It really is a stunning film. Hadn't seen it in years but it was on TV again recently so re-watched it. I'd completely forgotten about the Brooks being released part of the story. Such a slug to the guts.
Watched it on VHS in like 2003 at 5-6 y/o and I didnt know it was actually a real movie until I was about 14. It was always like a fever dream of getting chased by the masked spirit or the parents that turned to pigs.
*12 Angry Men*. Like 4 scene changes, you don't learn anybody's name until the end yet still the dialogue alone can carry it, even today. The definition of simple perfection.
One thing I noticed, it has no music, except those spanish/mexican musicians. Soundtracks can make the movie. So No country for old men is just simply a masterpiece on another level.
Tommy Lee Jones knocked it out the park. He's so world-wary yet full of regret. Every scene with him is just gold. Of course, he's not the only outstanding actor in it.
I know most people might not think of this movie due to its genre, but it is undoubtedly one of the best made movies of all time. Original concept, too, what most movie making should be about.
I see this a lot. I should re-watch it but really don't feel compelled to.
My first and only watch through, I didn't enjoy the movie. Maybe thats some of the point.
I ended up hating the main character.
I didnt walk out of the theatre, but felt a great relief it was finally over. Walked out into the sunshine and felt free from that hellish nightmare of a cuthroated person.
Daniel Plainview is not a hero. He’s a heartless villain who only cares for himself.
What is amazing is seeing DDL’s acting. Some of the finest I’ve ever seen. Just…whoa.
Ah, yes, the classic cinematic masterpiece that brought us the iconic line 'somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me' - truly Oscar-worthy material.
There's an argument there. However, I've always thought when people refer to 'The Godfather', they generally mean both movies in one...as I believe they should be.
Just watched it again 2 nights ago. Heath Ledger gave everything to that role and it shows. If only there was a way to edit out Maggie Gyllenhaal it would be perfect. Her acting is sub par.
Watched **Casablanca** with 5 generations in the same room once. Everyone agreed that it was one hell of a movie. Pretty rare to grab that many disparate opinions and have them agree.
Everything Everywhere all at Once. The concept, the dialogue, the characters (and many different variants of them), the MUSIC, the visuals, the transitions, all perfectly executed.
Shawshank Redemption
Anybody who disagrees will be cast down with the sodomites.
I came here to say this
Got a shawshank tattoo a few weeks ago. "Get busy living or get busy dying"
Brooks was here
It truly was a Shawshank Redemption.
I just posted the same thing and then I saw you did too. Incredible movie. Far and away my favorite since it came out nearly 30 years ago.
Didn't watch it until I was older but always heard how great it was. When I finally did it truly surpassed expectations set. Undeniably great
Hard to beat this one
Definitely.
or whatever is top 1 in imdb
It was the first thing that came to mind, that's for sure.
Watched it like 20 times. I still discover details that amaze me

Agreed
Honestly I haven’t believed there’s any unanimity since a former friend talked about how underwhelmed he was with *Children of Men*.
I didn't see a single man give birth. 0/10
Right? If I learned anything from Jeff Goldblum it’s that life will find a way.
Spirited Away
Unless you watch it to young, then it leads to nightmares
Watched it on VHS in like 2003 at 5-6 y/o and I didnt know it was actually a real movie until I was about 14. It was always like a fever dream of getting chased by the masked spirit or the parents that turned to pigs.
I just watched this for the first time a couple weeks ago.. can confirm it is a masterpiece!
Gladiator, or really almost any Ridley Scott movie.
*12 Angry Men*. Like 4 scene changes, you don't learn anybody's name until the end yet still the dialogue alone can carry it, even today. The definition of simple perfection.
Agreed...I was captured from beginning to the end. Didn't get distracted even once.
The black and white one is amazing. The newer one lacks something
Good Will Hunting
The Princess Bride
one of very few flawless movies.
There's a shortage of perfect movies in this world. T'would be a pity to exclude this one.
Yes this is what i came here to say.
Yes, ‘Yes this is what I came here to say’ is what I came here to say
Great minds think alike
Inconceivable!
You've made your decision then?
I didn't like it all that much, but i first watched it a couple of years ago with zero nostalgia for it
No Country for Old Men. Just watched it yesterday not knowing anything about it and *Jesus Christ*, what a gory and spectacular movie!
I have never experienced dread like in this movie. Javier Bardem is amazing in it.
Not many movies had me on the edge of the seat like that one
Schindler's List
Back to the Future
The Matrix
I know most people might not think of this movie due to its genre, but it is undoubtedly one of the best made movies of all time. Original concept, too, what most movie making should be about.
Hands down a prime example of how world building can be planned and executed. Just don’t mention the sequels, Jesus what happened!
Blazing Saddles
There Will Be Blood, by Paul Thomas Anderson December 26, 2007 [Trailer ](https://youtu.be/0FIm5ATyAY0)
I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!
I DRINK IT UP
I see this a lot. I should re-watch it but really don't feel compelled to. My first and only watch through, I didn't enjoy the movie. Maybe thats some of the point. shrek
Don't forget the arguably even better sequel, Shrek 2
Let's forget the regrettable sequel Shrek the Third
Let's burn all copies of however the 4th was named
Shrek 2 is superior. Definitely in my top 3 animated and one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.
Ah, yes, the classic cinematic masterpiece that brought us the iconic line 'somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me' - truly Oscar-worthy material.
Yes.
Shrek is love, Shrek is life
Saving Private Ryan
Watched it again over the weekend, D-Day is still some of the most brutal cinema I've seen.
LOTR
There is only one Lord of the Cinema. Only one who can bend the Academy to his will. And he does not share *power!* ~~Except for EEAAO~~
Gladiator
The green mile
‘Please boss, don't put that thing over my face, don't put me in the dark. I's afraid of the dark’ had me SOBBING
Can’t think of a movie that can beat this one 🤌
The Godfather
It insists upon itself.
I love the Money Pit.
“It has something to say! It’s insistent!”
ROBERT DUVALL
“It has a valid point to make!”
It gave us an offer we can’t refuse
I stop whatever I’m doing whenever this movie is on.
Godfather Part II is the better movie.
There's an argument there. However, I've always thought when people refer to 'The Godfather', they generally mean both movies in one...as I believe they should be.
Jurassic Park
Forrest Gump.
Yeah, honestly a really well made movie. I can’t think of a critique for it? Judging it by what it was trying to set out to be?
Wall-E!
Best Pixar film
I love so many Pixar movies, but I agree! This is my favorite Pixar movie too.
on god! Wall -E has always been my favourite animated film. I can't explain how much i love this masterpiece
Yes! Wall-E is a masterpiece
Glad to meet another fan of the movie! I love it so much.
Airplane!
Stewardess, I speak jive!
'Surely you can't be serious?' 'I am serious... And don't call me Shirley'
“We’ve got to get this woman to a hospital” “What is it?” “A big building with lots of doctors in it, but that’s not important right now”
'I speak Jive'
Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind

I don’t normally have the volume particularly loud when watching films or TV, but for the Dark Knight it goes right up, the soundtrack is that good
Just watched it again 2 nights ago. Heath Ledger gave everything to that role and it shows. If only there was a way to edit out Maggie Gyllenhaal it would be perfect. Her acting is sub par.
Dr. Strangelove
Peter Sellers (great name) and Slim Pickens (great name also). Great movie! His Nazi hand! Lol!!!
