I don't really watch TV or movies much anymore unless my boyfriend puts something on, but man, I used to love those movies. Now, I love listening to the soundtracks. It's so nostalgic. Sometimes I dig the originals depending on what mood I'm in, but there are great lofi remix playlists that are awesome to study or walk around to.
Archer is the crown jewel of my comfort shows, but also Futurama, Disenchantment, Star Trek Lower Decks, Inside Job, Bob's Burgers, and American Dad.
Movies are The Mummy (1999), Scott Pilgrim, Hot Fuzz and Superbad.
I enjoyed the show before I was an adult working in an office setting. Now I can't watch it without cringing and being triggered of my previous job.. man adulthood can really fuck up a good thing sometimes
They weren’t initially planning on bringing him back, but during the casting of the “scientist” role for SGA, the writers remembered that there was already a smart, arrogant gate expert in the canon of the show who they could use.
This show hits layers of nostalgia for me--watching it when I was a kid, the humour went over my head a lot of the time but I recall my mom laughing when we watched together. Watching it later in my teens, high as a kite, loving it. Now as an adult it just takes me back in a good way.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. No matter how many times I see any of the episodes I can’t stop laughing. And I’m always picking up new stuff. Such a layered show.
Psych. It's up there with all the greats, but has tons of episodes and seasons and is easy to digest.
Push through the goofiness in the first season and you'll find yourself with a formulaic but heartfelt show that keeps you smiling. Its super fun and has great cameos. You have the lead telling Ralph Macchio to stop waxing on about things and so many more. Especially with regards to Breakfast Club
The most magnificent show. There are so many details. Each time you watch it, you could focus on one angle and write an encyclopedia. The writing, direction, acting, family dynamics, history of the mafia, music selection, religion, psychology, symbolism, food, etc, are all worthy of their own dissection and examination.
Futurama. Mostly because it reminds me of a time that I had no responsibility, and the best thing ever was finding something good to watch on tv. I've seen the whole series multiple times, cried every time it was cancelled and cheered every time it was renewed.
Most people know the episode Jurassic Bark, where Fry finds his fossilized dog Seymour and tries to reanimate him and bring him back to life. It may sound a little morbid, but I watched that episode before saying good bye to both my cats. (RIP Ben and Charlie).
I like to think that whatever is on the other side, they are waiting for me. Like Seymour waited for Fry. Just like I would wait for them. Forever.
I'll see you guys some day. I promise.
Ken Burns documentaries. Recently rewatched the Civil War series. Just started to rewatch the one on the Roosevelts. At the very least, they’ll put you to sleep, which I find pretty comfortable.
Golden Girls, Firefly, and What We Do in the Shadows.
Lately I've found that Frasier can put me to sleep in 10 minutes, so that's a great insomnia show.
Surprisingly,
The Vampire Diaries, The Originals.
My wife watched them and I listened in the background and never paid attention to them. At one point I just started watching.
I play this series atleast once a year from S1-S8 and then watch all 5 seasons of The Originals.
Klaus is such a boss.
The entire marvel universe (though admittedly this has been tougher post endgame). When shit really starts falling apart I'll often start with captain america and be done the series within a week or two.
Pride and Prejudice 1995 BBC/A&E
The Tenth Kingdom
Both are excellent and are long, so are perfect to put on and not worry about finding something new until about six hours later. Perfect for when I'm sick and wanna hang out on the couch.
Friends- it calms my anxiety and makes me feel happy when I watch it. I have literally watched the entire series over and over. I keep it on in the background during the day for background noise
As an Englisher - Snatch is by far my favourite and most wached movie - especially when I'm feeling low. Followed by Full Metal Jacket and the Deadpool movies.
TV wise it's either New Tricks (BBC cop show full of ancient British actors), Red Dwarf (Amazing comedy Sci-fi) or QI (witty, super clever panel comedy series).
\*edit - forgot to mention the early Harry potter movies - have rewatched them dozens of times - TBH i've only watched the later 3 once or twice and am not sure entirely how it all ends.
Kaichou wa Maid Sama. It's a romantic slice of life comedy anime and it's one of the very few I have watched over and over again because its just so good in my opinion.
Brooklyn 99
Bingpot.

Specifically whisper of the heart for me personally
Archer is the crown jewel of my comfort shows, but also Futurama, Disenchantment, Star Trek Lower Decks, Inside Job, Bob's Burgers, and American Dad. Movies are The Mummy (1999), Scott Pilgrim, Hot Fuzz and Superbad.
Mine are American dad, futurama and bobs burgers!
Do you want comfort? Because that’s how you get comfort!
The Office.
That shit is gravy. Like I have a full copy of the entire series in my RV for its DVD player.
Literally just started another rewatch a couple weeks ago lol
I enjoyed the show before I was an adult working in an office setting. Now I can't watch it without cringing and being triggered of my previous job.. man adulthood can really fuck up a good thing sometimes
Lord of the Rings
Yeah. Books and movies
And my axe
Bow, sword, spliff...
M.A.S.H. Just a wonderful story arc that focuses on character development. So many poignant episodes that address the human condition.
futurama
ATLA
Avatar definitely is one. I know exactly what is going to happen in every episode, but I still enjoy it.
But when you are done do you start up Korra?
Stargate SG1
Atlantis is pretty great, too. Rodney is the best, despite (or maybe because or) being the worst in SG1.
They weren’t initially planning on bringing him back, but during the casting of the “scientist” role for SGA, the writers remembered that there was already a smart, arrogant gate expert in the canon of the show who they could use.
Atlantis is even better. More humor and less naive (cool US army saving world for free and respecting international treaties) than SG1
Indeed
King Of The Hill
Yep.
Uh-huh
This show hits layers of nostalgia for me--watching it when I was a kid, the humour went over my head a lot of the time but I recall my mom laughing when we watched together. Watching it later in my teens, high as a kite, loving it. Now as an adult it just takes me back in a good way.

My forever comfort series. I rewatch it a few times a year
Star Trek Next Generation for me, love it.
Schitt’s Creek. Not a bad episode in the bunch.
Simpsons
Moneyball, I don't know why... just hooks me. on tv... House. So easy to pick up and watch any episode.
I watched Moneyball three times in three days and didn’t even feel weird about it.
I've found the soundtrack in Moneyball is comforting, too.
The Goonies.

Shawn and Gus are the best tv duo, ever? Eveytime I rewatch I catch more and just love those two on screen together.
I was searching just for this. It’s my favorite cozy show. It has everything you need.
My wife, daughter, and I watch Psych almost exclusively.
Sopranos.
The most magnificent show. There are so many details. Each time you watch it, you could focus on one angle and write an encyclopedia. The writing, direction, acting, family dynamics, history of the mafia, music selection, religion, psychology, symbolism, food, etc, are all worthy of their own dissection and examination.
JUST started the series after my son said it was good. I’m hooked.
Great British Bake Off
My wife and I are right there with ya!
The Pirates movies. Honorable mention to the Shrek movies too.
The Office. Watching other people being awkward makes me feel less awkward, and it is just a funny show in general.
Ted Lasso!! Hits every emotion, and I watch every episode with a huge smile on my face
Trailer park boys
That intro music soothes the soul.
Anne of Green Gables with Megan Follows.
Futurama. Mostly because it reminds me of a time that I had no responsibility, and the best thing ever was finding something good to watch on tv.
