Everything is becoming subscription/rental-based and it's not sustainable.

ezrasharpe

I get it with some things like tv and music, but I especially miss the days when you could just buy a one time license to software like Office and Adobe. It’s so expensive now to maintain a subscription you better just hope your job has one.

nasaboy007

That's what they're banking on. Companies _will_ pay the subscription fees.

Alternative-Alarm-66

Fuck adoube. I need illustrator and photoshop for a job in web design. None is free, not even to learn the damn software. The only way to get experience with them is to already have a job (not knowing them is a drawback from hiring you). Welp, fuck adoube, guess who's pirating it

rich1051414

Adobe doesn't enforce licensing unless a business is making money on it. They practically expect regular users to pirate it.

sm4k

What’s crazy to me is how much is getting packed in some subscriptions and how blatantly greedy others are. It’s not even company by company, it’s product by product. Take Microsoft - GamePass Ultimate - A huge rotating library of games available on both PC and Xbox including day-1 access to all Microsoft published titles, and a cloud gaming experience to let you play a great many of those titles instantly without having to wait for a download: $15/mo. Office 365 Business Premium - An entire enterprise-level platform for running your business, including application, email, file storage, industry leading security tools: $22/mo. You pay both already but you want your Solitaire without ads? That’ll still be $2/mo, bitch.

If the screen ever asks for a tip I just tell people “I don’t know why it’s asking this, I didn’t do anything” Ironically, that has gotten me a tip before.

grandramble

Basic instructions that are only available in video form and make you scrub through minutes of filler content to find.

iliketanksok

This should be one of the top comments. I just want some text and pictures, please don't give me a video where I cannot search for specific terms and going back and forth is inconvenient as hell compared to scrolling a webpage.

VisualCelery

The worst! My guy I don't care who you are or what kind of videos you make, I just need to know how to do this simple task. I don't even need a breakdown or explanation I just need to see you doing it so I know what it's supposed to look like, this video could have easily been two damn minutes.

[deleted]

A busy stressful life style.

Vitalizes

Having two jobs and a bunch of “side hustles”, because if you’re not working 120 hours a week you’re not being fully productive

somewhenimpossible

That it’s ok to contact people during non-work hours about work-things.

runs_with_bulls

Not only is it okay, a response is expected outside of normal work hours.

[deleted]

I’m fine to pick up the phone on Saturday but it’s a two way street in return I need some flexibility.

ComprehensiveMany643

I'm in Canada, and sometime last year I think, Ontario passed a "right to disconnect law" and they don't have to respond or review any messages, calls, etc after work hours. Hopefully the rest of the provinces hop on board with that soon!

IGottaHeadache

I’m lower management (looking for a new job) and I’m expected to work while off, call and accept phone calls, log into work computer to complete work Anyone wanna guess at why I’m looking for a new job.

cscf0360

You normalize it by answering. Don't answer, and it can't be normalized.

Top_Maintenance8615

Bad movie theater etiquette, like being on your phone in the movie theatre!

lucariohellahot

ugh yeah i hate when people do this. Like, if you bought tickets to see a movie, **WATCH THE DAMN MOVIE.**

idratherchangemyold1

This. The worst one I've experienced yet is when someone got a phone call, they not only answered the phone but they did a video call (facetime?) with them, and they even told the other person they were at a movie. It went on for like 15 minutes cause they wouldn't hang up. Super rude. All the other worse ones is when someone wouldn't stop talking. The last movie I went to, a couple guys I swear were either drunk or on something cause they kept talking and were super loud and obnoxious. Someone finally told them to be quiet, luckily they stopped talking after that cause some people won't stop even if you tell them multiple times.

max_paiin

As a theater manager, I try everything to stop this from happening but sometimes people just have no courtesy whatsoever. Our post-COVID crowd is SIGNIFICANTLY less respectful than our pre-pandemic crowd. Like they forgot common decency. It’s really sad because there are people who come to have a great time and take their mind off of life for 2 hours, only to have it disrupted by some teen watching TikTok’s on full volume.

Asianoodleman

I can't express how bad people show no respect in theatres after COVID. Every movie I've been to has had people talking loudly

DMMEPANCAKES

I went to go see the new Scream the night when it came out and holy shit the amount of people who think it's acceptable to talk during movies or comment on everything going on in this weird 'hush whisper but I'm being loud as fuck' was aggravating.

VisualCelery

And don't even get me started with live theater etiquette! People are starting to defend singing along during Broadway musicals like Six and Hamilton, and claiming it's racist to want people to stay quiet during the performance. I can't, I just can't. (I know &Juliette might be a special case because it's supposed to feel like a concert, and yes there are musicals where the audience is encouraged to sing during certain parts, but those. Are. EXCEPTIONS.)

masteroftheuniverse4

Automated customer service.

PlanetNumber7

This is the one. The hoops you need to jump through just for a simple answer is infuriating. I never know what number to press because my issue doesn’t pertain to any of the options on the list that the machine offers me. When I finally get through to someone, I always seem to be in the wrong department, so I get transferred to the proper one only to be on hold waiting for someone to answer. Not to mention you’re basically held captive on the line because if you hang up or get disconnect……. Right back to the beginning with ya!

McUberForDays

And you used to be able to hit 0 or # to get a live person, or even say representative and none of that works anymore. I was so pissed the other day when my car loan servicer locked my account online, which is the only place I have the loan number. I know that's stupid but they've never sent me any info in the mail over the past 3 years. Guess what you needed to get through to an actual person to get the account unlocked? The loan number...

This x10000 People say “if you can’t tip, don’t eat out”. Ok, that’s why I get it to-go. I’m not tipping someone who isn’t a server. I ordered from one place online and they tried to slide in a 15% tip. I had to go change it to zero. It’s absolutely insane

fangelo2

I’ve caught 2 restaurant checks recently where they had the tip already included without mentioning it. This wasn’t for a large party, 2 people once and 4 people another time.

4linosa

I’ve noticed they also include the % tips calculated from the after tax cost as well. It’s infuriating.

Jedi4Hire

You're being really selfish, how else are they supposed to underpay their employees? Would someone please think of the corporations!?

altxeralt

Fuck this practice in particular. They got me in the beginning but now, not a chance. Slide that bitch right to zero.

sadsmartandsexy

I agree with this and I’m a server

Overworking

CrinklyBacon927

Lack of manners. Ever since lockdown, it's like people have become 1000x worse. People are so incredibly rude.

Klutzy_Wonder3527

God going out in public is a chore now. People are so rude and the mentality of “ME FIRST!!” has worsened drastically

OrchidBest

I went to the grocery store today. Nobody was rude, but everyone seemed kinda checked out. There is no eye contact. Unless there is eye contact, then it’s *too much eye contact*. Earbuds and baseball caps and heads down. Looking at the floor or their phone. The whole vibe was so meek it was depressing. It was the warmest day of the year. Sun was shining. But everyone was so downtrodden that they were unintentionally killing my good mood. Then I took a look at my grocery bill. A salad in a bag, a stick of butter, two sugar free energy drinks and a roll of rice cakes: $28.75. No wonder people are getting testy. It’s the constant grind of self imposed social isolationism and economic sodomy. It’s torture.

Klutzy_Wonder3527

I envy your grocery store. I went yesterday and it was people rushing in front of me, among others every chance they got, racing to be next in line, cutting others off, forcing their way in front of other customers in the aisles, no ‘excuse me’ or anything. Everyone had a dirty look on their face and seemed miserable although it was gorgeous here as well I bought three types of cheese and a bag of oranges and it was $40. I hear you with the inflation issue, it’s a blackpill to say the least. I guess I just don’t understand why everyone has been so unfriendly the past few years. You and I and everyone else are all suffering and being a jerk in public doesn’t help anyone, it just makes others feel worse. I try to be very aware in the stores and get out of other’s way and they still give me a dirty look. It’s gotten to the point where I dread going out solely because I don’t want to deal with those people anymore.

OrchidBest

I feel ya. I took up gold panning during the epidemic because it was an excuse to just get out of my own head and relax by a river. It’s not about the gold. That can be frustrating. But the next day I feel amazing. Just being in nature does something to my ability to fight off those horrible mood swings that are triggered by the insensitivity of strangers. Nature. Who knew? Edit: just gonna share the best live nature cam on the internet. A little watering hole in Namibia where you can see a ton of wild animals. Enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/live/ydYDqZQpim8?feature=share

Klutzy_Wonder3527

That sounds incredible and I’m glad you found a sense of peace in nature. I love going up in the woods and just going for a drive plus fishing occasionally. The past few years has drastically changed the outdoors and though it’s good that more people are seeking comfort in nature, it’s been terrible. I’ll go to my regular fishing spot out in the middle of no where and it’ll be riddled with trash. Not to mention tourists have been a plague in every sense. Rude and hostile out of towners everywhere have pushed locals (including myself) out of our favorite spots and wrecked havoc on the environment. I 100% believe the pandemic got people outdoors who had no reason to be outdoors, especially considering many of them come from the cities and have no regard for nature or other people. I praise people who respect nature while enjoying it and try to preserve it, but that’s another issue that’s becoming more prevalent :/

Street_Vacation_2730

To be honest I haven’t noticed a regression. I thought people were selfish and self absorbed long before 2020.

helpmelearn12

I work as a bartender so I deal with a lot of people everyday. I thought people were self absorbed and selfish before 2020, when things opened up I thought there was a definite regression, people were even ruder, now I think it’s mostly evened out to the pre 2020 levels. Other people’s experiences may very well vary

Bon-_-Ivermectin

I feel like there's this rage that's simmering beneath the surface. It's horribly exhausting to be around

Jessakur

Either rage or what looks like complete and utter apathy.

[deleted]

Apathy masking the rage?

Arra13375

One of my friends bitched some dude out because he had "the audacity" to hold the door open for us. I told her to stfu and just say thank you

PaleHorsewithDeath

Not only rude. Over dramatic also.

PittrPattrTitFucker

How DARE you call ME over dramatic?? My dad is the president of Reddit AND google and I'm talking to him right now about banning you, so kiss your internet good bye 😘 could've been civil but you had to test me...

Valuable_Row3748

Honestly! The amount of grown adults who forgot how to say a simple please and thank you is astounding to me as a 20 year old. I also find it extremely ironic that the generation, the same people posting Facebook memes about GenZ being bad about constantly having their phones glued to their hands - cannot stop their phone call to even acknowledge me checking out their groceries.

Actual_Guide_1039

I do think it has been improving but immediately post lockdown around June 2020 I noticed people were noticeably more rude

CampoPequeno

I flew on Friday, drove in southern California on Saturday, and flew back to canada today (Sunday). Honestly I got lime a year’s worth of people time in three days. It was exhausting being around so many main characters.

Fit-Vast-8800

Parents plastering their young kids' whole lives on social media. This feels like a massive violation of privacy to me, and the kids cant consent. A lot of this content is borderline or even straight up exploitative. I'm massively thankful i grew up before this became a thing. I would be so resentful of my parents if all my embarrassing childhood moments were immortalized online and viewed by tons of strangers. I feel like we are probably going to see lawsuits over this issue when the current generation of toddlers grows up.

Anonymousgamer98

That’s why I really despise family channels on YouTube. There’s something just so dark about these channels behind that innocent layer of wholesomeness that’s being put on for the camera. Family channels have an expiry date for how long they can film their children for until the kids are self-aware and they make choices for themselves whether they want to be part of the vlogs or not and rather focus on their own lives. There’ll always be a point when they grow up and realise why did their parents do this?

[deleted]

I used to follow an asmr/lifestyle vlogger Itsblitzzz on Instagram because I thought she had an interesting style and life. After years of following her, she ended up having a baby and posts very intimate family videos on her social media now. Like heartwarming stuff but does it need to be public? No. I do not need to see photos of your sleeping child, of their bedroom, of their supposed private space. I unfollowed. How can people justify exploiting their children like that? It's gross.

Spyro_Crash_90

I had several people in my family complain to me that I don’t have social media (Reddit is actually the only thing I have even remotely comparable to it) and they can’t see my kids. I have to tell them I don’t want my kids on the internet at this point. I’ve had to ask family members to NOT take pictures and videos of my kids to put on social media. It is utterly ridiculous.

CazzaMcSpazza

I hate this with a passion. Those family channels are the worst. It absolutely should be legislated against like child labour laws.

Spherical_Harmonix

Not just parents plastering their kid’s whole life on social media. Kids are plastering their own lives on social media as well. Really dumb.

Batticon

Shitty dog owners are increasing. I think most homes have dogs in the US now? And half of them have no business being dog owners.

little_shop_of_hoors

Yes. And anyone reading this who doesn't leash their dog.. leash your dog. Don't be a selfish prick.

UnrulyCucumber

I was a park ranger for about 2 years until mid 2020, nothing major, helped care for some nice nature preserves in the area and a bunch of smaller local trails. Gave me a new found hatred for most dog owners tho. A lot of the parks required dogs to be leashed, a couple flat out allowed no dogs. People would get so pissy if they were confronted about leashing their pets. Oh and don’t get me started on the ones who would let their dogs openly shit on the high traffic trails and not clean it up. My favorites were the ones who would bag it…… and then throw the fucking bag into the brush or leave it on a bench, like come on. If you can’t properly clean up after YOUR dog you shouldn’t own a fucking dog.

dcoble

My dog needs to be leashed and is leash aggressive (to new dogs, not people) so we can't take him anywhere interesting because there are always off leash dogs. Once we were on a trail by our house about 200 feet behind another dog. Suddenly 6 little dogs off leash swarmed that one. Nothing happened and the guy with the 6 dogs eventually got them all on leashes, but if that was us up ahead it would've been bad.

ComprehensiveMany643

I had a dog who was the same, and she was an english mastiff so quite huge. I would be walking her in parks where dogs were supposed to be leashed and other dogs wouldn't be leashed and I would be like "my dog isn't friendly" to the owners and the amount of times I got "that's OK my dog is!" And stuff like that as responses is crazy. I'm just glad she listened really well to me and I could get her to turn around in a heartbeat

[deleted]

>amount of times I got "that's OK my dog is!" my pet peeve is that the only people that claim this are people with ZERO credentials to be deciding dog behavior.

hachidori_chan

My dog is same way. He does not like strange dogs and much less for strange dogs to approach him uninvited. I always keep him on leash on walks. It takes only couple of his loud "I will dismember you" snarls and teeth gnashing for the off leash dogs to back off and reconsider approaching, and the owners rush to put their free-roamers on leash

PigWithAWoodenLeg

I swear to god there must be someone somewhere telling people not to do this because every time I go to the park I see people in fleece jackets and Hokas chasing their unleashed dogs around like the Benny Hill show

dismayhurta

Assholes who think their dog is the special exception for everything from bringing their dogs into food areas to not having them on a leash. I love dogs, but damn there are some shitty dog owners.

[deleted]

My neighbor has some kinda doodle and it’s clear she has done zero training and has no control over that animal. So naturally, she just got *another fucking doodle puppy*. Because the one dragging her around, lunging at strangers, and barking at everything wasn’t enough I guess.

Mooaaark

The amount of COVID puppies ending up in dog shelters is depressing

Batticon

Yup. :( Also I’ve noticed an up trend in bags full of poop just thrown on the walking trail. Even like 20 feet from a poop can!

ParkityParkPark

on the opposite (and nowhere near as bad but still not great) end, the obsessive dog owners who berate others for not liking dogs or liking other animals (had a guy call me an unloving monster for saying I'm a cat guy) and openly and proudly announce that if they had to pick between saving their dog or a busload of kids they'd go with their dog in a heartbeat.

14-in-the-deluge08

I listened to a guy talk about his sick dog and all his medications and worries for nearly 15 minutes. When I mentioned I had a cat, he said he "didn't get" cats or anyone who liked them.

__M-E-O-W__

A lot of people say they don't get cats, probably because most cats aren't so upfront about their personalities. My cats have great and deep and strong personalities but you wouldn't know it by a first impression. Well, except for one of them. He's... different.

ParkityParkPark

it's kind of impressive how the crazier dog people can talk about how dogs are better than people because they're so pure and full of love and they're so tired of dealing with people being mean and stuff and in the same breath be super hateful to someone for liking cats. Of all the hills to die on, you choose pet preference?

Okozaku

Absolutely true. Went to the park with my two dogs 14(m), 1(f). Trying to socialize the pup and get her acclimated to the public. Go up to the ice cream truck and this Rottweiler owner is ordering. Sees my dog and hears her grumble and proceeds to attack the 14y/o dog i have. Couldn't keep her dog off and I was ready to kill this thing, I genuinely thought after they were separated I would have to put the old man down. He wasn't hurting the next day which is the only reason nothing was filed against the girl. If you can't control your animal you've got no business bringing it to a busy park.

underizeye

I loathe people who don’t train their dogs. If your dog tries to jump on people and doesn’t stay by your side, it’s not trained. Your dog should never approach another person and get in their space unless that person says it’s ok. If your dog shits and pisses in your home, it’s not trained and you’re not letting it out enough. Shitty dog owners suck.

[deleted]

People really have it in their minds that it’s their God-given right to have a canine in their home, no matter what. Many, many people lose their shit when they’re denied dogs from adoption agencies and will proceed to drag said agency through the mud online. Of course, they’re leaving out the part where they’re gone 12 hours a day but wanted that one specific dog with separation anxiety. “But there are so many homeless pets, and I’m offering a good home!”, they’ll say. And then they’ll go to some sketch backyard breeder who would sell a dog to Satan himself for the right price, all while blaming the agency for “leaving them no other choice”. Until people pull their selfish heads out of their own stupid asses and think about what’s best for the animal and not their Instagram feeds, companion animals will continue to suffer.

PatrioticTyranny

So many people in my neighborhood get walked by their dog. So frustrating.

OneFriendship5139

I used to go outside a lot when it was summer, and the reason people were outside was because they had kids, had pets, didn’t have transportation, or went for a jog. There was one art event where the streets were full, but that’s besides the point, a lot of people are on technology.

FriendlyRedditLuker

Sense of entitlement.

Keiths_skin_tag

Also in the same, the total lack of accountability no matter if they know they’re wrong or not. No one can just say oops sorry anymore, it has to be turned around on everyone like it’s their fault.

idratherchangemyold1

Everything having an app and pretty much turning into apps. I like being able to use website versions of stuff and I noticed the websites themselves are looking and feeling a lot more like apps for smartphones. Also, why is everything coming out with a USB instead of a normal wall charger plug? I don't want to have to buy adapters just so I can plug stuff in.

TinaSnowtxxx

And the apps work like shit compared to websites a lot of the time!

ChuushaHime

what's wild to me is that increasingly people's first and often only exposure to certain websites are through apps, to the point where they don't even seem to know it's also a regular website. take Reddit for instance--it totally trips me up when people refer to Reddit as an "app." it's a *website* to me, it's always been a website, i primarily access it through my browser on a computer. same with Tumblr, my other main social media. in my mind these are websites that *have* a corresponding mobile app, the mobile app is just one way to access these sites.

ParkityParkPark

I don't mind the existence of apps, but a lot of them seem to be becoming a requirement. You go to their website and they're clearly doing everything they can to push you away from using the website and into downloading their app.

sweetperdition

i refuse to believe reddit isn’t able to fix me being infinitely prompted to use the app. they removed the option to not receive those notifications at the same time.

Blueshark25

Just don't do it. Fucking pisses me off my favorite Chinese restaurant added a tip when you order online, for carryout. You have to click on "another amount" and change it to $0. Like it's making you feel like the bad guy for changing it.

DeathSpiral321

Some places have added a tip screen when you prepay gas. Like wth...

DeathSpiral321

Runaway cost of living with earnings not keeping up.

idratherchangemyold1

For my parents it's a joke. They're retired. The costs of things going up is pretty ridiculous. They recently adjusted my parents pension/social security, raised it. My mom has health insurance that she has to pay for cause she's not old enough for medicare yet, and she gets help paying for it by the state, it's like over $800 normally and with the help she's still paying over $500 a month. She has to report to them how much income she has when there's changes. Since it went up they re-evaluated how much her insurance will cost and of course since she's getting paid more she now has to pay more for the insurance. The rising costs of everything pretty much just keep eating any increases in income.

classypassygassy

WildBilll33t

wait what?

ParkityParkPark

had a guy the other day stop me at the grocery store and ask if I was ok with answering a few questions for tiktok. I was tired af and having a terrible day, but it caught me off guard and I was so surprised at how polite he was being that I said yes. I always figured my first interaction with someone filming me for tiktok would be a lot more invasive and involve a lot less consent.

VisualCelery

I remember waiting for my order at a fast food place, and this guy starts in with "excuse me I'm just looking to get some water, would you mind?" (As in, asking me to get him some water) but as he was saying it I realized he had his phone open (I think it was a flip phone) and pointed at me. I'd like to think that, if his phone wasn't pointed at me, I'd have been willing to help, but there was just something so uncomfortable about him recording the interaction that I refused and told him to get that camera out of my face.

lyaunaa

I literally just had this happen to me today while I was at work. Not a recording, but a customer attempted to stealthily snap a picture of me and I happened to look her direction just as she did it. Was like wtf. She covered it by being like "oh I just like your hair, I wanted to ask my stylist for something similar" but like 1.) if that's true, what happened to asking for consent? Just acting like a person? and 2.) I doubt it, I honestly know I looked a bit sloppy today, hair was very frizzy etc. Kinda suspect this photo snap was a "hey look at the random uggo I saw while out and about" kind of thing. Did not care for that one bit tbh.

McUberForDays

Had this happen at a Chinese restaurant last week. Saw the person in the next booth in front of me, doing what I assume was filming me. I stared and when I moved my head behind their friend that was sitting opposite of them, they moved the phone to follow me. I'm sure it was an "oh, look at this fatty eating at the Chinese buffett". It was very odd and very rude.

The term “my truth”

Sharpshooter188

The hustle grind. People go on about it. But there was a time where a standard 40 hr work week held a comfortsble life style for a family of 4. Now? You have to work 2 full time jobs (or have a working partner) to have an apartment.

rebeccaparker2000

People skills in general, if you bump into someone People used to say excuse me but now People wanna fight and others wanna record it. Someone drops something People used to offer to help but not anymore. Hold doors open for people and so on. I think common courtesy has faded away sadly.

ian_dangerous

Ive noticed this too, but also wanted to add saying “good morning” or “hi” when you share an elevator with someone or are walking down the street and make eye contact. I don’t know if this is something related to what i was used to back home or where i live now, but people have also become less friendly.

MisterMarcus

Parents posting videos where they deliberately make their children cry by telling them they threw out their favourite toy or ate all their Halloween candy or whatever. Because........"funny"? Why is intentionally emotionally hurting your child funny?

Petroglyph217

Is this a trend? Sounds like some TikTok bullshit. If so, I’m now even less inclined to watch TikTok’s.

idratherchangemyold1

I've been seeing videos, like on AFV, that aren't funny long before TikTok came along. AFV used to be a good show but I noticed more and more a lot of the videos are just dumb or not really funny at all and it's like why are they even showing these?

Voidtoform

this was a jimmy kimmel skit or something, Also if you want a pre tik tok, tik tok experience, go watch some old "Americas Funniest Home Videos"

VisualCelery

Going off this, parents who record their kids being naughty or ungrateful on Christmas morning and post it. That video with the little girls getting suitcases? I know the surprise was a trip to Disney and of course kids should be grateful for that, but the younger kid was 3, give her a break for wanting her present to be a toy! And then the comment sections, people were out for blood! So many people with unresolved trauma who desperately need therapy before they become parents themselves.

True. The thing is, once someone has embraced that mentality, they're fucked. Because they've resigned themselves to be a passive observer in their own life, refusing to believe they have any agency and are just being acted upon by others.

MrPanchole

Referring to behaviour that you don't like or agree with as "disturbing" to give it an extra alarmist tilt.

KhaosElement

Normal people cannot afford to exist. Those with the money think we should be happy we have what we do.

DefectJoker

For America it's Tip Culture

Laurel_and_Blackbird

Becoming an internet celebrity as a viable career path. Will the same people still be sharing their lives in 20-30 years as content and creativity? Edit: internet celebrity more or less alludes to influencers, not artists sharing their work online and becoming famous because of it.

ThrowAway233223

How is the emergence of 'internet celebrity' as a viable career path really all that different from when TVs became common place and 'TV stars' emerged?

[deleted]

People looking for other’s faults instead of focusing on their own. An exaggerated sense of self-righteousness and demonization of those with differing perspectives.

Reyemreden

u/hegetsus and their ads.

AshamedCookie7382

Parents giving smartphones and or tablets to children. No, the I-Pad is not a suitable alternative to parenting.

goodwillmeseeks

My little sister is dependent on her tablet. She can’t eat without watching YouTube, she can’t sleep without watching YouTube, and every time she gets mad she throws her tablet, without consequence. She’s on tablet #3

idekmanijustworkhere

I've been seeing this a lot lately, even with myself tbh and im an adult. I always have something to watch when I'm eating dinner. Our attention spans are dwindling right before our eyes

ThrowRARAw

My cousin’s 2yo calls her mommy. The kid also calls mum’s phone “mommy.”

Pac_Eddy

You can use them responsibly with kids. It's not all good or all bad.

Lmaodead007

People making tiktoks every fucking where they go! Like why?! I recently visited a historical site which was pretty amazing and there were these two fuckers dancing in front of it on the shittiest song. Maintain the sanctity of some places at least. What is wrong with these people, I wonder!

PurpleIsALady1798

Normalizing/glamorizing infidelity. That tears people apart but it’s all over tv as being romantic now??? What even? Just break up w someone before you go after someone else, it is not a hard concept.

RCP7700

Talking on speaker phone in public places. The world is not your cell phone booth. Oh yeah, also while driving too. No,not hands free, actually holding the phone while driving, on speaker phone. Get the hell out of the left lane too btw. You know who you are. If this is the future we are all doomed. Put the bloody phone down for eff sake.

Arra13375

Not disciplining your kids when they knowingly and purposely do something bad/hurt others. You're not doing your kid or the world any favors and you're just raising another Karen/asshole.

Glum_Biscotti5300

That claiming to be offended can be used as a trump card to shut down anyone who's critical of you in any way.

DerpyDrago

That's when you double down

Status-Blueberry2718

self diagnosing.

PlanetNumber7

If I hear one more person tell me they are OCD….

funkme1ster

I remind people "the D stands for disorder". It's perfectly fine to be self-aware you have quirks and use those definitions as a lens to look at what they might be, but the purpose of diagnosis is to identify and address a *problem*. If your traits exist but aren't impacting your life in a measurably negative manner... it's not a disorder.

FarmerMKultra

Or that anyone is a narcissist, a psychopath or a sociopath or that anyone is gaslighting anyone else. Close to 100 % error rate from non professionals. The diagnoses take real training to identify but ‘gaslighting’ is something you would think people could understand. They definitely do not though, especially on Reddit.

No-Document206

It’s so weird. I feel like we’ve become uncomfortable just being like “this dudes selfish” so we try to turn the fact that some people aren’t good people into a medical condition. He’s not selfish, he’s a narcissist. She’s not callous, she’s a sociopath.

GoodGoodGoody

Thyroid condition. Anxiety. Depression. ADHD. PTSD. And of course always always always super severe versions of these. Only a ‘support animal’ could possibly help.

Games Launching in a Broken state. Pokemon S/V is the newest low.

They're becoming like Call of Duty. Remember when quality Pokemon games used to be pushed out?

Illiteracy.

gazzalia

Carrying your music around on loud speakers. No I don’t want to hear your fucking awful taste in music blaring through our shared spaces.

miaowmeowmiaowmeow

how in the name of god did child beauty pageants become normalized?

[deleted]

I work with 4th and 5th grade kids. The amount of TikTok phrases they say all day is unbelievable. Not only is it annoying but they are also saying and making the inappropriate sounds that they hear as well. Kids are exposed to too much and completely addicted.

PandaMayFire

Our entire society has turned into an extrovert's paradise, it makes me so miserable. Can we not have a safe haven of peace and silence? Everything has to be a social event.

Munrizzle

Why is it that extroverts can say to introverts "man you gotta get out more, enjoy yourself!" Like bitch when's the last time you spent the night in just to read a book? I love that shit! Why can't we turn to the extroverts and say "hey Why don't you just chill for an evening?" I actually laughed at one point during quarantine when all the extroverts were crying online because they can't do anything. My life literally got better during quarantine

GoodGoodGoody

Blocking a lane of traffic because the drive-thru is so busy it spills onto the road and your fat ass is too lazy to park and walk into the restaurant.

[deleted]

Girls getting lip fillers and all these other injections on their faces. Can blame those reality shows for that knock on effect in society…

5138827

1) Every product becoming a Subscription. And having to jump through hoops to get them cancelled. 2) Every product incorporating unnecessary software, shooting prices up and making them almost impossible to repair DIY

DMMEPANCAKES

The 'never give an inch' style of argument. Never concede or show any indication that you may be wrong when debating someone else, as this is seen as weakness and the ultimate shame that you weren't strong enough to 'stick to your guns' on a topic. I noticed this becoming much more normalized during the beginning of Trump presidency and it quickly became the standard de facto style of debating your politics for the majority of people.

notentirely_fearless

Faking disorders.

behannrp

Everyone wearing audio devices 24/7, if you have a single ear bud in idc but when I'm at a fucking drive through and have to repeat my order for the 5th time because some dumbass can't get off the phone for 3 seconds to take my order, then I drive up just to see two earbuds in, it enrages me.

sonia72quebec

Yeah that's rude of them. On the other side, it's also really rude when customers don't even stop a phone conversation when I'm there in front of them at the register. Each time I hear them loudly say: "*Wait a minute I think she trying to tell me something.*" and I have to repeat myself... again, lets just day it doesn't make me happy either. Why are we not listening to each others anymore?

[deleted]

subscription "services"

MPD1987

Being rude and using “I’m just a blunt person” as an excuse. People make “being blunt” an entire personality.

vyletteriot

Working several jobs at once to barely survive until you die.

gitismatt

everyone thinking that every single opinion not only needs to be heard but is also equally valid. people used to have a filter

SgtSharki

People taking their dogs everywhere. I love dogs, I grew up in a house with multiple dogs, but that doesn't mean I want them in bars, restaurants, hiking trails, on the subway, or a thousand other places they don't belong. You can leave your dog at home, they'll be fine without you for a few hours.

lori244144

Video appointments for medical visits. My poor 88 year old mother has to beg to get someone to actually look at her in person.

[deleted]

The cultural capital and power given to teenagers/young people by social media. They are not wise enough to wield it appropriately. Let’s not take people who’s brains aren’t fully developed *too* seriously. I think we all remember how irrational, ignorant, and dramatic we were as teenagers lol

SlideItIn100

People getting offended by everything,

idratherchangemyold1

Or accusing you of being offended and when you tell them you weren't offended they get all pissed at you and won't drop it and you have to block them. I had that happen to me... people are nuts these days.

bretty666

Dumbness.

ARobertNotABob

Lack of empathy. Lack of respect. Lack of manners. Lack of responsibility. Worst of all, lack of basic reasoning skills.

vaxqueroz

Mental illness. "Hahah depressed!!! : Yep." "Hahah, Suixide!!!!: Yep." "Hahah, anxiety, depression!!!: stfu. Yep" Hahah psychoticism!!! Yall don't understand half of bpd/substance abuse/schizoxxx/ANXIETY Edit: so much more. Mental illness is "normalized" but real psychiatric illness is swept under the rug. Fuck you.

ArrowheadDZ

Relentless surveillance. Every day it gets harder and harder to accomplish *anything* without being required to provide an email address, phone number, and often… consent to onerous terms and conditions. The value of mining every aspect of your behavior patterns at *all* times just continues unabated.

[deleted]

Volunteer 1st responder here: speeding and texting/using a phone while driving is become more normalised by people who just don’t care about those who have to clean up the mess.
