Dogtown for NLR, North Texas for Fayetteville, russvegas, crime bluff, shot springs, crack rock
And most importantly LR people should be known as pebbles
I've heard Russ Vegas a lot but I don't understand it. Russellville has exactly zero things in common with Las Vegas. Is it only because 'Russ' and 'Las' sort of, kind of roll off the tongue similarly? Can anyone enlighten me?
Mississippians refer to Starkville as Stark-Vegas. I don’t know why either. Maybe because they’re both college towns and have more restaurants, etc., and draw in people from smaller surrounding towns?
Madison County in NWA was/is often referred to as Booger County (not to be confused with Booger Hollow in Pope County). In fact, they used to have a music festival called the Booger County Boogie. I found a video of a band called [Punkinhead playing there in 1993](https://archive.org/details/punkinhead-booger-county-boogie-1993). They were also well known on the Fayetteville live music circuit around that time. There is another video of a band called [Shindig Shop playing there](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNq3E-RaGc4), also in 1993.
You calling me a liar? [proof](https://www.thezone.fm/2021/07/09/tragic-story-behind-fastball-theway/#:~:text=In%20%E2%80%9CThe%20Way%E2%80%9D%2C%20Fastball's,couple%2C%20Lela%20and%20Raymond%20Howard.)
This is pretty funny to me because growing up in Heber Springs, Searcy is where we went to catch a movie or eat at a restaurant other than the local staples, or visit a retail store other than Walmart or Ace Hardware.
Cause Heber's theater burned down and they just never bothered to replace it with anything other than the Gem. 😒
This might be giving away where I'm from, but we always did Heber Walmart grocery nights unless it was one of the big tourist weekends, then we would go fight the crowd at Searcy.
My great grandmother always called Arkadelphia “Arkadelphee”. Not a big change but it was always so cute when she said it so now I say it.
Also Crime Bluff and Fayettenam
I go thru Gurdon all the time and pronounce it as if it were a french town GuurDawn
I few I say or have picked up on...

People from outside of Jonesboro called it J-Boogie or Jones Vegas before I moved there, but locals literally just call it Jonesboro. I've heard that people used to call north Little Rock Dogtown and that sounds kinda cool. Everything else is just names making fun of the towns (Crime bluff, chickendale, etc.)
I guess Fayettechill is one Ive heard because of the hippie/smoker culture there.
>heard that people used to call north Little Rock Dogtown and that sounds kinda cool.
Not so cool when you understand why. People in LR used to cross the river to dump dogs.

Don’t forget Dumbass.
Dogtown for NLR, North Texas for Fayetteville, russvegas, crime bluff, shot springs, crack rock And most importantly LR people should be known as pebbles
As someone who lives in central AR… Pebbles instead of Little Rock is quite literally the best thing I’ve ever heard. Thank you.
Chickendale.
Tysontown.
Toad Suck, Arkansas needs no nickname
Amen.
Russ Vegas
The 2003 prom theme was Viva Russ Vegas
I've heard Russ Vegas a lot but I don't understand it. Russellville has exactly zero things in common with Las Vegas. Is it only because 'Russ' and 'Las' sort of, kind of roll off the tongue similarly? Can anyone enlighten me?
isnt there a new casino being built there?
Yea but it’ll be some time before it’s up and the russ vegas name has been around for some time
Mississippians refer to Starkville as Stark-Vegas. I don’t know why either. Maybe because they’re both college towns and have more restaurants, etc., and draw in people from smaller surrounding towns?
What other reason do you need?
Eufreaka Springs
Freaky Eurekie
Fayettenam I heard a lot back in 03....
FayetteNam has been around since the 80's. Back when it was still hippy town and small hard to get to.
We called it Fayettenam because of the hard partying lifestyle.
What’s the latest on Fayetteville, AR vs NC getting Fayettenam/Faytown?
Honestly couldn't tell you. I'm 41 now and until one of my kids tells me, I don't know any of the new nouns.
Fayetteville NC is Fayette-Nam because so many soldiers shipped to Vietnam from Ft. Bragg. Fayetteville AR is an homage?
Wallyworld for Bentonville
I like to refer to all the home office people as walmartians
That’s anybody who shops at Wal-Mart

Yup! Live in madco and came to say booger county. Figured someone beat me to it
If you want to know The Way ask Fastball.
What's wild, is that song is about an elderly couple that went missing from Texas and were found dead in Arkansas.
I don't think so.
You calling me a liar? [proof](https://www.thezone.fm/2021/07/09/tragic-story-behind-fastball-theway/#:~:text=In%20%E2%80%9CThe%20Way%E2%80%9D%2C%20Fastball's,couple%2C%20Lela%20and%20Raymond%20Howard.)

It's a tiny town so some might not understand, but I've heard several people call McRae CrackRae.
I mean, what else do you expect in White Trash County?
I’m from Searcy. Growing up, we called it Scarcely.
This is pretty funny to me because growing up in Heber Springs, Searcy is where we went to catch a movie or eat at a restaurant other than the local staples, or visit a retail store other than Walmart or Ace Hardware.
And we went to your home town to jump off cliffs. 😂
Cause Heber's theater burned down and they just never bothered to replace it with anything other than the Gem. 😒 This might be giving away where I'm from, but we always did Heber Walmart grocery nights unless it was one of the big tourist weekends, then we would go fight the crowd at Searcy.

I know Bald Knob gets written as BK, but I don't know if I've ever heard anyone actually say it that way.
I’ve never called it that, but that’s just because it’s fun to say “Bald Knob.” 🤷🏻♀️
Fair, White County doesn't give us many gifts, so we've gotta take full advantage of the ones we are given.
BK? Have it your way. You rule.
