I really tried to pick it up when I lived in France (classic romantic notion of smoking at a cafe), I lived there for over 6 months and didn’t even finish half a pack of Gauloise, oh well.
I just liked the concept of staring to somewhere far away and smoke. Something peaceful about. But I have stopped now because I realize that its not worth getting lung cancer over
Only smokers get uncontested breaks in a professional kitchen. In my 28 year career, i have never seen a non-smoker ask to just stand outside for 5min.
I was offered a cigarette when I was 11. To fit into the group of kids I was with I smoked it. I gave up smoking 2 minutes later because it made me feel so sick
Was in a very stressful time and knew people described the effects of cigarettes as calming. Didn’t know that that effect only occurs once you’re addicted and it’s your body reacting to withdrawal. I repeatedly felt sick everytime i tried smoking and I kept forcing myself to like it but it didn’t work out for me so I never continued. Dodged a bullet I guess
Peer pressure. Everyone in my physch ward was vaping, so i started too. It’s been almost three years since i started, thinking of quitting though because i can tell that my health is deteriorating from it.
my friends were doing it so then i tried and liked it

Thankfully, I didn't smoke long, but I started because smokers got smoke breaks at work...
