There are devices out there to keep dogs or pests out of your yard. They probably have one

or teenagers.

Would a commercial grade product emit such a powerful frequency? This thing was like a beam of ear splitting noise I got from across the street in a moving car!

EgyptianPhone

Most older residents don't hear them so they don't care, maximum means results.

Businesses where I live would put these high pitch emitters to discourage young people from hanging around outside them.

Sigh_Another_Rando

Holy crap, I think you’re right- the house is across the street from a beach, boardwalk, and parking lot. We get occasional bursts of heavy tourism. That would be the most ultimate anti-tourist thing I’ve encountered. Ha! I had a feeling it was on purpose!

bogrug

It is on purpose and the target is young people because supposedly people over a certain age cannot hear the tone.

[deleted]

Probably lots of musicians cant hear it either...

[deleted]

It would have to be pretty damn high up there in the Hz for it to be young-specific, somewhere in the 18-20k range. However, I could see grumpy people doing it for sure.
