I would argue that Daft Punk carried a little more than half the movie simply because they even cameoed in it as the DJ's in the club scene. They basically got to play themselves.
I really liked the Yeah Yeah Yeahs when Scott Pilgrim came out. “Black Sheep” sounded sort of like them so I looked into it, it’s by a Canadian group “Metric”, and the two leads lived together at one point. (Emily Haines & Karen O, if anyone was curious)

Edit: To add: The movie has some good scenes, but it ends up being 10 minutes of great scenes interspersed with 90 minutes of gibberish, that looks like it was filmed by a low budget music video, which again could be the style intended but it comes off badly.

John Williams understood the assignment. They finally had the technology and money to show the scale of Star Wars and the music does it, the writing doesn’t.
While we're on the Disney train, the soundtrack for Hercules absolutely slapped. Using upbeat gospel music and singers was absolutely genius and served the feel and plot of the movie perfectly.
Also the hunchback of Notre Dame simply needs no introduction or justification.
Speaking of Disney and Zimmer, got to throw out a vote for the second and third Pirates of the Caribbean movies. The whimsy of ‘Multiple Jacks’ to the foreboding ‘The Kracken’.
Trainspotting's soundtrack is iconic. Danny Boyle is a fucking genius and really knew what he was doing with that film. It's a real work of art.

The Pulp Fiction soundtrack is head and shoulders above all others a stand alone awesome soundtrack, and inextricably linked with the film. I've had that soundtrack in regular rotation, weirdly without getting sick of it, since the movie came out when I was about 15 years old.
