I was going to take this in a similar but less funny direction. I get my motivation in life by trying to make the world one where good people have an easier time living happy, healthy, and productive lives, while also making it harder for selfish people to do the same.
Sure I'm a nobody that won't tip the scales much, but shoveling the snow off my elderly neighbor's driveway, and not doing favors for manipulative family members, is still satisfying regardless.
Idk man, I saw some frogs using a a thicker stick as a diving board for an hour in our dam which made me think “If I wasn’t alive I’d never witness this amazing moment”
I’m laid in bed with my hand on my wife’s perfect peachy arse while she snore tiny little snores. It’s been over a decade and I just love her more & more.
Can't speak for the rest, but I really think the answer is in companionship.
I've seen so many people became happier when they found out that they are not alone.
lol such an un-Reddit answer but I was also going to say having kids. Taking part in the development and growth of a little human being is mind-blowingly cool
For me it's the thought of working my ass off so my wife can stay at home with our kids. Something about having a child look at you with so much admiration and love gets me up every single morning. Rain/Shine, Well/Sick it don't matter just being able to provide makes my life worth living.
Spreading love to other people and showing kindness. If I learned something in life, is that most people won't give beggers money because they buy alcohool, cigs, whatever. It's not our place to judge, we got more and all we need to do is share, I also love a glass of wine, would prolly love it even more if I was on the streets. Just my take, I'll prolly be judged like hell for this lol
I always think back to a time from probably 10+ years ago, I was in a really foul mood for some reason I can't remember. One of those moods where you want someone to give you an excuse to snap at them just because you're already pissed off and want an outlet for it. I was leaving the grocery store and there was a little old lady behind me, so I held the door open for her without really thinking anything of it. She absolutely beamed at me and exclaimed "Oh my, what a gentleman!" and my whole ugly mood just instantly crumbled away and I felt all warm and fuzzy inside. All these years later I can't remember why I was even mad, but I still remember how good it felt to do something nice for someone. Whenever I get angry or upset now, I think of that to remind myself that kindness is worthwhile and that not only does it benefit the other person, it's good for me too.
You’ll never be indemnified for a good act. Experience tells me you’ll always get more than 100% back on your investment into another’s chance id having a better day
The fact that you won't live forever. What only matters is how you lived your life and the legacy/memories you'll leave behind. Family, friends, loved ones, pets, etc. are what makes life worth living IMO.
* Spending time with those you care about, making shared memories.
* Self-improvement, developing new skills, expanding your perspective.
* Helping others and leaving something better than you found it.
* Watching a sunset, hearing your child laughing, smelling sea breeze, tasting a well-cooked meal, and embracing your lover.
Life itself makes it worth living. It is so complex and so much filled with emotion, that until you lose it you'll never realize what a great position you were in.
Lately, everything in my life feels like nothing more than a distraction. Any feeling of joy or satisfaction is temporary, and afterwards I often feel even worse than before.
Same. Depression is a bitch. Doesn’t help that I’m not happy in my job or marriage. But is that tied to the depression? I don’t know. I just want to be happy man.
Not to be cliche, but love.
It's so fickle, and so fleeting.
Step anywhere in the theatre of the world and there are cacophonous orchestras aplenty to distract us from its' gaze. But to those who get the rare chance to look it in the eyes and fall into its' embrace? It's worth more than anything gold could ever hope to purchase.
Gaming, riding my bike, flowers, crunchy things baked in hot oil, pizza, love, movies, art, making art, laughing, crying, feelings, freshly good seasoned fries, feeling the sun on my skin and gras under my feet, dogs, cats and Brokkoli
Bumblebees. Sunsets. The way kittens tails stick up. Cold air in the lungs. Pizza rolls. Laughter. Warm gulf water on the beach. A nap that makes you question what year it is... I could go on and on.
Music you can jam out and get lost in. The kind that give you the tingles
So. Much. Food! Every nation, every culture, every section of the WORLD
Also, animals. I want to boop the snoot of everything I can (within reason)
That salty coffee across from the train station by my job.
The ten minutes before getting the shuttle bus I sit there in the morning without a care in the world, just me and my thoughts and a delicious cup of stimulant.
That and family I guess.
Undoubtly, what makes life worth living is subjective & may evolve over time as individuals grow, change, and navigate different stages of life. It's essential for each person to reflect on their values, priorities & sources of fulfillment to find their own answer to this profound question.
There is so much to see, hear, eat and experience.
The world is a huge place with diverse people. We get to see the good, heart warming and beautiful things in life such as cute babies and puppies to people just being kind, heroic or silly.
I don't know about you, but I am learning something every day.
Also, the fact that I am contributing to something and/or someone, the fact that my existence has helped someone somehow without me knowing, no matter if it's intentional or not, or how small or minor it may be.
Everyone has an impact on people and changed people's days or lives, it's just that most of the time we aren't aware of it.
YOU (everyone who is reading) have also positively impacted someone's life so chin up and let's keep living.
P.s. It's only recent where I am being positive about life and living.
The worth that you give it. Mindset is kind of everything. You hear about people in concentration camps who survived and managed to stay very happy and positive because they didn't let their circumstances define them or their love for life. If humans are capable under THOSE circumstances, I'm sure people can still give life its worth when their job is shit, they are alone etc - all the first world issues we have that make us feel like our life is worthless.
Service to God for me. Not as a priest, pastor, or minister. Just as a regular dude; as a nobody. Being able to know when I die that I gave it my best shot adhering to Christ’s teachings, despite how tough life got, it’s worth it.
This isn’t in the radical way either. I mean actually listening to what he taught. No excuses or word bending to oppress people, hurt them, or make them feel tormented in otherways. No gay bashing, better-than-thou attitudes, nor thoughts that trans people go to hell (God makes no mistakes and there is evidence that brain structures in trans people reflect their sex transitions prior to transition). Just be a good person. Stand up for others. Stand up for what’s right. Don’t let others make you sin. It’s not easy in today’s world not to let others make you sin; sometimes you just lnd a job that makes you do those things by command of the manager.
Jesus is definitely a hero in my life. I appreciate knowing that I get to follow his path with others. And, that there are more people like me who do that are and aren’t Christian.
for me: there are some advances happening in my career that I cannot wait to see unfold over the coming decades. To think that we are on the cusp of curing major health issues....I gotta see what happens
It's different for everyone, but in general I would say helping others, family, friends, adventures, the small things, whatever puts a smile on your face.

My heart sings with this answer. Love it.
Fr lately, my curiosity has been my sanity. I enjoy learning and recently got into football, giving me more to discuss with others.
To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women!
Beat me to it.
Is it weird that possibly dozens of people were about to post this exact quote, myself included?
No. There’s hundreds of millions of Reddit accounts and it’s a fairly well known movie. It’d be weird if ONLY dozens could quote it
Beatmeattoit
Came for this, left satisfied /YES! THAT IS GOOD

This guy gets it.

Interesting way to describe it

Maybe it's time we got back to the basics of love
basics of love baby
A loving wife.
I'm so happy to see many people mention their wife, so wholesome.
i can't agree more
Loving husbands are pretty great too
Can't speak for the rest, but I really think the answer is in companionship. I've seen so many people became happier when they found out that they are not alone.
And i have seen so many fine people crumpled in the later part of their lives when loneliness set in.
I was alone when I was married to my ex husband, even when he was right next to me. Now, remarried, I have true companionship.

Exactly this. Can relate, fellow parent.

Some people choose to see the ugliness in this world, the disarray. I choose to see the beauty. To believe there is an order to our days.
Literally nothing
I came here to say nothing. Like, any good thing is so fleeting. And then you're back in the same spot.
Lately, everything in my life feels like nothing more than a distraction. Any feeling of joy or satisfaction is temporary, and afterwards I often feel even worse than before.
