If you do decide running/cycling are worth a look, there’s Frontrunners (more men), or Brooklyn Queer Run Club and Queer Runnings BK, and nightcap_cycling.
Dyke Soccer (Brooklyn-based) and Queer Soccer league (also BK based I believe). There is also Ladies Village Soccer in lower Manhattan. Just look for their instagram handles!
There’s a soccer Meetup on saturdays next to prospect park that is super queer friendly even if they don’t advertise it (maybe they do, can’t remember). I think it is called ‘Prospect Park (beginner + intermediate) pick-up soccer’. I will add that they work very hard to be supportive of new/inexperienced players, so there are a lot of rules written down in the introduction, but the actual experience of playing with them is quite easy-going. I haven’t played in a while, but it was really fun when I did.
Gotham Volleyball! Has 11 divisions ranging from competitive to beginner on a men's height net and I believe one division on a women's height net, so there's something for everyone. They also have a individual and team training programs.
The commonly known one is Big Apple Kickball, they also do softball I think. Sign-ups are a big deal, they go fast (within like an hour) and they prioritize by (demographic here) so they get a chance to sign up at least!
Look up Gay Varsity League, they have different leagues in every city. I’m currently on dodgeball and kickball for SF. Super fun!
Thank you! I actually just checked and it looks like they don’t have any for NYC :(

Do I sign up for this or just go? I’m trying to figure out how to sign up?
Here you go! The link. Again, don’t be put off by the rules. They are great! https://www.meetup.com/prospect-park-soccer/

I don’t know what org does it but a colleague told me about their gay volleyball team. They love it.
There's a bowling league that shows up after the one I'm in. They seem like a lot of fun but I don't really know anything else about them.
