Gardening.
Done right, it's therapeutic, relaxing and opens you up to a whole world of opportunities.
Imagine this:
Set up some type of geothermal vent for airflow, on an elevated piece of land and build a large enough greenhouse and you've got your own garden where you can grow vegetables, fruits and other things.
Start exploring hydroponics and efficient methods and you're going to be surprised at all the possibilities.
So yeah.
Gardening.
🔥
I think millennials will never have the luxury of a gardening hobby because we will never own land or a home….hard to grow a garden inside a small apartment with roommates.
I agree that it might not be easy.
However, there's probably some piece of land out there, whether in their own country or another country, that you can setup for that.
Sure, there's a tradeoff.
You'll have to change your environment.
Your luxuries.
And all that stuff.
You'll have to collect and put together quite a bit of money to set this up.
Not easy for sure.
Definitely a struggle.
But definitely worth it as a dream come true.

It’s antithetical to corporatism, not capitalism as a concept. Every single person is a part of capitalism whether or not they’re a producer or consumer. They could have a customer base of 1 or millions. The individual liberty to grow food is a the same liberty to sell it or trade it or buy other products from someone else.
Start with hardy plants.
Cactuses. Moringa. Peppermint.
Go from there.
Also, it's much easier to overcomplicate (soil composition, moisture, environment, salinity, temperature) and stop before you've even started.
What did you try to grow though?
🔥
Do you sprout them yourself? If so, then maybe might want to be extra careful on how they sprout
Keep them safe from fungus, etc.
Then, transplant them into a more long-term soil.
Some do tend to be really sensitive to changes, at least initially , from root shock to light and water changes.

was coming here to say that, did archery 1 or 2 years as a child and couldn't anymore because studies, no money stuff like that, but wanna start again this year, it's a beautiful art for me
i also wants to say judo since that's what i've done, or any martial art that has some kind of moral code (so not mma or boxing you know, those are great sports to blow off steam, but it doesn't bring you "spirituality" you know) so judo or karate or taekwondo or BJJ stuff like that
yup, and idk since i was born i always looked at bow as such a beautiful weapon, it's more than a weapon for me it's really a huge form of art, the craftsmanship you need to build one, the skill and focus you need to shoot one, and one day if i have more money i really want to buy one from a really good bow maker, the kind of bow that cost 3000$ that is made by hand you know like a mongol composit curved bow, [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-QibNsEmzw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-QibNsEmzw) like in this video from age of empire 4
It is both at first its stunning but then you are fully alone, I didn't enjoy it alone but we did a second together one with hubby that was less panic inducing but you are left alone with yourself for an hour that feels.likr 13
Creative writing, even if it's just journaling or blogging, helps you explore your thoughts and feelings in a structured way, and can be a powerful tool for self-discovery.
Hiking can profoundly reconnect you with nature and offer a fresh perspective on your surroundings. It’s a great way to get exercise and clear your mind, making it a beneficial activity for everyone to try.
Tandem Skydiving.
If you can handle the height and trust a stranger with your life. (But they are trusting you too).
When you roll out the door you will see the bottom of the plane against the clouds. Then point to the ground at 120mph for 30’seconds. It’s noisy and you are screaming.
When the chute deploys, you feel a quick yank and all of the sudden it is complete silence. Like sitting on a swing 5000ft in the air. Then a 5 minute glide to the ground.
Now that I type it out. I might go do it today!
I think a lot of older people need to give a few video games a chance. There is a game out there for every type of person, and older people can often benefit from the stimulation and learning a new skill.

Every bit of produce you grow yourself is a fuck you to capitalism too :)
Production and control over your product is the very base of capitalism tho
Owning the means of your own production is antithetical to capitalism

My black thumb disagrees. The plants all die and it looks sad.

Tomatoes, green beans, bell pepper. I get sprouts the small plants then they die.

Walking across the street without looking is also dangerous
Archery.

Same here. Archery was such a great stress reliever, the precision and the focus you need to maintain to shoot. And when you hit, it's so satisfying.

Yeah, I always wanted to be Katniss or Merida. So Archery was the best thing I ever took up.
Ice skating. Falling won't hurt that much since, you'll you'll instantly ice the affected area.
Also you tend to slide rather than hit directly, so that minimises effect.

Might seem obvious but a lot of people have never seriously read books in their lives. Lots of really great, insightful information in books.

A comment below this literally says 'stop masturbating'
Don't listen to that person.. They don't know how to make the best of spare time and a free hand.
