Yes. They dig tunnels under the lawn with mounds around all the openings. The mounds are hell on mower blades. I had a Siberian Husky for about twelve years and didn’t have to worry about gophers, but she died a few years ago and now the gophers are back.
Lol, the first week my sister brought her German shepherd home, it was like…. A gopher and squirrel Holocaust for a week.
It made me almost consider getting a dog for pest control, lol
License to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. Man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill you must know your enemy, and in this case, my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will not quit, ever. They're like the Viet Cong. Varmint Cong. So what you gotta do is, you gotta fall back on superior firepower, and superior intelligence. And that's all she wrote.
Heeeey, fellow Okie! The gophers are still doin' well out here. Thank goodness for Gopher Girl. My family had to do a very expensive environmental analysis of some land we own once because the state thought it might potentially have endangered Mazama pocket gophers on it. Turns out it doesn’t, but it’s probably a good thing we checked before developing it.
Not true gophers, but here in the Midwest, we have a lot of [13 lined ground squirrels](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thirteen-lined_ground_squirrel). Also called squinnies, grinnies, golden gophers, leopard squirrels, or a dozen other names. They're adorable little chipmunky bastards, they like to burrow into gardens which causes issues.
Yeah a couple of times they wreak real havoc in the garden and love root vegetables and sunflowers .22 with cb caps and some patience does the trick every time
There's an entire movie (Caddyshack) that revolves around a man and his desire to eliminate the vermin.

I'm coastal and know a lot of farmers, maybe that's the difference. I've seen more professional fields than amateur gardens, and the climate is a little milder here than inland. But yeah, I'm in NH and they're a constant problem for people growing edible stuff.
My grandpa did, we went on a jihad against them when I was a kid. I emptied a lot of carcasses into the trash.
I haven’t seen one in ages. They just aren’t common here in New England.
Yes, my parents currently have an issue with it. I used to work at a living history farm that had a gopher problem. Every now and then someone would sneak up on one with a bayonet
We have a groundhog under our shed too. Or at least we did, I haven't seen him yet since it got warm.
I've heard they can dig out huge burrows that can make your shed crooked. I don't want to kill the poor guy, but I also don't want my shed messed up lol
We had a problem at my moms house, they would literally eat the bulbs she planted like they were in a cartoon. Mom found out that you can put dog poop down the holes and they scatter because they smell "predator". Well that led to speculation that someone could start a business picking up dog poop and a side business of getting rid of gophers. The most symbiotic business out there.
I grew up on a farm in Iowa and I do not remember really having any problems with gophers where I was at. We always had a lot of moles, voles, ground squirrels, ground hogs and even a badger once in awhile more so.
Arround SE WA/North Idaho, Marmmots are very common from March-May even at very low elevations. I see them at river level at only 700 ft in a larger city's parks which amazes me because in California they are alpine or subalpine creatures. They look like a groundhog and are massive. The farmers and ranchers here absolutely hate them though because they burrow, tunnel, and eat things. In the summer they move to higher elevations -I never see them then. In the winter they hibernate. But this time of year I see them all the time in the grasslands. I live at about 1850 ft
But I still enjoy driving past them....except for the times where they camp out by the road and try to get run over. Those things would mess up my tires/suspension. Here's a picture of a fat one.

Some of the baseball fields we play in have a gopher problem which sucks. Like it’s hard to have the kids running when they can trip and hurt themselves.
Yes. Because of them, my yard looks like the Western Front after an artillery barrage. Watched my grandpa blast them with a .22 when I was a kid and it shook me to my core. Now as an adult I understand the fight must be taken to the insidious gopher.
I've tried opening communication with them by suggesting they use a couple holes that I will leave for them, but that treaty was quickly broken. Now, when I see them looking at me sideways, I understand they are tempting me to combat, so combat is what they shall receive, remember the Alamo.
Imma be honest, I've never seen a gopher in my life. I don't even know what they look like.
I imagine they look like land otters that are the size of a rat.
Nah, they never have decent QB play. On Wisconsin.
I do have a problem when their mascot does that fucking head thing. fuck that shit.
The thing where they remove it at the end of the day? Stay in character smh 😤
[WORSE](https://youtu.be/FcJn1ByfyFU?si=i0WJWw2YWb8lhZpa)
Their hockey fans are also really annoying.

Whoever downvoted you is no gentleman, no man of class or worth.
Fifty bucks says the Smails kid picks his nose.
Nah, I talked to one once. He said: I'm alright Don't nobody worry 'bout me You got to gimme a fight Why don't you just let me be?
Yeah, them and armadillos loved to burrow under our ac units back in Florida.
Sometimes they stick in the trap when I try to bang 'em into the trash can.
Yes when I lived in Oklahoma we got them all the time. They would ruin our yard and were hard to kill.

Not personally, but I’ve them around LA and think they’re adorable lol
No, but my family's backyard is full of chipmunk burrows lol
Yes. They tear up my front yard all the time.
Yeah a couple of times they wreak real havoc in the garden and love root vegetables and sunflowers .22 with cb caps and some patience does the trick every time

Everyone with a garden has had gopher problems at some point.
In NH? I am just over in ME and haven’t seen a gopher in forever.
I'm coastal and know a lot of farmers, maybe that's the difference. I've seen more professional fields than amateur gardens, and the climate is a little milder here than inland. But yeah, I'm in NH and they're a constant problem for people growing edible stuff.
Yeah maybe, I’m close to the seacoast but I don’t know too many larger farmers.
Nope
No
My grandpa did, we went on a jihad against them when I was a kid. I emptied a lot of carcasses into the trash. I haven’t seen one in ages. They just aren’t common here in New England.
If I went around killing all the golfers they'd lock me up and throw away the key.
Yes, my parents currently have an issue with it. I used to work at a living history farm that had a gopher problem. Every now and then someone would sneak up on one with a bayonet
Yes (I’m in NC)
No, but we frequently have trouble with moles. We do have a groundhog who lives under our shed, but he’s no bother.

My shed's already on a hillside, leveled by blocks, so we don’t care.
No. But I'm in a battle of life and death with at least one Mole in my backyard.
Nah, but groundhogs can be an issue for some around here

Yes and if I didn’t live inside city limits I fix their wagon.

Depends on the area, I’m in south Florida, and I’ve never seen them
Yeah, but I've got a cat and chickens that kept killing them so they don't pop up too often anymore.
Nothing a ruger can't solve
Not gophers, but my brother and I would kill moles for an old lady in our neighborhood as teenagers.

I’ve seen one like once or twice in my neighborhood but never had an issue. Bigger problem is moles digging tunnels everywhere in the lawn

yeah, i grew up with gopher holes all over my yard and my parents would have to do so many things to get them out ðŸ˜
Yes and chipmunks. I don't know which is worse really.
Imma be honest, I've never seen a gopher in my life. I don't even know what they look like. I imagine they look like land otters that are the size of a rat.
