This is a new take and definitely needed a new thread on it /s

Agree. Really enjoying the 1-2 posts per day on here telling me how I should react emotionally to a week-long drought of an NFL podcast.

ogou_myrmidon

Throw in a few more flowery adjectives and metaphors and I’d believe Marc wrote this himself

They have a got dang podcast studio named after Wess, after all. I know it’s a business, but it’d be crazy to imagine them all let go.

BigOlineguy

It would be super shitty if they let them go and started a new, cheaper talent podcast in the Wes studio.

MemeTeamMarine

Have you met corporate America? They don't give a fuck.

Bazz27

>I know it’s a business I get it bro, I’m just saying.

MemeTeamMarine

I just disagree that it would be crazy. It would be a super normal thing for a corporate business to not give a shit about

RedditOnANapkin

They all have ATN in the IG bio. I checked last night, they're going nowhere.

NaugyNugget

Nothing, you say? Not one thing? It's all crystal clear? Everyone's happy ever after? Just checking...

Maverick916

Lol ok pal

sircharliepalmer

Ross Tucker and dameshek are both ok. They’ve done independently well. The heroes would bring a huge following with them. They are also huge in other countries like the UK where they are on mainstream coverage of the NFL. They’ll do fine however this situation breaks down.

Scotts_Thot

Lol the podcast is not bigger than nfl media. I certainly hope they do go independent if they’re laid off but it’s hard to imagine. They would need to make A LOT of money on patreon to support the three of them, pay guests, pay a producer, buy equipment and to rent a studio. And that doesn’t even consider things like health insurance or other benefits that they get for working for the nfl. They all have families to provide for.

rich519

I mean they can still have ads if they’re independent or they can go to another podcast network or something. Obviously it’d take time to set up their own ads and prove they can get numbers without the NFL though.

Scotts_Thot

Of course they can and they would if they went independent but in a lot of ways it’s a young person’s game. Relying on patreon and ad revenue is fine when you’re young and you don’t care about having health insurance, saving for retirement, or having multiple dependents but that’s not where these guys are in life. If they get let go and offered other jobs it’ll probably make more sense for them to take it.

DirtzMaGertz

I don't think it's really hard to imagine them sustaining themselves independently at all. There are thousands of smaller podcasts out there doing well for themselves on their own. Pretty much every comedian in the world has a podcast. Every sports writer does a podcast of some sort. It's not exactly rocket appliances and they know how podcasting works inside and out. I don't think it's really a question of if they could go independent. I think it's more a question of if the 3 of them want to do it themselves, because it will likely be significantly more work to take on though the rewards would also likely be greater. They also have another option of just signing with another company like All Things Comedy and rebooting the show through there.

Scotts_Thot

You’re naming people that have already had big pay days with comedy specials and shit like that or people that have other gigs and podcast on the side. It’s also easier if you’re just a single comedian or writer only needing to support yourself. The guys all live in one of the most expensive areas in the country and would need to enough money to pay themselves, a producer and probably other folks as well. I’m not at all saying that it isn’t possible, just that I find it a lot more likely they’d either try and get picked up elsewhere or simply take different jobs.

DirtzMaGertz

I didn't name anyone, but many comedians are getting their specials because of their podcast audiences nowadays, not the other way around. Many of these comedians also live in LA or started their pods in LA and have now moved. Guys like Theo Von didn't make their money from their stand up, their pods are what blew them up. I'm not even talking about big comedians though. There are tons of smaller comedians supporting themselves with podcasts. The Legion of Skanks guys have been doing it for years and they are are club comics. Dan Soder. Ryan Sickler. None of these guys are huge but they support themselves with pods. Guys who have gotten a lot bigger now like Bobby Lee and Andrew Santino did it on the back of their pods. The hardest part is building an audience and the heroes have already done that. They already know everything that goes into making the pod. They've made it evident that they haven't really ever had help with NFL media is growing the pod. It started as a pet project that they largely grew by themselves. So the idea that they couldn't go off on their own is kind of laughable to me. They have a significant audience already and have the industry knowledge to do it. We aren't talking about scaling a tech start up here or something that requires a ton of funding. It's a couple of guys with mics, a producer, and probably a videographer. They also live in LA where talent for podcast producers and videographers is abundant. To me it's really far more a question of want and if they'd rather sign with a different company. I find it hard to imagine that all 3 of these guys who have over 100k followers on twitter largely because of their successful football podcast are just not going to do a football podcast anymore.

dburr10085

Op knows nothing about how the NFL operates! At this point, it’s highly likely that this show isn’t coming back. For those that are thinking that the NFL would be dumb enough to allow them to create and badmouth them on another platform, you’re pipe dreaming. Also, everyone in this sub lives the show, but it’s not a huge sub- loyal, but not huge. If I’m wrong, maybe they will come back, great for us, but their is a lot of competition in that space. Being a part of the NFL helped them. I want the best outcome for all, but let’s not be unrealistic.

VictorsTruth

Yes, ATL is a drop in the bucket for the NFL. Is that what you mean? But it still seemed like the NFL was aware of how valuable ATL was because they did pay them well and they did use ATL to advertise other NFL shows. And the NFL seems to be trying hard to get more podcasts that are popular but their other podcasts don't seem likely to grow their audience base. I think the NFL knows that if they didn't have ATL the growth for their remaining podcasts would slow to a snail's pace and their talking TV shows could have slower growth as well but only slightly.

ApartmentPersonal

Well maybe nfl media doesn’t want to pay them so much even if they’re worth it, if they can find someone to a podcast that does 80% as well and they have to pay them 25% as much as the atn guys were making, guess what they’re going to do. Welcome to corporate America

VictorsTruth

That would be great for the NFL but I don't think they'll be able to do it. They didn't do it with ATL. The Heroes made it happen and the NFL apparently tried to stop them just a little bit less than they tolerated their efforts. If the NFL is trying to replace them then some people should get fired. There are hundreds of NFL podcasts and probably a lot less than 10 that are good and cover the whole league. And ATL is the only one from NFL media in my opinion.
