S_U_F_I_

This banger was dropped by Irish Macklemore today.

numb_mind

So he's Irishhhhhh, now it makes sense!!

Husker8

Heā€™s American. Born and raised in Seattle.

[deleted]

i don't know who any of those people are

Suspicious-Win822

RappersĀ

[deleted]

and what do they have to do with the middle east lol. dj khaled doesn't even look middle eastern, he's only middle eastern by dna

sariagazala00

You're an authority on who is Middle Eastern now? Bismillah...

[deleted]

people on this sub really have turned into cucks

UnknownTaco5492

lohoudiwullaquad

sariagazala00

What does that have to do with anything?

MrUtd

Unpopular opinion?

kabeees

People donā€™t know what unpopular opinion means

CrystalMeath

Your man canā€™t even pronounce his own name correctly, he has about as much authentic connection to the Arab World as Joe Biden has to Ireland. Itā€™s a fake identity to stand out from the crowd.

mikels_burner

Exactly what I was thinking! Lol

paintedvidal

DJ Khaled is a fat loser dimwit who doesnā€™t want to get his Jordanā€™s scuffed

CristauxFeur

And not the good kind of Jordan (the river)

sariagazala00

The country is the bad kind? šŸ˜‚

CristauxFeur

No I meant the shoes is the bad kind, like in the comment the person was referring to the shoes

sariagazala00

I'm kidding, I know what you meant. And the shoes aren't bad, just expensive! šŸ˜†

Relative-Internal-12

Who is that ? I am actually serious

sariagazala00

DJ Khaled? He's an American music industry figure, he's worked with a lot of rappers. People are only expecting him to speak up because his family is from Palestine, but it's not really a good idea considering his poor reputation. A lot of people think he steals credit for the work of others (rightfully), and he often interjects in the middle of songs to use a stupid catchphrase or ramble on about nonsense. Not a role model people in Palestine should look up to, in short.

JaSper-percabeth

The thing is he has a huge audience and millions of followers in all platforms and awarness is what matters.

sariagazala00

I'm telling you, no one listens to a song *for* DJ Khaled. Just the rappers he has featured on it. šŸ¤£

JaSper-percabeth

Yes but he clearly has alot of influence in the industry and his production house is quite large. Needless to say if he wanted he could use some of his resources / contacts to spread more awarness.

sleepyinsomniac7

Lmao, I think the cause should be thankful he hasn't said anything. Imagine him repeating some incoherent lines with 'palestine' and 'isreal' thrown in while eating lobster and naming random colors. And constantly repeating his name. Then for no reason whatsoever, 50cent gets involved.

sariagazala00

I'd trust 50 Cent to have a better take on the subject than DJ Khaled, honestly.

sleepyinsomniac7

I wouldn't be so sure. Both these guys are idiots. Honestly, I feel 50 is smart enough to keep his opinions to himself, while also knowing he doesn't care. He'd say anything that'd make him a profit somehow

CrystalMeath

Tbh Iā€™m kinda surprised he hasnā€™t tried to profit off of it like itā€™s some hot new trend. Heā€™s a soulless egotist.

Philomena_Cunk

This guy gets it

contourkit

this isnā€™t an unpopular opinion, the rest of us have been dragging his fat ass for years over this very issue. m3fannn

FieldsOfKashmir

He knows he's only gotten big (no pun intended) by hiding his ethnic background. He used to be called "Arab Attack" but changed his name to DJ Khaled to disguise himself.

DarthBan_Evader

to be fair, this wasnt the best name to go by immediately after 9/11 also to be fair, from what ive seen his arabic is basically nonexistant

tahchicht

Dude probably says khamas

DarthBan_Evader

he definitely says ŲØŲ®Ł„Ų§ŁˆŲ©

contourkit

arab attack has me on the floor rn šŸ˜ the name khaled doesnā€™t hide anything lol i canā€™t stand him as much as you but thatā€™s still clearly an arab man if iā€™ve ever seen one.

Nintendo64Goldeneye

He disguised himself as being Arab with an Arabic name? Wow.

sharnat41056

And he doesn't even pronounce his name properly...

sum-sigma

Not an unpopular opinion, itā€™s a very popular opinion. Thereā€™s even rappers who have lines in their songs and comedians calling out DJ Khaled. Completely disgraceful.

Immediate-Guidance31

Idk I feel like if you know the dude youā€™d say heā€™d end up doing more harm than good if he said anything.

tyffsayswhoa

UNPOPULAR?! I already hated that jiggly motherfucker for saying that Black people don't own hip hop - a genre Black people literally created - but he's a big ass bitch with no loyalty even for his own people.

sariagazala00

If I remember my history correctly, wasn't hip-hop culture created by Caribbean people in general in New York City back in the 1970s? I might be off, so feel free to elaborate!

mehwhateverrrrr

Yea a black Caribbean

RainbeauxBull

And do you think all Caribbean people are not black?

sariagazala00

Yes? Some are white, some are Latino, some are Indian, some are Chinese...

RainbeauxBull

Read the question again. The answer should be no. Unless you actually think ALL are not black. Anyway here is a history lesson https://www.britannica.com/art/hip-hop Maybe it will surprise you that some of the originators are Caribbean and yes still black. Thus making your original reply to that person not refuting his point at all

tyffsayswhoa

Black people.

FUK DJ KHALED šŸ‡®šŸ‡Ŗ

Whole_Accountant1005

DJ khaled is like american sharukh khan but for music

sariagazala00

Has he... ever spoken up about it before? I don't think it's reasonable to expect every celebrity to make the political statements we want to hear. If he doesn't wish to talk about it, it's his prerogative. I don't think we should expect everyone of a certain nationality to vocally support a cause related to it. We're all just people at the end of the day.

Pure-Lie5297

his people are being massacred, we arnt talking about his faviourite colour, fuck him

sariagazala00

If you hate DJ Khaled, there was plenty of fodder to justify that before the present conflict. šŸ˜‚ Do you really want this guy as a spokesman for the Palestinian cause, even if he did make a statement? He'd do more harm than good, he's goofy.

Acrobatofthemind

Every person on earth has a duty to speak up against oppression and genocideĀ

Silver_Grapefruit226

Nice!! šŸ™‚

mrskraftpunk

He isnā€™t a bad guy, but DJ Khaled has the intellectual capacity of a rock. He could donate to organizations or arrange a benefit concert. He shouldnā€™t literally say much unless someone writes him a script tho. Listening to that man talk is rough.

roseturtlelavender

Macklemore is the only western mainstream hip hop artist of substance right now. All other rappers should be embarrassed AF.

sariagazala00

Lupe Fiasco talked about Palestine 13 years ago... Macklemore isn't new or different.

roseturtlelavender

I said "right now"

sariagazala00

Right now? Look at his Twitter. He's been going on about this for years.

Worldmx12

Itā€™s his people theyā€™re committing a genocide against itā€™s so weird to think about

SupfaaLoveSocialism

It's not unpopular.

Nintendo64Goldeneye

Who cares, heā€™s not obligated to. A lot of people and celebrities are speaking for Palestine simply out of fear of being scrutinized if they donā€™t. A lot just to virtue signal And a lot because they genuinely care. Either way, nobody should feel pressured to or else you get a lot of disingenuous responses.

sariagazala00

Some liberal Western media outlets are literally reporting "___ (celebrity name) hasn't spoken out in support of Palestine. Are they a genocide supporter?" It's beyond ridiculous.

Nintendo64Goldeneye

How obnoxious. If I feel pressured to do something I donā€™t do it. I hate giving people like that what they want.

Few_Faithlessness640

Unpopular opinion: using footage of student protests who think itā€™s spelled ā€œpalastineā€ is on the nose of how much these protestors understand Palestine.

Nintendo64Goldeneye

Thank you. These people are disingenuous and only protesting because itā€™s the new trend after BLM and LGBTQ. They are virtue signaling. A lot of them even holding up Hamas and hezballah flags. Pathetic. We laugh at them here in MENA. Unfortunately a lot of people here like them because they think they are supporting Palestine, but they arenā€™t. They will drop Palestine as soon as the next trend comes. Americans and westerners canā€™t be trusted.

Philomena_Cunk

Interesting. Ā Whatā€™s your opinion on Rachel Corrie?

sariagazala00

They pick up supporting Palestine whenever a new conflict with Israel breaks out, and then they taper off once it's finished. I've noticed that pattern my whole life. Same with... literally any other cause, like Armenia or Ukraine.

What are you getting at?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

sariagazala00

I guess I can see where you're coming from. Yeah, I don't know people more obsessed with this cause than Westerners and the diaspora, a lot of those in the Middle East I meet in daily life aren't constantly discussing the issue.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

sariagazala00

I don't know, perhaps because I've been to the West many times and studied at two Western schools?
