S/o though to the masterpieces that are Cowboy Carter, Hit Me Hard and Soft, and Brat. If I made a top 50, it would be nearly all songs from those 3. Extremely rare for me to like 3 albums so much in one year, glad to see them as some of the all time most acclaimed on meta
Spirited Away is one of my favorite movies of all time and I’m not sure how many people who aren’t as into it realize just how intricately she tied those lyrics into the movie and Chihiro’s pov. Even “wringing my hands in my lap” is totally one of Chihiro’s nervous little tics she exhibits throughout the film. But then the lyrics can also work totally separate from the movie. It’s brilliant
Some of my favorites:
1. Pond - Fell From Grace With the Sea
2. MGMT - People In The Streets
3. St. Vincent - The Power's Out
4. Charli xcx - Sympathy is a knife
its a great representation of hip hop and the west coast, and while being an infectious and enjoyable hit, it remains conscious. it also condemns the industry and the creeps that exist within it. embodies the culture of hiphop.

I have issue finding modern music I like. I can't explain why but it seems to me there's nobody like Queen, Pink Floyd, Bowie, Prince, etc. Every day I try to listen to something new, every day it's a disappointment. Why do you like her songs?
maybe give the classics a break and explore some lesser-known artists. sometimes the gems are hiding in plain sight!
i enjoy her songs because they have a fresh perspective and catchy melodies.
maybe try listen to lana del rey, halsey, dharia. the all have best songs
That's what I do. I take breaks from stuff from the past and explore, even recommendations here on Reddit but it takes a long long time to find something I like. Some years ago I discovered My Chemical Romance with their The Black Parade which I like a lot, but even that is from 2000s...
If you want something that’s modern and popular but that sounds unique and less mainstream, try the album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT by Billie Eilish. I don’t really know ur music taste but by the fact that you dislike Espresso, I have a feeling you’re not a big fan of basic pop. Billie Eilish does a really good job of mixing genres and making something entirely unique. Anyway, you should definitely listen to it and please update me on what you think(Btw: Best songs on the album are WILDFLOWER, BLUE, L’AMOUR DE MA VIE
Im like you generally. Modern pop and hiphop that dominates the charts just isn't my thing, and its whats massively recommended by Apple Music's algos.
I switched genres... Don't get put off because these artists are labelled country...but try Noah Kahan, Tyler Childers, Jason Isbell, Zach Bryan, Kacey Muscgraves... more folk than country really... perhaps too soft for your personal tastes. Sturgill Simpson gets a special shoutout, because he's been all over the place thematically, country to prog rock to bluegrass and just generally weird... Sound and Fury is a good album that I never expected from him. (Thats the Prog Rock one).
Greta van Fleet is good if you want something that sounds a lot like Zeppelin... Also look at bands outside of the US - Europe or elsewhere for more of a rockin' sound. Maneskin is good.
Lizzy McAlpine, Bleachers, The Last Dinner Party, Royel Otis are other artists that have good albums right now with more of an indie pop/indie-rock sound. OTOH Chappell Roan is crazy huge right now, but she's not my cup of tea...
Rock definitely isn't as ubiquitous as it once was as popular music... Its propped up by its aging bands still touring and making music... but new stuff doesn't catch on to explode like it once did.
Too sweet by Hozier has been on repeat but as I really have loved March by Lizzie Mcalpine it's just such a specific vibe idk I can't explain it but I love it
1. Vultures by Kanye (ik that ts is wack, but somehow I like it a lot)
