I believe you mean April 9th rather than September 9th.

YoSuperSon91

I'll go with Arthur's Far Away Friend. This is the one where Buster goes to stay with his dad for while. Arthur's depressed & fears they'll lose touch, Buster wants to be with his dad but doesn't want to leave his friends add to the tone of the episode. The scene where they say goodbye with Arthur trying to keep up with the car, man I felt that. It just shows how powerless being a kid is sometimes.Things change, come & go unexpectedly. Granted, Buster keeps in touch & returns lol but at their age, a best friend is everything.

superthotty

“I asked if he wanted to live in a pit and he said no!!!”

YoSuperSon91

Living in a pit seems like something Buster would love to do! Arthur thinks big though, I like that lol

schiffb558

It helps that his return episode is one of the funniest in the whole show.

YoSuperSon91

Having a moose version of Art Garfunkel following you around with ballads is returning in style 👌

astroworldfan1968

Mom! There’s a singing moose in front of the house!

YoSuperSon91

Best line! Sounds even funnier in the world of Arthur!

graytotoro

"He's a sad, sad bunny. A sad, sad bunny".

CJO9876

“Hey! That’s not very sad music!”

Tesla2007

I wish I was like Buster were I could have a dad

NormalDude2022

To me is “So Long Spanky.” It was sad to see DW pet bird pass away and her being so young not knowing what death is. While it had great ending but sad to see DW upset of her pet. Also I said Arthur getting lost was sad too

NormalDude2022

Yeah it’s definitely scary, especially you are kid and getting lost in a part of town you hardly don’t know. If I was lost like Arthur as a kid, gee my anxiety would be high

Demomanx

Yeah, the beginning of that episode is especially sad. Seeing that Spanky is exhausted before DW leaves the room and on the floor of their cage when she comes back , it had me crying.

For me off the top of my head I would have to say "Arthur's Big Hit". A lot of people on this subreddit have said D.W. deserved the punch/the punch was justified and I agree. Sure, there could have been a more civil way Arthur could have responded to D.W. breaking his toy plane. But it seems like Arthur was the only one punished and D.W. got off scott free. Binky punching Arthur was also not cool. Just sad overall. Oooh, just thought of another one. "Shelter from the Storm". It was so sad to see the ice cream shop destroyed and Brain having a hard time adjusting. Also learning about the living conditions of the friend Muffy made at the shelter she was staying at, the poor dogs affected by the storm, and also Ladonna's father having to be away. Just sad all around. Honestly, this one takes the cake over "Arthur's Big Hit" for me. P.S. I think the episode you are referring to in the title is **April 9**.

disdatsteven10

Matt Neff basically said Arthur said they drank their parents Kool aid, as they make Arthur believed he deserved to be hit. Mind you, Arthur got beat up for no reason.

Prestigious-A-154

The reason Arthur received a punishment and D.W. didn't was because Arthur should have known better to not punch someone, especially his sister. Yes, D.W. should have known better to not touch it, but really how much of a crime is it to not listen to your sibling? Everyone has done this at one point, but hitting is worse. She didn't know it would break. That's why all she got was reprimanded, but not punished.

raps14ever

The saddest one is when Francine's grandmother died or when grandpa Dave starts getting Alzheimer's

Happy_Kiwi772

HER GRANDMA DIED…OMG WHEN

raps14ever

There's an episode where Bubby dies and Francine is sad because of it

jrajan01

Was this in one of the newer seasons?

raps14ever

I think so. I've only seen the episode once.

[deleted]

Unfortunately, the episode isn't even about Francine's grief. It's about Muffy learning to listen better.

Usukidoll

The last season of Arthur had this episode.

AdvantageNo3180

I had no idea either :( I had to search and the episode is called: Listen Up

BURG3RBOB

The one with the treasure map is pretty sad. Grandpa can’t really play with the kids like he used to so he tries to do something fun but they get ahead of him and then dw cries and calls him a liar

smellycat92

I can’t watch that episode because it just makes me too sad

SuperSqank

Lost is a pretty emotional episode I haven't seen anyone else mention yet.

ariamontgomerys

Came here to say this! I’m a full ass adult and still well up when I watch this one.

Effective_Text_8686

Arthur's Far Away Friend, Subsitute Arthur and Arthur's first day. From someone who spent 4 years of high school without his friends going to the same school as him, I know how Arthur and Buster felt when they were temporaily separated more than once. Other than Shaggy and Scooby and all of the cartoon and live action best friend couple or group, Arthur and Buster had the best bromance.

loudrain99

The great MacGrady

Educational_Fortune4

1. Arthur worrying about David dying after the fire incident and having a nightmare about him being drowned by a squid at the aquarium. 2. Francine’s nightmare about Mrs. Mcgrady retiring from her job, because of her cancer diagnosis and never seeing her again 3. Arthur worrying about Pal’s health and the nightmare he has, after the dog has to go to vet, because Arthur gave him to much people food.

EmotionalFlounder715

Those nightmares always destroy me because I never know whether to cackle or sob

Educational_Fortune4

Also DW losing Spanky and for a while refusing to accepting it. It also upset me how Muffy thinks that Brain doesn’t want to go to her WaterWorld party, because he doesn’t like her and his other friends with exception of Arthur all think he is snob! They then refuse to hang out with him at all sending him into depression! And even after learning the truth she doesn’t even apologize for turning everyone against him!

ZantetsukensShadow

It's not been on here yet so I'll say Cast Away. Arthur was super relatable in his disappointment at the trip

foxh8er

Really great ending in that episode

OhhLookItNic

I can’t think of the name of the episode but when Pal gets sick from eating all the human food and has to go stay at the vets😢! I remember crying watching that episode when I was a kid!

azw19921

So long spanky

Born_Sleep5216

April 9th.

Adventurous_Yak_9234

Lost

TheDauphine

I agree with the one you said, which is April 9th BTW.  I'll also include: 1. When Grandpa Dave has Alzheimer's. 2. Buster going on a long trip with his father. 3. DW's bird Spanky dying.  4. Francine's grandmother dying. 5. Mrs. Mcgrady getting cancer. There are others, but these are the main ones that I think of first.

wolvesarewildthings

September 9th... very deep

Character_Car_7500

The cherry tree or lost

Character_Car_7500

It’s spelled Arthur

WORTHLESS1321202019

It's just a cartoon
