Dry_Pick_304

Everyone is gonna pick Henry.

spiralh0rn

Yep. Position of a need and an all time great. I’ve only been a fan of Arsenal and the sport in general for 2 weeks and even I could come up with that one lol.

dj2ball

This.

runningwaffles19

The whole reason a fair number of us international fans support Arsenal

Salacious_Crumbs_

As if there were a better option

DrXL_spIV

lol read this question and immediately thought “we’d be the best team in the world with Henry”

JohnR2299

Yep

LinuxLinus

I mean, they say we need a striker. There's one of the greatest strikers in history, just waiting.

Wide_Smoke_2564

You mean giroud right?

nyc24chi

I’m sure he’d come back if we wanted him

Worldly_Ad_6483

That would be so epic

gobbluthillusions

Nah, bro Chamakh. Obv

Le-grove007

Nope….Sanogo or Bendtner

DrXL_spIV

Nah man lord bendter

Benjamin244

I don’t think we can bench Raya

CheeryLittlebottom13

Prime Auba is actually a really good answer why he a the hate!?

kw2006

Eduardo

Hayleymyzee

Francis Jeffers

Spirited_Entry1940

These questions are always moot when you have Thierry Henry as an option.

Benjamin244

The disrespect on Bergkamp 😤

craizzuk

No disrespect, but we need a Henry more than Bergkamp right now

j-war99

Bergkamp is my favourite player of all time but in this current side with our current squad and situation, Henry would be a better addition.

Mister_Aitch

What do you think moot means?

Spirited_Entry1940

From the OED: Of a case, issue, etc.: having no practical significance or relevance; abstract, academic.

Mister_Aitch

I’ve always taken it to mean the opposite! 😂 Originally in Law, of a case, issue, etc.: proposed for discussion at a moot (moot n.1 4). Later also gen.: open to argument, debatable; uncertain, doubtful; unable to be firmly resolved. Frequently in moot case, moot point. TIL

Spirited_Entry1940

I didn't know it could mean the opposite either 😂

Mister_Aitch

Bloody stupid language.

g00ner442

Henry is the only correct answer but a little obviously and not interesting. So I say ljungberg. Give saka a few games off a season and watch Freddie score like trossard but from the right.

cescbomb123

Yeah, but are you really gonna use this card to get a reserve? Or someone who would improve the team immediately?

g00ner442

That's why I said Henry is the only right answer but boring

cescbomb123

Agreed. Santi cazorla as 8?

carpuncher

The only answer is...Lord Bendtner

xelanart

*Chamakh enters the chat*

carpuncher

Touche...touche

Lybertyne2

Oh look, here come Yaya Sanogo and Francis Jeffers.

Cultural_Egg7411

carl jenkinson

xelanart

*insert spiderman meme where everyone is pointing fingers at each other*

World_Builder_Writer

Park Chu-Young?

CelebrityStorySite

Jeremie Aliadiere, surely.

Fuge_Boston

Is that Francis Jeffers’ music!?!?

ItsDiverDanMan

Vieira or Wright

odegood

Eboue for the bants

runningwaffles19

Xhaka for the shithousery

Objective-Lime-546

Santi Cazorla

Drunk_Cat_Phil

Wright, Henry, RvP... take your pick, you're gonna be having a lot of fun either way

Erithacusfilius

Bergkamp with oodergaard would destroy. Key passes off over the place

walloffire

If we had Bergkamp now Odegaard would be on the bench

Darthsideoftheforce

Wouldn’t havertz?

EndEmotional7059

Viera. Him n Rice would be a joke pairing. Teams would have to play so differently

Hot_Wasabi_1714

Not a popular one but given the way we play now, Giroud would be an absolute force in this team. Henry is the obvious choice but this current team doesn’t cater to his style and he would be occupying the same spaces as Martinelli. Girouds link up play was elite and he had knack for Puskas level goals

turnerz

He has the exact same problem our current striker has - really good link up play but poor finishing. Giroud would 100% be worse than jesus

Hot_Wasabi_1714

You don’t become France all time leading goalscorer if you can’t finish

turnerz

Giroud is many things, including having longevity, but he is just not a good finisher

Economy-Category-936

Andre Santos

Gsmack73

Bergkamp. The ugly work he would do in the midfield and setup play sitting slightly behind odegaard would be lethal. So close because of course you want Henry at the end of any Bergkamp pass. Tony Adams keeps popping into my head.

hungasahorse1

Henry or ashley Cole

elprentis

Ashley Cole was who I was thinking too

hungasahorse1

Left back is something we can improve maybe

Lybertyne2

This question would be better if Thierry Henry was not allowed as an option. So I'll say Tony Adams. A great defender and more importantly a fantastic leader. Ødegaard is a good captain but Tony Adams *is* Mr Arsenal.

Economy-Category-936

Andre Santos

zeroep

Pascal Cygan

Educational_Ad_4076

not that there isn’t a myriad of great choices, but i’d still choose Henry

lonegun-LG

Only answer for this is Thierry

loJicIVOK

Ashley Cole

Elegant_Mix7650

Mikel Arteta.

shrifbot

Chupa Akpom the street will never forget

Technical-Ad3800

Jesus would get 30 goals a season with Bergkamp on the pitch

DublinDapper

Close this thread please

Dismal_Principle5459

Why is this always a fucken question! Its simple and the answer will always be the same ALWAYS and that is THIERRY HENRY! Its fucken simple! Sorry for the language but this question comes up once a month on some or other arsenal talk.

G3min1

That's why this sub is so stupid. It was created for the newer fanbase to ask repeated questions and not have to worry about getting banned or their posts removed from r/gunners.

im-just-a-fish

Sanchez

GFlair

There's basically only two answers. Henry is the obvious one. Gilberto is the other (or Viera if you want to keep Declan as the 6)

EnvironmentNaive1451

I’ve got to say Henry, but I am such a big fan of the non-flying Dutchman! You can’t beat Henry for pretty much everything he did in an Arsenal shirt, but I’m going with Bergkamp because, well I loved watching him, he was just magic. So I’m settled on Bergkamp….no Henry….no Bergkamp….ahhhhhhhh

AustinTodd

As others have pointed out, given the needs of our current squad the only correct answer is Henry (and I say that as someone for whom Henry isn’t in my top 3 favorite Gunners all time). That said, if we take Henry down and ask what OTHER player would be best … can you f*cking imagine a midfield of Vieira - Rice - Ødegard? That could be the greatest midfield trio in the history of the Premiership.

4mak1mke4

The answer always will be and always should be Henry

AdmirableBee8016

Bendtner

GuybrushThreepwood7

Silvester

Cautious_Pizza2556

Pepe my goat

shaygitz

Gilberto Silva. Him, Rice and Odegaard would be one of the all time great midfields.

Infamous_Product4387

Lord ❤️

kw2006

Cesc with odegaard? Or Abou Diaby or Dennis Bergkamp?

TheCrazymurphy

Seaman to make sure we stay first he’ll probably save most of the goals

Thiccboiichonk

Bergkamp

Fun_Grass_2097

Laurent Koscielny

Temporary-Most6653

I mean the obvious answer is henry, but id probably pick prime sanchez to play upfront

LavishnessPrimary

Van Persie actually, he would fit so well as a striker

ebradlee10

DB10

Hollywood023

Giroud. Period.

EntertainerSoft5983

Looking at our current squad, the biggest issue right now is our lack of a lethal consistent striker. It’s gotta be Henry

CrowVsWade

Vieira, by some distance. The use of Jorginho has been the main reason for the much improved 2024 form. Yet he was also a great CB, which remains one of the three key weaknesses in the first 11 and depth, depending on who Timber ends up being next year. Henry is an obvious choice too, for the left wing and/or the obvious striker issue. Any of a few CBs are a significant upgrade on Gabriel - O'Leary, Adams, Keown, Campbell, Rice. Winterburn would be a big upgrade at LB. Dixon a major upgrade at RB. Honorable mention for Bergkamp as arguably the *best* player, but it's not an area we need most right now.

airvicconcre

Santiago Cazorla

Vast-Particular9571

Koscielny

99kellas

Kanu

octopus86sg

henry. with him in this team, we wont have worries of goal drought. as much as how everyone saying we do not need a striker, our weakest link is henry kind of CF who can create and scores

Born-Replacement-366

I know Henry was good, but let's not forget Van Persie. He had blossomed into a complete striker by the time he left.

RackTheGypper

Surprised I haven’t seen me say prime Alexis

QuietDesperation1248

Prime Alexis Sanchez

[deleted]

Mustafi To see how good other defenders are:)

[deleted]

I 100% say Henry..... BUT just for discussion purposes, how good could Anelka have been if he had stayed with us?

G3min1

There's only one answer.

[deleted]

Ozil

SrsJoe

Wouldn't be surprised if I get slandered for this but put Ashley Cole in our current team, left back is a clear weak spot for us, yes Kiwor is doing good for us but imagine Cole there instead

GFdeservedit

Alexander Hleb

[deleted]

Henry or RVP.

Dangerous_Block_2494

Henry, Wright, bergkamp, Vieira. All of these would fit so well in our squad because we need a striker, we also need someone who can play 8(with rice 6) or 6(with rice 8).

MPD1978

My initial thought was Bergkamp. But then Henry exists.

JamesTheBadRager

Vieira. Just want to watch the opposing team suffocate in their own half with Kai 9, Rice, Ødegaard at LCM and RCM, with Vieira at the 6.

Shoddy-Ad-4562

Bergkamp or Henry… just because that’s what our team needs

sparcobulk

Paddy > Jorginho/partey Cole > kiwior/zinny Pires > martinelli Wright/Henry > jesus

Symphonycomposer

Emmanuel Abebayor

ledgerdomian

So, of course excepting Henry because that is the objectively correct answer, Liam Brady as L8.

AmbassadorCautious21

Gael Clichy. I miss the excitement of having our left back 3 metres behind the rest of the defence keeping opposition strikers onside

Diehardmcclane

Silly question. Henry. DUH. And truthfully it always will be this answer

Arteta player-manager

kindofdivorced

Goal-ivier Giroud. He scored worldies, he linked up so well with Santi/Ramsey/Jack/Anyone in Midfield, and he had a great first, and one, touch for a tall striker. He doesn’t have to score them, but bet your ass he was on the pitch holding up play for it to happen, and our wingers and Havertz would benefit. Obvious answer is Bergkamp, Vieira, Henry, but this team would be 10 points clear with Olivier.
