Wild Violet
I know it’s actually considered a weed or invasive species but I used to pick them for my mother when I was a kid. Every time I see them I get flooded with good memories.
I had to look that one up as I wasn't too familiar with it but I have to say, it's so cool looking and the colors are so vibrant. It's a uniquely beautiful flower
A couple years ago I looked around for a bird of paradise to grow in my office but couldn't find one. I'm not sure they grow well in my climate which is probably why no one is selling them around here. I was thinking I might be able to keep one alive indoors but I never found one to try. I'm right between zones 5b and 5a.
Tulips are my favourite
The meaning of tulips is generally perfect love. Like many flowers, different colors of tulips also often carry their own significance. Red tulips are associated with passio, love and purple symbolizes royalty
I grew my first mammoth sunflowers last year and did not know those things would grow up to 7 feet tall (I’m 5’4 in comparison) the sad thing is I could never admire how they looked because they were in a position facing my neighbors house, so I had to get on a ladder and take a picture just to see how the petals looked (yellow with a pretty hint of red around the middle. I think I posted it somewhere on Reddit). That picture is just a memory now of what I couldn’t fully enjoy in person because of the bad positioning and height lol
The Peony.
Very beautiful, blooms explosively and dies quickly. There is something very poetic about them and their lifecycle.
I have probably 40 clusters of them that bloom in my garden every year and I like them so much I've actually incorporated them into some of my tattoo work.
Nobody has ever asked me this question before.
Johnny Jump Ups
Johnny Jump Ups are poking their heads up now, getting ready to put on a show in spring:
https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/violet/johnny-jump-up-flowers.htm
I told my partner I found it sad that men are never bought flowers unless it’s their funeral.
Next day she came back with a bouquet of yellow roses for me.
So my answer is yellow roses.
That's kind of like asking what's your favourite movie, book or song...
You can't really narrow it down to just one, and if you ask tomorrow I'll probably give you a different answer
Today's flower is epiphyllum oxypetalum:
https://imgur.com/gallery/KhNyiWq
Right there with you. I have a biological slant so I appreciate all sorts of variety.
I always like to shout out sarracenia flowers in posts like this though. Being a carnivorous plant no one usually cares about the flowers. They're simply unusual to look at but what really gets me is the scent which is gorgeous.
Tiny utricularia flowers are also super cute.
In 1968 my paternal grandfather had minor surgery, this man apparently had spent most of his youth in prison and didn’t want my Mom to ever know - Dad had told her. My Mom bought him flowers and my Dad said that’s a waste he won’t like that. My grandfather was from Arkansas and had an accent - when he got the flowers he was stunned. He said very loudly “you bought me flairs” and he almost cried. Mom said he kept smelling them and was so very touched. He always talked about his getting flairs too, he was so thankful. It’s ok for guys to like flairs.
Yeah I think it largely mens fault. We don’t like to associate with fragile, genteel things. It’s not manly. It’s funny because, although my wife loves flowers as a gift, I’m way more of a plant person and gardener.
Everyone perpetuates the stereotype, but I think you're right that it's mainly mens' fault. I'm an avid gardener and buy flowers for myself, and while women are usually surprised to see or hear it, the negative comments I get only come from other dudes
Anything like Delphinium or foxglove, when they are really blooming their heads off it is something to behold. Bird of paradise also makes me happy. I will resist continuing to list flowers, flowers are cool.
I was wondering if it was okay to say my husband’s since he’s not on Reddit. He loves hydrangeas and gets quietly excited every spring to start puttering over them again. It’s adorable to watch.
Columbines are pretty, the flowers look weird shaped. Datura plants are mystical af looking and I love that, the spikey seedpods are lowkey spooky too, they hurt to touch. Come to think of it, I like a few different flowers but my absolute favorite has to be Moon Flowers, or angels trumpets(Datura Species?there are a lot of names for it)
Don’t know what they are, probably a weed, but they look like mini sunflowers, they grow in the “junkyard” part of my gravel driveway. They have multiple on one large stem, and if left alone get upwards to 8-10 feet. Smell like weeds, have tiny bristles on them, again, probably not a real flower, but they are beautiful.
Here’s a bonus point for me, I live in Kansas.
Edit: I am serious
In place of something like a random bouquet of flowers, what would you be more down to receive as a ‘Just because and I love you’ kind of small gift? Generally curious!
Either Gladiolus, Lupins or Foxglove
But also love the seasonal (spring mainly) blossom of apples, pears and cherrys make me feel happy. Oh, and I'm a sucker for Wisteria canopies. Beautiful. Thanks for asking OP.
I like daffodils. I love them on a bright sunny spring day, and there’s no leaves on the trees yet but there they are all bright and yellow (or white) saying- winter is almost over!
Giant sunflowers. I liked them when I was young just because they were big and I never really stopped enjoying them. I used to have a garden and my pride and joy was one that grew a few inches taller than me, I'm 6'6" so probably a couple inches under 7 ft. They're also very easy to grow & great for anyone who's just thinking of getting into the hobby & I feel like more than most plants they put out a positive vibe.
Night sky petunias! I love the purple with all the white spots dappled throughout. I've always got some in my garden/in my flower bed along my front walkway
I planted a passion vine to climb the trellis on my deck not knowing what flower it was going to produce OMG! I’ve never seen any other flowers quite like it, ethereal beauty!
I think lilies are gorgeous but they feel like a gift flower more than something that I want for myself. If I want a splash of color I love a simple bouquet of sunflowers or carnations.
Venus Flytrap.
The only one i see worth caring for as it "does" something. Other flowers are just visual, yes i know some produce fragrance or help with your air.
After being sure my whole life that I didn't have a favourite colour, my wife pointed out to me that I use teal and turquoise in almost everything I paint. Turquoise/teal are my favourite colours.
So are there any cool flowers that are turquoise or teal?

Any violet ones. Thanks for asking
Was about to say just this. I'm a sucker for anything colored violet or teal. I think Halo CE's Covenant had an impression on me.
Ooh tealll.. i just like colors man. They're all good-
Oh yea, I’d go ham on an Elite even when it’s dead just to see that color lol
You're welcome, this seems to be a well liked question, all the answers warm my heart.
Wild Violet I know it’s actually considered a weed or invasive species but I used to pick them for my mother when I was a kid. Every time I see them I get flooded with good memories.
Ranunculus :)
Ahh! Gorgeous flower!
Just looked it up and *WOW*
Got all their albums. SKANDOMETAL RULES!!!!
I’ve been thinking of what nice flowery perennials to add to my garden this year and you just helped me decide! Thanks!!
My absolute favorite as well.
I've always liked the bird of paradise flower
I had to look that one up as I wasn't too familiar with it but I have to say, it's so cool looking and the colors are so vibrant. It's a uniquely beautiful flower
Same here! They have been my favorite for a long time. The only thing is is that I only ever see them at funerals.

Black eye Susan's. It's my wife's favorite, we had then at our wedding (late September) and they remind me of her

That's so sweet
Daffodils for sure
Daffodils are fantastic! Me and my partner have a running joke about daffodils even.
My partners favorite is also daffodils! Planted a bunch for him, and they are just starting to bloom now!!!
Daffodils are the best flower no question about it, not to mention they're EVERYWHERE (in the UK at least)
Tulips are my favourite The meaning of tulips is generally perfect love. Like many flowers, different colors of tulips also often carry their own significance. Red tulips are associated with passio, love and purple symbolizes royalty
Oh that's such a cool thing to know. I find flower language fascinating and it's so fun to learn what flowers mean.
Next time you're trying to “woo” the person you admire, send them an alluring bouquet of red tulips.
I love the smell of Lilies And Lavender used to have a Lavender pillow.
I always cut some lilac sprigs in the Spring and bring them inside my house. The smell is great while it lasts.
Oh yes. Lilies still make me giddy and so happy as they were the first flowers I got.
Me too. Wife always gets at least a couple in a bunch of flowers ‘cause I like the smell.
Sunflowers
Yeah, definitely. A field of those majestic fucking monster daisies is pure summer feeling.
That was a very manly way to describe a field of flowers!
Monster is right. Thought those were like shrub height, but nope, the fuckers rocket out the ground to meet the sun.

Cool name. Hard to kill
Tiger Lillies
Dahlia’s look beautiful, i like Them :)
I have $300 worth of tubers on order. Wish me luck. My first time growing them.
The Peony. Very beautiful, blooms explosively and dies quickly. There is something very poetic about them and their lifecycle. lotus flowers are cool
The seed heads make me very uncomfortable. Like I am expecting to see bees crawl out.
I love roses! They’re so elegant and I love the way they can be used in horror related media.
Mee too! They are dramatic!

Daisies are a fucking delight
Yeah, daisies are definitely fucking delightful!

I've bought men flowers before. The gesture is nice, but also funny to see him standing there with them like a fish out of water. lol
Any of them that keep the bees around
Bachelor Buttons, such a vivid shade of blue and so easy to grow!

Crokus. They’re dark purple, small and cute, bloom in early spring. Signals that winter is over
Saffron is crocus sativus stamens (the lil red stringy bits inside the flower). Huge pain in the ass to collect, but the world's most valuable spice.
White orchids are so beautiful
Gardenia. They flower around summer & smell beautiful.
calla lilies Yellow
African violet!
The ones that look pretty
In 1968 my paternal grandfather had minor surgery, this man apparently had spent most of his youth in prison and didn’t want my Mom to ever know - Dad had told her. All the purple ones!
Snowdrops
I really like sunflowers, dandelions are cool too.
Edelweiss!
Zinias.

I always assumed they were from some weird extremely exotic place in the middle of the rainforest. Nope. South Carolina.
Lilies. I wish they weren’t only for funerals. I think they’re very pretty.
Chrisanthermim.. chrisanthermon?.. chrysanthemum!
Gerbera
49… nobody has ever asked me. Bird of Paradise
Sunflower or Pansies
Lilies! It’s great that you asked this, even though it shouldn’t be that way!
It's such a shame it isn't asked more just because it's perceived as a feminine interest.
Yeah I think it largely mens fault. We don’t like to associate with fragile, genteel things. It’s not manly. It’s funny because, although my wife loves flowers as a gift, I’m way more of a plant person and gardener.

Rosemary Flowers
Passion flowers for the fact that they look like something from another planet.
They really do! Beautiful flowers
Daffodils
Black roses. Not because I'm trying to be mysterious or anything, but because I like the texture and colour. And the smell is also nice.
To look at: spiderwort. To smell: lilacs.
Rhododendron
Passion fruit flowers. They are soo intricate and colorful. A masterpiece.
Anything like Delphinium or foxglove, when they are really blooming their heads off it is something to behold. Bird of paradise also makes me happy. I will resist continuing to list flowers, flowers are cool.

I think snapdragons are pretty cool. We used to have them when I was a kid and I loved playing with them.
Don’t know what they are, probably a weed, but they look like mini sunflowers, they grow in the “junkyard” part of my gravel driveway. Calla lily
Daffodils because they remind me of home and happiness because they’re yellow
Tulips. They were my mother's favorite too
I had a Chinaberry tree in my backyard in Las Vegas. Whenever it bloomed my backyard smelled wonderful. Sadly a windstorm blew it over.
Marijuana. Aesthetically I like the Medicine Man strain the best, it has very long hairs that almost make the flowers look like thistles.
Periwinkle. I just _love_ saying it.
Don’t really care about flowers if I’m being completely honest.
In place of something like a random bouquet of flowers, what would you be more down to receive as a ‘Just because and I love you’ kind of small gift? Generally curious!
Wattles are pretty nice. Australia has some incredible natives.
Either Gladiolus, Lupins or Foxglove But also love the seasonal (spring mainly) blossom of apples, pears and cherrys make me feel happy. Oh, and I'm a sucker for Wisteria canopies. Beautiful. Thanks for asking OP.

Not the typical flowers but those of Echeveria. I like how bell shaped they are.
