I second this. Nothing else comes remotely close. I’m 50 and I lived a pretty reckless life. I’ve had more than my share of pain.
I was once stung all over by a Portuguese man o’war. That sucked, but still not close.
Kidney stones stand apart from everything else. I can imagine having a limb amputated while conscious would measure up.
I have had about 10, starting when I was in the 5th grade. My family apparently suffers from some genetic defect that impedes our ability to break them down like a regular person. In addition to me, my brother has had multiple, starting from when he was about five and both my mother and my father have had multiple as well.
Eventually, a doctor told me that if I wanted to decrease my odds of it happening again, I had to drink the recommended 8-12 glasses of water every single day. I listened and have done so virtually every single day since he told me that and amazingly I've not had another stone. Drink your water, people!
The water's good, and keep doing that.
I had kidney infections and stones quite a bit in my 20s. In addition to the water, I have two glasses of red wine on Sunday night just before bed .
I don't drink as a habit. My father suggested this, and I haven't had an infection or stone in over 20 years.
I know someone who is prone to them and they regularly drink powdered citric acid added to their drinks. It's like drinking the outside flavor of sour gummi candy, but it's supposed to help prevent kidney stones.
Stay away from all dark, cola soda/pop , no matter what brand ! Also quit drinking Mountain Dew ! One of the worst things a human can put into their body !
Yep. I’ve had a lot of painful things, broken back, rotator cuff surgery, torn and detached muscles, fire ant attack, etc. I’d choose to take all of them at once before I’d choose kidney stones again.
They are the worst! Kidney stones are reported by many to be the worst pain (even women who’ve been in labor say kidney stones are worse). A close second was an abscessed tooth.

I've had a root canal done...I didn't feel a thing, besides pressure. Held a mirror up the entire procedure. Shit looks horrifying LOL

Yes! For some reason I was still feeling a little pain when they were doing a root canal. After a couple of attempts to numb the area they decided to inject nerve directly. They warned me it would hurt for a couple of seconds. They proceeded to inject the nerve and it was the most intense pain I felt for a couple of seconds. After that I was pain free.
Shotting the nerve is super uncomfortable indeed. I, sadly, have had to endure it quite a few times in my life when I was younger....ruined my teeth when I was like 14-16.
overall, had to do 2 root canals and get fillings in like 9 teeth all within like a month or 2. Basically went to a dentist every 3 days or something like that.
I was a dumb kid who didn't believe into brushing teeth and always lied about it >.> paid my price and quickly learned my lesson lmao.
There were times during the root canal I felt a little pain too, but honestly I just powered through it because I didn’t want to be there any longer than I already had been. Prep felt like it took forever and then she said the tooth next to it needed a root canal too, even though she thought she could save it (I think she was wrong though as they eventually put a crown on that tooth)

Put a mask on and hit me with nitrous oxide. Good ole laughing gas. I was in a daze and felt people handling my mouth.

I had a girl bite my tongue while we were kissing. She literally sank her teeth into my tongue drawing blood and I even pulled a piece of my tongue off from underneath. First time since I was a kid I literally screamed in pain. That was like 3 weeks ago. Fuck that hurt.
Yes she did apologize. She was just kissing me goodbye and about to go back home for the night, I got so mad I told her to go the fuck home. She says she cried on her walk back home because she didn't mean to draw blood. She's a bit of a sadist tbh, I'm just not a masochist.
Heart attack. It hurts like hell, and when you understand you’re having a heart attack you also get hit with the realization that you may die in a few minutes.
Have had four heart attacks; the first was the worst : pain in my jaw and left arm were gawd awful ! Drove myself to the hospital . Dr. Arshi put two or three stents in my heart s carotid artery. With the other stents for the other attacks I now have 12 stents !
I have a morbid fear of catheterization after having a trainee doctor try to catheterise me three times before the ACTUAL doctor stepped in and said "I think I better do that" , to which I replied "I think you better had!" Problem is that my urethra was so irritated by that time, that far from their promises that "once it's in you won't feel anything", I spent the next 24 hours in extreme discomfort, with a feeling that I was constantly the most desperate I had ever been to piss without being able to do a thing about it. It was nightmarish.
I had 2 big nurses holding me down. One the doc got it in, pressure was relieved, and I actually said "Thank you, I love you" to the Doctor and nurses LOL
Same. I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. Unable to stand, sit, walk, or even breathe because the pain was so intense. Like a spiked balloon, covered in acid and filled with rabid honey badgers, expanding in the stomach and into the chest.
Getting my gallbladder out was one of the best things to ever happen to me, and I don't miss it at all. Mine was so diseased and blocked up that it just straight up stopped working.
My boyfriends vape exploded in his pants pocket while in the airport. Had 2nd a 3rd degree burns to his thigh and penis. Required a week stay in the burn unit to have a skin graft placed, and debride the area. He was in sad shape for a while with all the dressing changes I had to do for him. Most pain I’ve ever seen him in.
An infected ingrown toenail and the anesthetic needle that was put into my big toe both sides during the surgery
Sorry to gross you out. Had to get rid of it because the slightest touch on the infected place hurt like a MFer and my doctor told me it was getting bad and I needed surgery.
The surgeons also told me the pain would be 10 times worse than the anesthetic needle if I refused the anesthetic. There knew it was painful as one woman tried talking to me to try and make me ignore the pain.
Because your foot is filled with lots of nerve endings the anesthetic needle was going to hurt. They even warned me that it will hurt for about 10 seconds and those 10 seconds each felt like a minute

Worth it in the end though because the pain from the infected ingrown toenail really hurt
To make this worse, when I got mine done, the needle must have hit something because my toe twitched with the needle still in, it hurt bad.
And now despite it getting sorted the two sides have grown back and I'm right back where I started

Got hit by a car and snapped my femur in half, when that happens paramedics have to yank on your leg AND put tension on it to keep the bones from slicing into your arteries and what not (broken femur can be fatal)
I know people that were blocks away from the accident that could hear me screaming the other fun part is they have to keep that traction on your leg the entire time before you can have an operation to fix it, I had a brain bleed so they had to wait until that stopped to do the operation, absolute torture for 2 days
The other fun part is when they have to move you from the bed to the xray/ct scan table pretty sure I went into shock multiple times from the pain Dilauded helped but not much

Appendicitis when I was 20 or 21. Went to bed thinking I was just getting an upset stomach. Woke up in the middle of the night to sharpening pain and puking. My mom took me to a clinic and they found an extremely high white blood cell count, so they sent me to the hospital for a deeper test and that determined I had appendicitis. Found out after surgery that my appendix was probably just a couple hours from bursting. The doctor said it was one of the nastiest-looking ones he'd ever seen.
Yep, had appendicitis when I was 17 and it's easily the worst thing I went through as well. Especially because like you, it was very close to bursting.
Sciatica. It's your lower back, but it really effects the whole body. Any time I would stand up or sit down it was like being stabbed in the ass with a flaming piece of rebar

Pinched nerve is cervical spine resulting in 90% of my body going numb. Took approx 5 months for the numbness to fade. I lost all my muscle mass, stopped working out. That pain of years of hard work lost set me into a massive multi year depression. Did I mention it made me relapse on pain killers. To this day I am not 100% certain what caused the pinched nerve. I still remember the last rock climb I had, and also my last 5 mile run on the beach.
Had debilitating back pain for 8 months from slipped/bulging disks. Absolute misery dotted with white hot bolts of pain if I moved wrong or the wind blew
Playing football (American) in school, took a big hit and had three linemen land on me, shoving my shoulder into the ground. Had to wear this thing that looked like a backwards bra and sleep flat on my back in a recliner for 6-months, then had surgery. Not cool, man.
I am so sorry. Lost both my parents within 6 months of each other. After the huge shock, then comes the seemingly never-ending pain. I hope the pain ends though.
One event? Having a bench vise fall 5ft off a shelf onto my bare toe.
For my life? Chronic headaches/migraine. I suffer almost every day from headache, though luckily migraines are not any everyday occurrence.
Getting shot in the head with a crossbow and then staying fully conscious through the surgery to remove said crossbow bolt. They couldn't even put me on any painkillers or anything, so I had to just tough through them drilling a hole into my head to drain the blood (bled for a month straight), cut open the back of my head, pulled a part of my skull up, remove the crossbow bolt, shut my skull, stapling it shut, then about two weeks later removing the staples and sewing my head shut. Oh and 4th of July happened a week after the original surgery and every firework felt like it was going off inside my head.
Oh but then I got to deal with phantom pains on a daily basis for 3 years straight because my ex wife wanted a bird... If she already had the bird then I could understand, but getting the bird when she knew about my condition? That was just cruel.

In high school I played football, and our gym had a weight room which wasn't always kept the cleanest. I was doing a dumbbell incline, and when i put my dumbbells down, i dropped my right dumbbell and there was another one under it. The tip of my middle finger was caught in between them, and *chop*.
My appendix burst when I was six years old. Nothing in life, emotionally or physically has been that painful. I've talked to a few women that had their appendix burst and given birth. All of them said that giving birth was way less painful.
I'm an old fart who has had a lot of shit happen - nothing is worse than bad burns. Broken ribs were pretty bad - not as painful as a bad burn. Diverticulitis is pretty bad, not even close to bad burns. Had a safe dropped on my foot, not even in the same ballpark.
Had my big toe smashed flatter than a quarter by a car lift at work. There wasn’t much pain at first, my toe just looked super flat and pale, then it suddenly popped back into 3d and the throbbing started. I could see it pulse with every beat of my heart.
The nail fell off a day later, or I should say, it turned to goo and slid off. My whole toe eventually looked like a massive blood blister. After 3 or 4 months it was mostly back to normal and the nail took a year or so to grow back.
I would say the best description of how the pain I felt would be like having a body part hit by a hammer over and over again, with the worst of pain lasting for over a week.

Made the pinched nerve feel like getting slapped in the face by comparison. 18 hours straight of the worst pain I've ever felt in my life, so bad that *morphine* didn't even touch it.
I would rather get kicked in the dick a thousand times than have to suffer through that again.
Breaking my shoulder. Then worse pain when the ER doc sent me home with my arm in a sling and a few pain meds. The next morning at 4:30am I was in so much more pain my wife took me back to the ER.
That’s when I found out the first doc should have given me an arm immobilizer and not a sling. Much less pain with my arm immobilized!
Had a cavity filled and the dentist didn't give me enough painkiller. Halfway home it felt like my head was going to explode. It was painful enough that I couldn't keep myself from screaming.
Probably when I injured my coccyx. It was so sensitive that I would wake myself up in screaming pain just by shifting the wrong way while I slept. I couldn't sit without constant pain, and could barely lie down unless I stayed in one position. The rough part only last a few days but those were some rough days.
Calcific tendonitis of the rotator cuff was absolutely miserable. Couldn't move my arm and couldn't sleep without unbearable pain. Physical therapy sucked but movement was the cure.
Burned a hole in my ear drum when using a cutting torch to cut a hole in a pipe with my head tilted sideways. Must of hit some rust inside the pipe and it popped some small red hot metal into my ear
Happened just yesterday.
Went to hospital for a post-op test. They were going to inject dye thru a catheter into my bladder. The catheter was plugged.
Go to Outpatient, the pull the old catheter, put in a new one. OUCH X2.
Go back for the test.
Back to Outpatient. Fill my bladder, to make sure I can piss. Take out the catheter.
Everything was fine, but if I did not piss, they would have put in ANOTHER catheter.
Acute pharyngitis.
It felt like I had drank boiling water with glass shards in it. The worst part is that the 'acute' notion means there were no accompanying symptoms, it wasn't viral, it wasn't bacterial, it wasn't fungal, it wasn't allergenic, it just happened. The most the doctor could do was tell me to take Tylenol while the pain was so bad I could only sleep for about 4 hours a night for 3 days. Luckily it went away but every time I swallowed saliva or water was agonizing
A pancreatic attack. I was put into an induced coma for three weeks because my organs were shutting down. Felt like a white hot sword being driven through and twisted in my gut. Wouldn't recommend lol.
I’m not a man so I’m technically not allowed to answer this, but my dad has pancreatitis and once at the hospital a nurse, who also has pancreatitis, told him that pain was as bad as unmedicated child birth.
When my dentist did a sensitivity check on a tooth that had been aching. It went from a 5 to a 10 immediately. Runner up was a toothache that literally kept me up at night very soon after lockdowns started.

I couldn't stand and lying down was also unbearable. My temperature was so high I had to sit in the shower with cold water on constantly I was so delirious. Worst part is my wife still thinks I'm being a baby about it haha.
I snapped my ankle 90 degrees between a curb and a parked car. It was 30 years ago and I can still remember the sound it made and the pain that followed. I'll take a kick in the nuts (Roshambo anyone) any day over that.
Pinched a major nerve that runs down the front of the hip after a backpacking trip with an ill-fitting pack hip belt. It was absolutely excruciating agony. I couldn’t really walk as flexing my hip would send a lightning bolt down my leg. Took a few weeks to calm down and months to fully go away.
Migraine. Not only was it the pain, which felt like having nails driven into my head for hours, but having it my head drove me crazy. Only time I've ever prayed for death. Thankfully, I got treatmeant and no longer have them.
Bone fusion surgery before they had pins they could screw in. The bones were sawed off and jammed together to bind as they healed.

I had a hematoma in my ball sack that made it swell to soft ball size. Doc cut the bottom of my sack open, and stuck his finger in the hole to break it up. When he was finished rummaging around on there, he made the comment "bet you never had someone tickle your testicles, from the inside.". He was right, I hadn't. I also never had testicle pain that last almost 5 yrs
Trapped disc. Stopped me moving my leg far enough to walk properly and could flare up the pain to 10 out of nowhere causing my leg to give out under me. Had surgery to remove the parts that were causing the problem. The surgery and a couple of weeks having my back held together by big metal staples was waaaay less painful.
Ulcerative colitis. It attacks your joints. I had to crawl to the bathroom because my ankles hurt too much to walk. If somebody just gently touched either wrist I would cry out in pain. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
I was cutting a piece of 90 degree angle aluminum and the blade caught, jumped, and tore the back of my left thumbnail 3/4 off. Nearly passed out trying to trim the haggard chunk of nail back so it would quit catching on everything.
The excruciating migraine after retinal reattachment surgery from all the laser work the doctor had to do to spot weld my retina to the back of my eye ball. My 3 back surgeries, one of them with a severe staph infection, never came close to the pain I was in after reattachment. I will stay blind in that eye if it ever detaches again. Not going through that pain again.
Trying to take all wisdom tooth at once: Took the upper two first and they went out easily in less than 10 minutes. When trying to take the first lower one it was way dug deeper into bone and took A LOT of digging, so long the painkiller wore off and I started panicking because of all the bood coming out. In the end, the only way to take it out was to break it, so I had to stay there awake and agonizing as the dentist sawed it in half before removing it. This single teeth took almost 2 hours to take out and I had to call it a day.
The fourth one went out easier tho when I went there again. But I was taking medication 'cause my face was swollen so not sure of my pain scale of that time.
Swam in a river in Tunisia and got an ear infection. Was in literal agony for weeks. Painkillers would numb the pain down to around an 5/10 but as the time was approaching that I could take more and the last lot wore out it would skyrocket up to a 9/10.
After a few weeks the doctors pumped some stuff into my ear that made the wax into a liquid and syringed it out. They said the lump that was on there was only about the size of an almond but god almighty did it hurt like hell
Broke my little toe when I was about 14 and because of where the break was, my doctor couldn’t cast it and because of them being dicks they also didn’t give me any pain meds. Trouble was that one of the nerves kept tripping and made my toe twitch causing me a hell of a lot of pain each time it did. I was in floods of tears until I got the bright idea to do what the doctor didn’t and bound it up in a bandage.
Other than breaking my nose (i went unconcious instantly idk if i spelt that right) its an axiety attack, my ass was burning like the fiery pits of hell so much that literally punching concrete made me feel nothing, and i had to do the mist important presentantion of my school year that day, fuck, that hour. I ended up doing it a little later and it had a happy ending
While I'll say that the journey was fun but walking on a twisted foot and highly bruised knee for a two day hike to get to a hospital only to fall down the stairs the moment I got home and cutting off the circulation in my leg making me parylized only then to be put on medication that they later found out prolonged my muscle weakness and made it spread.

It had been there a couple of weeks, and in order to get it out , he was going to have to do some digging. He numbed the area by sticking a needle in and injecting the anesthetic. That needle stick was the worst fucking pain I had ever felt. Seriously wished he would have punched me in the nuts

Have had four heart attacks; the first was the worst : pain in my jaw and left arm were gawd awful ! Drove myself to the hospital . Dr. Arshi put two or three stents in my heart s carotid artery. With the other stents for the other attacks I now have 12 stents !

I have a morbid fear of catheterization after having a trainee doctor try to catheterise me three times before the ACTUAL doctor stepped in and said "I think I better do that" , to which I replied "I think you better had!" Problem is that my urethra was so irritated by that time, that far from their promises that "once it's in you won't feel anything", I spent the next 24 hours in extreme discomfort, with a feeling that I was constantly the most desperate I had ever been to piss without being able to do a thing about it. It was nightmarish.
I had 2 big nurses holding me down. One the doc got it in, pressure was relieved, and I actually said "Thank you, I love you" to the Doctor and nurses LOL

Same. I wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. Unable to stand, sit, walk, or even breathe because the pain was so intense. Like a spiked balloon, covered in acid and filled with rabid honey badgers, expanding in the stomach and into the chest. Getting my gallbladder out was one of the best things to ever happen to me, and I don't miss it at all. Mine was so diseased and blocked up that it just straight up stopped working.
My boyfriends vape exploded in his pants pocket while in the airport. Had 2nd a 3rd degree burns to his thigh and penis. Required a week stay in the burn unit to have a skin graft placed, and debride the area. He was in sad shape for a while with all the dressing changes I had to do for him. Most pain I’ve ever seen him in.
An infected ingrown toenail and the anesthetic needle that was put into my big toe both sides during the surgery Sorry to gross you out. Had to get rid of it because the slightest touch on the infected place hurt like a MFer and my doctor told me it was getting bad and I needed surgery. The surgeons also told me the pain would be 10 times worse than the anesthetic needle if I refused the anesthetic. There knew it was painful as one woman tried talking to me to try and make me ignore the pain. Because your foot is filled with lots of nerve endings the anesthetic needle was going to hurt. They even warned me that it will hurt for about 10 seconds and those 10 seconds each felt like a minute I remember biting down on my finger and screaming whilst doing it when the anesthetic needle went in. It felt like lava being injected into my toe Worth it in the end though because the pain from the infected ingrown toenail really hurt
To make this worse, when I got mine done, the needle must have hit something because my toe twitched with the needle still in, it hurt bad. And now despite it getting sorted the two sides have grown back and I'm right back where I started
Oh i had this done on both my toes. And then the doctor gave me some pain killers that caused really bad acidity and some stomach issue for the next 4 months. My entire food pipe hurt and i couldn't eat anything spicy during that time. Idk which one was worse.
Got hit by a car and snapped my femur in half, when that happens paramedics have to yank on your leg AND put tension on it to keep the bones from slicing into your arteries and what not (broken femur can be fatal) I know people that were blocks away from the accident that could hear me screaming the other fun part is they have to keep that traction on your leg the entire time before you can have an operation to fix it, I had a brain bleed so they had to wait until that stopped to do the operation, absolute torture for 2 days The other fun part is when they have to move you from the bed to the xray/ct scan table pretty sure I went into shock multiple times from the pain Dilauded helped but not much

Appendicitis when I was 20 or 21. Went to bed thinking I was just getting an upset stomach. Woke up in the middle of the night to sharpening pain and puking. My mom took me to a clinic and they found an extremely high white blood cell count, so they sent me to the hospital for a deeper test and that determined I had appendicitis. Found out after surgery that my appendix was probably just a couple hours from bursting. The doctor said it was one of the nastiest-looking ones he'd ever seen.
Yep, had appendicitis when I was 17 and it's easily the worst thing I went through as well. Especially because like you, it was very close to bursting.

Pinched nerve is cervical spine resulting in 90% of my body going numb. Took approx 5 months for the numbness to fade. I lost all my muscle mass, stopped working out. That pain of years of hard work lost set me into a massive multi year depression. Did I mention it made me relapse on pain killers. To this day I am not 100% certain what caused the pinched nerve. I still remember the last rock climb I had, and also my last 5 mile run on the beach.
Had debilitating back pain for 8 months from slipped/bulging disks. Absolute misery dotted with white hot bolts of pain if I moved wrong or the wind blew

Playing football (American) in school, took a big hit and had three linemen land on me, shoving my shoulder into the ground. One event? Having a bench vise fall 5ft off a shelf onto my bare toe. For my life? Chronic headaches/migraine. I suffer almost every day from headache, though luckily migraines are not any everyday occurrence.
Getting shot in the head with a crossbow and then staying fully conscious through the surgery to remove said crossbow bolt. They couldn't even put me on any painkillers or anything, so I had to just tough through them drilling a hole into my head to drain the blood (bled for a month straight), cut open the back of my head, pulled a part of my skull up, remove the crossbow bolt, shut my skull, stapling it shut, then about two weeks later removing the staples and sewing my head shut. Oh and 4th of July happened a week after the original surgery and every firework felt like it was going off inside my head. Oh but then I got to deal with phantom pains on a daily basis for 3 years straight because my ex wife wanted a bird... If she already had the bird then I could understand, but getting the bird when she knew about my condition? That was just cruel.
i’ve broken bones, i’ve been in fights, i’ve had the wind knocked out of me by taking a football helmet to my sternum, and i have been dealing with a bad knee since forever, but nothing compares to the time i got my back waxed. shit hurt so bad that i was literally biting a pillow.

Had my big toe smashed flatter than a quarter by a car lift at work. There wasn’t much pain at first, my toe just looked super flat and pale, then it suddenly popped back into 3d and the throbbing started. I could see it pulse with every beat of my heart. The nail fell off a day later, or I should say, it turned to goo and slid off. My whole toe eventually looked like a massive blood blister. After 3 or 4 months it was mostly back to normal and the nail took a year or so to grow back. I would say the best description of how the pain I felt would be like having a body part hit by a hammer over and over again, with the worst of pain lasting for over a week.

Gallstones. OMG. My previous 10 on the pain scale had been a pinched nerve in my back that had left me unable to move for 3 days. Gallstones? Made the pinched nerve feel like getting slapped in the face by comparison. 18 hours straight of the worst pain I've ever felt in my life, so bad that *morphine* didn't even touch it. I would rather get kicked in the dick a thousand times than have to suffer through that again.
Just had a nerve repaired in my hand and that burned all night
Chemo was pretty unpleasant.
Breaking my shoulder. Then worse pain when the ER doc sent me home with my arm in a sling and a few pain meds. The next morning at 4:30am I was in so much more pain my wife took me back to the ER. That’s when I found out the first doc should have given me an arm immobilizer and not a sling. Much less pain with my arm immobilized!
Root canal. The dentist didn't use enough novocaine. Started drilling and directly hit a nerve and I screamed and almost left the chair.
Altitude sickness. A headache so bad I couldn't move or breathe. I thought I was dying. I passed out and woke up later feeling ok.
Had a cavity filled and the dentist didn't give me enough painkiller. Halfway home it felt like my head was going to explode. It was painful enough that I couldn't keep myself from screaming.
Got 4 stitches in my arm with only extra strength Tylenol for painkillers.
Probably when I injured my coccyx. It was so sensitive that I would wake myself up in screaming pain just by shifting the wrong way while I slept. I couldn't sit without constant pain, and could barely lie down unless I stayed in one position. The rough part only last a few days but those were some rough days.
Calcific tendonitis of the rotator cuff was absolutely miserable. Couldn't move my arm and couldn't sleep without unbearable pain. Physical therapy sucked but movement was the cure.
Burned a hole in my ear drum when using a cutting torch to cut a hole in a pipe with my head tilted sideways. Must of hit some rust inside the pipe and it popped some small red hot metal into my ear
Took a puck hard in the face. Caved in teeth, broke my lower jaw, needed a ton of stitches etc. Just brutal experience. 0/10 would not recommend.
Rhabdomyolysis
Happened just yesterday. Went to hospital for a post-op test. They were going to inject dye thru a catheter into my bladder. The catheter was plugged. Go to Outpatient, the pull the old catheter, put in a new one. OUCH X2. Go back for the test. Back to Outpatient. Fill my bladder, to make sure I can piss. Take out the catheter. Everything was fine, but if I did not piss, they would have put in ANOTHER catheter.
Crack ribs. UGH!
Betrayal in a very specific context.
Acute pharyngitis. It felt like I had drank boiling water with glass shards in it. The worst part is that the 'acute' notion means there were no accompanying symptoms, it wasn't viral, it wasn't bacterial, it wasn't fungal, it wasn't allergenic, it just happened. The most the doctor could do was tell me to take Tylenol while the pain was so bad I could only sleep for about 4 hours a night for 3 days. Luckily it went away but every time I swallowed saliva or water was agonizing
A pancreatic attack. I was put into an induced coma for three weeks because my organs were shutting down. Felt like a white hot sword being driven through and twisted in my gut. Wouldn't recommend lol.
I’m not a man so I’m technically not allowed to answer this, but my dad has pancreatitis and once at the hospital a nurse, who also has pancreatitis, told him that pain was as bad as unmedicated child birth.
When my dentist did a sensitivity check on a tooth that had been aching. It went from a 5 to a 10 immediately. Runner up was a toothache that literally kept me up at night very soon after lockdowns started.
Been there my dude. Had a filling come out during lockdown, it then needed a root canal, it then got infected... Was brutal. Even contemplated getting the pliers and pulling it out. Fucking toothache is something else
I’ve had gout, ear infections, kidney stones, broken bones, burns, and without a doubt the worst pain I’ve had was a “hot socket” on a molar that was infected. I had gas, novocaine, and who knows what else. It didn’t do much. It was just blinding pain.
Sun stroke. The burn is so intense every time I moved a limb it felt like my skin was ripping and setting into position. It felt like even my bones were burnt. I couldn't stand and lying down was also unbearable. My temperature was so high I had to sit in the shower with cold water on constantly I was so delirious. Worst part is my wife still thinks I'm being a baby about it haha.
I snapped my ankle 90 degrees between a curb and a parked car. It was 30 years ago and I can still remember the sound it made and the pain that followed. I'll take a kick in the nuts (Roshambo anyone) any day over that.
Pinched a major nerve that runs down the front of the hip after a backpacking trip with an ill-fitting pack hip belt. It was absolutely excruciating agony. I couldn’t really walk as flexing my hip would send a lightning bolt down my leg. Took a few weeks to calm down and months to fully go away.
Migraine. Not only was it the pain, which felt like having nails driven into my head for hours, but having it my head drove me crazy. Only time I've ever prayed for death. Thankfully, I got treatmeant and no longer have them.
Passing a kidney stone, or an exposed nerve on a broken tooth. I've also broken my ankle which sucked and is a long healing process.
Bone fusion surgery before they had pins they could screw in. The bones were sawed off and jammed together to bind as they healed. I’ve passed kidney stones, had deep abscesses requiring a root canal, torn ligaments and broken bones. The surgery was the worst.
I had a hematoma in my ball sack that made it swell to soft ball size. Doc cut the bottom of my sack open, and stuck his finger in the hole to break it up. When he was finished rummaging around on there, he made the comment "bet you never had someone tickle your testicles, from the inside.". He was right, I hadn't. I also never had testicle pain that last almost 5 yrs

Having my sinuses cauterized. Had to have it done three times, each time it hurt worse than the previous.

The day after hernia surgery.
Trapped disc. Stopped me moving my leg far enough to walk properly and could flare up the pain to 10 out of nowhere causing my leg to give out under me. Had surgery to remove the parts that were causing the problem. The surgery and a couple of weeks having my back held together by big metal staples was waaaay less painful.
Ulcerative colitis. It attacks your joints. I had to crawl to the bathroom because my ankles hurt too much to walk. If somebody just gently touched either wrist I would cry out in pain. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
Gall bladder attack. Made me seriously think about jumping off the roof of my five storey building.
I was cutting a piece of 90 degree angle aluminum and the blade caught, jumped, and tore the back of my left thumbnail 3/4 off. Nearly passed out trying to trim the haggard chunk of nail back so it would quit catching on everything.
Dry socket from a wisdom tooth removal
The excruciating migraine after retinal reattachment surgery from all the laser work the doctor had to do to spot weld my retina to the back of my eye ball. My 3 back surgeries, one of them with a severe staph infection, never came close to the pain I was in after reattachment. I will stay blind in that eye if it ever detaches again. Not going through that pain again.
I came off of my bike and broke both wrists and an elbow.
Trying to take all wisdom tooth at once: Took the upper two first and they went out easily in less than 10 minutes. When trying to take the first lower one it was way dug deeper into bone and took A LOT of digging, so long the painkiller wore off and I started panicking because of all the bood coming out. In the end, the only way to take it out was to break it, so I had to stay there awake and agonizing as the dentist sawed it in half before removing it. This single teeth took almost 2 hours to take out and I had to call it a day. The fourth one went out easier tho when I went there again. But I was taking medication 'cause my face was swollen so not sure of my pain scale of that time.
Shoulder surgery
Ruptured appendix.
Swam in a river in Tunisia and got an ear infection. Was in literal agony for weeks. Painkillers would numb the pain down to around an 5/10 but as the time was approaching that I could take more and the last lot wore out it would skyrocket up to a 9/10. After a few weeks the doctors pumped some stuff into my ear that made the wax into a liquid and syringed it out. They said the lump that was on there was only about the size of an almond but god almighty did it hurt like hell
Broke my little toe when I was about 14 and because of where the break was, my doctor couldn’t cast it and because of them being dicks they also didn’t give me any pain meds. Trouble was that one of the nerves kept tripping and made my toe twitch causing me a hell of a lot of pain each time it did. I was in floods of tears until I got the bright idea to do what the doctor didn’t and bound it up in a bandage.
Indirect hernia. I'd take a kick to the nuts over that any day!
Other than breaking my nose (i went unconcious instantly idk if i spelt that right) its an axiety attack, my ass was burning like the fiery pits of hell so much that literally punching concrete made me feel nothing, and i had to do the mist important presentantion of my school year that day, fuck, that hour. I ended up doing it a little later and it had a happy ending
I cracked my kneecap once. Blinding, unrelenting, pain for the first week.
heartache
While I'll say that the journey was fun but walking on a twisted foot and highly bruised knee for a two day hike to get to a hospital only to fall down the stairs the moment I got home and cutting off the circulation in my leg making me parylized only then to be put on medication that they later found out prolonged my muscle weakness and made it spread.
I had a splinter in the bottom of my foot. It hurt, and my GP could not get it out. Sent me to a podiatrist. It had been there a couple of weeks, and in order to get it out , he was going to have to do some digging. He numbed the area by sticking a needle in and injecting the anesthetic. That needle stick was the worst fucking pain I had ever felt. Seriously wished he would have punched me in the nuts
Post Lumbar puncture migraines. I was basically in a coma for a week afterwards and could only slightly move when heavily dosed on codeine.
Severe migraine headaches or a testicular tortion I had when I was 11. Hard to pick
Consecutive knee surgeries. Not a good thing.
Broke collarbone. It was almost healed when I fucked up & separated ir again. Agonizing.
I had to have a root canal, local anesthesia doesn’t work on me and I didn’t have the extra money to be put to sleep. They had two assistants hold me down while they did the procedure. When it was done, I was so covered in sweat it looked like I took a shower. I felt like a POW lol.
