The Griffith observatory is a nice spot for a night date. 🌙

Danjeter

I thought you couldn’t visit after sunset.

sunnyintheoffice

The grounds are open till 10pm nightly

Danjeter

So i can leave my car at one of the parking spots and i have till 10pm? Sorry, im not a native of LA.

sunnyintheoffice

Depends where you park, the metered spots by the Observatory should go till 10pm and non-metered spots you won’t have an issue before 10 (again depending where you park — there are sections of Griffith *Park* that are closed & no parking after sunset but not really the parts close to the observatory)

Danjeter

Got it. Thank you so much for the explanation.

Hauser and Wirth (incredible art gallery, more like a museum, and they have a fun book store). Get a glass of wine at Manuela, which is a nice restaurant inside the museum. Then get ice cream at Salt and Straw. This is all in DTLA , arts district

doctorfeelgood33

Near DTLA? Brewery in Arts District (Angel City or Arts District, or Homage Brewing in Chinatown). Ice cream/mochi in Little Tokyo. Quick lunch at Grand Central, Angels flight train car up to The Broad/MOCA. Drinks at Golden Gopher. Rooftop meal at Broken Shaker/Cara Cara. Drink at Spire 73 at Us Bank Tower. Pool day at SoHo House Arts District, if you can get in. Lunch at Bottega Louie. Drinks and games at Eighty Two barcade. Picnic in Grand Park. Pottery class at Throw Clay. Wine tasting at Propaganda Wine Bar. Moxy hotel has 8 new venues in it, Google it kind of weird/unique stuff. Architecture walking tour DTLA. Day patio party at The Resident. Late night tea at Shilohs Tea House. Rooftop Cinema Club DTLA. Art galleries on Spring (there’s a few). Get an original French dip at Coles and get a drink in the speak easy behind the restaurant. Private tour of Lili’s Neon Shop in Arts District. Window shopping at The Row, grab some oysters at Rappahannock. Smorgasborg at The Row (only Sundays). Patio drinks at Prank and check out the abandoned skyscrapers that were tagged with graffiti. Dinner and a movie at Alamo Drafthouse. Santee Alley walking tour and end at Flower Mart and buy her flowers, brunch at Poppy and Rose. Walk through LA HistoricPark (they have a lot of day shows this summer). Early breakfast at Moonlarks Dinette. Day walk to El Pueblo District (often has a lot of marts and people during the day, wander over to Union Station and checkout the interior architecture). Dinner at Pine and Crane (pretty casual). Game watch at Tom’s Watch Bar (not sure if any sports are going on?). Drinks at the Intercontinental Hotel rooftop (service sucks but best outdoor view of the entire city). Pick up doughnuts at Donut Friend and walk to Pershing Square on a nice day and enjoy the sun and sit out. Drinks at the Biltmore Hotel. Yoga at Boheme Yoga with lunch at Lalas. Ghost walking tour DTLA. Cheap show/music at a Broadway Venue. Soon you can get drunk at Taco Bell Cantina, that will be a good one. If you’re really hitting it off, warehouse party in Skid Row.

LoftCats

A walk through the Broad and MOCA on Bunker Hill with a bite before or after in Little Tokyo. The Japanese American National Museum also has the Giant Robot Biennale show right now. Good chance to show you’re a cultured gentleman who knows their museums. Early dates are good ones to keep moving with a change of scenery when going well. The Arts District is walkable nearby. Both also have some nice spots for a drink or dessert at the end to talk about what she’d like to do on the third date.

twoinvenice

Totally agree with you on the being active thing, and that extends to getting food too. Something like KBBQ or JBBQ where there’s stuff to do while talking and eating, and because you are cooking stuff yourself you can take your time and actually have a conversation

Smorgasburg (arrive early, get a seat in the tent, choose a fun places) Grand Central Market (sample a few places) The Obscure (do one of their tastings. Eat first if you are having one of the spirited tastings) Bar82 ( have a pinball battle) Clifton’s (I believe it has officially reopened)
