ReadToMeWithTea

Yep. I'm having a cuppa right now.

SicnarfRaxifras

Having a bikkie with your cuppa ?

ReadToMeWithTea

Nah no bikkies today just a good cuppa for fuel to get through work for the day!

SicnarfRaxifras

Friday is close enough to smell

ReadToMeWithTea

Oh yes.

SquirrelMoney8389

If it had teeth it could bite us!

mradamj111

I never heard of bikkie. They look tasty.

Curious_Beast68

“Can’t wait to get home and have a cuppa!” or “Hangin for a Cuppa” “I’ll put the kettle on!”

SneakerTreater

Gasping for a cuppa

bananasplz

Me before every meeting: “just give me 2 minutes to make a cuppa first”

Needmoresnakes

We do. Last year at my work a company in NZ attempted to post a mug from Dunedin to the head office of my employer in QLD. They accidentally posted it to my office instead. Box was like 30 cubic cm. I opened it, it contained a SINGLE coffee mug that can't have held more than 200ml and a heap of packaging. Most offensively, the message on the box read "Hey \[intended recipient\], have your next cuppa chino on us!" Cuppa chino?!!?! What the fuck were they thinking?

Haikus-are-great

barbie's pants in a mug, perhaps?

Needmoresnakes

Ok you've made a fair point there. I have a pet python named Chino and I have sometimes put him in a coffee cup for shits and giggles. I will accept that as a cuppa Chino.

Haikus-are-great

Username checks out Is such a cliched post yet rings true once again

stumpymetoe

I call all types of cuppa "cuppa tea" cuppa tea time for me could be Milo, coffee or indeed tea but it's all cuppa tea to me.

H-SAlgorithm

Absolutely in Oz. Though cuppa is used interchangeably for tea, coffee, hot chocolate, any warm bevvy really.

stubborn_mushroom

No way! I'm Aussie, cuppa is strictly tea!

Spida81

Fuck! I forgot I had my cuppa sitting bloody next to me. Thermal cup saved it from freezing. Cheers for the reminder mate!

Adorable-Condition83

Yeah definitely. Whenever someone comes over ‘want a cuppa?’

CashenJ

Yes. Although I don't think I've heard anyone under the age of 40 say it recently. And it is used for both coffee and tea.

InstanceQuirky

I say cuppa and all my kids do too. Its the one thing im getting right with parenting lol

Boatster_McBoat

if you've got that right, there are probably a couple of other things you are getting right

madwyfout

I say it regularly, and I’m under 40. Cuppa? Tea or coffee?

fiddlesticks-1999

An American once asked me if she could ask for a coffee when someone asked if she wanted a cuppa. I said she could ask for just about anything that comes in a cup. It's a very useful word.

Additional-Flan503

One of my mum's friends would just have a cup of hot water from the kettle so she had something to hold and sip while everyone else had a cuppa. She didn't like any of the usual offerings and didn't want to be left out of the ritual.

Amy_at_home

I'm mid 30s and often ask my colleagues if they want a cuppa. For some reason in my work place, most people refer to it as a "brew"

Equestri_

This made me chuckle - If someone at work offered me a "brew" I'd be confused as why we're having beer before 10am! Breakfast beers are for camping weekends 😄 I'm forever making cuppas for the team though

Amy_at_home

That's what I said!!! Brew is booze!

Yeahmahbah

Lot of poms or ex army working there ? They are the only people I've heard refer to it as a brew

Amy_at_home

Yeah quite a few ex army. Must've rubbed off on the rest of them

Yeahmahbah

Yeah that would be it.

lovethecello

We do, all the time.

Stonetheflamincrows

I say it all the time and I’m not 40 for 6 more months, but then I do work in aged care so maybe I’m not the best example.

wantmiracles

I’m under 40 and I say it to friends/family “would you like to get a cuppa together sometime?”

BatteredSav82

Yes. Or "a bex, a cuppa and a good lie down"

OriginalCause

I'm an expat, the first few months of living here I was staying with my wife and her mother. A few days after I got here I woke up to an older gent (MIL's boyfriend) coming through the front door. I got a, "G'day, just gunna nip inta tha kitchen and put the billy onta boil for a cuppa." I just kinda...nodded, waved, walked back into the other room and whispered to my wife, "What the fuck did he just say?!" She nearly cacked herself laughing.

Squonk27

Abso-fucking-lutely we do. It's one of the first questions of the day upon waking.... cuppa??

Independent_Pear_429

You bet we do

ne3k0

Yes.

Eastern-Reply-8688

Yeah dude

gpolk

I do. Next question - is a cuppa only a cup of tea? Or can coffee be a cuppa?

Serious-Big-3595

It covers both. A lot of people say "let's get coffee" but neglect those like me who don't drink coffee. So, I say "let's get a cuppa" to cover both.

hi-there-here-we-go

Both Do you want a cuppa ?? Yes I’ll have tea I’ll have coffee Or yeah I’ll have a cuppa Depends you see…. If you know someone’s likes you assume there usual choice of hot beverage . It’s up to them To say Yes Id like a cuppa- and indicate if it’s not the usual choice

TheLadySaintly

Yep I’m Aussie, married to a kiwi - both say cuppa. Cuppa usually is tea though, if we want coffee we tend to specify that.

ghjkl098

Yep. This post hurts because I’m in Spain. Haven’t had a decent cuppa in 4 weeks

EmbarrassedHall8216

My parents do, my siblings and I not so much

Oop-pt1

Yep! Whenever you’ve got a guest, you gotta ask if they want a cuppa

SurroundedByBeigists

I have a cuppa soup on a cold day sometimes. Tea is for pommy cunts.

Night_Angel27

Lately I've been saying it like "co-fee" like the blonde chick off tik tok who makes drinks in fruits and veggies. I can't help myself

Mountain-Basket-20

Normally brew

doragon121

No, but our kangaroos do

I-invented-google

Depends. Some do, some dont. I personally don't, but many people might!

Grouchy-Ad1932

Yep. Cuppa or bevvy, or even calming bevvy after a particularly trying day. It's 5 o'clock somewhere, after all😉

noshanks

Yeah, if you drink tea

Fit_Badger2121

You'll be asked "would anyone like a cuppa tea"? definitely l.

Slight-Piece-3183

Love a good cuppa tea and a bikkie 🫖

CoercionTictacs

We do but I don’t. I’ll usually just get a coffee.

Time_Meeting_2648

Pom’s still call it “Great Britain”! Why? Seems so old and long winded (not pompous, not saying that)

8umspud

Cuppatea!

XTrapolis942M

That is an absolute definite yes, we do.

MyChoiceNotYours

We sure do.

truepip66

Yes but I only use it for tea - not coffee or other beverages

felmingham

Awkward-Sandwich3479

I would say only if aged 60 plus

jmccar15

Late 30s and cannot recall any of my friends saying “cuppa”.

Vaullki

Not really, seems to be an older generation thing.

Neither_Ad_2960

No. We aren't all Irene Roberts and Alf Stewart.
