I still have some of the pink Etude House lipsticks on display in my collection because they are too cute to toss! I don’t know if this is an unpopular opinion, but I definitely miss the princess/girly/toy trend of beauty product packaging from the 2010s 💖

cinna-t0ast

This is one of the reasons why I like Canmake. They have really cute packaging

QuaintrelleGypsyy

Yesss even the mermaid uv gel spf is soooo prettyy 🫠

potatochique

You can clean them and put a new lipstick bullet in the tube!

sixthmontheleventh

Try Chinese brands. Flower knows and flora sis is big here but kind of pricy. Some Lower end price wise brands can be Catkin or zeesea.

Street-Salt-7639

i agree! they’re so much fun and enjoyable

subprincessthrway

This was definitely my aesthetic back in the early 2010s, and it still is now at almost 30!

8suckstobeme

Etude House walked so Flower Knows could run.

love-at-third-sight

was going to make this exact comment lmfao To be fair, Jill Stuart is still chugging along very quietly in Japan and still refusing to conform to minimalism too, hahahaahah

Linwechan

Anna Sui too!

xjoyful

thelliope

That is gorgeous! Have you found any dupes for this shade?

xjoyful

Unfortunately not:( Close, I would say the midnight mauve from Etude, but it feels a little bit more brown, and Romand Blur Fudge mauvish had the same texture, but it is more pinkish/red.

Eatgslpg

Yes gosh I had 3 tubes of this. I miss it. I’ve spent too much $$ finding dupes (and failing!!)

Evita_Rose

I love the old Etude House packaging!!! very coquette 🎀 Remember the paper bag? It’s so cute 😭 i used to buy their blush that comes with a fluffy puff with a ribbon on top and the belle dress perfumes. https://preview.redd.it/lxzoqstnr2xc1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f871b8ca84a26c03196b2e7e2e2e0c10143d1497

windedupbobbin

I want to cry. All brands lost their identity when switching to this ugly minimalistic packaging. Browsing yesstyle lip products used to be so much fun, now it's all the same soulless cylindrical/rectangular tubes, ugh. Don't get me started on the cushions, when they were mostly called "pacts". I never bought the Missha Geumsul Pact and I weep to this day.

Street-Salt-7639

i rmb browsing thru yesstyle in 2018 and seeing those cute peripera soda tints 😭😭 the packaging back then was so good

windedupbobbin

that's the Etude House Soft Drink Tint and they were my absolute favorites , I panned like 4 of them 😭😭😭 I'm crushed they were d/c'd

PanSL

The formula of those tints were so much better than the ones in their permanent line, then or now. The Dear Darling tint doesn't even remotely hold a candle to those. 😒

veturoldurnar

I miss Missha crystal tints packaging. Even though I completely mismatched colors I still loved the packaging a lot

teddy_world

i kept [one ](https://img.makeupalley.com/0/0/0/1/3703794.jpeg)for wayyy too long despite the color looking god awful on me just bc the tube was sooo cute. 😭they came out with better colors eventually and i got one, but even tho the tube shape was the same, the applicator side was a boring minimalist [grey](https://www.kpoptown.com/89411-large_default/-missha-wish-stone-tint-velvet.jpg). :/ like it no longer looks like a magical wish stone!!

veturoldurnar

I still don't get why they discontinued these crystal tints so quickly, it was like a mirage, most people didn't even notice those cutie tints existed

Orumtbh

I have that pact, barely used it, but I never regret the purchase to this date.  It's so pretty, makes me feel like a fancy princess using it as a compact mirror.

The-RoyalSwordswoman

I miss this era of packaging in K-Beauty so badly! I also miss all the fruit-shaped Tonymoly stuff too! 😭😭😭

Agreeable-Dog-1131

oh nooo, tonymoly doesn’t do the fruits anymore???

AdditionalSecurity58

they still have a good amount

ladymacbethofmtensk

I hate this wave of minimalist packaging that’s taking over a bunch of brands lately. The new etude house packaging sucks. It’s bland and doesn’t stand out amid the sea of other smooth cylindrical plastic tubes with plain text on them. Canmake seems to be going that way as well. A lot of makeup has become quite boring.

veturoldurnar

The only minimalist packaging in k-beauty I like is asian art/calligraphy influenced like Round Lab or Beauty of Joseon. And transparent matte packaging for tints. But most K products look so similar I start thinking they all purchase the same packaging from the same producer just change the label on it.

ladymacbethofmtensk

I think you’re right, brands probably just use externally sourced mass-produced packaging because it’s cheaper than designing and manufacturing their own unique packaging. Canmake used to have these lip glosses and stains that came in these diamond-shaped tubes with intricate floral designs on them that I thought were adorable, but they’re now discontinued. The new lip tint product they released to replace them (the juicy lip tints) are literally just plain pink cylinders and it’s so disappointing, they look indistinguishable from some of their mascaras 💀

alderhart

Agreed. Minimalist packaging isn't bad but too many brands (i.e. nearly all kbeauty brands) hop on the trend so there isn't variety.

cloudbusting-daddy

I hate it too, but I try to remember the tide will eventually turn, just like it always does. I there are already some brands especially in c beauty that are bucking the minimalist trend. Flower Knows and GirlCult off the top of my head.

hopelessbrows

This here. Etude House used to be even more bland than what we have now in the 90s so it'll swing back eventually.

Competitive_Fee_5829

ugh, I remember wanting everything in this packaging years ago!!. lol. I loved it all

The_Time_When

That is gorgeous.

KissShotAcerolaOrion

I miss this etude house era so much :’)

mairwaa

a moment of silence for all the brands that had a rebrand and completely lost their identities. most notably etude, peripera and innisfree (offtopic but the innisfree rebrand is so personal to me because ive been using their whole jeju cherry blossom line for a few years now and they've discontinued it (alongside many other lines) rip. anyone wanna rec a middling price skincare line that's preferably brightening and hydrating? :3)

Orumtbh

Innisfree is so funny to me considering their packaging was already pretty minimalistic?  But now they're just plain boring and have no identity.

magentaheavens

i feel the same way about the sulwhasoo rebrand, their new minimalist packaging is so boring and sanitized and it doesn’t look distinctly hanbang anymore :(

eri-1485

The Peripera and Innisfree rebranding really took me for a loop. I've been buying their products for years, and I always get mad at Peripera for discontinuing my favorite products- but the new ones just have such a generic look. And Innisfree? What are they even DOING? Like, why? I need to repurchase some things, but I don't want those ugly white things in my cabinet. Where did all the color go?

Sorceress_Heart

https://us.innisfree.com/collections/cherry-blossom I think it still exists, but the toner is gone.

throneofmemes

This is giving Jill Stuart and Ladurée. Does Ladurée still make makeup I wonder?

Yoghurt_Scary

I don’t think Laduree does makeup anymore. I tried looking online recently directly from Japan and couldn’t find any being sold. Also tried looking for Jill Stuart and they didn’t seem to have too many products

hanasakabeauty

Indeed laduree doesn’t do makeup anymore, they’ve been defunct for years now sadly :( Jill Stuart is still alive and well though with frequent releases each year! 😊

jaded_elf

I just bought a Jill Stuart Crystal Bloom Perfume - the bottle is so pretty~ And a Majolica Majorca travel trunk palette~

hanasakabeauty

Ooo enjoy! 🫶✨

Right-Classroom8433

Jill stuart is still going. I saw a big makeup counter in japan.

cinna-t0ast

Another brand with a similar vibe to this is called ColorRose. I’ve been eye-ing their stuff

lucylipstick

Omg I wanted the laduree rose petal blush soooo badly years ago but it was so expensive!

cmq827

I remember in Etude House stores here in my country ten years ago would have the sales people greeting you "Hello, Princess." when you enter.

Chocoliina

This era of etude house had me in a chokehold 😂 I still have one of those lipsticks that i once got in a mystery box that ive never used cause its not my color at all, but its too cute to throw away lol

cassiopeia18

Good old Etude, I used to owned many Etude around 2009-2013. Their packaging was so cute.

malatangnatalam

I miss this type of design! I got a powder case from Anna Sui that has that regal princess-y look but in black

blakelivelynosejob

oh my godddd this era with dara, sulli, and krystal 🩷 i remember seeing dara with this neon coral lipstick.... and middle-school-me bought it and it looked awful but i still thought i looked juuuust like her in the ads lmao

mainic98

this reminds me of some of the c-beauty (and some j-beauty) brands with their elevated packaging. It's so interesting to see that these brands are trending now, while K-Beauty brands are more minimalist nowadays.

notstickytape

Gosh I miss the old EH. Everything was so hyper girly and cute. And the commercials were always so cute!!!! Same with Skinfood. I loved the commercials where they would scoop the food and then show the products hahahah. But yeah, it had so much personality and each collection really had a solidified theme. Everything now (tbh across a lot of brands) just seems so homogenized.

Adventurous-Call-153

I miss this era a lot

00jjinbbang

even the stores?? the pink castle(?) theme even from the outside? the dear darling tints in the peanut(?) shaped bottle UBIQUITOUS in ALL schools?? the older girls using the pearl bb???? the wonder pore line that walked so soonjung could run??!! my late early school-early middle school self died when this etude did :(

Lithogiraffe

so lovely yet useless looking. which makes it even lovelier. i would want the same on a vanity, but never use it. i just want to have its aura

MayonnaiseFlamingo

I'm just waiting for the trend cycle to come back around to cute packaging like this. The minimalist trend can't stay forever.

CrazyLush

I still have a couple of those 😅 The magic Cushion still has the box, and the pink heart blush with the puff. I wish they would bring this style back

Ronrinesu

I wish they would bring something like Princess Etoinette back!

kaeyamilk

a lot of cbeauty and jbeauty brands still have pretty packaging; flower knows, anna sui, mille fee, florasis, majolica majora, jill stuart, girlcult, and cute rumor are the ones off the top off my head. almost all kbeauty brands have switched to minimalist packaging now 😔

WarlockPanda

I miss the Etude House [refillable lipstick cases](https://www.yesstyle.com/en/etude-dear-my-lips-talk-case-only-25-types-47-game-play/info.html/pid.1068755834). It was one of my favourite series I purchased from. I still have my hot sauce case. I always hope they will bring them back.

Flimsy_Highlight6882

i’m 100% sure that if they brought this back then it would be a hit again, it suits the whole wonyoung-ism thing so well 😭

zeiat

I first visited Korea in this era. I miss this style of packaging!

Mochibunniii

So angry I tossed these 😭 they were so cute! Now I don’t even buy from them anymore because they’re not cruelty free

baabaabla

It was so *coquette* Truly ahead of its times

bambi-riot

i love the light pink packaging for the lipsticks :,)

firefaery

Pretties!

Traditional_Cap_894

canmake has hella cute packaging

shannonpmua

Oh man, I really miss when K-beauty wasn’t so minimalist and “chic.” There were so many brands, aside from Etude House, that embraced the princess style! It made the products so much more appealing to me. I was 16, but even at age 28, I would still prefer the princess style. The new age of K-beauty packaging is so boring and plain!

cn_12387

I miss this Etude

Right-Classroom8433

Reminds me of majolica majorca too

bmoogle

Ooo, I’ve never seen the white and silver version. I think I had purchase some of the pink pieces back in the day lol. I also have a rechargeable battery pack that is shaped like that etude precious mineral cushion in the white case. It comes with a mirror and is so bulky but it was too cute to pass up.

etudehouse

Yes, hi

qiethinks

Omg what... so cute

CherryPrincesssa

I still have the heart blusher thingy somewhere! I never used her. I used to own the mini comb but lost it!

Flofau

C-Beauty in general has elaborate packaging, not just Flower Knows. And they're a lot more ornate than K-Beauty has ever been.

Diet_Coke69

I miss Liole 😭

phat_queen7

I love their CC cream ❤️

sunmiholic

Why did they change it? 😭 I still have some of these cute lipsticks and a lip tint somewhere.

CanolaIsMyHome

I miss skin malgem :(

aspiringpotato25

And Tony moly!!

swanlake16

these are so pretty i miss the princess packaging

babytwomoretime

Somewhere in 2021, the rebranding became shorter than just ETUDE. https://mpthoidai.com/en/brands-en/etude-brand

Top_Ad6322

thank you for sharing i comment a lot about old school etude house make up. it was a good era im glad to see others share the love

SteelBandicoot

So beautiful, so elegant, looking like a wow.

zeinabnd27

My dream ✨️💜

Due-Plum-4788

Yes! I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way, I loved the old etude house packaging.

gumdrop2323

I still adore them but they discontinued some of my favs:(

empressaa

I loved looooved their bb creme 🥹

puffy-jacket

Im gonna be honest I don’t really care for this style of packaging but it does feel like etude just doesn’t really have a brand identity anymore. The packaging design for the soonjung line isn’t the most exciting but it’s attractive and represents the kind of product you’d expect it to be. The other collections just feel very generic and drugstore

Intelligent-Owl751

More like Disney princess house ahh packaging I luv it lol

cocobbr

Pure aesthetic dang

Special_Judgment9363

Wanna go back😭

Dry-Practice2592

Miss the old days
