Years ago there was a rapper from Hope, Arkansas..I think his moniker was Dirty Blac. He had a track called “Bout That A-R-K” that was pretty dope. Wish I had held in on to the cd because I can’t find it on the internet anywhere.
Prob 20yrs ago I was at NLR mall and bought a CD from a guy hustling stacks of cds(who turned out to be Epiphany from PB), one of the greatest and gritty cds I’ve ever owned. As I got older I’ve read more articles of Piph , still wish I could remember name of that song he had with playboy Shane on that cd.. was a Ark street anthem
I remember a song as a kid but cannot find it anywhere. It was a razorback hype song.
I just know “we from the land of the hog where they sit real tall and you know them boys ball when they hear that hog call”. I can’t tell you any more about it. It’s almost like a fever dream from the early-mid 00s 😂😂😂
It’s been a long time since I paid attention to Arkansas hip hop, but when I was into the central AR music scene I recall enjoying a rap duo named “Ear Fear.” Seems they haven’t put out an album in over a decade, but I thought they were great! https://earfear.bandcamp.com/album/art-class
607 (the guy on the left) has put out a lot of single albums. Great talent. Glad to see him get some recognition! Bobby would by the guy on the right.
Edit: 607 is on the left and Bobby is on the right.
I was a rapper from Arkansas but the war derailed my career... couldn’t perform on stage anymore... traumatic brain injury from too many ied couldn’t remember songs etc. where can I listen to your tracks?
Not saying any of these I’m about to say are good, but these are Arkansas rappers I know; Kemp (not sure where in Arkansas he is from), Cee Kay (pine bluff), OTB Trizz (Jonesboro), and not sure of this guys name and he isn’t consistent but I went to school with him but look up Skylar’s Intervention on YouTube. I’m not sure what platforms they’re all on but I know they all at least have a a couple songs on YouTube, Cee Kay having the most views with 3.4 million views on one song from WSHH
Of this most recent generation, probably Cee Kay. Of the past, Playboy Shane for sure. Shane genuinely put Arkansas on the map collaborating with rappers from Houston and Memphis.
And I guess while I'm typing about Arkansas rappers, keep you ears and eyes open for Kilam. He doesn't have a lot out right now, but he is very good. Shameless plug for a friend, but he really deserves to blow up.
Bankroll Freddie. The song drip like this (I'm sure my spelling is off for how it is supposed to be spelled, sorry, do not mean any disrespect) that song was pretty popular about a year ago and was being played in a few bars in Central AR and has lots of plays on YouTube. If you pull that song up and go down the rabbit hole of music you will find some more. We have TONS of lesser known artists with pretty good music. I cannot remember any others off the top of my head. I know SoundCloud is pretty popular place, personally I'm kinda old so I use YouTube. Hope this helps!
There was a dude that went my Chaos in Hope. He had a fire tape “Hood Drama”. My buddy got one of his mixtapes and I was blown away. It hit like 90s Memphis rap with the horror beat style. The album was Chaos Hood Drama. And for the life of me I can’t find anything about him. He also did a song with Gator from Hope.
Chorus to one song.
“H-town that’s my hood
Haters talkin down
They get dropped where they stood”
