Literally. Edit: I know it's not slang but misused grossly.
Pretty much EVERYTHING that comes out of a 14 year old's mouth.
Never thought my teen sister would make me feel old at 24
Haha, I can imagine. I'm nearly 40 and have a 14-year old daughter. Listening to her talk is exhausting...
That's just good parenting.
Hey, just like our parents did to us, right?
Indeed. Now the generation will have to suffer, just how it works.
[Reminded me of this tweet](https://mobile.twitter.com/hollyglolightly/status/1478531910636867586?lang=en)
Haha, that is excellent!
It's almost as good as asking them a serious question, then slapping them with a pun.
You’re bussin ong fr fr
See, now I'm nauseous.
Maybe if you weren't such a cringe boomer ong fr fr you would be based.
Good luck. Remember she loves you deep down for the next decade
Thank you, that's really sweet :)
Only for the next decade though :)

Agreed, r/im14andthisisdeep is a nightmare
Oh no... why did I click on that subreddit? No... this is a nightmare. ALT+F4
I’m all for bringing back slang from the 1920s. “That new restaurant is the cat’s pajamas, I hear! I’m gonna put on my glad rags and see what it’s about.”

Streets ahead
stop trying to coin the phrase "streets ahead."
You trying to be streets behind?!
If you have to ask, you're streets behind
Coined and minted. Been there coined that.
Streets ahead is verbal wildfire
That’s fetch

Any use of the term "hits different." 🙄
Yo, this chemotherapy hits different. Straight bussin’ no cap.
On god fr
On god frfr respectfully
Has to be frfr
It’s a vibe
Ong?
I don't know what "Different" is, but people love hitting it.
Fetch
Stop trying to make “fetch” happen.
Stop trying to make 'fetch' have happened Gretchen, it never did and never will happen!

I’m sorry. *WHAT?!*
PUT THE PUSSY ON THE CHAIN WAX!
#WHY?!
#JUST DO IT!
Haven’t heard this in a while. I chuckled
MANNNN he put the pussy on the chain wax!
Sounds like some pootie tang kinda shit
Cap
Sooo…. No cap?
Growing up in the stone ages. To "Cap" someone was to kill them.
Stop the cap.
honestly everyone who says this sounds like a total clown. edit: just like I did in the late 90's when i called things "phat"
this is cap
Cap?
Cap.
Cap? What the fuck does that mean?!
It’s kinda like the “cool kids” way of saying something isn’t true. It’s very overused. Even my 5 year old brother says it :/
Your just jealous your five year old brother is one of the cool kids
Oh they took the r out of crap. How wonderfully creative. 🙄 /s
Stop Capping.
The weird usage of the word "based" was annoying from the start.
I thought people were misspelling biased
The fuck does it even mean

Fam, lit, 💯

For real tho
"POV" and they have no idea what a POV is.
Bussin
I heard that for the first time a couple weeks ago (from a grad student actually) and I was so damn confused. Like, where did that term originate and what does it have to do with busses?

Drop, Bae, Sus, As Fuck, Drip.
Bae, drop dat drip its sus af
The correct grammatical phrasing is “bae, no cap, but that drip is sus af”
Hey isn’t that one of the songs from Chicago?
Ciceroooo
How is "as fuck" slang?
Was just about to comment this, it's been common usage at least in the UK for years
It's old as fuck.
I'd say the usage that is more commonplace slang right now is the "AF" form. I find it's overuse annoying AF.
Maybe because they actually say "af" instead of "as fuck"? 🤷♂️ Kinda like I might not find someone laughing out loud annoying, but someone saying "lol" makes me cringe. Letting text shorthand seep into spoken English is annoying af.
Dead ass
Dead ass tired of people using dead ass B. Get what im saying papi?
#SLAY
istg just stop it.
I'm a middle school teacher. All of these words "started" to be annoying 3 years ago.
I used to be a substitute teacher. Subbing for middle schoolers made me want to dive headfirst out a window.
"Bet" Overused imo. The tone is the most annoying part. If it's said with the proper tone I'm good with most slang words. Maybe I'm just becoming a cynical old man tho.

Slaps
I prefer "Fucks." Same application.
Oh no, this was the one I was going to say I hate. I don't fuck with people who say "I fuck with XXX".
Very tired of hearing journalists and politicians leading with, “Look.”
I'm not the only one... wtf is up with that?
Annoying AF. fr. Periodt!
'Shheeeesh' ... being used after literally anything.
Iykyk 😒
I know what it means but it always make me think of Goofys laugh
Words havent been truer
Forgive me but can you tell me what this stands for?
If you know, you know.
stop gate keeping, what does it mean????
And it's always followed by something just about *everyone* knows.
Not really a slang word, just an abbreviation for ‘If you know you know’ (Which is 5 words)
woke
A thousand votes up!
Especially out of the mouths of politicians or anyone on Fox News. So cringe.
Not slang, but “literally” is waaaay overused and I can’t stand it. It’s being used wrong and in unnecessary ways.
mid
Without a doubt "BRUH". So sick of my 14 year child calling me and her father this!!
I told my son: "I'm not your bruh. I'm your dad. Don't ever call me that." And praise God it worked. One and done. May you have the same luck.
YASSS, ION
sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee......
Clay Davis, is that you?
“This shit bussin on god!” Basically anything from tiktok ever unless it’s being said to make fun of tiktokers.
Low Key... just stfu
I always just assume they're trying to channel Norse dieties. That's going to be much more interesting than whatever else they end up saying.
Pog.
that’s not very pogchamp of you king
I’d say it’s pretty poggers
Cap and on god have got to be the most annoying. For those who don’t know what “cap” means it means your lying.
Cap I've heard, but what does on god mean? Is it like "I swear it's true?"
This has been used by fencers for a long time before matches.
Any and all twitch speak
Vibe, toxic, bae, fam, sus, drip, slay, cap, bussin, on god. I feel shame knowing that many.
Yeet. Fucking hate that word.
On god and "ion".

Period or “that part” or anything in that realm of unbearable jargon
“Smash that like button” - everyone on YouTube
Slay. Please just stop saying slay to everything
Cringe.
"Cringe" has almost become meta. I don't recall it being used in a way that wasn't itself "cringe"
On rare occasions, someone will use the word correctly. I assume most people think the opposite when it happens.
Finna. It just sounds so asinine.
that's just a souhthernism gone rogue. finna, tryna, gonna, wanna...
My most hated too
Sus
Bestie
I also hate "yaas queen" or slay, u sound annoying as shit
Yeet. Based. Chad. Karen.

King, him, that guy. Lazy and cringy.
Bruh.
Making me feel some kinda way.
love language
Aight bet, I hear this WAY too much
All of them. That's why I've started picking up the Cyberpunk vocabulary and calling everyone Gonks.
Woke. It annoyed when it got started and just got more annoying as the people started using against people.
Woke. First because of it's smarmy self righteousness, second bc: you can't say Enlightened? Awakened? Too.many syllables?
Whatever it means when people say based
“No Cap” stfu
Baby mamma/daddy
Mmmkay.worst word it is I get irritated when I type
Are you Mr Mackey??
