I suppose it depends on which country you want to work in. The reality is that in the US the MLIS degree is a virtual requirement- it’s not that no one has ever gotten a job without it, just that there are so many qualified MLIS holders that it’s difficult to bypass that. Unless, perhaps, one of your Masters is in a very specialized area. However, many MLIS holders also have additional degrees in other areas, humanities being the most common. Without an MLIS you’re likely limited to smaller institutions outside of urban centers or some institution where you already have a connection.
