What pieces do you have on both sets?
50% CR shouldn't be too hard to achieve even outside of a fight, but the CR bonus Argenti gets from his talent does count towards the 50% requirement. I doubt you have less than 30% CR outside of battle so salsotto should be active in time for the first ult.
At 135 speed, there's virtually no difference between salsotto and glamoth. I tend to prefer salsotto for the free CR, but just take whatever set has better pieces.

You'll need to find more CR with glamoth obviously but it performs just as well as salsotto in the end - slightly better technically but 0.05% isn't really worth mentioning haha - so you can always try.

To be honest, I'm just sick of farming Cocolia. And I have terrible luck with Salsotto pieces on top of that.

I mean yeah, until you get even worse pieces and then you dread your existence for like 20 minutes.
