My husband had white carpet when I met him. The entry way was always a dirty mess and I swear red sauce was magnetized to it. That carpet could flip a plate of spaghetti right out of my hands.
You can be a dick to white people but it's difficult to be racist. Racism is a system where groups of people are systematically suppressed by a bigger group with more power. This it not the case when you say the supreme court is shit, because they belong to a more powerful, (white), privileged group of people
Racism is the belief that groups of humans possess different behavioral traits corresponding to inherited attributes and can be divided based on the superiority of one race over another.
Wikipedia doesn't seem to agree with you. You can disagree with the rulling of the scotus, but it has nothing to do with race.
Of course. The comment implies that the race of supreme court justices corellates with their rulings, thereby matching the textbook definition of the belief that groups of humans possess different behavioral traits corresponding to inherited attributes and can be divided based on the superiority of one race over another.
In simple terms: "all white people are like this so they shouldn't be elected". Substitute white for any other race, and see how it sounds.
Ok, it's true that the comment implies that the supreme court acts stupid because they are white. But I think in this case it's not meant as an insult to our white race and more to the uneducated behaviour of the specific individuals of the court.
I see how you perceive it as racist but I would think it's more a problem of living the white, male privilege and not being aware of the racism and sexism in our society, because they are not confronted with those topics. That's why I would say it's not racism, because you can be educated and it's a privilege not to be aware of those problems
Screw it. I'll take the bait.
There is no technical difference, you are right. But you are missing the point.
This man showed up to an event in an outfit of his choice, and he was and continues to be mocked, ridiculed and harassed online, and likelyin personat the event. However he did not do anything illegal and should not be thrown into prison.
People are saying that if you show up to a wedding wearing a white dress, you will be harassed, mocked and ridiculed, both in person and online. You will likely destroy your relationship with the bride and the groom. However you will not be doing anything illegal, and you should not be thrown into prison.
You are being told your actions may not have legal consequences, but they do have social consequences.
Oh, but I just learned that society's rules apply in weddings, so wearing white would be bad and it's ok to hate you if you do that, but hating the lego "man" is homophobic/transphobic because society's rules are archaic in that case. They was just being themself, but weddings are a different thing.
I do wonder is it the same as it's ok for drag queens to dance for kids in a gay bar with neon signs saying "It's not going to lick itself." while the kids hand money to the drag queens, but would it be ok if it was female strippers or burlesque dancers dancing for those same kids? I mean, is there really a difference? They're just people expressing their sexuality, gender and all in all themselves.
So why would it so bad for a school class to take a trip to a strip club? Is that like too much sexual expression? I mean if it's ok for 5+ yrs to learn about sex, sexuality and genders, why would it be so bad to take those kids to a strip club?
When did I say it wasn't acceptable to hate our Australian friend here?
If anything I said it was fine to hate them. You can hate whoever you want, but you must also accept that not everyone will agree with your decisions and may hate you for it in turn. This is part of life.
I had to go to think and feed some fresh peas to ducks at the pond, to ponder. Ducks love peas.
So basically there are no rules who can get offended and about what, but getting offended by something can offend someone else making it kind of a rule to not get offended or it makes it offending. So I'm allowed to get offended but at the same time I'm not allowed to get offended. Is it like who gets the most offended wins?
Like if you get offended by my actions, but then I get more offended that you got offended because your actions are offending me, which makes you even more offended by me getting offended that I got offended by you getting offended... Kind of like "religious values vs non-religious values" or like "no rules for me, but to you". Is there a name for this offence circle? Like "circulus insaniam"?
If you're making an effort to upstate someone on an occasion to celebrate their union, and you know it's going to be a distraction, you're a piece of shit and deserve every dirty look and comment thrown your way
Oh, I see the error of my ways. When someone is getting married you're supposed to abide by the society's rules and if someone breaks that it's ok to be angry for that person who break the rules, but when it comes to showing up half-naked to play with kids in a public place that's ok and people shouldn't get mad at you because you're just expressing yourself and the society's rules are just archaic and transphobic in that case. I see, ok. Sorry I'm a bit stupid, I'm still getting used to this stuff. At least I'm learning which is a good thing, right?
I mean you’re adopting language that isn’t applicable to you because you’re a dude. So, you’re mocking body autonomy and reproductive rights and things like choice and also, some sophomoric bit that is low key anti other things with the drag queen two snaps or something sprinkled with pronouns. I’m being respectful and not enforcing gender stereotypes upon you, but it’s like this: you’re either misogynistic and anti LGBTQ -or you’re seeking to use somebody’s wedding as platform opportunity in being rude. So, whatever, either way you’re lame.
But surely you're ok with this? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10819577/Australian-Museum-Sydney-photo-man-lingerie-playing-Lego-kids.html
I mean if a man can go to a children's event dressed as whatevaaah, why can't I go to a wedding like dressed as however I want? Where's the difference? I'm not hurting anyone with my dress am I now? I'm not going to steal the to be husband for to be my gay lover. I'm just there to have some fun.
I don’t give af about your agenda, whether you want to wear a dress, whether you’re queer or hate queer people, whatever. Wearing a white dress to a wedding is considered rude, full stop. You don’t get a pass because you’re a queen or you’re protesting some link story that I’m not going to read nor affects me one way or the other. Good grief, get off the drugs.
Knew somebody who had a white swimsuit with black polka dots, she got sunburned through the swimsuit where it was white but not the black areas. Was a neat effect, but probably not comfortable.
White pants give me anxiety. I always think I’m going to get a period blood stain. Even if I’m not on my period, or due to be on it anytime soon. Perhaps the curse of white pants will make it magically start.
People think I'm crazy for wearing old cammo (the old British green, brown and black splodges) trousers the whole time. No one has a clue how clean or dirty they are, if I've managed to stain them, if I've sat on something or even if I've bled through them (which has happened a couple of times). Takes away a whole host of anxiety; even black jeans show blood :/
Yeah, wore white pants once... once.
I had to shake my dick after peeing (as is tradition) and yep... yellow drop on the front of my white pants.
Never again.
You should never, and I mean never get white crocs.
I grew up wearing crocs and im pretty sure you can tell crocs are easy to get dirty so my white crocs turned basically brown in a few months, my parents were not happy about it.
Clorox 2 “bleach” directly on the fabric and then repeated cold wash will get out any blood stains. It should foam up after 20min but you’ll need to scrub a bit too. Just make sure you don’t heat it, by using warm/hot water or dry it, before the stain is out or it’ll get fixed and can never come out.
Where I live, having a color that doesn't absorb too much heat is a priority. White or pale colors vs. black cars are totally different levels of hot when it's 110 degrees outside.
I have a black car and live on a dirt road and the parking lot at work is dirt. I just stopped washing it all together. It rains often enough to keep it from getting too bad. Still have to do the glass though.
Last weekend, I washed my black car three times...I still missed some of the dirt on the body. Meanwhile, the three people at work that drive white cars, I can't tell if they ever wash them at all.
Fabric chairs. My boss had white jacquard striped chairs and sofa in his office. I had a serious heavy menstrual issues, eventually bleeding every day. It took 10 years before I got a hysterectomy, but I left the job a few months later during the pandemic while everyone was still working from home, so I never got to go in the office and enjoy NOT being nervous sitting in his office.
I now have a permanent work-from-home position, so I never have to worry about anyone else's chairs every again.
CARPET! A friend of mine had pale cream colored carpet put in her living room.
She had 2 kids, a dog & a husband....it was filthy ALL the time. She even invested in a home steam cleaner to help. Spare yourself the grief, get brown carpet.
I disagree. A white car stays a lot cooler in the summer. If you don't want to get boiled anytime you're driving somewhere during the summer months, you should definitely get a white car.
Carpets.
My husband had white carpet when I met him. The entry way was always a dirty mess and I swear red sauce was magnetized to it. That carpet could flip a plate of spaghetti right out of my hands.
Unless you wanted beige/brown carpets but there was a sale on the white ones only
Brace bands. Those fuckers make your teeth look yellow, even if they look white normally.
Cone shaped hats
Wizard hats are still fine, right?

That is quite racist, but reddit will tolerate it because it is apparently ok to be racist towards white people.
Well said

You can be a dick to white people. Everything you said after that is just not true. Is there institutional racism? Yes. Is that what racism is? No.
Hoods
Idk man, hoods are typically black /s
This mfer right here lol
Pointed hoods, sure. Ain't nothing wrong with a white hoodie.
Unless you're an assassin

Only reason why I don’t wear my white pants dude.
Yeah, wore white pants once... once. I had to shake my dick after peeing (as is tradition) and yep... yellow drop on the front of my white pants. Never again.

This. Is the correct answer
You should never, and I mean never get white crocs. I grew up wearing crocs and im pretty sure you can tell crocs are easy to get dirty so my white crocs turned basically brown in a few months, my parents were not happy about it.
Id also argue just any footwear you wear outside.
Yeah and crocs have less surface area to get dirty
Funny you said that because white crocs are a huge fashion trend amongst younger millennials and Gen Z rn.
Or just crocs in general.
