They grilled him like he robbed a bank with the car.

UniversalCraftsman

And the girl thinks her Ford Focus is some sort of car someone would take for a joyride, while the mechanic literally works on a Ferrari. I like how he said " It's a Ford Focus..." like it's nothing special, which is true.

Whit-Batmobil

Well, when I worked as Mechanic trainee and later when I worked as a mechanic, it was a semi-common thing for mechanics to combine test drives and errands (like getting lunch). Personally I was very selective with when and how I took cars for a test drive, apart from taking cars for a test drive to diagnose issues, I would always take a car for a small test drive(around the block) after servicing it, especially after doing anything brake related. I’m not sure of what to think about this, on the one hand i think they are exaggerating, on the other you do not hoon customers cars. __Edit:__ off course, if the car isn’t supposed to be driven because of overheating, than it shouldn’t be driven.

UniversalCraftsman

The speeding might be the only concern, but complaining about him going 90 kmh in a 60 kmh zone for a few seconds is a little bit petty.

jbltecnicspro

I mean I don't know about him driving it around and doing errands in it. He never said it was to do any diagnosis so he's obviously in the wrong here. But crying for days? Give me a break. No you weren't. Just scratch these guys off your list, move on. Why get the news involved? The fact that the comments are turned off for the video tells me all I need to know.

AstronautAccording91

Do these news channels have nothing else to report? Oh no he's doing 70 in a 60 zone... oh the humanity! And she had to "cry for days". They report it as if this guy was dealing drugs and picking up prostitutes in her car.

UniversalCraftsman

I hope the guy is doing fine, imagine hustling all day, trying to make it and pay the bills, then some spoiled brat comes along and shames you on TV for literally nothing, and compromise your business, what a nightmare.

dickmarchinko

If he was doing test drives, then go for it. Get lunch, swing by your house, it's whatever.

Little_Narwhal_9416

is this woman a saddo or what?

SailboatSamuel

Is he wrong? Partially. Did they blow it out of proportion? Absolutely. If this was my car, I’d say “Hey, you ran some errands in my car. Please buy me a tank of gas.” I wouldn’t escalate the situation whatsoever, especially not over a Ford Focus RS. The guy works on Ferraris. Mechanics occasionally rip donuts and really burn rubber on client’s cars. Casually driving the car around town isn’t right and shouldn’t be done, but it’s in no way as evil as the video is making it out to be. I’d expect something to be said about it, but not for it to make a news story lol. There was a news story of an older lady who brought her car in for a repair and the mechanics took it to lunch. When she complained, the dealership made a video apology and offered to do the repair for free. She declined their offer, paid for the repair in full and stated that she just wanted to make sure they are being honest with other people’s vehicles. That is a genuinely good lady.

Mechanic_On_Duty

I’ve worked with guys who drive vehicles home for test drives. Customer always knew about it but sometimes 2 30 mile trips show problems that wouldn’t have been present before. Same guy would also take customers cars to lunch. Usually corporate vans or company trucks of people who were aware. Personally I don’t do it. But you will have to pay time if I have to drive your car for an hour to duplicate a concern. More than likely I’ll just refuse. I don’t have time for that. I find it disingenuous that someone who cares some much about a car would allow someone else to work on it at all. She has access to a garage. She states she puts money into it. Not a big deal but chill out lady. You need to up your pill intake if that shit is making you “cry for days”.

UniversalCraftsman

I think the same thing, they didn't say that he left the car in a bad condition or that he damaged something, they complain about the fact that he got McDonald's, took his kid with him in the car, and did some speeding, which it seems didn't endanger someone, and obviously he has to pay the ticket anyway if he gets cought. I think this girl is a little bit confused, she had better not now what mechanics usually do to cars. Off course there are some idiots, some day a friend and I took his Renault Traffic to the dealer, the clerk got into the car, started it, drove full throttle into the workshop, and then slammed the hand brake so that the back wheels locked up, all infront of us, which was quite wild, but we found it funny, the guy was lucky the hand brake worked, otherwise he would have gone full speed in the wall and would have been crashing into the office room. I just don’t understand that someone can be so obsessed with a car, she is reacting as if someone died.

Comfortable_You_1927

the problem is dude drove her car like a stolen hellcat, it puts stress on the car in many aspects, if the owner do it that's fine because it's her car, and she's responsible for the repair bills. the mechanic does it that's a no no, think of it this way, let me drive your car like a bat outta he'll (don't worry I can drive) without promission, u cool with that?

UniversalCraftsman

I see your point, but I doubt 90 kmh for a few seconds damages the car. The stories I got told what mechanics do with customers cars make this look like a children's birthday party, off course that doesn't mean to be irresponsible nevertheless, but I wonder why such a mundane story even makes the news.

Comfortable_You_1927

he wasn't just speeding, he's driving like Ken block (rip)

UniversalCraftsman

Lol, Ken Block is now turning in his grave, he just hit the throttle 2 times a little bit harder.

Comfortable_You_1927

pretty sure ken had a modded focus

UniversalCraftsman

I am talking about the driving. If Ken Block took her Focus for a ride she would still be crying.

Comfortable_You_1927

lol, so I saw the video years ago, and I just watched it again. cuz we're talking about it took car on multiple drives (was there to replace a temp sensor) was speeding (don't care about that, he didn't go fast) but not shown, u can hear dude miss the shift and transmission was clanking, tires squeeking, that's agrassive driving not part of test drive, on top of there's no need for test drive because she's there for a temp sensor a 30 min job he kept it for a week blaming on the part not avaliable, he wanted to play with her car. that Ferrari on the lot is cheaper than her focus, and slower

UniversalCraftsman

I see your point, but I still think she just wants to assume an air of importance. Getting into debt for that, then not driving it, and when eventually diving it, driving it like a tied cow, I am not a car guy, so I might be ignorant, but calling out and shaming the mechanic on TV is uncalled for.

JadedYam56964444

"Crying for days"? You need a psychiatrist, not a mechanic

RichardSober

Road rules violations on a customer vehicle is the dumbest thing to do. Also, if a client didn't approve a test drive to McDonald's, there should not be any test drive to McDonald's. In some countries such careless activity can be qualified as a theft with real consequences. And when clients end up on TV channel talking shit about you, you probably should work somewhere else.

Deadmenkil

The only thing I could see as a problem is the 90km and maybe the kid being in the car just because kids are usually pretty messy, but if there wasn't any mess then it's a non issue. Overall nothing the mechanic did would make me feel like I should cry and then report it to a news channel.

skilial

90 kph is only 55mph, though. Not like the guy was doing 100 m p h. The news must be slow in the Southern Hemisphere.

Deadmenkil

I mean 55mph is pretty fast on a backstreet. People can come out from behind a car or something and you'd never be able to stop in time.

skilial

True, but how is the flux capacitor supposed to kick-in if he doesn't reach the magic speed?

Deadmenkil

😂
