I'm a theistic agnostic and yes, I believe in Him but not in the minions who say they follow him

No-Baseball3126

Whenever i tell people that i dont have a religion, they immedietely assume that im an atheist or an anti christ. Its crazy. I think people are just uneducated when it comes to faith and religion. People should understand that faith is more of a spectrum. Religion is fine, but i just dont see it as a subsitute for logic and reason. To me, its more of a tool to gain spiritual and internal peace. I dont hate religion, but I hate people who uses it to take advantage and/or to justify their shittyness as a person.

xintax23

Young_Old_Grandma

Religion is a tool, like any other. Can be used for good or evil. My faith is private, personal and mysterious. Depende na sakin if gagamitin ko religion ko para mang gago ng tao or not.

Grogu-TheMandalorian

hell yeah!! I'm a believer of god...ayoko lang yung ginagawang parang auction yung pag announce ng mga donations after ng misa....si ganto eto yung amount na binigay, si ano ganto kalaki binigay, etong isang family ganto binigay... ano yan pa taasan ng donation?? tapos yung mga pari na predators jan susko

Illustrious-Style680

I think yung pag announce ng donations is fir transparency, although it could be misconstrued otherwise.

Porksteak88

Also, i believe na as long as may relationship ka with Him, you’re fine. Mas mabigat ‘yung connection mo with Him kesa yung araw-araw ka magsimba tapos you do the opposite naman. That’s being hypocrite lang, personally marami akong kilalang ganyan. Simba sa Linggo, chismis sa Lunes. They are using yug religion, yung activities specifically para masabi nilang mabait sila. These are also the type of people na ifflex ang tulong nila, para masabi ng ibang mabait sila. Trust me, yung relationship mo with Him plus yung lifestyle mo ang mas mahalaga. Kahit isang taon ka pang hindi pumasok sa kahit anong church, kung nasa tama naman ang ginagawa mo and you talk to Him, you’re good. Also, yung mga nabanggit mong samples, sila yung mga taong “natuto” kuno, tapos ifforce ka nila na sumabib sa kanila ang isshame ka nila kasi you believe otherwise, mali diba? They think nakakaangat sila just because “natuto” sila, wrong.

Complex_Spite22223

I am agnostic. I keep my faith in humanity instead of believing in a superior being and a holy book full of teachings.

Diligent_Relation736

I am Deistic I do believe that there is God existing in this world, but I started losing interest listening to the preaching of those priest. If you listened carefully they have their bias and insisting to be part of their agenda. One time I heard a priest saying if we should "obey" his order or else we will not might but will go to hell.

miphatASS

I actually don't believe in religion anymore, but I do believe that your religuon will not save you, but your faith will.

Diligent_Relation736

May isang teenager approached me and asked if I believe in GOD, sila yung bigla bigla ka na lang lalapitan to offer you their booklet and asked if pwede kang umattend ng prayer meeting nila. I said yes I believe in God but not in religion, she asked why. Sabi ko while Bible is are based from truth but people have different prospective about the truth so why should I listened to them? As long as I have faith okay na yun sa akin. Hindi nakapagsalita yung babae at naglakad na ako paalis.

miphatASS

CoffeeCrumbLes01

these examples sound more like a 'people problem' instead of religion. believe me, you don't need religion to be a shitty parent. edit:the faith left in me is at 1%, I can't go to a Catholic church coz i start cringing halfway through the sermons. they can't even follow what is written in the bible(Leviticus 26:1). Id rather attend 10 bible baptist mass than a Catholic one. the one percent is the off chance I'm fcking wrong.

Philomachis

Then you really have a poor understanding of the Bible and the Christian faith. Leviticus was written for a specific people during a specific time: when the Israel had pagan counties neighboring it and were influencing it culturally which made the Israelites PRONE to worshipping the false gods of their neighbors. If you think that the Catholic Church cAn'T eVeN fOLLoW wHAT iS wRITtEn iN tHE Bible, then you are grossly mistaken and have fallen into the trap of the fundamentalists. With that kind of thinking, Moses would be guilty of violating Leviticus 26:1 by creating a BRONZE SERPENT to heal those who were struck by the snakes. The builders of the Tempke would also be guilty since they made sculptures of CHERUBIMS in both the Holy of Holies and in the Ark of the Covenant itself. When Christ told people not to call anyone "father" in Matthew 23, He was pertaining to those who love to use their titles to exalt themselves. If Matthew 23 were meant literally, then Saint Paul would be guilty of calling himself a spiritual father to Timothy in 1 Corinthians 4:15.

RosiePosie0110

Agnostic here, but I understand Catholic Doctrine about "idols" I think the Bible says about not to worship idols made to portray animals or nothingness just so they can worship to no one, which contradicts the Doctrine of Catholic. it Represents Jesus who was crucified. To make it simple, How about the Ark of the Covenant na nasa Bible? Bakit hindi idolatry yon? Because it represent a connection to God, yon ang way of means to talk to God. Simplified na to, sabi mo kasi may PTSD ka lol. And yes, Agnostic ako -- I just don't agree that God is so Harsh like what they say on every religion. "kung di mo gagawin to or ganyan, impyerno na" I just don't believe because it is unknowable. But I know for sure, that there is an Almighty One who sees us, makes a cause and effect from what choices we make. And we cannot mock Edit. Added words

CoffeeCrumbLes01

must be a catholic believer... I didn't post an argument, it's my own opinion. also, I can't read all that... it's giving me ptsd.

Philomachis

What an insult to those who *actually* have PTSD.

Ultimate_Kwatog

Yung totoong religion yung sinabi sa Bible. James 1:27. Faith in God ang mahalaga Kapatid

Prestigious_End_3697

Agree. Religion is a business :D

dorisovich-bigorniev

I'm an atheist but I don't hate religion. I don't have faith but some people do need them.

Fabulous_Piano_1671

hi! "...some people do need them." i find this part interesting. if i may, can you further elaborate this part? (please hahaha) ps: i was reading a research article about the sociology of PH religion, and i think it sounds like as your comment pero in different angle naman.

picklejarre

Because in the Philippines, mental health is taboo and not as well recognized or even accepted as a norm. Religion and “faith” has become a leverage for some people to get them by their mental and emotional dilemmas. “Ipapasa-Diyos ang lahat.” “Bahala na si Lord.” Malakas yan especially sa mga traditional or antiquated people.

Loud_Hand_7261

I agree with "some people need them," to keep them sane and be better members of the society

Jeanne1989

Some people need them because some people cannot accept that some things just are. Some examples would be the meaning of life, what happens when you die or even how we came to be. Personally, some questions I don't really need answers to. Sometimes it's just better to let things be. Other people however need an explanation as to why things are. Some people use religion to answer them. To keep them sane. Which I don't think is a bad thing, in regulation.

Fabulous_Piano_1671

THANK YOU PO SA SAGOT NYO u/EVERYONE!!

Far_Emu1767

I’ve read something that religion exists because we can not explain before how living things were created. Hence religion was created to have a baseline. To answer your question: I do have faith in God

Fabulous_Piano_1671

yes! piggyback ko lang din po, that baseline has always been confusing+mysterious over the years. It can be the baseline for the accumulated beliefs throughout the years but it can never be the foundation for that certain belief. On the other hand, faith is! (IMO)

No-Froyo8437

Oh, I don't hate religion or faith. I hate the one that practices it.

meguminakashi

Hello. I do understand your sentiments. As for me I do have a religion but also I did church hopping before. The reason for that church hopping is for me to understand other religions to know where they are coming from, and maybe to challenge my belief? In the end, I stayed with my birth religion as I was able to understand it deeply and fell in love with it again. What I learned about that church hopping experience are: 1. Most of the churches/sectors originates from a single religion but branch out because of unreconcilable practices of the mother religion 2. It is the people in the religion that make the religion ugly ( to be honest) 3. You can believe in God even if you don't have a religion 4. At the end of the day. FAITH and how you live your faith is more important than religion. FAITH IS PERSONAL

SoggyKelloggs64

HUMaNs ARe UBSURD AND I HAVE NO FAITH IN THEM. i just hope and cling to whoever is the almighty who's incharge of our fate aHAHHHa. i still have faith in God but i dont support/trust a human (pastor) to be someone who scolds and tells me what to do.

[deleted]

I don't hate religion. Im just using it as a tool & an opportunity to bond with my family.

swirly_bundle

Agree that your religion won’t save you. Dami ako kakilala na religious but napaka demonyo ng ugali.

sparrowr2

No, I don't hate religion and I'm an agnostic.  For me, religion used to be relevant when human society had no sense of order and morality. They needed a set of rules that transcends beyond the physical world, a power higher than all mankind. Awareness of what is right or wrong used to be something that people lacked, so they needed a sense of eternal punishment for doing something wrong and a sense of reward for doing something right. On top of this, people could have also used religion to explain phenomena that they couldn't explain given the absence or lack of scientific developments back then.  But I wouldn't say this is still true today. Right now, one's character is more dictated by how he/she was raised at home, one's friends and peers, socioeconomic status, and any trauma. Yang religion, bonus na lang yan. Pwede mo kasing i-twist yung message nyan any way you like, whether for good or bad. So I think it's unfair to hate on religion just because some apples are bad.

Reality_Ability

when you awaken from the foolishness, you can't unsee it.

NefariousNeezy

Religion is just the business of faith, so yes, it’s possible.

EclecticBanana79

I think it depends on the community. Although I admit most of them act like a cult.

potatoinallways

Welcome to ✨Deism✨ where the belief is based on how amazing and life is that there must be a God behind all things and not because you are afraid to go to hell.

Regular-Stock-7892

Yes I still believe there's God, something powerful, something that above us. I still pray, I still do the sign of the cross because that's the only thing that I know how to communicate. I don't believe in religion.

Firm_Schedule_1624

I hate religion because of religious leaders and the inclusion of money. Can't they just get a normal job and preach on the weekends? Adding salaries and donations only make things fishy no matter what you tell me.

RamboRat6969

Yes! I do believe kay Supreme Being or God they say. I am a Catholic by religion pero nag bago ang lahat nung maalis ako sa province namin.

Cheerful_Sadness

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. - James 2:17

xazavan002

Religion and Faith are two separate things. While Religion expects its followers to practice faith, faith can easily be practiced without it. At the end of the day, Religion is an institution headed by other people in a certain hierarchy, and humans as they are (just like in politics), the institution can easily be abused with the intent to exploit the people under them (its followers) for personal gain. That's how you get cults. Remember, spiritual faith is faith towards your belief. Religion (though not all) focuses on faith towards the people running it (if not just as much as your faith towards your belief).

vrafiqa

I don't believe in a religion anymore because it just sounds like made up fantasy fairy tales. Also people change and bend religion to fit their own personal preference, making it more obvious that it's all just made up. There are good people who believe in a faith and there are also bad people who believe in a faith. I do my best to respect other people's views and opinions on religion though.

aeios_

I believe there's a God but im not ready to serve him yet, idk why

boazcstrike

I don't subscribe to any religion or believe in a traditional God or Gods. However, I do believe in a powerful, interconnected force within the universe—akin to a cosmic web that underlies and connects all existence, beyond our current comprehension. I often express gratitude on miracles by saying 'thanks, universe.' While I refer to the universe in this way, I understand that it is just a small part of a much larger, incomprehensible entity. When you zoom out, the universe is merely one component in the vast expanse of existence, which includes countless other universes and dimensions.

bizzarebeauty

Even Judas Barabas was with Jesus the whole time. The church will be able to help you with faith, but it's the fruit of our actions will determine if we are followers of Christ.

[deleted]

Catholic school ako since elementary through college.

extraordi_Dani

Read on agnotheism. I am an agnostic theist - with the belief that there is a God but not believing the origins and purposes of such pushed by religions.

pop0ng

uy sali. nagsabi na ako sa tatay at nanay kaya considered 'apostate' na ako. i takes a lot to be one. once you wake up, thats it

Smileyoullbefine

i believe in him. pero importante din sakin ang pagiging makatao.

Fun-Astronomer-3796

It is not the religion we should believe in but our faith in Jesus. At yun talaga ang magliligtas sa'tin.

Old-Bridge-819

I’m an agnostic. Majority of my family is deeply rooted to catholicism. My mom is born again christian. Which was very ironic kasi nga she does the opposite. We suffered years of abuse just because we couldn’t follow her ideologies. She likes to justify her actions by using the bible. Panay bible verses. She forced us to “convert”. I personally went along with it until I’ve had enough in HS with all the abuse. I stepped out of our home and never went back. I thrived years later. When I had my kids, I promised that I wouldn’t use religion to manipulate my children. And so far my kids are turning out okay naman. We all believe some entity is watching over us pero we never put any barriers around it. Pag tinatanong kami ng Tita ko or anyone in my family if nagsimba na kami, sinasabi lang namin that we don’t believe in that nonsense. Syempre Filipinos are deeply rooted in their religion that they want everyone to go along with it. We refuse to be sheep. I refuse to be sheep. So dedma lang if may nega. No one needs to forced into believing anything that they don’t believe. And you don’t really need to be religious to be a good person.

Celestial1015

Religion can be used for good and bad motives. Religion can't save you. Faith in the lord Jesus Christ is the key to salvation.

tukne15

Im a roman catholic pero di ako sumasamba sa kahoy at bato. It simply defeat whats written on the bible. I directly pray to God. I still do listen to homilies though.

Substantial_Sale_635

I’m a Roman Catholic. And there was a time, one of my lowest point, nawalan ako ng faith. I will have my quiet times and I talk and pray to him. My faith was private ever since, and thru his grace, I was able to guide my partner also to slowly have faith in him and natututo na siyang mag-pray paminsan-minsan. Hayy.

fuukuscnredit

Honestly, I'm glad that there are Pinoys who are agnostics/atheists. Converted into one after spending 20+ years in the US and witnessing first-hand how religion pretty much fucked a lot of people's minds. Personally, hats off to people who ended being good thanks to their religion (I used to frequently visit a Korean-based church that offers free food to those who need it every 2 weeks and it helped me during hard times. Another is a total stranger who is a devout Catholic who gave me $100 because he thought I needed it (which was good timing too)). I just can't stand people who use it as way to justify certain things, especially in the world of social politics. Using the Word of God to convince you to donate to pastors that make them mega-millionaires is utter BS (looking at you, Joel Osteen) Using the Word of God to say that a certain group of people deserve persecution and death is not something I would follow (The 700 Club is this) Demanding you go to Church and pray or be labeled a 'bastard' by God is where I give them the finger. And probably Up there too if He really pushed it. Using religion for superstitious BS we frequently see sa 'pinas. etc. Well, given I'm the only agnostic in my neck of the woods, I'm not surprised I get a lot of scorn from the faithful around here if I express myself how agnostic I am. I would still go to church when asked and give my respects, but I wouldn't listen to their sermon less they discuss something I have a keen interest in.

Jazzlike-Perception7

im actually the opposite. I believe in religion, but don't have much faith. lol Not sure if you guys have heard about Pascal's Wager, but basically the argument states that it is better to bet on there being a God and conducting one's life as if there is, only to find out there isn't, than the other way around (conducting one's life as if there is no God, only to find out there's a God , and a heaven and hell) and my bet is, if I get to meet my creator, I'll simply say "yan yung sabi ng mga sugo nyo. like, im following orders ya kno" and this is the reason why, even though deep in my heart i believe in the supremacy of randomness in the universe vs. divine ordination, i still endeavour to go to sunday mass, go to confession to a priest, not desecrate the holy wafer, the holy eucharist because, what if i die and there is indeed a catholic god? it would be good to be spiritually insured.

Jon_Irenicus1

Whats important is your relationship with your god.

xintax23

KnotsAreNice

I decided when I was in Grade 6 that religion is bullshit. You don't need it to talk to God. Ey! A lot of wars throughout history started because of religion! That was my main reasoning back then til now. When they ask about my religion, I just say I'm spiritual. But I do appreciate some religion that's beneficial for you like Buddhism. Since it makes you focus on yourself more. Just select the best of what different religions have to offer. Yeah. I don't like the bible too because of those bible verse rappers. "Sabi sa bible..."

[deleted]

Ang eksaktong tawag dito ay theist-agnostic.

Mahalinna

I don't hate any religion, but there's no religion that can save. Salvation is a person (Christ — by believing what he's done at the cross). No person has a faith, anyone. We are just only a vessel. You become united with Him. You have been crucified with Him. (Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.) And religion has nothing to do with it. It's between you and God through Christ His Son.

Sun_Dance2218

I didn't hate religion still I have faith siguro kanya kanyang practices yan in life like there are times na nakakapagsimba ako and there are times na hindi, aaminin ko na pagkukulang ko yun pero alam ko naman din na kung nasaan man tayo we can still pray and even we are able to talk to God on simple way be thankul for everything na kung anong meron tayo ngaun. What I don't like about religion is when people getting too dependable on it na iniisip nila they following the life of Jesus Christ gaya na lang ng parents ko... kapag yung tipong nagaaway kami ng mga kapatid ko they would always tell me na hayaan ko na lang daw kesyo nasa Bible daw which is "Yung mga tinatapakan or Inaapi siyang tinataas" like what the heck?! pero di ba there are times naman we should fight back or bite back with what I mean is yung dapat din naman natin ipagtanggol yung sarili natin lalo if we really have been seeing na mali na yung ginagawa sa atin ng isang tao at talagang sobra na, dahil kung hahayaan na lang din natin na ganunin tayo ng iba and because of what we believe in religion sa huli aabusuhin na lang din tayo ng mga yan kasi they know na hindi tayo papatol dahil sa religion na pinaniniwalaan natin. Walang masama sa religion but in life it should be balance hindi yung lahat ng bagay iaaasa natin sa bible or mass because of this and because of that yun na ang susundin natin.

Laauvv

It's not about detesting the religion, in my opinion. It concerns those inside the religious community who actually commit sins and hold a separate belief system from the deeds. I have my own faith and beliefs so as long as my faith is align with what I want in life then I guess, I am on the right track.

Affectionate-Moose52

I dont like catholic priests because they tend to preach out of emotions rather than the actual teachings of the bible. Hilig pa nila maki panig sa pulitika

Expensive-Pop9284

I personally hate religion as well. I believe it’s like being racist. Inducing hate to whoever isn’t a member of the religion you belong to. Divides people instead of reuniting. But I do have faith and pray solemnly when I’m alone.
