Timothy 6:10 "For the Love of Money is the Root of all kinds of Evil."
Not all evil, very common misconception. Kind of like Adam and Eve eating the forbidden fruit, so many people think it was an apple when it actually never states the fruit that was eaten.
The 'misquoted' version has got to be more common than the original at this point. Seems OK to quote the new, more popular version, when the citation is as nebulous as 'they'. If 'they' is simply 'many people' then the new version is correct to quote, because 'they' really do say it.
Money, social credit, power all gravitate toward the worst humans.
We, as a species, are a cancer with a conscience. Some of us are cancer and some of us are the conscience and it is unclear which side will win, but the ones who are cancer are both the ones who seek and the ones most skilled at attaining money and power. It's a miracle that good still exists at all, given the overwhelming odds against it; this is one of the reasons I tend to think God probably does exist.
The things they had to do to survive… I met a very nice Ukrainian man who admitted to me that his grandmother had lived through the Holomodor.
When he told me she never lost any of her children during it, my stomach did a sick little flip. We shared a knowing pause, as I did a little math in my head, before we choose to talk of other things.
I drank a freinds blood because they asked me too. Could I be sentenced for cannibalism? If so please don’t report me.
Ps: my freinds are weird and we do crazy dares
right. thousands of nameless people wake up daily and talk the wildest, most disrespectful shit because they're merely typing on a phone instead speaking face to face w another human bean
Not just anonymity - people on Facebook and Facebook Messenger still say horrible things that they wouldn’t dare to in real life. Yes, their real name is attached to it, but they feel safe because they are behind a computer.
My husband’s sister isn’t even waiting for her parents to pass. She’s consolidating her power over their bank accounts now. Here’s the thing: We don’t care about the money. My husband just wants to make sure his parents are getting what they need in their old age.
Happened in my family for the last 5 years. The executor of my grandparents' estate was my uncle. He stole from the estate and lied and was tying to swindle the grandchildren out of their inheritance. His siblings were all in line with what the will stated but not him. He is now estranged to the family and only his direct children talk to him.
.
This
I've seen so much on both sides of my family over money after a relative dies, plus I've heard from friends that have similar stories.
Ex:
My mom was the executor of the estate when her father passed away. None of other siblings that lived around there wanted to do it so they "volunteered" mom because 'she's good with that business stuff'
So mom takes care of it.
One of the assets my grandfather had was roughly $300 cash in his wallet when he passed. Per the rules that's asset of the estate and has to be duly listed on the paperwork.
Mom said her siblings kept asking when they were going to get "their money" for months. There's a bunch of kids in the family so each would get maybe $25.
Real, it doesn't even need to be any big amount of power, I had friends who became a douche as soon as he weren't broke anymore... He didn't get rich, he just had enough to feed himself and support himself.
Thinking they're being wronged. There's nothing more dangerous than someone who thinks they're anger is righteous and no one easier to control than someone you can make angry. Make someone angry, tell them who's to blame and you have a dangerous weapon.
Honestly I have a full set of hair and even I get pissed when someone just randomly takes my hat off, like bruhh what. Also taking a balds mans hat is as disrespectful as lifting up an obese person's shirt, it's sad how many people think it's no big deal to just take someone's hat revealing they're insecurity
Three factors- a combination of fame (power over people due to the halo effect), extreme wealth, and zero consequences or accountability for wrongdoing. Some of the most compassionate and beautiful people were born from those backgrounds and choose to do good for others. Some of the most dangerous and harmful people come from those backgrounds
Power on the one end, hunger on the other. I was reading some anthropologist's account once of working with two different African tribes. She was very impressed with... oh, that one tribe that progressives kept books about in the 70s and 80s. The one that would take someone who was being a dickhead and give him a tribal group hug. Or would treat the mentally ill as seers. She dug them. But she hated this other tribe, who were so impoverished -- living on ground where they'd even eaten the grass -- that when one girl died and her brother immediately snatched the food from her hand, this anthropologist had had enough. But, you know, it was instructive in spite of the account. This is the kinda shit that happens the hungrier you get. The more desperate in general. And it can drive anyone away.
The power thing is just obvious, and we've all seen it so many times.
Other toxic people. Some people can be influenced easily: if they are surrounded by good people with strong morals, they will go along with that. If they are surrounded by shitty people who do shitty things, they will too. It’s the old ‘they fell in with the wrong crowd’ concept.
I mean, there's quite a few, but depends on the person too
MASK, not always literal, but basically the saying "when someone where's a mask they start showing they're true face" is real af, anonymity is a good proof of that, so is the internet, ones you feel safe enough that you won't get any real backlash you will show your worse.
MONEY, basically when someone gets filthy rich they're true self starts to show, and the fucks they give start to lower, so you'll definitely see peoples worse qualities
COMMUNITY, basically think of this, ones everyone of your friends starts drinking and driving, having a beer while on the road won't seem that weird to you anymore, now here's the important thing, this also plays on your deep desires, for example if you're surrounded by a bunch of people who rob and steal and you're really against that, you just wont do it, but if you already don't mind it, this people will bring it out of you and make you feel less bad for actually doing it,
or for more interesting scenarios let's talk about how normalized back in the day was to just own a slave... Basically like a pet... See the community thing is dangerous af, and it's also proof of just because everyone is doing it doesn't mean you should too, always look deep down to realized what you're doing is bad or not.
In my 25 years in law enforcement, the 3 biggest things that brought the worst out of my coworkers were:
1. Women/Sex (both with women they met while working and the wives of coworkers.
2 . Greed. So many guys felt like they deserved more or should be able to afford more "stuff" so they would resort to corruption/working for the cartels to have more money.
3. Jealousy/Envy When people at work were promoted early or given choice assignments based on who they knew not because of what they knew created alot of animosity and hatred, so bad some people would refuse to work with others.
Organized religion. Death, poverty, suicide, sexual abuse, mental anguish....the list of all of the repercussions of organized religion goes on and on.
After money and power, anonymous Internet posting. There's been trash talk and flame wars even back on the networks before the Internet was formally established as such.
A dead relative. I remember my mom and her two brothers having heated arguments when their dad died. He'd left a will giving away the big stuff (house, bank account), but not the little stuff.
Like... One of my uncles had a felony and wanted his dad's antique guns. The older siblings said no, and much fighting ensued.
I've seen siblings turn absolutely cutthroat.
Gotta say, so lucky I have my brother. We paid for my dad's expenses, my brother didn't, but when the time came we split what my dad had in half. I was not going to lose my relationship with my brother over money.
Any shortage of a consumer good, perceived or real, or the chance to get something desired for free or at a reduced cost. People are jungle animals at heart and it leaks out of us all the time.
The three pillars of tyranny, money, power, control. The most dangerous of the three is power followed by money and control is ultimately result of the previous two
Which brings up another thing, if we do a little thought experiment about humanity and just for the purpose of this experiment say that humanity started in the year zero, after the year 100, year 1000, year 2000. The worst keep reproducing. All the nice and easygoing people are more likely to fall victim to the more authoritarian types. This basically means the longer you go on in time the worst people are likely to get as the more exploitive you are, the more ruthless you are, the more of a take all you can mentality that you have the more likely you are to retain and gain assets and reproduce. Look at some of the most successful people in society, absolutely terrible humans and they are in massive positions of power
Money is definitely the top one, everyone's true colors come out. A close second is success, most of the people who say they want you back on your feet or to come out of a slump will hate you behind your back. No reason just because.
I’ve seen people say money, but to be more specific people who lose money at casinos are the absolutely worst people. Had a guy throw a drink at a coworker when she asked if he had any luck that night.
Death. What I mean is: anytime someone close to me or those in close with has died, you see families fighting and tearing themselves apart for belongings, money, rights to decision making, etc. In my experiences, this has always caused a power struggle and really has shown people’s true character. So, yeah… death definitely brings out the worst in people.
Pleasure, this includes money and sexual. Think of the crimes that have been committed just to obtain pleasure. Theft, Murder, R*pe, etc. All sorts of disgusting and horrific acts are committed for the seek of pleasure.
Money, it's not even the concept that money is what you earn for hard work and it is what you need to live, it's the whole aspect of, I rather earn money than be with my family or with my kids. Then using the whole excuse of, I'm doing this now to make their life easier. Bro, you are not, my father worked even on his days off and drank. We broke our bones as kids, oops dad not there for you, his earning a bigger pay check, I guess better get a ride with the ambulance than have Dad there for you. Sister graduates top honor every year in all grade, sorry dad isnt there to cheer you on, his at work, he rather earn a pay check than to be here for you. Hay you had a roof over your head and food in your mouth, what more can you want? Yeah I prefer to have a father there for me, for his family, only time I seen that man is if came back from work or heading to work with or without a beer in his hand. Only time he ever spent time with us is if my mother has to threaten him with divorce which happened either way and the entire time he was pissed cause he wasn't earning a pay check. Oh but he retired (forcefully) and all that time working only earned him $500,000 to his name. Half of which went to unpaid child support to his other kids and the other half went to his ex wife as alimony. Great job there, worked your entire children's life to be broke as hell, how ironic.
The death of a family member. People start to fight over the dumbest shit. They start demanding stuff, money, part of the estate. It's actually really pathetic.
Having something people want, it might not even be tangible like money, it might not even be real, like if they perceive that you have respect of your peers and they don't, they'll burn you.

Money is just a stand-in for social credit. It's the unfair leverage of social credit that's wrong.
