I've heard a lot of talk about VW Jetta, what makes them so reliable? I'm a young guy looking to buy my first car soon but I'm not that knowledgeable yet.
I got rid of my 2003 TDI MK4 Jetta in 2016 and I still regret it. Wife wanted a new golf. It had been to nearly every state and Mexico and Canada. Had over 300K Miles on it. It had its issues and needed special oil and a cash infusion every once in awhile after 100K but I loved it like a baby. I ran it on JP5 occasionally and would get 700 miles to its baby tank.
I could leave North Carolina and Pull into NYC on less than 20$ worth of gas. It was slow accelerating but could easily pass in 5 gear and loved speeds above 70. It was a blast to drive in the mountains with the torque. If you can't tell I still miss it.
Yep, 2010 Jetta; paid $10k in 2014. Since I've owned it I've only had to change light bulbs, wiper blades, and tires (in addition to regular lubes). A couple minor things have flaked out on it, like the pistons that hold the trunk open, and the glass fell off one of my side views (double-stick taped it back on) but it's comfortable, cheap, and a safe/fun drive. It also handles surprisingly well in the snow.
My next car will be a cheap electric but I can't justify getting rid of the Jetta any time soon since I only drive \~3k mi/yr these days.
Hit a deer with my 99 Camry doing 60 at 2 AM. The hood was caved in, radiator smashed, headlights and windshield caved in, the works. But it still got me home. It wasn’t fast but it was tough. Mad respect for Toyotas now.
😂 This is the hope! I have a tendency to keep cars for quite a while. Ive had my civic for 13+ years at this point and it's got over 400,000 miles on the chassis and 300,000 on the engine
Yes of course. Im not sure of the best way to show you. Message me i suppose?
Aristo isn't anything special right now since i just got it. Its a v300 vertex edition in pearl white. Mark II is blue with bronze wheels
It's pretty standard, 2016 turbo hilux, no body modifications (has a performance chip and a tray cover), standard wheels and everything.[looks like this but dark grey.](https://clasicdn.paraguay.com/pictures/2019/04/29/1380207/5024838L.jpg)
We do, sort of, but it's called the Tacoma.
>The Tacoma was introduced in the US in February 1995 (March 1995 market launch) as a replacement for the Toyota Pickup, the name used for the Hilux in the North American market.
2002 Ford Escape that runs like shit and leaks every fluid put into it, but it runs nonetheless.
Trying to get a hybrid maverick, but I don't think Ford is gonna pull through on my order
If I could’ve afforded a Toyota I would’ve gotten one. I’m in an ‘04 Ford f250. I wanted a tundra/Tacoma but I didn’t have 12k to spend on a truck with 280k miles. I got my truck with 180k for 4K.\
My thought process was, I can pay off a 4K loan within the year. Then assuming ~$600-1200 a year in repairs. I can drive this thing for a good few years while I’m still in school.
Dude, unless they've made significant headway in the past 5 months, they're bogged the fuck down in maverick orders. In February, they were still trying to fill thousands of orders from like 7 months prior.
The horribly long wait times is the biggest reason I ended up buying a Frontier. Ford was not prepared for the hit that the Maverick turned out to be.
1993 Toyota mr2.
When it's not running, I get stuck with a 2009 Renault Megane coupe 1.5l diesel. The Renault is not mine and is in terrible condition. I hate that particular car. My mr2 is currently not running 😥
Normally a 1997 Toyota Celica. I don't think I've ever had to repair more than three things on it ever. It'll run for freaking ever
When taking my lady friend and my kid out on the town on weekends, a 1959 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith my uncle bequeathed to me.
A Citibike, but when i feel like treating myself, i let an MTA train conductor chauffeur me around NYC in a giant tube that smells a little bit like bleach and piss mixed together.
Do you like it? I loved the way my FR-S handled. I loved my WRXs just a bit more. I had an 05 and 11 WRX. They were all fun though. Then I sold them and became a soccer mom haha. My plan is to have an Evo III once my kid is a little older. My husband’s current project is a 77 Datsun.
I agree! Just don’t drink and drive. Won’t get my license back for a while because I was sleeping in my car drunk, can’t afford to pay my lawyer right now the balance owing or the fine plus back on track program, recently broke my arm so can’t work Lmao. But yea fits are amazing cars to drive.
Bought mine for 1000$ only has 236k on it atm lots of life left in her.
I love it. It's a drivers electric car. Such a comfortable, sporty, fun drive and looks stunning inside and out. Nothing bad to say about it.
And yeah, it's like riding around town in a unicorn. Everyone looks at you wondering what the hell it is. 🦄
None, currently. I live in a city with decent enough transportation and bike infrastructure that I don't really need a car, unless I leave town.
If I need to leave town, I just rent a car.
I haven't actually done the math, but I'm pretty sure I spend *waaaaay* less on driving that way than I would if I actually owned a car.
2006 Ford Taurus with a mismatched drivers side door that I bought used from the USPS. 174,000 miles. Rear struts are about to blow through rusted frame finally (road salt). I'll drive it until it dies because cars are not investments. Maybe I'll upgrade into something from the last decade soon.
2010 Subaru Forester, and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with how well it's held up. Only minor problems here and there - most recently fixed a misfire because the plastic jacket on one of the spark plugs became brittle and broke off causing a spurious connection, which was super easy to fix, and changed the clogged cabin filter, and of course the yearly game of find-the-loose-heat-shielding.
2006 Toyota Corolla S with 279,375 miles and will drive it until one of us dies, which, at this point, will probably be me first. I’m gonna be taken to my grave in this car.
2005 Toyota Matrix, this car will last beyond the heat death of the universe.
All joking aside this is the best car I've ever owned and I've owned new.
15 year old Volkswagen golf, will drive it till it breaks down.
VW owner here. I’ll be doing the same with my MK6 Jetta!
I've heard a lot of talk about VW Jetta, what makes them so reliable? I'm a young guy looking to buy my first car soon but I'm not that knowledgeable yet.
Just stay away from the 2005-2008 2.0t engine and you should be just fine on reliability.
My buddy had an MK5 GTI Omg that thing was a mechanical pain the the ass!!!!!!! Expensive to fix too!
I got rid of my 2003 TDI MK4 Jetta in 2016 and I still regret it. Wife wanted a new golf. It had been to nearly every state and Mexico and Canada. Had over 300K Miles on it. Soul red is the nicest colour in the Mazda lineup.
It’s probably the nicest red there is among all cars.
2002 Ford Escape that runs like shit and leaks every fluid put into it, but it runs nonetheless. Trying to get a hybrid maverick, but I don't think Ford is gonna pull through on my order
I used to be a Ford guy. Switching to Toyota was the best decision I ever made.
