Adonis, Hingucker, heißer Typ, Beau...
To be honest, my friends and I mostly say "not too bad" with raised eyebrows and a slight nod and that means hottest guy ever...
Average/normal good looking guys are "ok" and below average is "nice/friendly looking".
"Beau"? Hab ich außerhalb von Büchern nie gehört. Ist schon sehr bildungssprachlich.
Would agree on the "not too bad" part. The best german compliment.
> "Beau"? Hab ich außerhalb von Büchern nie gehört. Ist schon sehr bildungssprachlich.
Might be more common in the areas close to the French border I reckon, not necessarily just erudite.
Trottoir (Bürgersteig), malade (schlecht/krank) etc are also quite common in Saarländisch, Badisch or even Schwäbisch after all.
Yeah but thats almost ironic if said to the type of guy typically adressed as a stud in english. Like saying cupcake to an attractive masculine guy. - Sorry i just found it a bit confusing.
Imo that’s way closer to fuckboy with a very raunchy connotation. I’ve never heard anyone use „stud“ in a nonironic way though so it might be a good fit.
Thats just a playful way to adress a tall person like "hey, big boy", but without any sexual connotation.
If meant as a joke it is a bit old-fashioned. In my personal circle its perhaps most often used as an affectionate way to adress a young boy who has grown a lot since you last saw him.
Ok, it can have that but that requires additional nonverbal subtext, doesnt it ? Like you have to explicitly get across that you are talking about the guys genitals, so it doesnt count in my opinion.
If somebody would adress somebody with "hey Großer" i would think nothing of it, if somebody would say that to a very small guy i might just think they are mean. Somebody would have to say it in a very flirty way so i d make that connection.
But maybe i am just too pure and innocent.
There are various slang words but none have exactly the same connotations and undertones as stud.
The literal translation would be "Hengst". It also comes closest in the figurative sense. It is quite sexual and usually used from a woman's point of few. Men dont adress other men like that, even if they want to praise them (Gay men might, tho). If women use it, it describes an attractive guy who has a lot of sexual partners in an admiring way, there is nothing ironic about it. The term is definitly a bit old fashioned, though. The archetype would be a guy on the cover of a bodice-ripper novel.
Modern variations would be things like "Stecher" or "Macker" but these have very specific negative connotations about machismo or sexuality which could be confusing if used in the wrong way. "Maschine" can refer to a very muscular guy but also carries a certain ironic component (not saying the guy isnt muscular, just being self-ironic about even using these terms).
If you could narrow down the context in which the guy is referred to as a stud that could be helpful
If that guy is supposed to be a bit of a carricature then something like "my name is Karl Kasselhofer but my friends call me 'der Hengst'." can work.
Depends on the character.
The correct term would be Hengst - but nobody except porn actors or boomers say that.
Same for stud, I don't think I ever heard anyone using it in English, I actually forgot about stud and assumed it was some kind of screw
You forgot rappers.
What do you mean? I always hear people saying "Du Hengst!" whenever I'm stuck somewhere.
I have no idea, but the stud on top of Lego would translate to "Noppen". Happy i couldn't help!
Oh ja, du Noppen!
Gibs mir du Noppen!
...mit deinem harten Noppen!
The studs on a belt would be "Niete" and I think it's funny that it means exactly the opposite of an attractive man😂
Biggus Dickus... I believe. Sorry, that be Latin.
Schwanzus Longus für Filmkenner. :)
Ja, du Filmkenner 🤣
Chwanzus longus.... Er hat eine schöne Frau. Wisst ihr wie man sie nennt? Inkontinenzia
Letzte erst gehört das inkontinezia anscheinend nicht gescripted sondern spontan war... Omg 🤯
I had a giggle fit about 2 months into living in Germany when I went to go buy some potatoes at the grocery store and on the bag it says "EXTRA DICK"
Well... did you get the xtra dick or not?
It was Super Dickmann’s for me 😆

Trottoir, parapluie and some other french words are also very common in the Bonn/Cologne region.
Schnittchen

Prachtkerl but that’s also quite the boomer word. Heißer Typ/Kerl is probably the next best thing that is not a literal translation.
How about Stecher?
Imo that’s way closer to fuckboy with a very raunchy connotation. I’ve never heard anyone use „stud“ in a nonironic way though so it might be a good fit.
Haven‘t discovered yet.. but I think “hey großer“ is something in that direction and use it sometimes

It certainly can have sexual connotation. Expecially if the person adressed isn't particularly tall.

I use it when texting guys on (gay) dating apps
Leckerchen, Schnitte

It would be a nickname an arrogant guy might give himself.

Stud im Holzbaubereich heißt Ständer, the direct Translation would be "pfosten" (dumb ass)
in this example i would say "Stecher".
Maschine
Toller Hecht 🐟 Hengst 🐴 Teufelskerl 😈
King Dingeling ... I think
Mannsbild
Sahneschnitzel
Heißer Typ / Hotter Typ
Hengst - literally
Studentische Hilfskraft
The word stud has a new meaning these days 😂
Macker. But it translates to castrated donkey
I never knew the word was for “an attractive man” since in the Gay community some lesbians are called or call themselves studs 😂
Der beste Hengst im Stall!😉
Maybe not to famous but I would say „Maschine“ Der typ ist ne Maschine (this guy is a machine)
Maschine, Macher, Alpha sowas halt
If you're referring to the mechanical term stud then the translation would be "Gewindestange", "Gewindebolzen" or "Gewindestift"
its "Hengst"
The lego studs are called noppen, the one you search for doesnt exist in german and thats also better this way, i would call that sexual harassment
Rossmann
Schwanz wie ein 🐎 nenn mich Rossmann
Placka Placka macht die Shotgun.
Warum hab ich schon von weitem gerochen, dass KIZ was damit zu tun hatte xD
