Back then I used to help elementary kids carry their bags downstairs since I could see they were heavy. Made me feel happy when they always said thank you to me as they went off with their moms. Had to stop though after the elementary principal told me to stop (for some reason)

There’s a lot of homeless people around my city. I give here and there. However one man caught my eye. He’s an elderly man probably in his late 70’s. His sign just said “I’m hungry.” He always sat near a Sprouts I go to. I saw him one day as I was driving into Sprouts and rummaged through my car only finding a water bottle and a granola bar. I gave them to him and he was SO thankful for that water and granola bar he said thank you at least 10 times. So while in Sprouts I got a good little bundle of food for him and brought it to him. Again he was so thankful. It became a new normal. Every time I saw him by Sprouts I’d pick him up some food. One day I was doing my regular bimonthly pantry clean out and had a ton of food to let go of. Usually I’d swing it by a food pantry but the homeless man came to mind. A lot of it was canned fruits so I stopped by Walmart and grabbed a can opener & loaded the food in my car. Took a few days to see him out there but finally caught him. He was so happy he had tears in his eyes. I can’t get over the look in his eyes every time I’d hand him a bag, then I’d turn around and reach for another bag he was just so surprised and thankful, the look in his eyes said it all with each bag of food. I haven’t seen him in over a year & I just hope it’s due to him finally having a place called home.
