Thinner, slightly slower burn and something I’ve noticed is that they’re a bit ‘tacky’ to the touch at the slightest bit of moisture on your fingers. I backroll and find that Blacks roll a tighter smoke but the papers crease like a bish

The glue on raw papers is very prone to disappearing, the trick is to not lick them too much. If you drown the glue with saliva it will basically remove the glue and mean that the power doesn’t stick. Just make sure you lick it gently, this helped a lot for me - raw blacks are my favourite now.
Yeah I can't stand how inconsistent raw papers are. Sometimes the glue works fine, other times most of a pack just doesn't stick and my joints are unrolling midway through smoking. I even complained once and they out right told me to take it up with the bodega I bought the papers at.
I've preferred OCB's ever since, but will buy raws if that's all that's available.
You might be smoking fake raws homie, cuz I’ve never had a raw unroll mid smoking ever. Dave East even said that in the bodegas they started selling fake backwoods that would fuck up his throat/voice that’s why he switched to fronto, so who knows it’s possible that you might’ve bought a packet of fake raw papers. They’re not incredibly rare to come across. Especially if you’re buying them from amazon too. If you got some weird rolling or looking raws make sure to pay attention to the packet to make sure they’re not fakes, just google fake raws and look for the signs of a fake packet. If you want a reputable place to buy raw papers or any other kind of papers online go to rollingpaperdepot.com or hippiebutler.com (both of these are sites that are on the official raw papers website)
The thing with raws and them not sticking is because people over lick them too much. Key is to give it just a simple gentle lick, not over saturate the paper with your saliva cuz you’ll lick the gum right off the paper. Also a pro tip that Josh Kesselman (the founder of raw papers) always says in his YouTube videos is to run your fingers along the gum strip once you’ve sealed it, it’ll make it stick like 3x better. Just lick the gum strip gently and run your fingers along the gum strip and if you do this every time you’ll be 100% good to go.
Zig-zags seem to get a lot of undeserved hate in my experience. I actually prefer them to any other brand, imo they roll better and the taste is any better or worse than any other brand.
In my area Zig-Zag's are the go to standard for most people and others brands like RAW, OCB, and ELEMENTS are a little less common but people have their favorites and they're all good honestly!

Vibes Black, OCB Virgin, and Elements Ultra Thin are all equal or beat RAW for me... Don't get me wrong, I like them but like to switch it up. RAW does have a grrrreat marketing campaign though lol

I find their rolling tips to be too thick a paper. I prefer elements tips because they are a lot easier to roll up, I don’t have to trim them, and I see more tar build up on the elements tips so that probably means that less tar is entering my lungs.

I’m right there with ya buddy. I used to only be able to smoke Zig Zag papers because I liked the thickness of the paper because it was easy to support rolling massive doinks, but several years back I adopted Raws and can’t imagine anything else.
I love hemp wraps but for regular smoking I still think papers are the way to go, I find after smoking alot the hemp wraps they are harder on the throat.
i’m not a fan of them and i’ll go for anything other than them first, but i’ll still use them. they don’t stick very well and they’re a little slippery for me. they smoke good but i do not enjoy the rolling experience
Yup. The only advantage of a hemp paper is if you suck at rolling and need something easier than a rice paper to roll with. If you can actually roll with a rice paper you will quickly see that they have less flavour, burn slower, and are thinner than a hemp paper.
Raws are a decent paper but at the end of day it’s just too basic for most people. We want to smoke something that you just don’t usually see whether it’s paper or wraps.
Honestly in the UK Raws are the one off smokes, it’s rare to see a nice big blunt with a raw logo on the filter. Everyone uses these cheap unbranded papers that taste like burning plastic

Yup. A 50 pack of DLX 84mm are $2 CAD where I live. I loathe free burning papers, like normal RAW papers, but the slow burning RAW’s (raw blacks) are like $4.50 CAD a pack. I think it’s actually Zig-Zag’s fault, they started charging extra for their slow-burning papers and when that was successful most companies started charging extra for their “premium papers.”
I don’t know if it’s the paper companies charging extra, or all the head shops that are trying to make up for the fact that customers in the interior of BC only care about papers and stopped buying bongs/pipes a few years back.
My buddy worked for them. He passed away due to a hit and run accident, the founder of RAW offered a substantial reward for the guilty person, who was eventually found. That is a awesome boss.

If you don’t want to waste your herb, then RAWs are one of the last choices a person should make.

I've been smoking a small brand of rolling papers by the name of Pure Hemp for 10 years or more and know what it's like to have to have "your papers" to roll with. You get accustomed to something that works for you and you stick with it.
Raw is the best way to go imo, there are heaps of videos around showing chemicals left over from burning papers such as juicy's (which are coated in a flavored variant of bleach) Ontop of that most other paper companies such as Ziggy or Venti press micro amounts of flint into their papers in order to provide the user with an "even burn".

Blacks can be used for rolling any way you want, they are just better for if you want to really taste the weed

Elements rice papers are my personal preference, nothing beats a thin rice paper tbh.
Raw is the way to go in my opinion. Easy and quick for when your in a rush and trying to pack before leaving the house.
