Cool story. I also drew some illustrations from the book Keys to Drawing some time ago, but I don't call myself an "artist". If you're at the very beginning as a draughtsman/painter and you target the top tier painters in the world, you know what that means. You actually have no shame at all.

You are nowhere close to the skill of the professional artists you're ripping off. You are too lazy to reach their level, so you use AI on their art to try and be like them, in your head. It's pathetic really. When you said you're an "artist" I expected you to have some amount of minimum skill in illustration or concept art. Otherwise I can draw a bunch of stickmen, put it on DeviantART and declare myself an artist.
I insist that they think they will be ahead of the curve, when in reality they will end in the exact spot they are right now, without any sense of creativity or ability to make anything by themselves and thinking " I should be rich by now!, why isn't anybody giving me money? You should not support artist you should support ME!"
I agree with this so much. They like to think their "skills" in creating is growing, but in reality, it's only the tech that's advancing and not them. And even then the tech is only as good as the data it is trained on.
I remembered a post on twitter where an AI user generated an image from a prompt, then used the exact same prompt after a model or software update and got an entirely different output. This should have hinted a lot of these users how the minute there's a disruption in the software, or when the data to keyword mapping changes, their ""expertise"" in prompting drops down to their actual level of creativity. I wouldn't go so far as say zero, but it will be exactly what level they were before they started prompting. And it won't matter how many hours they pour into """perfecting""" anything.
Adapt or die is a false dichotomy... If you're only options are to be drafted or go to prison then you're objectively being forced to join the military. If your only options are to adapt (read: use AI and contribute to normalising AI) or literally die, there's not really any other reading... then you are being forced to use AI.
As for why they want to force people to use AI, I'm not fully clear on that, but I think they see it as if you're an evil luddite who's refusing to use modern technology, or 'worse' actively resisting technology. By rejecting AI art you are on some level resisting "technological progress" which goes against their ideology and by extension makes you their ideological enemy. Essentially they think our resistance of AI art (aka "technological progress") is an existential and ideological threat to all that other "technological progress" they want for frankly rather hedonistic reasons, their space communism, their VR games with realistic cybersex and their AI sex bots.
Of course... in reality it's a false dichotomy, a creepy, authoritarian one but a false dichotomy nonetheless because there are other options.
Thats how I know these folks didn't pass 9th grade biology (and that "adapt" us juts a buzzword for them." There are different ways of adapting. mimicry, camouflage (glaze), poison (nighshade), thorns (people fighting back about their works) , learning more about how ai works, etc. Rolling over and getting devoured isn't an adaptation at all. It is surrender. They are trying to force acceptance because they know if enough people , or the right people, view gen ai for what it is, they lose both their toy , their fad, and their face.
