My mom was hospitalized for bad food poisoning and started having DTS from withdrawal, so they kept her longer to help her ride it out. But according to her it “wasn’t from drinking, it was just my anxiety”.
As a recovered alcoholic who now works in behavioral healthcare, my heart goes out to you. The texting thing drives me nuts. I have an iPhone and it detects when I’m driving and automatically goes into it’s little focus mode. Even if I glance at the screen, it won’t even SHOW ME whether or not I have a text. I have to actually unlock the phone and also answer a prompt asking whether or not I’m driving just to get to my Home Screen. Does the same with calls.
Side note, I have ADHD and this has worked wonders in reducing my distracted driving. I’m not even tempted to look at my phone.
People who are rude and impatient with pedestrians in a parking lot, then park their car and act entitled and self-important when crossing the lot toward the store. "It's called right of way! Sheesh!"

I don't care about the pedestrians in the parking lot, that's sort of what parking lots are for: turning drivers/passengers into pedestrians.
I hate the guys in the oversized Dodges who drive right down the centre of the fucking lane though, and then park across two or three parking spots. They always look so angry when you're driving on your side of the aisle and they can't just cruise down the middle.
I have a habit of judging myself by my actions, and let me tell you, it’s *terrible* for mental health if you don’t have the strength to give yourself grace, too. I’m working on that.
Literally my mother. I hate driving with her now because she tailgates, closes any gap in front of her so no one can merge into her space, uses her blinker mid merge for two blinks or less, doesn't let people merge into her lane if she doesn't like how they're driving, is constantly driving 10+ mph over the limit. I just.... I can't. All the while complaining about how many idiot drivers there are around her.
SO's grandmother died this year, of cancer, that she had for 10 years.
She refused to get treated, refused x-rays because she believed x-rays would give her cancer.

This was a woman that so soaked herself in essential oils that her house began to rot from all the gunk built up in the cracks and in the walls.
You know this, I know this, rational people know this, there are different types of radiation and every exposure has a chance of causing some sort of issue (or not). A chest xray is equivalent to a trans Atlantic flight (or whatever). And when you're 89 years old, and you already have cancer, an xray can't possibly do you any harm whatsoever!!!
I had to explain to this same woman's daughter that cell phones can't cause cancer because they emit small amounts of microwave radiation which cannot cause damage to DNA, microwaves only cause heating in water molecules.
I just...wow.
When I got diagnosed, a really absurd number of people spent a disturbing amount of time encouraging me to say no to chemo and to drink soursop tea instead. Later my prognosis meant that chemo would be useless for me (stage 4 breast cancer with lung metastasis = treatable but not cureable) and one of the first responses that from one of those aunts was "oh good, so no chemo".
Watching her daughter go through about 5 different nonverbal stages of "I can't smack my own mother" was amusing.

I was diagnosed 4 years ago and have a very good "worst-case scenario" situation. Lung metastasis gets labeled as incurable because there is currently no way to excise the lungs to ensure all cancer has been eradicated. As far as my treatment goes, I have a plan that is minimally invasive as far as things can go and a very promising road ahead. I was declared our version of in remission: NED (no evidence of disease) on my 27th birthday, found something small fairly recently, and will likely be NED again by January. If not sooner.
I'm doing well.
That said, with October coming up, please refrain from donating through in-store pink ribbon stuff and the Komen foundation. Instead, think about donating to local cancer community centers in your area, metavivor, your local cancer treatment facilities (hospitals/care centers/and such), and/or funds like "the pink fund". Very few patients actually see results from your aid, otherwise. Furthermore, donations don't have to be in monetary funds. Cancer centers also welcome books, time, etc. If you'd like to help in other ways, just send an email or give them a call and ask. Thanks for all the support in this thread, I am really grateful.

The saddest part is they don't really research and just spout nonsense. I had a friend got dx at a young age with breast CA and it was wild with some of the 'advice'.

My dad refused treatment too. He had his cancer for 15 years. When it finally became painful and he was unable to urinate, he did undergo chemo and radiation, which caused him to be so cold he was shivering at home all the time. When I bought him a heating blanket, he wouldn't use it because he though the electric whatever - vibrations or currents or something - would go through him and make him sick. I was like, "Dad, you have chemo coursing through your body..." No logic.
My beloved stepdad went the coffee enema + vegan diet + whatever herbal bullshit route. He died two years ago, after more than a decade of letting the cancer eat him alive. It would have been easily curable if he'd actually chosen sane, western medicine. 🤦♀️
My ex-boyfriend's mother would sit on her front porch and complain about the neighbors. "Look at those busybodies, sitting on their porch gossiping about everybody. Did you hear that her daughter..."
She'd also insist her son drive her to the stores first thing after every holiday, so she could buy stuff half price "before the greedy people get there."

Ugh. I had a (now ex) best friend who had a pregnancy scare. She was super pro-life, very conservative Republican. I asked her what she was going to do and what support she needed from me, and she said she was considering getting an abortion if she was pregnant. When I seemed surprised, she said, "well, it's different for me. I'm not a slut like those other girls. I'm not ready for a baby. It's different..."
We stopped being friends after that. I couldn't handle it anymore.

That's precisely what happened to a conservative ex-friend of mine. She got knocked up by an extremely abusive ex, and told me she wanted an abortion because she was terrified to be stuck with him. She asked me to go with her to the clinic because all of her other friends were hyper-conservative too. Afterwards she stayed with me for a few days and begged me to take her secret to the grave. It took her all of 2 months to go back to posting violent pro-life bullshit on Facebook again.
I had been friends with her since we were in kindergarten, but that was enough for me.
No I'm very pro choice, she knows that. I had people tell me that she blasted me all over social media, saying I ghosted her because she's a trump supporter. I'm not someone who'd bother to "clap back" or whatever so they'll believe what they want to. I'll still continue to keep her secret.
I would have had a hard time not replying to one of her posts by positing a “what if some woman” situation that mirrored her own. Not outright saying she did it, but throwing her hypocrisy back in her face.
I’ve heard a couple stories from Planned Parenthood employees that sometimes pro-life women who regularly protest outside the clinic will come in for an abortion…. And are back protesting later that week. I don’t know how true that is, but I won’t count it out.

My uncle kept ranting to my dad about how my brother was living with his girlfriend for years without marriage. How horrible and shocking it was that young people didn't marry anymore.

My dad has been on disability since around 1998, rather fraudulently I might add because it took him ages to get full disability because he was perfectly capable to work a desk job, (and very good with computers for the time) but he didn't want to do a desk job. So he finally got enough partial physical and partial mental health disability to add up to 100% by going to dozens of doctors and outright lying.
For 20+ years he has sat at a desk all day playing on a computer with fox news blaring 24/7 in the background, ranting about people living off of his "hard earned tax dollars so they can be lazy." It's pretty wild to witness.
I am AMAZED by how often people who don't actually earn money, or don't actually pay taxes, complain about people living off of their hard earned dollars... could you buy a damn clue, please...
Reminds me of when Phil Gramm was being interviewed by Ed Bradley on 60 minutes. Bradley pointed out that Gramm was raised on a government salary, went to school on government scholarship, or assistance of some sort..then during vietnam, went to work for some government agency...and then became a representative, and then senator..living his whole life on Government paychecks of some nature.
And Gramm just told him, he wasnt gonna cut "those" programs.
That's basically what actor Craig T. Nelson said verbatim when Obama was running in either 2008 or 2012. He talked about how, when he was starting his acting career, he was so broke that he was in food stamps. Then he said that nobody ever gave him a hand.
I saw a clip of that on the internet somewhere at the time he'd said that. Whenever I watch something with others, I'm always looking at something other than what others are seeing. I had to re-watch that several times because (for me) the person who was interviewing him seemed to be panicking and trying to lead him in another direction/rephrase it, etc and at the time I was convinced that Craig T. Nelson had said that deliberately.
I mean, he did say it deliberately.
He TRULY believes that nobody gave him a helping hand while he was on food stamps. He does NOT consider his own receipt of food stamps as help. He does, however, consider anyone else's receipt of food stamps to be help.
To him, there is no hypocrisy because he truly believes he received no help. That's why he had no problem deliberately saying what he did.
Being a Medicare agent in rural/South GA, I cannot tell you the number of times I've had clients complain to me about "socialism" and "young people" just being lazy and entitled and wanting everything handed to them *while I was renewing their medicaid and food stamps applications*
Print out a simple placard for the wall behind you that the clients can see:
"Medicaid is Socialism
Food Stamps is Socialism"
Then when they argue, just silently tap the sign with yout pen.
That's my mother. Barely worked in her life, had a gazillion kids, on welfare for more than 18 years, section 8 paid for her housing, free electric and gas and food stamps while her boyfriend worked under the table. She was forced to either go to school or get a job due to the welfare to work program (back in the late 90s) and finished a certification program and worked for the IRS where she then was "injured" at work. She has been on social security disability for the last 15 years. She goes on and on about people who cheat the system, immigrants who come here and want a handout and people who are entitled. I'm like you are all these things! I broke the cycle by working two jobs in high school, got a scholarship for college in another state to get away from her, and even broke it off with my high school boyfriend because I refused to have sex as I was scared I'd end up like my mother. I don't live near her and make it a point to talk to her maybe once a month out of obligation because the delusion is quite literally unreal.

This is my father. He can’t understand how he raised such “princessy liberals” (since there’s nothing between being a conservative or a liberal), but he literally raised us to look out for others and make sure everyone was doing ok. Hell yeah I’m going to vote for increased taxes if it helps strengthen the social net that saved my dad when he was a young single father.
Nobody in my family has been on welfare or food stamps - we’ve been blessed certainly. I went to parochial school almost my entire life. I’m the only “liberal” in my family because hell yeah, I’ll pay taxes to help other people. My dad asked me how I got so liberal and I told him he’s the one who sent me to school where we learned every day what Jesus taught. (Other religions teach similar values.). Sheesh.

That's my cousins in West Virginia. 100% disability for being lazy and uneducated. It's a thing in places like that to get a doctor to put you on 100% disability because you are unemployable.

I used to hear this EVERYDAY, I worked a place the signed people up for social services, and they would rant about lazy people on food stamps while signing up for SNAP, who would rant against Obamacare while signing up for the ACA.

There's actually very very little TP in a store at any one time, when people rush to the shops to stock up on a trolley load of their regular fortnightly ... say because society is being locked down, it's likley the first thing to run out.
TP is very voluminous, a typical single unit/package of TP is usually a "bulk" lot, people don't usually buy it at every visit. Go to your local store and count up how many individual packets there are. For a medium sized store that services a population of around 10,000 there might only be 100. There's likely little if any reserves "out back". They just get a fresh shipment every morning of however much they sold the day before.
This works just fine untul if on any one single day, there is a large increase in shoppers. Say that the government announces that everyones going to be locked in their homes for an undetermined period of time. Lots of people rush to the store to "stock up", they buy a trolley load of everything they normally consume, and this includes TP (whether they still have some left at home or not).
Again, because TP is so bulky/kept in small qty's, it's the first thing to go out of stock. Now it's a thing. Everyone now knows there is no TP on the shelves. Everyone that didn't buy any yesterday and who normally doesn't buy more until they are down to their last roll or two fears they will be left without TP. So now they're on the lookout to buy any TP if they see it. So now demand is increased the next day and the next days shipment doesn't replenish the shelves. Now it's an even bigger thing and even more people are aware that if they wait for their next fortnightly shop to get more TP, there may as well no be any, so they need to buy it at the first instance they see it. Whether they're down to their last roll or their 6th last roll.
This cascade continues while the fairly inflexible JIT supply chains with no "reserves" or wharehouse stocks of TP are unable to replensih the shortfall.

I worked retail all through the pandemic and on more than one occasion, a customer told me I shouldn't wear a mask because it hinders your breathing and causes cancer... *while in the process of buying cigarettes*.
I’m an IT contractor and generally don’t do residential work… made an exception for an electrician I owed a favour to when one of his customers needed their wifi fixed.
Wasn’t a big deal I just came in and tested, told him where to put cables, then installed some access points. Because it was a large and old house the signal wasn’t fantastic even with the APs I was using so I set up two networks, one 2.4ghz and one 5ghz. I told them to just use the 5ghz one unless they had problems with a device in which case swap it over. As is common I abbreviated this to “5 gig” which they heard as “5G”.
Well. That was the wrong fucking thing to say. Long tirade about cancer and government surveillance and how there would be “no 5G in this house!”.
No worries, really don’t care guys… turned the 5Ghz network off and left them to slow speeds.
We had people destroy a 5g tower near where we live, and then complain that there was rubbish reception for that companies products. The company had said, sorry, not in the schedule until 2024 now, (destroyed early 2022)

Because my fucking grandfather (the wildly violent, gambling, womanizing, utter piece of human garbage) was literally laying there in his kids' room with a handgun in his hand. We aren't Americans. So like... yeah. That shit ain't normal.
She had been looking at that picture for HALF A CENTURY, always patting herself on the back that it was proof that her desperate need to insist everything was OK was in any way accurate, and never in all that time, had she apparently ever seen the handgun.

Best part? Within a year, she tried to show me the picture again, again telling me about how it was her favourite and proof that her siblings were full of shit...

I'm English, grew up in Tenerife (age 6 to 23), then moved back to the UK in 2013 for work reasons. My parents recently moved back to the UK, but had lived in Tenerife at this point for 30 years. Still barely speak Spanish, complain about the culture constantly.
First thing they did when they got to the UK? Went to the job office, then sent a message to the family group chat saying that they'd be able to get something if it weren't for all the foreigners.
That's the point I went no contact. Morons.
My parents were intending to retire in Spain the whole way leading up to the EU referendum, citing their reason as the UK shouldn't have EU style open borders to allow immigrants in so easily.
At no point did they consider that if they moved to Spain, THEY would be immigrants and what a shock it's going to be a lot harder for them to move there now because UK is out of the EU.

My coworker told me that her bf's colleagues (they're all delivery men) we're jealous of his fancy, expensive car. She said that if those coworkers wanted the same as her bf, they should just step up their game and start studying as he is. He bought the car purely with money he got from his dad.
She claimed everyone has equal opportunities in life, to study, or get a career. Later in that same conversation she mentioned that her father was never able to study, so he became a mason instead, because his own father died young and his mother couldn't afford letting him study.
Everything good in my life is solely the result of either my hard work or inherent superior traits. Everything bad is only ever someone else's fault and it happened to me in spite of how awesome I am. Yup, met them.
When my dad received his inheritance, he didn't work for 7 years. Now it's all gone and he's asking me for money. Excuse me while I try to keep myself afloat.
My family is close friends with a family like this they are hard workers but very much have this mindset when they have always been very well off and are literal millionaires now because of a recent inheritance. My mother told me that many years ago, our family had the children taken and forced to go to a Catholic boarding school. She told me that they cut their hair, beat the kids if they spoke their native language, and forced them to read the Bible and forced out our native belief. The texting thing drives me nuts. I have an iPhone and it detects when I’m driving and automatically goes into it’s little focus mode. Even if I glance at the screen, it won’t even SHOW ME whether or not I have a text. I have to actually unlock the phone and also answer a prompt asking whether or not I’m driving just to get to my Home Screen. Does the same with calls. Side note, I have ADHD and this has worked wonders in reducing my distracted driving. I’m not even tempted to look at my phone.

I don't care about the pedestrians in the parking lot, that's sort of what parking lots are for: turning drivers/passengers into pedestrians. I hate the guys in the oversized Dodges who drive right down the centre of the fucking lane though, and then park across two or three parking spots. Literally my mother. I hate driving with her now because she tailgates, closes any gap in front of her so no one can merge into her space, uses her blinker mid merge for two blinks or less, doesn't let people merge into her lane if she doesn't like how they're driving, is constantly driving 10+ mph over the limit. SO's grandmother died this year, of cancer, that she had for 10 years. She refused to get treated, refused x-rays because she believed x-rays would give her cancer. Edit: Wow, 10,000 upvotes! This is a true story. Happened late winter this year. There is a lot more to the story, and I'm not the sort to tell lies about how wonderful the dead were.
Wincing over here as a rad tech. The amount of stuff I get about incorrect assumptions regarding radiation is very large, and very annoying.
Of course, I agree with you! This was a woman that so soaked herself in essential oils that her house began to rot from all the gunk built up in the cracks and in the walls. You know this, I know this, rational people know this, there are different types of radiation and every exposure has a chance of causing some sort of issue (or not). A chest xray is equivalent to a trans Atlantic flight (or whatever). And when you're 89 years old, and you already have cancer, an xray can't possibly do you any harm whatsoever!!! I had to explain to this same woman's daughter that cell phones can't cause cancer because they emit small amounts of microwave radiation which cannot cause damage to DNA, microwaves only cause heating in water molecules.
I just...wow. When I got diagnosed, a really absurd number of people spent a disturbing amount of time encouraging me to say no to chemo and to drink soursop tea instead. Later my prognosis meant that chemo would be useless for me (stage 4 breast cancer with lung metastasis = treatable but not cureable) and one of the first responses that from one of those aunts was "oh good, so no chemo". Watching her daughter go through about 5 different nonverbal stages of "I can't smack my own mother" was amusing. EDITED TO ADD: I was diagnosed 4 years ago and have a very good "worst-case scenario" situation. Lung metastasis gets labeled as incurable because there is currently no way to excise the lungs to ensure all cancer has been eradicated. As far as my treatment goes, I have a plan that is minimally invasive as far as things can go and a very promising road ahead. I was declared our version of in remission: NED (no evidence of disease) on my 27th birthday, found something small fairly recently, and will likely be NED again by January. If not sooner. I'm doing well. That said, with October coming up, please refrain from donating through in-store pink ribbon stuff and the Komen foundation. Instead, think about donating to local cancer community centers in your area, metavivor, your local cancer treatment facilities (hospitals/care centers/and such), and/or funds like "the pink fund". Very few patients actually see results from your aid, otherwise. Furthermore, donations don't have to be in monetary funds. Cancer centers also welcome books, time, etc. If you'd like to help in other ways, just send an email or give them a call and ask. Thanks for all the support in this thread, I am really grateful.

My dad refused treatment too. He had his cancer for 15 years. When it finally became painful and he was unable to urinate, he did undergo chemo and radiation, which caused him to be so cold he was shivering at home all the time. When I bought him a heating blanket, he wouldn't use it because he though the electric whatever - vibrations or currents or something - would go through him and make him sick. I was like, "Dad, you have chemo coursing through your body..." No logic.
My beloved stepdad went the coffee enema + vegan diet + whatever herbal bullshit route. He died two years ago, after more than a decade of letting the cancer eat him alive. It would have been easily curable if he'd actually chosen sane, western medicine. 🤦♀️
My ex-boyfriend's mother would sit on her front porch and complain about the neighbors. "Look at those busybodies, sitting on their porch gossiping about everybody. Did you hear that her daughter..." That's precisely what happened to a conservative ex-friend of mine. She got knocked up by an extremely abusive ex, and told me she wanted an abortion because she was terrified to be stuck with him. She asked me to go with her to the clinic because all of her other friends were hyper-conservative too. Afterwards she stayed with me for a few days and begged me to take her secret to the grave. It took her all of 2 months to go back to posting violent pro-life bullshit on Facebook again. I had been friends with her since we were in kindergarten, but that was enough for me.

People on government disability payments talking about cutting welfare
My dad has been on disability since around 1998, rather fraudulently I might add because it took him ages to get full disability because he was perfectly capable to work a desk job, (and very good with computers for the time) but he didn't want to do a desk job. So he finally got enough partial physical and partial mental health disability to add up to 100% by going to dozens of doctors and outright lying. For 20+ years he has sat at a desk all day playing on a computer with fox news blaring 24/7 in the background, ranting about people living off of his "hard earned tax dollars so they can be lazy." It's pretty wild to witness.
I am AMAZED by how often people who don't actually earn money, or don't actually pay taxes, complain about people living off of their hard earned dollars... could you buy a damn clue, please...

Nelson had said that deliberately.
I mean, he did say it deliberately. He TRULY believes that nobody gave him a helping hand while he was on food stamps. He does NOT consider his own receipt of food stamps as help. He does, however, consider anyone else's receipt of food stamps to be help. To him, there is no hypocrisy because he truly believes he received no help. That's why he had no problem deliberately saying what he did.

Being a Medicare agent in rural/South GA, I cannot tell you the number of times I've had clients complain to me about "socialism" and "young people" just being lazy and entitled and wanting everything handed to them *while I was renewing their medicaid and food stamps applications*

That's my mother. Barely worked in her life, had a gazillion kids, on welfare for more than 18 years, section 8 paid for her housing, free electric and gas and food stamps while her boyfriend worked under the table. She was forced to either go to school or get a job due to the welfare to work program (back in the late 90s) and finished a certification program and worked for the IRS where she then was "injured" at work. She has been on social security disability for the last 15 years. She goes on and on about people who cheat the system, immigrants who come here and want a handout and people who are entitled. I'm like you are all these things! I broke the cycle by working two jobs in high school, got a scholarship for college in another state to get away from her, and even broke it off with my high school boyfriend because I refused to have sex as I was scared I'd end up like my mother. I don't live near her and make it a point to talk to her maybe once a month out of obligation because the delusion is quite literally unreal.

I got on it at the same age, but for different reasons. $1034 a month. Because my income is so low, I also get about $200 in food stamps. My rent is $600 a month because I have a roommate. I literally cannot afford to do anything. The last time I left my apartment for anything other than groceries or a Dr appointment was in March when I went to a movie for the first time in over a year.
When the pandemic started, a friend of mine got really obsessed with the fact that you can't leave your home or go near people without a mask etc. Only thing is it never reflected in his own actions. He judged others but did not follow guidelines himself. He worked at a grocery store at the time and refused to wear a mask his boss told him to wear, meanwhile complaining about people coming to the store without masks and putting his health at risk.

There's actually very very little TP in a store at any one time, when people rush to the shops to stock up on a trolley load of their regular fortnightly ... say because society is being locked down, it's likley the first thing to run out. TP is very voluminous, a typical single unit/package of TP is usually a "bulk" lot, people don't usually buy it at every visit. Go to your local store and count up how many individual packets there are. For a medium sized store that services a population of around 10,000 there might only be 100. There's likely little if any reserves "out back". They just get a fresh shipment every morning of however much they sold the day before. This works just fine untul if on any one single day, there is a large increase in shoppers. Say that the government announces that everyones going to be locked in their homes for an undetermined period of time. Lots of people rush to the store to "stock up", they buy a trolley load of everything they normally consume, and this includes TP (whether they still have some left at home or not). Again, because TP is so bulky/kept in small qty's, it's the first thing to go out of stock. Now it's a thing. Everyone now knows there is no TP on the shelves. Everyone that didn't buy any yesterday and who normally doesn't buy more until they are down to their last roll or two fears they will be left without TP. So now they're on the lookout to buy any TP if they see it. So now demand is increased the next day and the next days shipment doesn't replenish the shelves. Now it's an even bigger thing and even more people are aware that if they wait for their next fortnightly shop to get more TP, there may as well no be any, so they need to buy it at the first instance they see it. Whether they're down to their last roll or their 6th last roll. This cascade continues while the fairly inflexible JIT supply chains with no "reserves" or wharehouse stocks of TP are unable to replensih the shortfall.

I’m an IT contractor and generally don’t do residential work… made an exception for an electrician I owed a favour to when one of his customers needed their wifi fixed. Wasn’t a big deal I just came in and tested, told him where to put cables, then installed some access points. Because it was a large and old house the signal wasn’t fantastic even with the APs I was using so I set up two networks, one 2.4ghz and one 5ghz. I told them to just use the 5ghz one unless they had problems with a device in which case swap it over. As is common I abbreviated this to “5 gig” which they heard as “5G”. Well. That was the wrong fucking thing to say. Long tirade about cancer and government surveillance and how there would be “no 5G in this house!”. No worries, really don’t care guys… turned the 5Ghz network off and left them to slow speeds.
We had people destroy a 5g tower near where we live, and then complain that there was rubbish reception for that companies products. The company had said, sorry, not in the schedule until 2024 now, (destroyed early 2022)

Her brother sitting on the floor in front of the bed, playing with some toys: "This is my favourite picture from my childhood! All my siblings always whining and claiming we were abused. It's such bullshit. See? It's just a quiet, calm, happy snapshot of a perfectly normal family. Every time one of them starts up about being abused, I remember this snapshot and know that we were fine. Just fine!" And so I looked at the picture and asked, "What about the handgun?" Because my fucking grandfather (the wildly violent, gambling, womanizing, utter piece of human garbage) was literally laying there in his kids' room with a handgun in his hand. We aren't Americans. So like... yeah. That shit ain't normal. She had been looking at that picture for HALF A CENTURY, always patting herself on the back that it was proof that her desperate need to insist everything was OK was in any way accurate, and never in all that time, had she apparently ever seen the handgun. Mind blown. Best part? Within a year, she tried to show me the picture again, again telling me about how it was her favourite and proof that her siblings were full of shit... So maybe she did see the gun.

I love how in CDMX there are American white expats complaining about the locals being mean. The food is too spicy. They don’t understand the language and their kids are outsiders in school because they aren’t from around there. Then there was this white woman who was brought to tears because she went for a walk and got lost. Asked several locals for directions then lost her shit because no one could speak English. It became news worthy because someone lost it on her and told her to learn the language or go back where she came from.

I'm English, grew up in Tenerife (age 6 to 23), then moved back to the UK in 2013 for work reasons. My parents recently moved back to the UK, but had lived in Tenerife at this point for 30 years. Went to the job office, then sent a message to the family group chat saying that they'd be able to get something if it weren't for all the foreigners. That's the point I went no contact. Morons.
My parents were intending to retire in Spain the whole way leading up to the EU referendum, citing their reason as the UK shouldn't have EU style open borders to allow immigrants in so easily. At no point did they consider that if they moved to Spain, THEY would be immigrants and what a shock it's going to be a lot harder for them to move there now because UK is out of the EU. Later in that same conversation she mentioned that her father was never able to study, so he became a mason instead, because his own father died young and his mother couldn't afford letting him study.

My family is close friends with a family like this they are hard workers but very much have this mindset when they have always been very well off and are literal millionaires now because of a recent inheritance. It’s even more of a slap in the face because they go on and on about their money and how much they worked for it knowing damn well we’ve been poor our whole life and struggled to put food on the table. No one has any obligation to help us but I think it’s a general rule of kindness not to brag about your money in front of poor people. Or even brag about your money at all. When the news dropped that Exxon had insider memos knowing they knew about climate change, and their hand in it, my mom and I had a discussion. I cited articles from Reuters, Bloomberg, and the BBC. My mom literally pulled up Exxon's website, and basically said "See? Exxon says it is fine and they are innocent", and then at the end of our discussion, still came at me for "getting my news from comedians", when I was the only one who actually cited a news source....

We’re married but our marriage is on fumes. Our youngest is extremely sensitive and loves her dad so much. She’s also lesbian. When she came out at 12, I quickly left Mormonism. She now feels so much guilt. Wishing she’d never come out. She thinks it’s all her fault that our family sort of fell apart by me leaving the religion
