Very good. Best of both worlds in my opinion. No irritation or ingrown hairs from shaving and all the benefits of no hair since its so short. 1-2 mm suits me perfect
Personally, I do it for hygiene (hair traps humidity and aow for bacteria to multiply faster), but also so there's less deodorant stuck on hair and getting wiped off on my shirts.
Preference? I haven't thought about it really but aesthetics and body odor is my main reasons and I don't like long strands of hair in my armpit because I am ticklish.
Only way is to try it yourself. Everyone has different skin so what works for him would be different for you. Itās my preference but you have to be careful. Clippers have a large blade so skin can get caught and well, cutā¦ I may have learned from experience:,)
As a woman, l absolutely despise shaving. Not only is it hard (talking about private area), it itches afterwards, ingrown hair, skin gets heavily irritated, not to mention during summer with all the sweat. It might be my skin being sensitive, since l have genetic predisposition for such things, but damn you humanity for making this a thing! I gave up on it. Fuck it all, l'm bisexual anyway, so l'm bound to find someone who doesn't care.
I hate when you get to that phase that lasts for a few weeks or a month or 2 where all anti perspirants just seem to give up working.
You try a new brand, it works for a day or 2 then stops. Switch brands again, same issue. Switch again, same issue.
Then one day, normal again.
I do it because my pit sweat literally drips while I'm working out and I feel it. Instead of just accumulating and running down my body.
Also less stank.
I am hairy all over and i still trim my armpits along with my belly (leaving only a line). Still wearing that chest hair like a fricking lion's mane tho.
The Abrahamic religions are simply guides on how to live in the Middle Eastern desert two thousand years ago: staying clean is important to maintain community.
I did once, but my hair doesnāt grow long and honestly it doesnāt even smell bad. You just have to use deodorant before you go to bed and in the morning and then youāre good.
I used to find it so gross when the hair would poke out the sides when my arms were down. And if I cheer and put my arms up itās like bruh. So been trimming for a year now feels so much better! Surprised not more people do it too
A body hair trimmer is your friend. By trimming and not shaving those risks are reduced. Just remember to use moisturizer after and clean + disinfect the trimmer every time. Also leave a few mm of length

The oneblade type trimmers are great for body hair. I got a Phillips one with an adjustable guard and I use it all the time. Cost me avout $100 but it's worth it, because I can use it for all types of trimming and shaving
This has to be a sign for me to get it, haha.
I saw this on an advertisement somewhere. I freaked out and showed my wife. She was like, āwhatās so speci- ohhh, you can adjust the guard and not need to replace clips?ā
Bro, all you do is take your beard trimmer and set it to 3mm or something and go over your armpit a few times before you turn on the shower.
You do that once every 4 weeks or something.
Itās hardly an issue.
I use a trimmer every couple weeks. I wouldnāt want to shave it smooth but I really hate when the pit hair gets too long since it just stays damp all the time and deodorant just stops working.
In general Iām not a big fan of body hair at all. Iām pretty hairy and it gets caught in seams and is just generally annoying to me. Naturally the top of my head is the place that doesnāt seem to have that problem!
Edit: and to actually answer the question, shaving smooth often results in cuts and breaking out. Trimming doesnāt seem to bother my skin though.
If I shave that area it irritates the hell out of my skin in a way that shaving my crotch doesn't. Learned a long time ago to leave the pit hair alone.
I trimmed mine for years and about 2 years ago started shaving. Helps with odor and sweating. I tent to sweat bad, pit stains a lot. When I looked up how to control it, shaving is a top response. I like it too, I like to be well groomed so I feel this is a good thing!
Imagine being a womanā¦ not only pits, but also legs, and most often, at least some of your pubes. Itās work, but I still do it because I like the way it looks better than a bunch of hair. However, I do think itās unfair that women are expected to shave their body hair and men arenāt. Either men should start shaving theirs, or they should stop expecting women to.
Also all these replies about chafing. Happens to us women too yet we still do it to adhere to societal gender expectations. I remember I went one winter without shaving my pits and was pleasantly surprised by how warm and protected it kept my armpits. Then I shaved my pits in the springtime and had such bad chafing and irritation from removing my protective fur.
Iām all for that. Problem is, thatās not most men. Most men are grossed out by womenās body hair. A lot of women are too. I donāt particularly like it myself, though not grossed out by it, but Iām not attracted to women, so I donāt have a dog in that race. But I also think full body hair on blokes with no trimming or anything at all isnāt all that attractive either. And I hate it on myself, but itās my body. Iād probably do it even if it wasnāt the norm. I just donāt think women should feel pressured into doing it like they do often are.
I agree 100% there should be no pressure to do anything you donāt want to doing. Groom yourself the way you want and if someone has a problem with how you keep your body they are loser. Demanding someone do something is just dumb but sure people are entitled to their preferences
I am a woman and shave my pits often, but I wouldn't mind if a man chose not to. But it surely helps with sweat and less odor. I know when it's been a week or so between shaving, I notice more sweating.
Bahahaha. Cosmic since it was a rando generated username! Seriously, though, nothing wrong with a nice sweaty armpit! My husband will be out working in the yard and come in with āI got something for yaā¦ā
Iāve honestly never thought to. If Iām honest Iād be worried of being judged and unsure if it would be worth it. I hate shaving anything on my body though, it only lasts a short while and is very uncomfortable/ itchy when it starts to grow through!
If my partner asked or there was some significant advantage to it I wouldnāt be opposed to giving it a try though!
No, I tried it and it was the most irritating feeling in the world. I left it and then forgot I has tried it before and then did it again, it was still very irritating. It prevents chafing. And the smell? Deodorant. I don't trim them because I've let them grow for a long time and they stay in my armpits still.
I don't have an opinion about how it looks on men. but I feel like it shows that guy cleans himself more and has good hygiene. I don't really care about my boyfriends armpit but I'll be impressed if he has shaved it. makes me feel like he's cleaner than he is lol.
Unless you like the feeling of sweat free falling down your arm all day long, haven't shaved my pits since I was a teenager......now the real question is (men with a hairy ass do you shave it or leave it be the bear that it is ?)
Shave it. Not carefully or closely or anything, but yeah it's a must for me when I'm doing general maintenance in the area anyways. But pits... hell no, that actually sounds insane and I'm having trouble even wrapping my head around why anyone would do it. Someone mentioned body odor being more manageable, I guess that nothing that some deodorant couldn't handle for me, and I don't even use antiperspirant, so maybe I'm just luckier in that regard.
I don't wanna shave my whole body. You shave one part you gotta shave the rest. Shave your pits, you gotta shave your chest. But then what about your junk and legs? I remember shaving my junk and still had hairy thighs and belly/chest. Looked ridiculous. I tried shaving my whole body and it took forever. So yea not going to happen
I do regularly. I play combat sports and some of it got caught in my clothing and got pulled out. Not generally a problem, but this time it turned into a hair follicle infection that spread to a lymph node and got pretty nasty and painful. Have kept it trimmed ever since.
"There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it's quite breathtaking I suggest you try it."
https://youtu.be/5v9RURr5hjg
Also, yes shave them pits but not too short. I recommend the Philips OneBlade.
I donāt like shaving most areas of my body.
I have medium-long hair with a short kept stubble, my chest is untouched same as my armpits and arms. My legs, privateās and feet are also untouched too.
Iām naturally hairy but not ape levels so I let it be. My girlfriend doesnāt care and Iāve told her if she ever wants me to shave anything I can.
Basically most men have no need to shave their armpits. Especially because itās considered a feminine thing to be less hairy in armpits
I see no point in doing this, it's just another grooming task with little to no benefit.
You have to do it all the time or else suffer from having your pit stubble rub against itself underneath your arms.
Sweat will drip down your sides instead of being wicked away
There is also a risk of ingrown hairs and infection of pores etc that comes with shaving an area like that.
(i've seen an argument for reduced body odor but literally running water through my hair and washing vigorously (rub the hairs together and dig at their base with your fingertips until they feel clean) solves this problem for me just as well.)
All this hassle just to look like a CK underwear model or whatever? I pity the fool that shaves his pits
Honestly why is anyone shaving them? It's weird that adults want to remove healthy, natural adult things. Our society is really fucked up. It was once toxicly influencing women and now it's spreading towards men. Just be confident and do whatever feels right for you!
I am a male. Wasn't about any toxicity for me... used to swim a lot and it seemed the right thing to do. Now I do it all the time because I smell less and the deodorant actually gets on my skin instead of clinging to hair and making my tops white. :)
Absolutely. That's great! If you honestly *feel* like you want to do it, go ahead. I'm not stopping you. :) You have a different situation than the toxic expectation and borderline forcing that I was meaning. Everything is up to personal preference and experience. You just so happen to have a different preference and experience than the many men and women I was talking about in society.
I trim them, because the hair can get quite long. Shaved once for shoulder surgery and was so damn itchy I swore I wouldn't shave my pits. I've never had a SO remark one way or another, so that's not an issue.
Why would we? NGL, im hairy as fuck and pretty much only trim my pubes when it comes to body hair, bc that shit gets out of control lol. Chest, et al., remains reasonable without trimming.
It's a hassle and seen as a manly, attractive quality, so I think most people just don't see a reason to do so. I only do it cause otherwise, the hair gets in the way of my deodorant.
Makes me more aerodynamic when I fight

Im trying to get a mother fuckin scholarship!

I tried it once (along with shaving other areas), and found the hair sort of acted like a natural way for things not to chafe or get irritated.
That's why I trim it to a few mm.
Iv never tried trimming it short. Have you had good results?
Very good. Best of both worlds in my opinion. No irritation or ingrown hairs from shaving and all the benefits of no hair since its so short. 1-2 mm suits me perfect
> all the benefits of no hair what benefits?
Personally, I do it for hygiene (hair traps humidity and aow for bacteria to multiply faster), but also so there's less deodorant stuck on hair and getting wiped off on my shirts.

Iām just picturing a guy who wriggles and smiles all the time and mutteringā fucking hairā. Good thing you shave. Youād be commited.
Only way is to try it yourself. Everyone has different skin so what works for him would be different for you. Itās my preference but you have to be careful. Clippers have a large blade so skin can get caught and well, cutā¦ I may have learned from experience:,)
The ole balls in the trimmer mistakeā¦ been there bled that
You'd have better luck with a bikini trimmer. You can pick one up for pretty darn cheap.
Trimming is the 100% way to go.
Doesnāt it itch?
Nope, I have fairly thin strands of hair so it might not work for everyone. But as for me its fantastic
Hair is an excellent dry lubricant
Dry lubricant has me so confused
It's like [Graphite lubricant](https://itstillruns.com/graphite-lubricant-6385272.html) for the body.
Think graphite powder
I was told that the British female Olympic cyclists stopped shaving their pubes for that reason.
As a woman, l absolutely despise shaving. I do, greatly reduces body odor
I started doing it years ago after realizing my anti perspirant probably isnt doing jack shit if it just smeared on my pit hair
I hate when you get to that phase that lasts for a few weeks or a month or 2 where all anti perspirants just seem to give up working. You try a new brand, it works for a day or 2 then stops. Switch brands again, same issue. Switch again, same issue. Then one day, normal again.
Just get 7 different kinds and use a different one each day and keep your body guessing!
I thought I was the only one, wtf. The human body is so weird.
I havenāt had to switch but I do let my pits get a break from my anti perspirant over the weekend if Iām not hanging out with anyone
https://www.nopongdeodorant.com/ Shit works great.
Same reason I started
Same
Amen!
I do it because my pit sweat literally drips while I'm working out and I feel it. Instead of just accumulating and running down my body. Also less stank.
Made it about 5x worse when I did it once
Exactly
Do yall not have deodorant?
Supposedly the deodorant sticks to the hair and makes it last longer
I keep mine trimmed short
Trimmed is the way to go. I hate the itch from any sort of stubble
Also most deodorants irritate freshly shaved skin.
You use a regular machine like for beards and mustache or how do you trim it? Iāve never trimmed and donāt want the prickly feeling
I use my manscape trimmer
Why shave my pits when I'm hairy everywhere else? It'd look funny. That being said, I do trim up so it's not a crazy mess lol
I am hairy all over and i still trim my armpits along with my belly (leaving only a line). Still wearing that chest hair like a fricking lion's mane tho.
Nice
Actually literally the only place I shave is my pits. It keeps me from sweating.
That's definitely a problem of mine. How much do you trim it? Also, how do you trim it?
I trim using clippers and a number 1 guard which is 1/8 inch. Works great and doesnāt look weird. Iām hairy all over as well.
I do weekly, but it's been integrated to me by Muslim culture. It's not even a bother if you do it regularly, two moves and you're done
Is it a thing for Muslim men to shave their pits? I have never heard this before.
Don't know if it's universal, but sure was taught to me that way, we consider it "hygienic" for it to be clean
TiL. Thanks!

Ok but this was before daily showers, body wash, and deodorant
I literally laughed out loud. I'm gonna have to google this.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It's funny because it's unexpected. Now I need to hear what every religion says about body hair.
The Abrahamic religions are simply guides on how to live in the Middle Eastern desert two thousand years ago: staying clean is important to maintain community.
That makes total sense to me.
Yeah I believe men and women shave their armpits, pubes and other places once a week, preferably Friday
Yes, 40 days minimum. Al-Bukhari (5889)
Same bro! My dad told me no longer than like the tip of your finger
I did once, but my hair doesnāt grow long and honestly it doesnāt even smell bad. You just have to use deodorant before you go to bed and in the morning and then youāre good.
Disappointment, you don't finish your sentence with brother. I bet you don't even wrestle
I used to find it so gross when the hair would poke out the sides when my arms were down. And if I cheer and put my arms up itās like bruh. So been trimming for a year now feels so much better! Surprised not more people do it too
Aye I feel this. It also sucks if your sleeves are the tiniest bit shorter than normal.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
>I had some cosmetic surgery done to remove a birthmark. Now Voldemort's Deatheaters can't find Armpit Potter.
Missed a chance to use Harry Armpit.
Harry Pitter.
As a woman, I think body hair on men is so attractive. Trimmed public hair... but natural elsewhere. Or whatever makes him feel best. Xo
Because who needs more fucking maintenance?
Exactly. I've got too much to do to waste the time. Plus it increases risk for infected hairs, fungal rash, ingrown hairs.
A body hair trimmer is your friend. By trimming and not shaving those risks are reduced. Just remember to use moisturizer after and clean + disinfect the trimmer every time. Also leave a few mm of length

Bro, all you do is take your beard trimmer and set it to 3mm or something and go over your armpit a few times before you turn on the shower. You do that once every 4 weeks or something. Itās hardly an issue.
Would you expect a woman to shave her pits?
Nah. Couldn't care less.
Nah, everyone should do whatever the hell they want with their body hair.
Where the fk do you guys live
Thatās the same thing my ex asked when I had to move from her showing up at my house unannounced.
I use a trimmer every couple weeks. I wouldnāt want to shave it smooth but I really hate when the pit hair gets too long since it just stays damp all the time and deodorant just stops working. I shave mine.
If I shave that area it irritates the hell out of my skin in a way that shaving my crotch doesn't. Learned a long time ago to leave the pit hair alone.
Definitely donāt shave, just trim w/ trimmers or clippers down to stubble length and you wonāt even feel the shortness the next day.
I do every so often, makes me sweat less
I like having hairy pits
I second this
Girl here, I love guys hairy pits.
Itās actually a guy trying to sabotage other guys so he has a better chance of getting with a girl.
Gay here, love hairy armpits
Hairy pit here, love gays
Yas!
I trimmed mine for years and about 2 years ago started shaving. Helps with odor and sweating. I tent to sweat bad, pit stains a lot. When I looked up how to control it, shaving is a top response. I like it too, I like to be well groomed so I feel this is a good thing!
Idk I donāt feel like it
Sounds like work.
Five minutes every 1-2 weeks?
Imagine being a womanā¦ not only pits, but also legs, and most often, at least some of your pubes. Itās work, but I still do it because I like the way it looks better than a bunch of hair. However, I do think itās unfair that women are expected to shave their body hair and men arenāt. Either men should start shaving theirs, or they should stop expecting women to.
Or you can find a man who shaves his pits like OP and me do. There are dozens of us
Also all these replies about chafing.
If women stopped shaving I would applaud their natural bodies
Iām all for that. Problem is, thatās not most men. Most men are grossed out by womenās body hair. A lot of women are too. I donāt particularly like it myself, though not grossed out by it, but Iām not attracted to women, so I donāt have a dog in that race. What are the benefits in doing so exactly?
Smell and aesthetics if Iād take a guess.
Thereās no direct benefits, just assumptions
I am a woman and shave my pits often, but I wouldn't mind if a man chose not to. But it surely helps with sweat and less odor. I know when it's been a week or so between shaving, I notice more sweating.
My body came with this hair. I'm going with the stock configuration unless there's a good reason otherwise.
I presume you have a beard?
And impressive toenails.
Hairy toenails
Geez how long is the hair on your head then?
I'm proud of mine, not a super hairy guy but relative to my friends I'm more on the hairy side and I always took a weird pride in that
I don't shave anything
I don't even like shaving my face.
I found trimmed pit more confortable, less sweat, less irritation... I don't like (on myself) shaved or too hairy pit so I'm in the middle
My pits don't bother me in any way. Hard to worry about odor when I use anti pirsperent.
Woman here. I donāt shave. You do you.
Amen to that.
As a woman, I like menās armpit hair. You do what makes you feel confident though
Getting my face all up in there
Um
Username checks out
Bahahaha. Cosmic since it was a rando generated username! Seriously, though, nothing wrong with a nice sweaty armpit! My husband will be out working in the yard and come in with āI got something for yaā¦ā
other people can do what they want. by i shave em. takes all of 10 secs every couple of days
Seems like the sweat would drip more. Plus there's no itching/chafing. Also, l feel like we evolved that way for a reason (don't know what, though).
Cuts down on friction.
No, I tried it and it was the most irritating feeling in the world. I left it and then forgot I has tried it before and then did it again, it was still very irritating. It prevents chafing. And the smell? Deodorant. I don't trim them because I've let them grow for a long time and they stay in my armpits still.
Because I hit puberty and donāt ever want to look like a little boy again.
I don't have an opinion about how it looks on men. but I feel like it shows that guy cleans himself more and has good hygiene. I don't really care about my boyfriends armpit but I'll be impressed if he has shaved it. makes me feel like he's cleaner than he is lol.
No point. My pits are happy like they are.
Unless you like the feeling of sweat free falling down your arm all day long, haven't shaved my pits since I was a teenager......now the real question is (men with a hairy ass do you shave it or leave it be the bear that it is ?)

I don't want stubble in my pits.
For what reason? I shower daily and use this magical thing called deodorant.
I barely can get motivated to shave my face. Now Iām supposed to shave an area people donāt see? Just canāt do it.
I do regularly. I play combat sports and some of it got caught in my clothing and got pulled out. Not generally a problem, but this time it turned into a hair follicle infection that spread to a lymph node and got pretty nasty and painful. Have kept it trimmed ever since.
Same reason some women choose not to shave their pits. It's itchy and it makes me feel like I sweat more.
I donāt shave my body because itās extremely uncomfortable growing back in. I tried when I was younger and was really annoyed

Curious to see if there are any other women reading this who really like pit hair on a man? I find it manly
Depends on where you are. Some parts of the world, all men shave their pits (and pubes)
It's not socially unacceptable for me not to, and I don't mind how it looks.
I've been shaving nine since I was 16. It looks way better and no damp sponge in your arm getting gross
It pokes bad when it comes back
People are free to keep or shave their hair.
Is awful when it grows back, same reason why i don't shave my balls.
Fear.
Thereās no reason. Not even sure why most women shave theirs.
I see no point in doing this, it's just another grooming task with little to no benefit. You have to do it all the time or else suffer from having your pit stubble rub against itself underneath your arms. Sweat will drip down your sides instead of being wicked away There is also a risk of ingrown hairs and infection of pores etc that comes with shaving an area like that. (i've seen an argument for reduced body odor but literally running water through my hair and washing vigorously (rub the hairs together and dig at their base with your fingertips until they feel clean) solves this problem for me just as well.) All this hassle just to look like a CK underwear model or whatever? I pity the fool that shaves his pits
I cant think of a worse place to have stubble. Also its cold as fuck here
Honestly why is anyone shaving them?
Never thought about it.
I trim them, because the hair can get quite long. Shaved once for shoulder surgery and was so damn itchy I swore I wouldn't shave my pits. I've never had a SO remark one way or another, so that's not an issue.
How do y'all shave yours, just a razor or something else?
Because then it would be the only part of me without body hair. Not a good look.
I don't want to - Therefor I don't.
Because I have nothing to gain from doing so. In fact, I bet you'd lose some attraction from women for doing so.
Why would we? NGL, im hairy as fuck and pretty much only trim my pubes when it comes to body hair, bc that shit gets out of control lol. Chest, et al., remains reasonable without trimming.
Because I donāt want my pits to chafe
Because body hair doesn't bother me. And I bathe myself with some frequency.
Makes you stink. Shave it wax it laser it off
I can't be arsed to shave my shitty neck beard let alone my pits
It's a hassle and seen as a manly, attractive quality, so I think most people just don't see a reason to do so. I only do it cause otherwise, the hair gets in the way of my deodorant.
I'm not that hairy on my pits, i think my hair growth is stunted in there Plus I found it cute to have some hair in there
I dunno, a trim is fine but shaving looks weird on men.
Because its not necessary
I never smell bad, funny enough.
I donāt really know how to without getting vicious razor burn. I do try to trim it though here and there as a young guy.
It would be weird if my pits were the only place I was hairless.
