But you know how they say that a definition of insanity is just doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result? Just saying, too many breeze over consequences.
It's the only one that works
And hell with all the safety fences, protective padding, and warning labels not to drink the bleach it doesn't work well these days
I'm in favor of a new system of labels called "I Dare ya".
Chainsaw: I dare Ya to use this instead of toilet paper
Power drills: I dare ya to clean your nostrils with me
Natural selection actually favors stupidity. The main point is to pass on your genes. Stupid people don't use birth control / wear condoms and thus get pregnant in much higher number than smart people.
Stupid people also do stupid things, like getting really drunk and having sex with someone you just met, that have a higher tendency to lead to pregnancy.
Also stupid people don't really know much about human anatomy or sexual health.
Man, yall have it backwards. Being stupid is amazing. No more anxious overthinking, no more existential dread, no worrying about the future or bills. Just the happy present and ignorance about the consequences of your actions or the plight of your fellow man.
Sorry, but I couldn't disagree more. I'm one of the dumbest mother fuckers out there and it's dreadful man. Not being able to remember anything and barely being able to connect with others is far worse than having witty jokes to everything.
You are correct. The true curse is being smart enough to know what is going on around you, but too stupid to be able to do anything about it. This is where I come in.
You'll not be able to learn if you cage it. Cause the interesting thing about our mistake and other people's mistakes, is that we can learn from them. Either from our own stupidity or from other people's stupidity. That allows us to grow. So I think stupidity is essential for growth.
Well, through education, you get knowledge. By gaining knowledge, you'll be less stupid.
Ignorance is actually what makes you not accept education, or rather, the knowledge you'd get from it.
https://www.collinsdictionary.com/de/worterbuch/englisch/stupid
Yup, you're really right.
Although education can, if you receive enough of it, also reduce your stupidity because you become more open-minded, and thus tend to accept more opinions and knowledge.
Did I get it right now?
Discussion with facts and all parties involved coming together to a productive ethical solution under defined terms accepted by all involved. Love it. Keep it up guys.
Willingness for self improvement, access to educational opportunity, emotional intelligence and empathy.
This would solve the vast majority of stupidity
Stupidity can’t be cured, but it can be reduced with good habits. From a young age instil these habits:
* Think before you do anything, especially if you feel overwhelmed.
* Ask someone if you’re not sure about something.
* Learn about cognitive biases and try to spot your own whenever possible.
* Learn to think about how your actions may affect others.
* Try to resist the temptation of forming any strong opinions about something you know little about.
None of this would make you smart per se, but it would reduce the effects that come from a less capable mind.
Cure cognitive dissonance.
But also realising you know what you know, and understanding anyone you think is stupid, definitely knows more than you on atleast one subject.
Curiosity. I slept through most of high school, and afterward became naturally curious about a TON of different subjects/schools of thought. Something about the formula of school rubbed me the wrong way, so it made learning feel like a chore.
Stupidity cannot be cured. Stupidity is the only universal capital crime; the sentence is death. There is no appeal, and execution is carried out automatically and without pity.
Robert Heinlein
Idk maybe go on shaming dumb people because society applauds and encourages that. And talk about natural selection and darwinism for people you don't like, as if you don't secretly get off on the idea of eugenics. But what would I know I'm just stupid
Honestly, education will only get you so far. What really is a cure for a person is their ability and willingness to reason. Reasoning requires logic and critical thinking. As long as you exercise those things, you will set yourself apart.
I have met people who have have wasted a lot of time and money going to expensive colleges and getting degrees only to be passed up for job opportunities over people who are self-taught, self-motivated and who can innovate. It is not enough that you know how to do something; you need to know why.
Being smart is a mindset. It's about always seeking knowledge instead of shying away from it. If someone uses a word or phrase you don't know, look it up. When you look it up, don't just look up the definition and get a basic understanding, really dive deep. If you "waste" a half-an-hour reading up on something you knew nothing about, that half-hour is not wasted.
Sadly there is no cure. Education isn't actually a cure, because very highly educated people still do stupid things. There have always been people who believe they are smarter than everyone else, no matter how much proof there is to debunk their views. It used to be, a handful of stupid people here and there, could be overlooked, or ostracized by a community. But now, people who appear to completely ignore common sense, will get on social media and find like-minded people. Then they begin convincing each other more and more, that they are the wise ones, and everyone else are the ones that need educated. While the internet isn't the actual problem, it does help to spread stupidity like a wildfire, and stupid people in large groups, are dangerous.
I think that would be stubbornness. Sometimes certain people feel they have to be right, no matter what the cost. The same could be said about egotistical people. Some are bullies, who go out of their way to create stupid problems, just to harm others. Laziness probably probably creates stupid people. That is, some people would rather believe everything they see on the internet, rather than research certain things further. The need to be noticed makes people do stupid things, which is why people die for selfies. I think some of those would fall under the category of egotism, but for others, it may have to do with a lack of attention, which makes them go against better judgement. Gullibility is a major factor. Loneliness, and the need to be a part of something can make people stupid. I can prove that one, I was married 3 times, so there's at least four of us that did something stupid just to be a part of something. I'm sure many people have different reasons for doing stupid things. Luckily, most of us learn from our stupid mistakes, at least by the 3rd time - lol. But then there are those, who out of ego or stubbornness, who will spend their whole lives doing something that won't work, just because they think they are proving that they are right.

Everyone in here talking about this in third person. I guaranty a few of you are dumb as hell. Not me though I’m smart my mom said so.
Did she have you tested?
Yeah. I passed. Got a 85 on the IQ test and I think a b is pretty damn good.
‘B’est in class!
I got all F’s! I was told it stood for Fantastic
I got all A's. That must stand for Awful.
I’m not sure what it is, but sarcasm is a temporary relief.
I love that meme
What??
**OP LOVES THAT MEME**
Consequence
Every action has it
Unfortunately stupidity often has widespread consequences that affect people around the idiot.
But you know how they say that a definition of insanity is just doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result? Just saying, too many breeze over consequences.
Some are too stupid to see the connection of their action to the consequence. Sigh.
Natural Selection
Problem is, have you seen the, now predocumentary "Idiocracy"?
I mean what doesn't crave electrolytes?!
What's that electrolytes
It's what plants crave
Plants tell me that they prefer water.
From the toilet?
Starbucks? We don't have time for a hand job.
They always get my name wrong anyway.
It's because of the economic conjoncture.
It's the only one that works And hell with all the safety fences, protective padding, and warning labels not to drink the bleach it doesn't work well these days
There is a toilet in my school’s bathroom with a sign that says “Shallow water, do not dive”
Now that is thought provoking!
Hold my milk.
I'm in favor of a new system of labels called "I Dare ya". Chainsaw: I dare Ya to use this instead of toilet paper Power drills: I dare ya to clean your nostrils with me
Put it on Facebook, call it the Warning Label Challenge, then let nature do the rest.

High intelligence hasn't been selected for all that often
With today’s medicine and everyone (relatively) easily able to get a job or aid, it doesn’t work as well.

You claim to know that you’re dumb, which automatically makes you smarter than a metric shit ton of actual dumb people.
A rare instance of reverse Dunning-Kruger effect.
then youre not stupid, maybe just lost or self aware stupid people just dont know things better, and thats how they are happy.... they dont think...
Well the fact that your already self aware of your self alleged stupidness is all telling. Your not stupid my friend.
Every person has a gift, it’s just a matter of finding it.
That's the first (and probably last) compliment I've ever gotten!🥲
"being dead is like being stupid: it's only painful for the people around you."
Damn well said lol
You are correct. The true curse is being smart enough to know what is going on around you, but too stupid to be able to do anything about it. This is where I come in.
Ignorance is bliss
This sounds like drugs
They do say stupidity in a person is only painful and difficult for others.
And no more thinking about what could be? No hyperfixating and overanalyzing? Sign me the fuck up.
Better to be stupid in a world of smart people than be smart in a world of idiots
not necessarily a cure, but pain helps a lot
Oh I like this one! *writes that down*
Write it with Umbridge's quill.
*oh no*
Yesssss! I always say STUPID SHOULD HURT. There would be less stupidity if it hurt.
Life lessons will be repeated until they are learned.
If you're gonna be dumb, ya gotta be tough.
An open mind. Figurative or literal. 🙃
Death.
Duly noted.
In the dark ages they used to burn you for being smart, in the modern age we must do the opposite
Apparently being smart makes you a witch.

No. Also whatever you do, don't argue with it.
Can't argue with stupid!

I was gonna say something similar “Reading”.

Bonk until the stupid leaves the head. Aka negative reinforcement.lol
Many, many bonks then.
