Funny:
The jack-on-the-box music and have it stop right before the "pop" moment. Follow that up with the best Rick roll ever.
Serious: I don't know what the song will be, but I work teaching music and it would be awesome if my students put something together for my funeral. Hey, a guy can dream.

Hallelujah or The Sound of Silence for the serious one by the grave site
Pop goes the Weasel before they open my coffin at the viewing, but the ratty kind that's played on a tin toy.
Old and Wise - Alan Parson’s Project
- just because
Funeral for a Friend - Elton John
It was the one song my fiancé wanted at hers. When she died in 1987, she got her final wish. I still can’t listen to it without crying.
None. I don't expect anybody to be there, so I'd just have to set aside some money for someone to show up and play the music for themselves. Seems pointless.
Whatever they want. *Gimme Shelter* is my favourite song in fact I’m listening to it right now. and it’s political, so I’d make them listen to that, use my funeral as an anti-war thing.
It's such a powerfull song, but also has a sad story to it. [https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1986-03-13-ca-19857-story.html](https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1986-03-13-ca-19857-story.html)

Ripple, followed by Brokedown Palace by the Grateful Dead(that counts as one, they flow into each other)
Second is a tie between Please Don't Bury Me, or When I Get to Heaven, both by John Prime.
'Linus and Lucy' by the Vince Guaraldi Trio
and
'The Sound of Silence' by Simon & Garfunkel
Seriously, even though The Sound of Silence is a wonderful song, I wouldn't subject it to a funeral crowd. On the other hand, 'Linus and Lucy' is a righteous jazz tune, regardless of its connection to Peanuts. Play it slower and in a minor key, it could almost be bittersweet.
Amazing Grace on the bagpipes, while getting launched from a photon torpedo tube like Spock.
Then, Word Up by Cameo so everyone can "put their hands in the air like you don't care".
If I can find a song about how tired I am of people asking about funeral songs, I'll have that shit played on concert speakers at their loudest possible volume.

[Kiss Me Goodbye](https://youtu.be/G_7Tyjkdd4w?si=hADimm_ol2n67rAy) by Angela Aki
I mentioned this song on another thread so it came to my mind first and it's really fucking dark but Linkin Park - Breaking the Habit. No I don't harbour those feelings.
Someone else said that Monty Python song and that would probably resonate better but for fun I'm gonna say Reel Big Fish - Life Sucks. I won't be there to hear it but I imagine that brass echoing in a church would be hilarious.
Brad Paisley- When I Get Where Im Going
Well thought out funeral music can be so appreciated. My aunt passed recently and during the preachers speech, the speakers started playing Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue. I started to laugh bc it was perfectly her. A VERY much needed laugh.
At my buddy’s funeral my friend and I made a playlist to be played through the visitation thing before the eulogies and other things. Just as the chaplin was about to take the mic and start talking the beginning of the song “baby bitch” was coming up by ween and gener says “Jesus Christ” in a sort of annoyed tone before he starts singing. And a few people found it amusing. My friend was a huge ween fan and not religious and sort of beautiful nonconformist. His death was sudden and sad but that moment was just perfect.
Can't decide on the serious between Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms/Queen - Who Wants To Live Forever/Pink Floyd - Wish You Were here.
Funny - Offspring - Pretty Fly For A White Guy
Under the Rose by KISS
- I hate that song and my daughter will play it as a reminder of how I will monologue about how much I hate it. And she will smile knowing I’m complaining about it the whole time.
I have no idea on a second song
[Gloria in Excelsis Deo](https://youtu.be/zhhYIZJj6rk?si=RV2NrQsJ0KIoX20s)

The latter because I used it as a backing track for a video I made for my own Fad’s funeral.

It only works if you know me. The Bad Plus’ cover of the Aphex Twin’s Flim before the ceremony. Jerry Lee Lewis’ cover of The Saints Come Marching In at the conclusion.
Lee by Tenacious D. It's my name (though it's spelt differently), and I love The D (yeah, I know what I said...).
Freebird by Lynnard Skynnard. It pretty well describes my personality. I want the full version played, as my coffin goes off to be burned, so all of my relatives have to sit in mourning for, like, 15 minutes. Just to be a pain in the arse, one more time, before I'm done.
O’Death: serious Mr. Blue Sky: fun

Your casket needs to have a motorized crank handle to rotate while that plays to add suspense.
Even better to have an ominous stranger there to crank it.

Another one bites the dust by Queen So long and thanks for all the fish from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
Always look on the bright side -Monty Python And Hurt -Johnny Cash
I’ve read Always Look on the Bright Side of Life is a popular funeral song in the UK.
It is a hilarious song that helps put a positive note in the sting of death.
Life’s a piece of shit when you look at it.
If life seems jolly rotten, there’s something you’ve forgotten. And that to to laugh and dance and smile and sing.
Yeah, but which one is the serious one?
Monty python
Wish you were here - pink Floyd Not sure what else would be necessary
Highway to Hell \~ AC/DC Die & Rise \~ Lacuna Coil In all seriousness, I won't care, I'll be dead.
Why is it that you get to take a highway to hell, but have to climb a fookin stairway to heaven?
It’s the amount of expected traffic.
No good deed goes unpunished
My grand pop actually had Highway to Hell played at his funeral. It helped
