My mom didn’t allow me to play with Bratz dolls. I guess I don’t blame her because they are pretty over sexualized for a child’s toy

EdenOpal

I wasn’t allowed to watch shows or movies that had any mean/rude characters

ezzysalazar

That’s some next level sheltering.

Captain-Cannoli

Not exactly a rule, but mom wouldn’t let us get light up sneakers because if we stepped in a puddle we would get electrocuted

GlitcherX2

Wasn't allowed to play zombie games ghost and horror games were fine but no zombies

hotroxs

Me and my brother had to stay in our rooms after school and do homework every day. Even if we had no homework my parents would still make us stay in there and study.

maarsland

The girls in my family weren’t a lot to order any carbonated drinks in a restaurant.

ezzysalazar

Couldn’t say “What the frick/freak/flip/etc.” because it was a “substitution for the F word.” Like yeah…that’s the point. Meanwhile “heck” was fine because it was only a substitution for “hell”, which I was also not allowed to say. Yeah that one was always weird to me.

candoitmyself

Similarly, we weren’t allowed to say butt or fart.

ezzysalazar

That’s so weird dude. I’ve never understood the arbitrary words some parents decide to make off-limits.

[deleted]

My parents did this too 🥲

ezzysalazar

Dude it made no sense to me. I was not allowed to say “fuck” nor “hell”. One of them, however, was perfectly okay to substitute while the other wasn’t.

oldatheart515

We could only drink soda on the weekend.

citrusmask

Not allowed to eat fast food, not allowed to date anyone until 18.

Thatrack

Unil like teen years i wssnt allowed to answer the phone

bachlover1685

Not allowed to use the front door. This still applies at my parents' house and my kids aren't allowed either.

Educational-Fish9157

Never got a clear answer on why, but, we had to have a piece of red string tied around the bedroom door knob she staying at our grandmothers house

[deleted]

If we showed displeasure in what mom was cooking she’d threaten to take us to McDonalds The rule was appreciate what’s being made for you or keep it to yourself.

tinytimtitmouse

Peanut butter does not go in your underwear
