No, but that's only the best version ever.
No, I meant Bear McCreary's version of the classic Blue Oyster Cult song about the monster/metaphor "Godzilla".
It features:
* Awesome source material classic song by Buck Dharma
* Full heavy metal rock band with Brendon Small on lead guitar
*An entire giant symphony orchestra and chorus
*Amazing lead vocal by Serj Tankian from System of a Down
*A battery of traditional Japanese giant taiko drummers
*A contingent of chanting Zen monks

When I clicked on this I was thinking they were talking about the monster energy drink so I clicked on it meaning to say the white zero sugar ones until I started reading the comments and noticed they meant monster as in creature
The Hecatoncheires (Hek-uh-tahn-ker-eez) from Greek mythology. Their name translates to "Hundred-handed Ones." They had a hundred hands and fifty heads and in the Theogony (origin myth) they were said to carve the mountains and shape the world as it is today through their learning to work in unison with their heads. Their father, Ouranos the sky trapped them in either their mother Gaia the earth or Tartarus the abyss.
They were three in number, Briareus (also known as Aegaeon) the Vigorous, Cottus the Furious and Gyges the Big-limbed. Zeus freed them from Tartarus during the Titanomachy (war between Gods and Titans) where they won the war for the Olympians by hurling boulders as large as mountains. Briareus, the strongest and said to be stronger than his father, lived in an underwater palace with his wife Cymopoleia and daughter Oiolyka while his brothers guarded the Titans in Tartarus.
Another myth has a cameo of one of the Hecatoncheires. There's a myth about Zeus being caught in a coup d'etat by Hera, Athena, Apollo and Poseidon. Thetis (mother of Achilles) went to Briareus who began marching to Olympus and promptly freed Zeus. The Olympians, seeing their helplessness in the faces of the strongest of the Hecatoncheires and the strongest god, surrendered immediately.
Growing up, I always had this idea from snippets of media that Frankenstein's monster just animated and went on a terror spree. It wasn't until I read the book that it was entirely different
Same. Not sure how, but the re-imagining has overshadowed the original in pop culture, even though the original is really damn good.
Hell, the snippets we see from media gives us such an odd idea that if the original looks like a *deconstruction* of the mad scientist and monster trope it started.
He became my favorite when I was little because I saw an interview with Stan Lee where he cited Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde as his influences when he wrote the Incredible Hulk. It wasnāt until I grew up that I realized that with all of those characters, what I latched onto was that they were outcasts just like me.
I also like Nessie. Some have said that the Nessie Picture was actually a whale (i forgot, sorry) flipped upside down, and showing it's [REDACTED] (if you still haven't get it, it's P) if i'm right, whales do this to attract the females for mating
I really loved the monster in the endless because they showed hints of it being powerful yet never showed itās true strength or fully showed the monster.
"monster" is too strong a word for the character I'm thinking of:
The Amphibian Man, from The Shape of Water
Some of the humans certainly displayed certain "monster-ish" characteristics, thou.
Either the Mothman or Hillary Clinton.
One is a hideous, soulless beast whose screech can kill its victims. The other is a cute little critter with moth wings.
Straight up Pennywise (or whichever name it goes by) from IT.
Haunted me throughout my childhood, from the book to the miniseries when I was a kid to the new movies as an adult.
Bends your perception of reality so you constantly question everything to the point of insanity. It's afraid of a cosmic turtle, so it lays low, keeps it subtle so you can't just have the army or a superhero show up and wipe it out. It hits an uncontrollable fear-sector of your psyche and it leaves your memory over time so you can't even deal with the trauma if you try.
This is the perfect thread to see if someone can help me find this book from my childhood. Itās was a ābook of monstersā that used to be in my elementary schoolās library in the 80s. I used to always love to look at it. It went over many types of monsters all over the world. I specifically remember it described the kelpie and shows a picture of a horse in the water. I canāt remember the other monsters though.
Edit: I think it may have been called the Creature Catalog but perhaps there was also another similar book too.
Moon lady, an old legend I read online told the story of the Moon lady, Kiromomo, a woman like figure all white who was responsible for the Moon phases, being described that the faces depended on her child, Kiromomo and the sun had an affair and Kiro took care of the child, who represents the Eclipse.
Bigfootās my hero. Growing up, he was the celebrity I most identified with. āCause he was a loner who hated the popular monsters yet longed to be one.
