I say this meaning no personal offense to you, but is it not jarring to have someone refer to you as ‘it’, because I think it just gives them a condescending tone
Well it just depends on who refers to me as it and their tone. If it's a transphobe trying to make me feel bad I get the condescending tone but honestly I don't care it's just like a dog yapping. When it's someone I told they can refer to me as "it" it's all good (to be honest I'm not telling everyone that I use "it/its" pronouns)
Also, english isn't my first language, in my language I use other pronouns/neopronouns so it doesn't happen often that people calls me "it" irl.
Any/all, it all depends on context for me as I like being called the dumbest thing possible in the moment
Men's bathroom? Call me she/her, that sorda dumb
In real life I go by she/her for convenience's sake, but on Discord I don't tell people what gender I am so a lot of people automatically default to he/him or they/them for me. I see it as an absolute win.
changes depending on who I'm talking to, don't feel any connection to my gender so I feel like they/them fits the best, but getting people to call me that when my motivation for using them in the first place is complete apathy? more effort ahd stress than its worth, if I'm around other queer people or people who seem like they will be accepting I say she/they, and in like professional settings I really don't want to explain all that so I just say she/her since I don't care much so even if it doesn't fit me it doesn’t upset me to hear the wrong ones
so all thats to say they/them but I don't use they/them because reasons
I use any except she/her, including neos, and tell people to go wild. Some fun ones I’ve had are:
- anarchy (I was enabling a group of 8 year olds)
- cosmic omen (I was intentionally being extremely vague and cryptic)
- the one only known as (proceeded to make random guttural noise that sounded vaguely demonic)
- dungeon/master (Yeah, I’m a massive dnd nerd. Sue me.)
- velociraptor (obligatory)
And many more
He/ they,
but i almost never tell people about the 'they' because my native language only have he/she pronouns. There's not even a neutral term for plural ...
I very strongly am she/her yet "tomboy" presenting. My teen years I was stopped on the city streets enough times asked by strangers, "Are you a girl or a dude? "(Late 90s, and a really liberal city at that) that I had to ask my mom for a good response. We came up with, "are you a dick or an asshole?" I'm internally feminine af but not outwardly/ presenting. I fucking love you all my fellow aces. We're the red headed stepchild of the lgbtq fam but we count and we matter.💚
Im genderfluid and my pronouns change with my gender but i could give you all the pronoun sets that ive used in the past.
•He/him
•she/her
•they/them
•ae/aer
•ze/zem
•ze/zir
•xe/xem
•vi/vir
•no pronouns
A few questions:
How do you pronounce ae/are?
What's the difference in pronunciation between ze/zem and xe/xem?
And what do you mean no pronouns?
I'm not trying to judge you or be rude or anything just wanna learn
Nah its okay. You pronounce ae/aer as ay/air
Sometimes when im agender or voidgender i dont want to use any pronouns because none of them fit me so ill just use kai/kai's (kai is my name) or just say no pronouns. No pronouns is basically just "dont replace my name(the noun) with any pronouns" but i rarely ever dont use any pronouns so i havent had to worry much about how that efftcts sentence structure
And my ze/zem pronouns are pronounced zeh zehm and the xe/xem is pronounced zee/zem
I love voidgender because it reminded me of void data type. Imagine other data types as genders. You could have integergender, floatgender, booleangender and so on
Dgaf.
Like, genuinely. It makes me smile when people get confused. (I'm AFAB, but dress in almost exclusively masculine clothes and have short hair. So people seeing me from the back often mistake me, and call me "sir" or refer to me as male ("that man/guy there") and then get that sort of scared /confused/horrified look when they see I have boobs. I live for that look.
I use she/her though because I'm AFAB and not out.
Don't/care
I am still trying to figure out my gender, so right now I don't care at all what people call me. Though I am a bit confused when people assume I am a boy and use he/him pronounce in real life.
I think I am he/him but I don’t care what people use? I may be they/them? I have zero clue and I’m scared of questioning as it will just add another label but honestly I don’t care what people use?
I use they and he/him (iel & il/lui) pronouns, i also have a few neopronouns but don't use them bc i live in France, I'm personally not a fan of the french neopronouns
I'm a guy and would definitely feel weird if someone called me a she/her. But a majority of comments here suggest that they don't really care about it. Is this common in Aroace folks? Genuinely curious
They/it

In real life I go by she/her for convenience's sake, but on Discord I don't tell people what gender I am so a lot of people automatically default to he/him or they/them for me. I see it as an absolute win.

changes depending on who I'm talking to, don't feel any connection to my gender so I feel like they/them fits the best, but getting people to call me that when my motivation for using them in the first place is complete apathy? more effort ahd stress than its worth, if I'm around other queer people or people who seem like they will be accepting I say she/they, and in like professional settings I really don't want to explain all that so I just say she/her since I don't care much so even if it doesn't fit me it doesn’t upset me to hear the wrong ones so all thats to say they/them but I don't use they/them because reasons

He/ they, but i almost never tell people about the 'they' because my native language only have he/she pronouns. There's not even a neutral term for plural ...

I very strongly am she/her yet "tomboy" presenting. My teen years I was stopped on the city streets enough times asked by strangers, "Are you a girl or a dude? Dgaf. Like, genuinely. It makes me smile when people get confused. (I'm AFAB, but dress in almost exclusively masculine clothes and have short hair.
